As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.
[SMS: Resi♡] Got delayed, coming in the cathedral soon
Being delayed was an understatement, but at least he made it before the ceremony started. So much for coming early. Vlad walked in with a few of the last guests, adorning a black suit and navy necktie loosened oh so slight so he could breathe. It was a full cathedral; full of friends and family, Vlad couldn't help but smile for his two friends.
It took a moment to spot Resi with such a crowd, and he immediately went to take his place next to her. From the corner of his eye, however, a red-green combination from across the aisle caught his attention. His brows furrowed, trying to place who it was, only for the realization to dawn on him with the bride's entrance. Ena.
With the sound of the organ, Vlad brought his attention to the back of the sanctuary, his eyes following Lilli in her beautiful white gown as she made her way to the altar and to her groom. She appeared to be an angel the way the light came in from the windows and onto her blonde hair and wedding dress. And Jan, her groom, a proud giant waiting for his precious angel.
It was a beautiful ceremony in all ways, and Vlad was glad to have made it. He nearly cried, he was so happy for them. Briefly, his mind wandered to a conversation he and Jan had about the subject, about being ready. No one ever is, but you know when you know...
Ena. As the guests were slowly filing out to head to the reception, Vlad pulled out his phone.
[SMS: Ena♧] you're back? You never answered my texts... or my calls, I was worried something was wrong
[SMS: Ena♧] at least talk to me at the reception

"Oh, yeah but I'd definitely like a ride." It was only then after she agreed that she even thought about how Resi would probably be getting a ride there with him as well. There was no taking it back now without looking like she wanted to avoid him or Resi.
"Let me just call the cab and say my plans changed." She said, as she took out her phone. As she spoke to the cab driver she forced herself to relax. It was just a car ride, it might be a little awkward but she could handle it.
As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.

"well of course I'm going to go all out for a wedding, just don't expect me to be dressing like this all the time." She laughed, visibly relaxing. "Well no wonder your tie is tight, it looks like it's choking you, let me fix it."
Without thinking she stepped closer to loosen the tie just enough for it to look nice without being too tight. She then realized her mistake as she noticed how close she was to him. Last time they were this close they were laughing and having fun, before he was with Resi.
Screw it she thought as she hugged Vlad, making sure not to hug too tightly and wrinkle his suit. "I'm sorry I never replied to you. I needed to change some things about my life but I should have at least told you what I was doing."
As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.

Ena felt her phone vibrate in her wristlet and quickly pulled it out to check who was texting her. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw who was texting her.
"Vlad..."
During her traveling she had avoided calls from not only him but most of her friends and family. She now realized that was a foolish plan but it was too late to take that back now. She looked around at the crowds leaving trying to find Vlad but was unable to find him so she sent him a message as she waited for a taxi to take her to the reception.
[Text] I'm sorry, I had to take some time to figure out myself and I didn't answer my phone for anyone
[Text] I can explain better at the reception, I'll see you there

As she adjusted his tie, Vlad could feel his face heat up. Burgundy eyes darted away, it felt so strange. It wasn't like that before...
The hug was unexpected, but welcomed. While he tensed up at first, he quickly relaxed and returned it, keeping his hands up on her back.
"Sometimes you need a soul-search, I understand. What I was worried about was the possibility of it being my fault." He pulled away, giving them both room to breathe in the hot July air. "I have an uncanny ability to repel people unintentionally, my family being a good example."

Ena snorted as she let him go and smiled up at him. "Please, if it was your fault you'd know. I just realized I cared more about pleasing others than myself and needed some alone time to break that habit."
She gave him a playful smirk. "Don't worry though, next time I have a crisis and disappear you'll be the first to know."
Ok the world didn't end when she hugged him. See? nothing wrong with hugging your friend. Your friend that you had a crush on...and is now dating your other friend who was paranoid about you stealing him...and now she's tense again.

Her words settled in his mind, lingering long after her voice silenced. Pleasing others more than yourself... perhaps that was his issue. Or was it? It was going to take a couple bottles of wine to find out.
With that, Vlad breathed a brief laugh. "Yes, I would appreciate being updated." After a moment, he could see her tense. And time was passing... slowly, as if time itself was awkwardly heavy and dense.
"Soooo... are you... waiting for a cab to get to the reception?" He raised a brow, pulling time back into a normal flow. "I have a car, you don't need to waste money on a cab. There's plenty of room, four seats." Was he thinking of how awkward it would be with Resi there as well? In the moment, not particularly, although the thought was starting to sink in now that he suggested this out loud.

It took a moment to spot Resi with such a crowd, and he immediately went to take his place next to her. However, Ena still caught his eyes every once in a while throughout the ceremony. She was like a magnet, and his feelings swirled into a conflicting storm around her. He wasn't sure if he should be excited that she's back, or worried, or scared, or any number of things. It's like a ghost coming back to haunt him, and the thought made him hold Resi's hand just a little tighter.
"Sorry, had some trouble with the exchange bureau on the way. I'm still not used to Euros." He whispered so only she would hear.
As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.

Vlad felt his phone vibrate and read the message quickly before replying and stashing his phone once more.
[SMS: Ena♧] Yes, please do. I'll see you there
By the time he looked up, Resi seemed to have already walked on and he had completely lost her. Great... were they going to the reception separately or together? He sighed, deciding to at least go get the car ready to head out.
As he exited the cathedral, greeting some old friends along the way, he saw the Irish woman all by herself, most likely waiting for a ride. He quietly walked up to her from behind, hands in his pant pockets.
"Or, we can talk now if you want?"
As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.

Ena was lost in her own thoughts as she read the latest text from Vlad. She was about to reply when she heard Vlad right behind her.
"Now would be perfect." She said, smiling lightly as she turned around to face him. She had to admit, he looked handsome in a suit. All she wanted to do was pull him into a hug but she didn't know if he'd want that after she basically disappeared without telling anyone.
"Nice suit, looks good on you."
As Vlad's car finally rolled up among the many others in the lot, he quickly shot out a text responding to his girlfriend's question.

It was all Vlad could do to not just pull her into a big embrace. He missed her, there's no lying about that. However, was it appropriate? He greeted people with hugs all the time, why would this be different?
Well, because there's a history...
"Thanks. The tie feels a bit tight, though." He hesitated a smile before letting the muscles in his face relax into it. "But speak for yourself, I don't believe I've ever seen you in a dress like this." She was beautiful — no, she was breathtaking. Like out of a fairy tale. The look suited her, although he did miss her flowing locks.
