Rebjukebox 2024 - No 1

Here's my first playlist for 2024, it's not gonna be a monthly thing, just once i have 40 tracks i like, then i will share it. So could be one or two or even three in one month and other months maybe none, this is why it's numbered. I am already close to No 2 being finished, cover done, just need to cut down to 40 tracks from the 80+ tracks in the provisional draft playlist. So could share this next week!! These playlists are great way to find new bands and artists and saves us having to post each on sepearatly.

I used to do these just through Soundcloud, but thought i might as well add it to my Spotify also. So i will add two links to the playlist and can use which ever one you prefer.

Been going through T. Kingfisher books for the past, uh, *checks inbox* five or so weeks. First it was Bryony & Roses, which I'd been meaning to read for ages. Then I read Thornhedge, which was exactly the right follow up for me. Then I read the first bit of A Sorceress Comes to Call and when I realized it was the Goose Girl, I was super excited. But it wasn't out yet.

Luckily, it came out just a couple of weeks later, and I got it for myself as a birthday gift. A very good birthday gift in which there's a cool middle-aged woman and a super-gross horse. Not-horse.

Well, by then I was on a roll, so I had to keep going. I read Nettle & Bone and it was fucking horrifying. But also romantic, a bit. And it had two weird old ladies, which is always my favorite thing in anything. I love them??? I mean, I like Marra, too, but the old ladies are the real draw. And the dog, of course.

After that, I got tangled up in Kobo's abysmal search function, and I was confused by which books were in the same universe, and which weren't. But eventually, I ended up tearing through the first Paladin book like it was 1997 and I'd read everything else in the school library but the history books. I tried to write a review but came down with a bad case of feelings.

Nessa Barrett – The Fillmore – Philadelphia, PA – March 2, 2023 

Twenty-year-old singer/songwriter Nessa Barrett took the stage of the Philadelphia Fillmore on her Young Forever tour. Before even entering the venue, fans filled the streets of the city eager to see their favorite singer and the person they look up to most. This is the singer’s first tour and I was lucky enough to catch her on the sixth date! 

Isabel LaRosa kicked off the night with an electric performance. The room lit up when she sang hits “HAUNTED,” “I’m Yours,” and even a cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl.” Isabel was the perfect act to get the crowd ready for Nessa’s performance. 

As the lights went down over the crowd and went up on the stage, screams filled the room as Nessa’s silhouette graced the stage. She started her set with “Madhouse” followed by “Decay” and “Too Hot to Cry,” all tracks from her newest album Young Forever. Though Nessa only has several singles, one EP, and one album, the Fillmore was flooded with fans from the barricade of the stage to the back of the room. 

Nessa played everything from EP tracks “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead” and “Scare Myself,” many songs from Young Forever, her newest single “BANG BANG” and even an unreleased song titled “American Jesus.” 

What I love most about Nessa is not only how talented she is, but how much love she shows to her fans. All throughout her set, she expressed her gratitude and love for everyone in the room. When talking about her own struggles, she made sure to let her fans know that they are not alone and that this tour is a safe space for them. I got teary-eyed! 

Speaking of teary-eyed, while singing fan favorite “Die First”, fans held up white roses to pay their respects for the loss of Nessa’s best friend, Cooper, who passed away in 2022. This was one of the most emotional, passionate, and beautiful performances I have ever seen. 

Nessa closed out the night with viral hit “I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead” which had everyone on their feet. This was a great end to an incredible night.

Twenty years ago, conflict broke out in the western Sudanese state of Darfur as non-Arab tribes rose up against the Arab-dominated government in Khartoum. After Omar al-Bashir came to power through a military coup backed by the National Islamic Front in 1989, tensions grew as non-Arab tribes accused the government of marginalising and underfunding them. In 2002, the Darfur Liberation Front (later called the Sudan Liberation Movement) was formed, and on February 26, 2003, it claimed responsibility for an attack on Golo in the Jebel Marra area of Darfur. The group was joined by the Justice and Equality Movement, and a rebellion was launched. Khartoum’s response was to support and arm local Arab militia known as the Janjaweed to support its forces in fighting the African tribes. The Janjaweed were later absorbed into Sudan’s official forces by al-Bashir. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed, and more than two million were displaced, both internally and over the border in neighbouring Chad. While a peace agreement was signed in 2020, the people of Darfur still have a long, painful journey ahead of them to heal from the conflict.

