Dear President Biden,
We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine.
We ask that, as President of the United States, you call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost. More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.
We urge your administration, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them.
We believe that the United States can play a vital diplomatic role in ending the suffering and we are adding our voices to those from the US Congress, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, The International Committee of The Red Cross, and so many others. Saving lives is a moral imperative. To echo UNICEF, “Compassion — and international law — must prevail.”
As of this writing more than 6,000 bombs have been dropped on Gaza in the last 12 days — resulting in one child being killed every 15 minutes.
“Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel Wednesday afternoon, shutting down electricity, water and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines…. The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” – UNICEF spokesperson, James Elder
Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity. We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed.
We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing. As Emergency Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told UN News, “History is watching.”

Salem's Inner Circle
Miltiades: This place does, like, everything!
Melanie: Research and development, cover undertakings, agent training, scams, shams, and oh damns! This is where the evil magic happens.
Miltiades: Every door here is for one evil or another! (Opens door)
Hound: STOP!
Miltiades: Oops! Uh, this is, like, the men's room.
Hound: LADY!
---------------------------------------------------
Melanie: (Opens door)
Junior: (Sits up from bed, Women draping) Whoa whoa whoa! This isn't what it looks like!
Mercury: (Covers eye) Wrong room again!
Melanie: No, this is the right door. This is the BTC, Blackmail Training Center. These women are Salem's agents, and the man is one of the training instructors.
Miltiades: The job I apply for, like, every year, and get immediately rejected.
---------------------------------------------------
Miltiades: This is the SAC, also known as the Surgical Atleration Center.
Melanie: Here, after multiple surgeries, agents are altered to look like and take the ace of the world's most powerful people.
Cinder: Mark Fishback? You made a guy into Markivider?
Miltiades: Like, who could refuse Markivider? He's the Emperor of Ten Days of Timmy's!
Melanie: And he got Jacks Blackstone onto his show! Try to top that, smartass!
---------------------------------------------------
Melanie: This is the HTC, Hypnosis Training Center. Here, we train agents in the art and methods of performing sleep induction.
Cinder: Pfft! Hypnosis doesn't really work.
Watts: (Casts hand out) SLEEP!
Cinder/Mercury: (Collapse, Snooze)
---------------------------------------------------
Melanie: And in here is- OH CRAP!
Corgi: (Chewing kibble, Growls)
Miltiades: Oh, relax! This is just the HTC, the Holographic Training Room! See? (Steps in) Who's a good-
Corgi: (Snarls)
Miltiades: Uh, actually, I think this is the VATC. (Backs away)
Melanie: The Violent Animal Training Center? Okay, let's just... back away... slowly...
Miltiades: Nice doggie... Good doggie... (Shuts door) Like, I told you we should label these doors!
---------------------------------------------------
Melanie: And finally, we have reached the Salem's Inner Circle Key Operations Center!
Mercury: Also known as the "SICK OC"?
Miltiades: What? No. Why would we call it that?

When Optimus Prime puts out the call you know I'm going to answer,
The seventh film in the film series and the 2nd best film out of them all.
Tumblr media
Helmed by Steven Caple Jr. (CREED II) this second installment of the prequel series takes place in 1994, seven years after the events of BUMBLEBEE. Unlike BUMBLEBEE which I found to be lighter fare (still enjoyable), TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS harkens back to the intensity of the Michael Bay installments, but is in the sweet spot where it still has great action but doesn't lean into the excesses that Bay tends to indulge in from a confusing and mind-numbing mass of action to his ever-increasing runtimes (this one taps out at a breezy 124 minutes).
Great characters human, Autobots and Maximals alike.
Tumblr media
SPOILERS FOR TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS, ROLL OUT
THE GOOD
*The energy and pace is fantastic. It digs in quick with the Maximals and the Terrorcons, let us know the villainy we're facing (Scourge taking and wearing the Autobot shields from his kills was A++)
Tumblr media
and quickly establishes the human protagonists. No dawdling on that front. And the use of back-to-back 90s east coast rap really drove home the sense of time for the film. Just hit, after hit after hit that help boost the vibe of the film.
*With his hilarious Peacock series BUPKIS and his voicework in this, Pete Davidson is seemingly entering his less annoying era. I loved Mirage's banter with Noah.
Tumblr media
*I liked seeing a less than capable Optimus Prime. He's been the sure-footed leader for so long and we get to see him beaten down and of broken spirit from being stuck on Earth. This is a Optimus who has lost his spirit and I like that Optimus Primal reinforces those concepts, and introduces the concept of unity with humans to Prime.
'TIL All Are One.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*We've had the human allies of course but to actually see one don battle armour and fight and not just be used as a decoy??!!!
At the end I assumed Michael Kelly's character would be from Sector 7 (the organization John Turturro's TRANSFORMERS character worked for. I even thought, "Is this dude joining the Transformers Initiative? What is this?"
But G.I. Joe?!!!! Noah is a Real American Hero!
And while he uses the code name Sonic as a shout to Sonic the Hedgehog, maybe it has the double meaning of Noah now being a G.I Joe Sonic Fighter.
Tumblr media
Anthony Ramos, you fumbled Jasmine Cephas Jones but you didn't fumble this role.
Tumblr media
THE BAD
*No notes
THE REST
*I think Dominique Fishback has a great personality but her acting leaves a lot to be desired and not just in this film. She's very uneven in her work. Sometimes you can see the promise, but more often -and too often in this film - she's wooden.
The way this scene isn't even in the film.
Tumblr media
I would still like to see her back. My hope is that they do a bigger time jump than 7 years and assemble the human allies from across the films.
*If you're in it because you are a fan of BEAST WARS you may be disappointed. We spent too little time with the Maximals. It's the price of having a moderate runtime. I can't think of anything in the film that I would have wanted jettisoned in order to get more time with the Maximals, though. Shame because their designs were fantastic, especially Cheetors and when they transformed out of their animal forms to fight.
Tumblr media
*Mirage tells Noah that Marky Mark left the Funky Bunch, but as Mark Wahlberg plays Cade in two TRANSFORMERS films does that mean Cade walks around being mistaken for Mark Wahlberg?

