Back when we were studying animation in Fine Arts, @marscarat and I got to animate a few scenes for a Duerme Pueblo trailer, the comic by @ntamarit and I. We even got music by our friend Ferro! These are only the fully animated scenes, to see the whole planned animatic, click here. Would be cool to have been able to finish it all, but we discovered animation is a lot™️ By the way, if you're interested, Duerme Pueblo is now avaliable in French! -> Le village s'endort.

Hello hello and welcome back to the theory hole! Today we’ll be going over Episode 3 of Lalin’s Curse. Everyone’s biking to school and yay!! Tobi is here :D

As David and Tobias interact, it is quite obvious that Tobi seemed to blush every time David touches him or is near. This is probably some foreshadowing to an eventual Davias ship.

 Tobias’s creator, Maria Ponce (@Marscarat) has also drawn David and Tobias in a manner that implies shippery. I actually hope this relationship doesn’t get explored too early on in the series. Thr ‘five bros being idiots’ dynamic is really nice right now, and I really hope to see more of those sort of shenanigans ^^

When the trio are discussing paranormal activity, David gets really fired up and declares that they’re going to go investigate. It’s really nice to see him fired up, especially after he used to not defend himself and his opinions during the timeframe of Delete (2010). 

On that subject, let’s talk about Delete.

Isaky has said that David’s brown fringe of hair was caused by increased melanin production of that area following the damage done to his head from jumping into the river. (For those who may not know, Melanin is the pigment that makes stuffs dark)

But, I think that his brown fringe carries more importance than that. At the end of Delete, Valor tells David that she’ll always be with him. I think the entirely of Delete is symbolic of David’s inner struggle and finding his courage, his Valor.

If you take a look at Valor’s hair and David’s fringe, it’s the same color. I think that David’s fringe is a token or physical reminder that he’s found his bravery, which also correlates with his displayed willingness to defend paranormal activity.

Let’s get back on track. During the school day, we get a lil school montage. This is when it’s first obvious in the comic that Tobias’s hair strongly resembles Nil’s. They have the same tufts on the side, and the same curl of hair in the middle. They also have the same hair color.

Isaky has drawn Tobias with his dog being all shadowy, as well as other elements that suggest a shadow affiliation or connection to Nil. 

However, there is not yet enough evidence to substantiate a connection between the two. It could be foreshadowing however that the demon will eventually hurt Tobias, or David will get him hurt. The reason Nil died in Delete was because he chose to stop deleting worlds and help Valor in order to save his creator (David).

Let’s move on. Cody and Eric are here! Yay! I love these two so much.

This does raise the quick question, when did they meet everyone? The short answer is that Eric and Cody joined the squad during 2nd ESO (The year before this one, they were in the 13-14 year age range) I plan on making a full timeline later on (including events from the character’s backstories and other events), so look out for that.

When they talk about going to explore the forest and crime scene, Eric and David are very persistent about it. We already know David loves paranormal things, but what about Eric?

Based on Isaky’s original character profile for Eric, he is a very active person who loves excitement. He’s stated before things like ‘I hope it’s something supernatural, otherwise it’d be boring’. That is the first possibility for why he really wants to investigate.

The second possibility is because of his brother’s death. It was stated on Eric’s April fools trivia that his brother died in 2010, two years prior to Lalin’s Curse. Maybe his brother’s death was caused by something supernatural? Like he went into the forest and never came out. That could be a reason for Eric to be passionate about exploring. We see more evidence of how badly he wants to explore in later episodes, which will be discussed then.

Cody reacts very differently to them wanting to explore the forest. At first, he is really nervous and states strongly that it’s a horrible idea. He seemed very opposed to going in.

But after it’s stated that they wouldn’t be there at night and won’t be there for long, he calms down immediately. Why might that be? There are a few options here.

Option A, the transformation theory. Cody turns fully into a reptilian every night without control over it. While this sort of were-reptilian behavior isn’t typically canon to beliefs about aliens and reptilians, anything can happen. So it may be that he didn’t want to be with his friends at night.

Another option in that the reptilians always patrol the woods at night, and Cody does not want his friends hurt by them. Or perhaps there are always reptilians in the woods. Why might this be?

Maybe there’s something they are guarding in the woods, something they don't want anyone to find. Maybe that’s why Cody was tailing Monica in Episode 0, and it may also link back to the murder. Does David’s attempted kidnapping tie into what could be in the woods as well? It’s a fun thought!
