Sitting in the car in November

You're in the passenger seat and it's dark and it's November and the first Christmas lights are up.

The city switched to led so it's blue and white and blue and white and blue. It smells like winter and gasoline and bonfire and onion rings and weed. Your sister drives with the windows down, but you have the seat warmer and the thick sweatshirt you bought yourself from the college bookstore as a graduation present so you don't mind. First George Michael, then Mariah Carey play on the radio. She brakes suddenly, and your teeth bump a spot on your lip that is going to turn into a canker sore. Everything is neon and suvs and pot holes and it's 50 degrees but you think there might be snow soon. Call it midwestern intuition.

These nights remind you of ones twenty years ago when nothing was familiar yet. You miss them in an abstract way. Adrift at 26, clawing at the air like vapor will save you, you think that one last nap in a too-warm December car seat might be the thing to tether your soul back to your body. Harry Styles and The Most Difficult Time of the Year!

It's here! The first one-shot for my Holiday Spectacular.

“Lovie, we’ve been at this for hours, are you done yet?” H asked me. H as in Harry Styles, my boyfriend, who is being a very good sport while helping me with my Christmas Shopping.

“I’d be closer to being done if you would actually tell me what you want for Christmas H.” I reply in a slightly snarky manner as ive been attempting to get my answer to this question out of him since September.

“All I want for Christmas is You, baby.” H said back.

“Mariah Carey? Seriously H?” I say before turning into a kitchenware stall at the Christmas Market, and selecting a bells with holly cookie cutter for my mother. I’ve been giving her one every year since I was 6 and she let me help her make the sugar cookies. “Now I just need something for your mum,” I say after tucking the cookie cutter into the bag with the gifts for my dad, sister, and brother.

“I already have our gift for my mum.” H says to me, and quite matter of factly at that. “Now come on, let's get some cocoa to go, I wanna wrap you up, tie you in a bow, and put you under the Christmas tree for me.” You both laugh at that.

A few hours later, you've finally returned from the market and are getting your big wrapping station set up in your art room. It's huge. Big enough for quite literally every medium of art you do. Harry was happy to adjust his renovation plans when you agreed to move in with him just shy of a year ago. There are only two things in this lower level, your art room, and Harry's Studio. The music softly making its way through the sound panels for the instruments and that first croon Harry does. Though lately, Harry has been having the sound proofing on so nothing goes beyond his studio walls. And whenever you ask him about it his answer is the exact same, “You'll hear it one day Lovie, it is for you after all. Not until that one day though, there will be no spoilers.” That last line is your favorite because he glares at his mates, Mitch and Kid especially since he knows you're pretty close with them.

Now as Harry is chilling in the lounge chair in your art room singing acoustic Christmas songs while you wrap gifts, you stop every so often and turn to him.

“H, I need the present for your mum so I can wrap it.” You say and he just smiles at you before getting himself back into the song.

Finally after hours of wrapping, Anne's gift is the only one left and you still don't have it.

“Harold Edward Styles, I need the gift for your mum, NOW!” You give him your best death glare, hoping it will scare him at least a little bit, after all, you're no fun when you're mad.

He runs over to the studio and comes back with a little black wooden ring box with Le Raoulivere engraved into it. He sets it in your hands and you open it automatically.

“It's empty H.”

“Mum's old one for the ring from Robin broke, so we're getting her a very, very nice new one.” H says and I go to wrap it in the blue snowflake paper I have when h interrupts again. “Can you use the sleeping puppies wearing Santa hats one instead please love?” He asks very politely and you just sigh before wrapping it up in the paper Harry wanted.

“Thank you my love!” He says with a kiss when the bin is all packed up with the presents.

December 24th

We're all dressed up. Harry has on his suit he hugged Stanley Tucci in at the Brits. You're in a midi silver dress with white Mary Janes and a small white clutch. The house is decorated, the presents are under the tree, the appetizers are in the ovens, and the doorbell is ringing. Plenty of time to calm down and not freak out. Shit wait, that's the doorbell.

“They're here H.” You holler and run over to let everyone in. “Merry Christmas Eve!”

Your family and H’s family are both here. Your mum, Dad, sister, and brother, Anne, Desmond, Gemma and Michal, Mike and Amy were invited, but had other plans. Everyone mingled with appetizers while you and Harry prepped the lasagnas. When they were done you all sat around the table smiling and laughing with each other. After dinner you turned on the fireplace and some soft tunes while doing gifts. When Anne unwrapped the one from you and Harry, she just smiled at you. It was a bit confusing at first, until the music switched. Harry was suddenly more anxious, and everyone else was just watching the two of you.

“What's going on?” You whispered to Harry. He smiled, pulled you over to stand in front of the Christmas tree with him, and said, “Y/N.”

You instinctively replied, “Yes H?”