FFXIVWrite Day 10: Extra Credit
Old man yaoi continues.
Large bay windows at the back of the room and a crystal lamp hanging from the ceiling were the only sources of light for the captain's cabin. Its earlier owner had been presumably dragged off the brig after he'd signed his ship over to Novv - there was a tiny splotch of blood on the floor, just enough that would make a man rethink his principles. In the middle of the cabin sat a large mahogany table, finely carved at its legs, and several books of accounts were strewn across it. Off to one side, a bed built into the ship's wall was covered in bright silk pillows and a quilt.
The only other occupant of the room stood silhouetted by the light from the windows. He was wearing what were probably the captain's spare clothes, since he'd come aboard in his underthings - linen trousers were cinched tight to his waist and ballooned outward from his legs, and the shirt hung large and loose enough to be a maiden's frock. The glinting topaz of his eyes said 'cornered animal waiting to strike'.
"Novv says y'wanted to thank me, or some shite like that?" The Limsan drawl was strong in his voice. Almost too strong.
"Yes–"
"Well, it weren't done for your sake. It was just good business practice."
Edmont's eyes darted down the man's body, across the copper skin marred by scars and tattoos. The sun, the thirst, the fear, all of it seemed to be falling on him at once and he was struggling to make his brain work.
"That tattoo of yours," he said, seizing upon the first matter to hand. "The one with the circle surrounded by flames. There was a gentleman at the resort who had that same marking, he said he'd earned it fighting during the Calamity. You were there?"
The man snorted. "Aye, I was there. I fought at Carteneau Flats, holding the line until the last moment. Even had to carry off one of my fellow pirates because she couldn't take the time to stop slitting throats even after Merlweyb called for a retreat. Our people fought harder than any other there. Your people on the other hand, couldn't be arsed."
"True. And we paid the price for it, did we not? The icy hand of Halone clamping down upon the whole of Coerthas, crushing it in her grip in eternal winter as punishment for our cowardice."
"As if I give a damn what Halone thinks." The man looked down to rummage in the desk's drawer, pulling forth a green glass bottle and a loose tin cup. He poured a glass of dark liquid for himself, offering nothing to Edmont.
"While we're on the subject of tattoos, I'd like to have you cast your eyes over this one." He pulled up the loose sleeve as he raised the cup up to his lips, showing a dark image on the underside of his forearm. The faded ink was crude and Edmont had to squint to realize it was a clumsy imitation of a Sahagin head.
"Got that one for the first time I spilled fishback blood, long before I made captain. This strip of skin was one of the prices Novv requested for his services - not that I'm much attached to it, but once we're finished here I'll be much less attached to it." He raised his cup in a mocking salute and downed it in two gulps. "In case you were thinking old Novv was a soft touch."
"All the more reason to thank you personally, for such a sacrifice," Edmont said quietly, his eyes watching the weathered tattoo.
The cup slammed down on the tabletop. "Let's stop playing games, Edmont. You know who I am, and I know you know it."
Edmont's hand found the armrest of a nearby chair, and carefully settled himself into it. He could feel exhaustion coming up at him like a wave up the shore, and battled it back down. "Carvellain de Durendaire," he said quietly. "Heir by blood to the head of House Durendaire, and lost these past twenty summers."
"It's 'de Gorgagne', now," Carvellain said, pouring himself another shot from the bottle.
"Gorgagne?"
Carvellain chuckled. "My old bodyguard. The one who was supposed to be nannying me the day I jumped ship. I was fourteen, it was the first name I could think of."
"You know your father stripped him of his position for losing you. He left the knighthood entirely."
"Perhaps he should have kept a better watch on his charges, then." Carvellain stared into the contents of the cup, swirling it about. He was clenching the sides so hard they were nearly starting to dent.
"I'm not going back. I want that known from the start, you hear? You can keep your Fury and your inheritance and your bloody cold, drafty church. I've worked too swiving hard and built too damn much to let some stuffy old man I've got the bad luck to be kin to drag me away from it. And if he's getting ideas about it I'll put him over the side and see how Halone fares against every sea monster the Navigator has in her bestiary."

