Spring Fashions
As an avid...lets say "fashion collector" (aka shopper), I am subscribed to A LOT, and I mean a lot, of newsletters of various online and rl clothing stores. I only open about a half of those that I receive, but today I decided to open one from Market HQ as I was in dire need of a new handbag and thought I'd give them a go. However, after realising most of their accessories stock is very unappealing, I checked out their section entitled "Trend Spot; Spring Looks" to see if I could maybe find a cute cropped tee to go with my recently purchased Dissh pants.
Well, what I found certainly wasn't cute. A jumbled mix-mash of denim overalls and graphic patterns, bomber jackets and boots (hello? SPRING?), leopard print bodysuits and crocheted shawls was what I did find. The things is though, that the longer I looked at these "looks" the more I started to realise that it wasn't the clothes themselves that sucked, but the styling. If you pull apart each look and just take one statement piece (The Great Divide Wrap Skirt from "Always a Dreamer" $69), pair if with simple accessories and stick to no more than 3 colours (same shade) than you would have a pretty cool overall outfit. Honestly, I don't know who is in charge of their online styling department, but they need to go! Simplicity is always best, especially when it comes to fashion for young girls ( you can find the collection at http://shopmarkethq.com/collections/spring-looks/?looks=true&whatsnew=true)
As vain as it may seem, I still believe that learning how to dress yourself appropriately and to suit your body shape is a vital part of growing up, not just for young girls, but also for boys. Your appearance can change the way you feel about yourself and in turn, how others feel about you.
If you really enjoy eccentric fashions but aren't quite sure how to pull them off, I suggest, instead of wearing a floral shirt and chequered pants paired with doc martens and a slew of layered bracelets pick the one item you like the most. Take that one item and make it stand out. So for example, you want to make your Great Divide Wrap Skirt from Market HQ stand out, pair it with an understated (and perhaps pastel) cropped singlet or tee, light-looking sandals or espadrilles and a floppy sunhat for a perfectly care-free Spring Look. If you make your favourite item pop, you will pop in turn!