So - this is for a very maybe fic idea I've had today. IDK if I'm going to write the full thing, for a couple of reasons, but:

"Mr. Bellkeeper?" she asked idly; he paused, looking back with a murmur. "You don't know any famous ravens, besides the Great Raven, do you?"

"Well," he hummed back, a spark of interest in his eyes, "that would depend on what the context is?" He raised one bushy eyebrow; she squirmed just a tiny bit at that, knowing he probably wouldn't approve of what she was about to say. Then again, she knew, he'd probably heard worse from her before.

"It's just..." she began, deciding to trust her gut. "I was talking to a marra recently." His eyes widened just a little at that, but he didn't stop her. "She said she was much older than I thought, but she wouldn't say by how much; all she said was that she'd seen 'the Raven' fight 'the Light'. So I asked Raven if he knew anything about that, but he said he didn't.

"I know his memory's not the best, but..." she couldn't help a small smile, "I also know he doesn't like fighting people, so I don't think she was talking about him."

"Aye," the Bellkeeper replied, something twinkling in his gaze. "I suspect she wasn't. Hold on a minute, Hilda."

He got to his feet, turning away from the table and towards the narrow shelf of books that stood high up on the cabin wall. For a moment, his fingers danced along old and dusty spines, before his shoulders shifted in quiet triumph, and he pulled a heavy book free, turning back to set it down between their mugs of tea.

He flipped it open before she could see the cover, thumbing briskly though broad pages; in the blur Hilda could see glimpses of dark outlines, detailed illustrations disappearing into paper, before he abruptly stopped, leaving her staring at a double-page spread of drawings. Those dark lines carved out the shape of a ship, all of its angles shown in stark contrast, and there was a smile under the Bellkeeper's beard as he sat back down.

"I think you'll find that's your raven," he said fondly, patting the edge of the paper. Hilda looked down; she didn't know enough to be able to read the scale, but it looked, big, bigger than the Draugen's ship even, long and low-set with jutting masts. Huge wheels hung at its sides, half-cowled in wooden frames, and a chimney rose high between the 2nd and 3rd masts.

At the top of both pages, in thick, black letters, the old reference book labelled it plainly:

"TNS Raven's Thunder?" she read softly; he nodded, murmuring again.

"First iron-hulled warship ever built in Trolberg," he explained, idly tracing the shape of the hull. "Ordered by Harland Ahlberg in eighteen-thirty-nine."

"What happened to it?"

"Well," he began again, tilting his head just a little. "She was built for hunting pirates; during the Battle of Trolberg Harbour, she got into a brawl with one of their ships, the Light of the Ocean. When the pirates couldn't damage her with cannons, they rammed her instead, and both ships were sunk." Hilda's felt her eyes widen; had Ashley really seen a pirate-ship battle?

"Really?" she breathed; he nodded, his smile turning wry.

"Oh absolutely; there's even a song about it, that claims the captain of the Light sacrificed her ship to let the others get away. I don't know if there's any truth to it, but it's a good tune.

"Roll on, you Light of the Ocean Roll on, into the night, For the sun has set on your old gun-deck And there's no wars left to fight."

hoje, 19 de dezembro de 2023 faz exatamente oito meses que descobri a gravidez, que no primeiro xixi do dia, fiz o teste em um palitinho no banheiro e tinha dois riscos que você estaria a caminho, logo logo..Como passou rápido e como passou devagar kkk nem sei explicar o tanto de coisa que aconteceu nesse meio tempo! Passamos por muita muita coisa, dentre elas boas e ruins, vários aprendizados, várias viagens (fomos de carro pra Caldas Novas, de avião pro Rio de Janeiro e de ônibus pra São Paulo, eita você ja viajou mais que qualquer um em kkk) e várias pessoas foram entrando e saindo da nossa vida e Deus sempre muito presente..