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Review SPOILERS
Just got out of the cinema and needed to get thoughts on digital paper.
It's a really enjoyable watch. It manages to tread the balance between the more heartfelt, but action-light, "Bumblebee" and the more shooty-bang-bang Bayverse films. To quickly touch on that: while - Unicron aside - there's nothing really explicit that prevents ROTB from being part of the Bayverse, but it ultimately raises more questions if it is. They do throw a cheeky put down to those who might like to think so though by directly referencing Mark Wahlberg's intention to become an actor. While it wouldn't be the first film to reference an actor that was also in the same series, it does feel like a deliberate attempt to put a nail in the coffin of the "not a reboot" theory.
The film opens with a neat prologue, as I think every Transformers film has, this time narrated by Optimus Primal, rather than Prime, giving a quick introduction to Unicron and Scourge, also providing a devastating look at what they can do. This sets the tone for the film moving forward, as well as indicates it's approach to its plot. The stakes are clear, everyone's motivations defined, and the interpersonal relationships are what hold the film together.
It speaks to ROTB's strengths that it is a trim two hours and maintains a consistent pace throughout, it doesn't linger too long, nor rush through and manages to maintain momentum even when they start to delve into the macguffin search.
The film also gives perhaps the highest percentage of bot screen time across the franchise. Mirage and Optimus take the lion's share of the screen time, Bumblebee (rightly) is given a bit of a rest this film, with Mirage stepping into the human best friend role. Pete Davison voices Mirage with an infectious humour and manages to avoid forcing the comedy angle too much. Optimus by contrast is more brooding than ever, unsure of himself and much less friendly towards humankind. Each of the remaining Autobots get time to shine too and are fleshed out well enough to be more than just action props. Sadly the same cannot be said for half the Maximals. While Optimus Primal and Airazor are given a fair amount of screen time and feel fully realised, Cheetor and Rhinox have less than a literal handful of lines between them.
"Beast Wars" fans will likely be disappointed by their all too brief action sequences, but Primal is definitely done justice in terms of his character, getting a few reflective moments with Prime. The wonky time travel aspect of "Beast Wars" is retained as well, surprisingly, though paid only brief lip service - Primal confirms he is named after Optimus Prime and thus comes from Prime's future, though via the Transwarp key (aforementioned macguffin du jour) the Maximals travelled back in time to early Earth history. Aside from this and Primal's cry of "Maximise!", however, there are no sly nods to "Beast Wars" and anyone looking them will be sorely disappointed. That said, they are treated with far more respect and time than the Dinobots in "Age of Extinction" and are at least more than mindless brutes.
Despite my 90's kid gripings, the action sequences are still very impressive and while the final battle against hordes of enemies feels less personal than the smaller scale skirmishes, it does provide a lot of fan-pleasing moments.
The human characters also surprised me. What struck me straight away was the benefits of having black and latino actors as the leads. The shift in perspective is immediately apparent: Sam and Charlie from the Trilogy and "Bumblebee" respectively both need a car to gain independence. Anthony Ramos' Noah needs a job so he can pay his brother's crippling medical debt and also try and keep a roof over their heads. Dominique Fishback's Elena is desperately trying to keep her job as an intern and fighting for recognition while her (white) boss takes credit for all her work. The dichotomy of circumstances is clear and having characters who are actually struggling just to get by, rather than "first world problems" makes for a more compelling narrative, to the point where midway through the movie, Noah and the Autobots' goals end up at odds. It's a move that makes sense for the character as well as creating real reasons for division. Optimus doesn't trust Noah, so why should he trust Optimus? The ultimate (cliché) message of the movie comes down to the importance of overcoming differences to work together using the arc words straight from G1 "Til all are one".
It's cheesy and a bit on the nose, but it works in its favour, a sentence that more or less sums up the film as a whole.

