Marry Me at Marriott 2023 Features Six Top Filipino Designers

The 9th Edition of Marry Me at Marriott featured six of the country's top fashion designers in the grandest wedding event of the year! We love attending this annual bridal fair hosted by Manila Marriott Hotel where everyone is always dressed to impress. We even won as one of the Couples of the Moment not just once, but twice! Marry Me at Marriott 2017: The Grandest Bridal Fair in the Country

Marriott Hotel Manila once again held the grandest and most spectacular bridal event of the year as the country’s top fashion designers, personalities, stylists, wedding suppliers, and soon-to-be newlywed couples gathered at the Marriott Grand Ballroom for Marry Me At Marriott 2017. Now on its fifth year, the event continues with its promise of being a must-see event, especially for couples thinking of tying the knot soon.

I still remember the first time I attended my first Marry Me at Marriott event last 2015 which coincided with the opening of the Marriott Grand Ballroom (read about it here), the country’s biggest and most prestigious ballroom. This is one of the most talked about and eagerly-awaited social events of the year so everyone makes it a point to dress up and be at their dazzling best. It was definitely an evening to remember filled with fashion, music, celebrities, food, and the most gorgeous models wearing the most fabulous wedding gowns you will ever see.

Several stylish and unique wedding cakes were on display leading to the ballroom. Marriott’s in-house Event Studios designs and creates their own dream weddings cakes and these are just so beautiful. There were live goldfish swimming inside the cake!

Before we stepped inside the Grand Ballroom, the guests were all treated to a spread of colorful cocktails and desserts featuring delectable creations from the Marriott Manila kitchen led by Executive Chef Meik Brammer. All sorts of sweet and savory items were on the table including gravlax tartare, foie gras parfait, prawn canapés, chocolate cakes, macarons, and many more. 

The Yuzu and Mango Cream in Strawberry Cone was also a popular item while waiting for the ballroom doors to open.

They also had other savory dishes including the biggest pot of Beef Stew I have ever encountered! This cauldron is good enough to feed hundreds of hungry guests. There was also a Japanese station with assorted sushi and rolls plus cured hams, breads and hot soup.

Endless glasses of red wine and Raffa Sparkling Wine were also available for all the guests as well.

The event was also an opportunity to meet and catch up with other members of the hospitality and marketing industries like the lovely, Ms. Joey Silvestre.

The Marriott Grand Ballroom then opened its doors to reveal a majestic masterpiece. A lengthy 200-feet catwalk easily fit inside the ballroom which was turned into a huge garden with ceiling accents by famed event stylists Gideon Hermosa, Michael Ruiz and Teddy Manuel.

Playing hosts to Marry Me At Marriott 2017 was the dashing TV host and personality, Marc Nelson, together with the elegant Director of Marketing Communications of Marriott Manila, Michelle Garcia.

Four of the most promising and talented local fashion designers were featured during Marry Me At Marriott 2017. First up was the young designer Michael Leyva (center) who is beginning to makes waves in the fashion industry.

A Mercedes-Benz bridal car came out on stage to open the show with a beautiful bride making her way towards the audience.

Several other models wearing the designs of Michael Leyva came down one by one, each gown expressing its own unique character and personality.

Popular celebrity Anne Curtis then walked the runway as the Michael Leyva’s muse with her blazing red wedding gown to the delight of the crowd.

Next was the work of Happy Andrada who presented a beige-colored motiff for her wedding gowns.

Leading the presentation were the two lovely daughters of Ruffa Gutierrez, Lorin and Venice Gutierrez Bektas. Marry Me At Marriott features not just wedding gowns but also designs for the entire wedding entourage.

Happy Andrada’s work carries a more simple but elegant style, with beige undertones and intricate beading.

TV and events host Jannena Chan also participated in the set as the lovely muse with her own elegant style.

Guests were also treated to special numbers and performances in between designers. These included daring acrobatic acts, the G-Force dancers, and The Groomsmen singers.

Hannah Kong then showcased her own fashion design, starting with a few children’s gowns worn by 2-year old Kathleena Margaret Tan, granddaughter of Marriott Hotel Manila owner Andrew Tan, accompanied by her mother Michelle See-Tan.

Hannah Kong’s gowns have a refreshingly sexy theme, highlighting the bride’s natural shape. It also showcases different fabrics and textures for a wedding gown.

The set also featured noted celebrities including Maricar Reyes, Maris Racal, Tricia Gosingtian, and even Olympic weighlifting silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz.

The final designer was Avel Bacudio (second from right) with his own set of glamorous wedding gowns.

With all these beautiful gowns, I’m sure any bride-to-be will be able to choose her favorite and have a better idea of what she would want to wear on her most important day.

The biggest surprise of the night was when TV heartthrob and one half of the super tandem “Aldub” Alden Richards came out riding a convertible Mercedes-Benz SLC. Decked in a navy blue suit, this debonaire groom can truly melt any woman’s heart.

The night’s festivities ended with a parade of all the models wearing their elegant gowns and dresses. It was truly the bridal event of the year and Marriott Hotel Manila once again successfully hosted this grand spectacle. Congratulations to all the designers and congratulations to Marriott Manila for an enchanting evening.