“Y/N, it's the title of this song.” He answered back and let the lyrics wash over you both. You realized they were telling the story of the two of you, from colliding in a rainstorm, to you having almost no clue who he was, the time you spent apart, and him showing up at your doorstep soaking wet from rain ready to do whatever it took to get you back, and finally his little dreams for the life ahead of you two. The last line of the song was, “All you have to do is say yes to me.”

He knelt before you, took the box from Anne, and pulled the ring out of his pocket. “Mum's been on my case lately, she knew I wanted to marry you before I did. So our real gift to her, only if you want it too, is us, because all I want for Christmas is you to agree to be my wife. I love you Y/N.”

“I love you too H. And yes, yes I want to be your wife!” You let out between tears.

After sliding the ring onto your finger, H kisses you and whispers, “best Christmas ever.”

“I made you a new pendant.” You whispered back.

“I'll love it, but even more so because it's from you.”

LEE JANG-MI was born on july 15th, 1997 in busan, south korea to DAVID OKOYE and LEE CHUN JA. the former was a former olympic swimmer and united nations diplomat who hailed from one of the wealthiest families in nigeria. the latter was one of asia’s most well known singers, as well as an actress and a former beauty queen, and she also happened to be a SAMSUNG heiress. shortly after jang-mi was born, she and her parents moved to seoul in order to be closer to her maternal grandparents. the family would spend most of their time there, although they would briefly reside in london, as well.

despite the family’s picture perfect life, tragedy would strike a mere nine months following jang-mi’s birth. in may 1998, they would travel to italy to celebrate chun ja’s 31st birthday, which fell on the 25th. just four days later, however, both of jang-mi’s parents found themselves in a devastating car accident. unfortunately, the accident took both of their lives. chun ja was pronounced dead at the scene, while david fell into a coma, and later succumbed to his injuries a day later. jang-mi and her grandparents were quick to return to korea, and she was left in their care as her parents’ sudden deaths made international news.

up until jang-mi’s first birthday, she was raised by her grandparents and occasionally by her aunt, lee chaewon. however, her grandparents were already retired, and the grief of losing their eldest daughter and son-in-law made it hard for them to properly raise their granddaughter. chun ja’s youngest sister, bae eun-ji, already had a family of her own, and she was unsure if she could split her time amongst three children who were all under the age of five. meanwhile, although chaewon was unmarried, she was almost always working, and she didn’t want to leave jang-mi in the care of a nanny most of the time. and on top of that, her paternal grandparents resided in nigeria. as a result, jang-mi was regrettably put up for adoption. after a few months in a foster home, she was eventually adopted by a couple from southern california. she was given an english name, cecilia, and her middle names were taken from what her parents wanted to name her (chiara), her mother’s own english name (cynthia), and the meaning of her birth name (rose). and although the world knew of jang-mi’s existence, no one would know what became of her for the next seventeen years.

from then on, jang-mi was raised in california along with her older sister, who was also adopted. she grew up with a particular passion for music, and frequently listened to artists such as WHITNEY HOUSTON, MARIAH CAREY, DESTINY’S CHILD, AALIYAH, ASHANTI, AMERIE, ERYKAH BADU, THE SUPREMES, S.E.S, WONDER GIRLS, SNSD, KARA, 2NE1, MISS A, and LEE HYORI. at the age of fifteen, jang-mi began posting song covers and the occasional original song onto youtube. she began working at a nanette lepore boutique a year later, but shortly after she started her job, she was cast off the street by a representative of IMG MODELS, and was encouraged to enter an open casting call. although jang-mi failed to get a job, she managed to work her way into advertisements and editorials.

jang-mi sang ALICIA KEYS’ “no one” at the final round, and to her surprise, she passed auditions. she signed a 2-year contract with YG, and as a result, she had to quit her job, place her modeling career on hold, and move to south korea. she didn’t stop posting to her youtube channel, however, using it to record her progress as a trainee. jang-mi trained alongside the future members of BLACKPINK, and was actually meant to be one of the group’s members, renowned for her powerful vocals. while training, she had background vocals on the songs of other YG artists, wrote songs for them and what would become BLACKPINK’s discography (including the “WHISTLE” demo and “PLAYING WITH FIRE”), and had small roles in a few dramas. jang-mi was particularly hard working during her time as a trainee, and would even spend her days off in dance studios or at karaoke. however, a year into her trainee, she began having doubts, particularly about how she would be received in a country such as south korea. those doubts turned into stress, and it forced jang-mi to leave the company. returning home, she felt as if she had accomplished nothing.

jang-mi’s brief depressive state after leaving YG only pushed her to work harder, however. after returning to california, she didn’t return to her job, and instead focused most of her time on music and getting into university. in september, she was contacted by record label FUELED BY RAMEN, but she declined their contract offer, as it made her feel better to have control over the earliest aspects of her career. jang-mi formed the band ROSES ‘N THORNS with some of her high school friends, began uploading her original work to SOUNDCLOUD, and immediately started working on what would be her debut album.

in mid-october, jang-mi’s debut single “REWIND” would be released, and her album of the same name would drop at the beginning of november. going by the name LIA WILLIAMS, she spent her time touring across california in small venues and performing at local music festivals. in january 2016, however, a representative from INTERSCOPE RECORDS would attend one of jang-mi’s concerts. she was told about a potential record deal with the label, and just days later, she was singing her music in front of executives in INTERSCOPE’s headquarters. and instead of taking a month like she expected, jang-mi was signing a deal within a couple of hours, with JIMMY IOVINE reportedly saying that no one could leave until she was signed. and immediately afterwards, jang-mi got to work on her major label debut album, FRUITS OF MY LABOR, which would go on to catapult her into mainstream success.