Pete Davidson and Chase Sui Wonders Involved in Beverly Hills Car Crash Pete Davidson and his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders have reportedly been involved in a car crash this past weekend.First reported by TMZ, Davidson was allegedly behind the wheel late Saturday evening when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle “which hopped a curb” and ran into a fire hydrant and the side of a residential home in Beverly Hills. The same report claimed that the speed the car was being driven led to the vehicle “dragging across the lawn and leaving skid marks on the grass.”Police confirmed to PEOPLE that the Saturday Night Live alum was in the car when the 11PM crash was reported but did not disclose whether or not Davidson was behind the wheel when the accident occurred or if Wonders was in the vehicle with him.According to Lt. Christopher Coulter of the Beverly Hills Police Department, “[a]n accident report was taken for city property damage.” There have yet to be any reports of injuries sustained by any party involved.A few hours before the car crash, Davidson made a surprise appearance at the 2023 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards to promote his upcoming movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, set for release this summer, alongside castmates Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos.Davidson, whose past girlfriends include Ariana Grande, Emily Ratajkowski and Kim Kardashian, was first romantically linked to Wonders in December when the two were spotted at a New York Rangers game together with fellow Bodies Bodies Bodies co-star Rachel Sennott. The two had starred in the A24 thriller together but only began sparking dating rumors earlier this year when Davidson and Wonders were spotted getting cozy in a restaurant in Brooklyn. Since then, the pair have been seen holding hands at Universal Studios Hollywood and vacationing in Hawaii. Wonders is even expected to appear in Davidson’s upcoming Peacock series Bupkis.Photo via Getty/ Chris Graythen https://www.papermag.com/pete-davidson-chase-wonders-accident-2659511502.html

NEXT SHOW:
DECEMBER 27TH
ART BOP BEER CO.
TALENT, OR
Tumblr media
Blood Jacuzzi (Ashland/Eugene/Portland, OR) fuses death metal drumming with indie vocals and raw energy to create a genre-bending sound that’s both brütal and heartfelt. What began as a two-piece project between middle school friends Derrick Young (drums) and Billy King (guitar/vocals) has since evolved into an exuberant collective with Zach Lunte (bass), Mickey Fishback (keys), and contributions from Hunter Moore (drums). Known for their theatrical live shows—complete with fake blood and inventive skits—Blood Jacuzzi blends humor, vulnerability, and blistering performance. Billy King’s lyrics, laced with wit and emotion, explore themes of personal struggle and celebrating differences, while the band’s electrifying chemistry makes every show an immersive experience.
Tumblr media
Their upcoming album marks an evolution in sound, infusing techno drum beats into their mix and exploring bold new themes—humanity’s relationship with nature, the clash between god and technology, and the art of skateboarding. Audiences leave Blood Jacuzzi shows feeling both entertained and emotionally engaged, drawn in by the band’s infectious energy and creative stagecraft.

In addition to promoting C4P on Instagram, I also wanted to share the letter released by Artists4Ceasefire:
Dear President Biden, We come together as artists and advocates, but most importantly as human beings witnessing the devastating loss of lives and unfolding horrors in Israel and Palestine. We ask that, as President of the United States, you and the US Congress call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost. More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians. We urge your administration, Congress, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay – an end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. To echo UNICEF, “Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” As of this writing more than 6,000 bombs have been dropped on Gaza in the last 12 days - resulting in one child being killed every 15 minutes. "Children and families in Gaza have practically run out of food, water, electricity, medicine and safe access to hospitals, following days of air strikes and cuts to all supply routes. Gaza’s sole power plant ran out of fuel Wednesday afternoon, shutting down electricity, water and wastewater treatment. Most residents can no longer get drinking water from service providers or household water through pipelines.... The humanitarian situation has reached lethal lows, and yet all reports point to further attacks. Compassion — and international law — must prevail.” – UNICEF spokesperson James Elder Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity. We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed. We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing. As Emergency Relief Chief Martin Griffiths told UN News, “History is watching.”

I'd heard so much about the celebs and creatives who signed that letter in support of Israel which totally ignored the plight of Palestinians in favor of promoting Zionist talking points -- to the point where I didn't even know about the Artists4Ceasefire counter letter.
I know in the grand scheme of things, these letters are mostly performative gestures. I don't know how many on this list are actively promoting the Palestinian cause as individuals with far-reaching platforms... but it's a far cry from the appalled disappointment I felt scrolling down that first letter.
I saw your tags about trying to compile a list of celebs who support Palestine and a pretty decent source is the celebrities4palestine Instagram account🫶🏾
Thank you so much!!