A Bruna e o Lucas foram seus padrinhos mágicos, deram tanta coisa, berço, carrinho, kit higiene, roupinha, kit berço, almofada, bolsa e mochila pra maternidade e um tanto de coisa, Deus tocou no coração deles de uma forma que nem sei explicar, praticamente 80% do enxoval foram seus padrinhos. A vovó Rose, sempre que íamos no trabalho dela, tinha presente pra vc, deu roupinha e o bebe conforto pra vc passear de carro. Já a vovó Grazi, deu roupinha nova da loja, fomos lá comprar cada coisinha pensando em vc e tem umas duas peças que tô doida pra ver você usando pq são lindas dmsssss. O papai cuida de você mais que todo mundo, mantém nossa casinha, compra comidinha e cuida da gente com mta paciência graças a Deus! Ele se tornou um paizão, tá super ansioso pra te segurar nos braços e avisar todo mundo que você nasceu lindão e saudável.

Eu jurava que você viria antes do tempo, jurava que viria semana passada, mas até agora nada.. já já é Natal e queria que você viesse no seu tempo, no tempo de Deus mesmo eu sentindo mtas dores, enjoos e tudo que esse finalzinho proporciona, queria que já estivesse aqui, bem forte, bonito e saudável, mas a barriga da mamãe deve tá mto quentinha e você tá cm preguiçinha pra sair né.. Enfim, papai e mamãe, as vovós, o tio Ehnzo, a Ana, o bisa de SP e seus padrinhos mágicos Lucas e Bruna, e os cinco gatos que temos, Maria, Zeus, Miah, Napoleão e Niko Pitico estão mto ansiosos pela sua chegada, todo dia e toda hora perguntam de você, estamos lhe aguardando ansiosos, pra sentir seu cheirinho, te dar colo, amor, tete e tudo de bom que você merece. Suas coisinhas estão prontas, as roupas estão lavadas e com cheiro de bebê maravilhoso, o berço tá montado ao lado da cama da mamãe e do papai, vai ficar pertinho da gente, a bolsa maternidade tá só esperando você, a cômoda e tudo que você vai precisar eu e papai já providenciamos, tá tudo limpo, cheiroso e no lugar só esperando você!

Olha, hoje é terça e você tem até sábado pra vir, como te disse dia 23 sexta é uma data legal, tô muito ansiosa pra você chegar, com tudo pronto só te esperando!

Gostei muito de sentir você dentro de mim, muita coisa aconteceu nesse tempo, aprendi algumas coisas na marra tbm e você mudou minha percepção sobre muita coisa da vida. Quero ser uma pessoa melhor pra você, por você, quero que você tenha oportunidade de fazer e ser quem quiser, quero que mesmo com a família pequena, você tenha mamãe e papai presentes e felizes dentro de casa, te ensinando e guiando pra vida, quero que você veja o meu amor pelo papai todo dia, que veja o mundo colorido e tenha como desfrutar de tudo que o mundo possa nos proporcionar principalmente as coisas boas, que você seja fortão, saudável, carinhoso, educado, inteligente, com caráter, digno de tudo que Deus lhe proporcionar, que você seja feliz e realize seus sonhos desde pequenininho. Aprendi que sou muito forte por você, que nossa família será muito forte graças a você e somos oito mas nem parece né kkkk pq somos cinco gatinhos, você baby, a mamãe e o papai, então já somos uma família bem grande e lindona, vc vai amar!

Vou sentir sdds de vc soluçando, foi a coisa mais incrível que me aconteceu em todos esses tempos e de toda a gravidez, você soluçar foi a coisa mais guti guti que senti, vc mexeu bastante mas o soluço superou tudo, sentia Deus e sentia você como meu milagre e fez com que uma barreira da Scarlet de gelo fosse quebrada, você veio do seu jeitinho, na sua hora e mostrou muita coisa pra mta gente, inclusive mostrou como Deus é poderoso e grandioso.

Que nossa família se consolide forte, feliz, saudável e com tudo de bom que Deus possa nos proporcionar desde as pequenas coisas as grandiosas que só Ele é capaz de fazer por você, por mim, pelo papai e pela nossa família.