This place is crazy , so many people I've told stories about Hollywood and what it's like that you get people just shooting up on the street so smoking cracked and meth , that people are just wondering around aimously and in mental States and that it's not unusual to see bodies dead bodies scary hey, Hollywood in the last few years I believe as well as other massive homeless epidemic and a lot of people who started off out there has to have ended up in other places such as Texas Nashville or New York or many other places, you see what it does to celebrities and how it changes them so quickly people like Beyonce is a perfect example I always say who is a Christian girl supposedly who came from Texas and her dad gave up her career as a kind of Joe Jackson figure in her life and became the manager he even said how white axe got the way more Than Black acts and how it was very racist in the industry, Michael Jackson used to say this about Tommy matola and called him the devil, this is the man who is married to Mariah Carey who is like 20 years his junior at the time he met her at a party and she gave him a tape of her singing, he was responsible for her early career and was the head at Sony. Then you get young party girls and groupies and models who want to make it out there and when they make it out there they become a hooked on drugs with eating disorders and really depressed they have this distorted image of themself because they've been told such bad things, Bobby Jean Brown Tommy Lee's girlfriend when he got with Pam Anderson they don't talk about this but they were together for like 18 months before he got married to pamela on the beach a few weeks later, then because Tommy Lee had a feud with the builder at their home he came in and took their safe and release their sex tape on the internet it wasn't one of these Kim Kardashian ones where the mum was her pimp it literally was taken from their home and was their personal honeymoon video I believe, if we're going to be honest I'm sure Pam has a sex tape with Brett Michaels before she even got with Tommy, not that makes it right for this material to believe in released even if this woman was very sexually in the price it doesn't matter that's a perfect personal private business and what they do in their own time should be their personal business and their thing.

Then you have people like Drew Barrymore and Nicole Richie two girls who are very similar I believe and a Hollywood's children that start with Nicole she was at a prince concert when she was a really little girl and she was like playing with instruments backstage and with her family I think her father was in the band possibly, and the mum took these places that weren't very suitable for her soon she was in the care of Lionel Richie and his wife, and they really fell for and looked after her seeing the ended up having half a longer than they were meant to and she was adopted by them later and said how much she was loved by both of them. Then you have Drew Barrymore who is a famous Hollywood family she is from a famous Hollywood family this is the girl who was doing drugs from so young you can see pictures of studio 54 when she is like eight years old well her mom was partying she let her daughter do whatever she wanted and was getting sober at the age of 14, most people you know don't even start drugs by that age if they do but she was in this world and it was just became normal to her she's very nice person it from what we're seeing.

But Hollywood seems to be a drug on its own we've seen many times over Harvey Weinstein Jeffrey Epstein the island the Lonely to express all the scary things that you would see and roseme's baby or eyes Wide Shut I really believe that these things that happen you have seen it time and time again and people are questioning it still even when the story Remains the Same it's quite terrifying to believe that this is all true and you can even think your favorite celebrity has probably had connections to it in some way or another even if they were as touched at the Epstein flight logs it doesn't necessarily I don't think mean that they went to the island for whatever I think it just means that maybe they use the plan I'm not too sure and I don't think we will ever know that the degree that maybe we should. Then you have people like Mark latia, who has a YouTube channel called soft white underbelly where he talks to drug addicts, prostitutes, pimps, PDF files, Runaways, War veteran's and many other kinds of people most of which are on the Hollywood strip or figaroa it has been attached now to quite controversial things one of which was a girl who had been on these channel many times, she was a crack addict who'd been abused by her dad and she spoke about it many times on the channel then there is this woman called Lena who ran some kind of rehab center where you were visual devices where you are faced with your addiction in a room,. The side part of this is she was getting clean and doing alright people for and there was updates on this they even had the dad on the channel who is supposedly the one who molested her sat with this woman, and this rehab Center where she had these visual aids a woman who was mentally ill and it made her very unwell and she ended up dying when not too sure of the cause of death and let's face it we don't even get told the proper cause of death a lot of the time .

And a lot of people felt that Mark wanted someone who is the most fucked up on his channel to go to this centre with this woman to make money and make profits and make views very sad rest in peace.

Then you get people like Julia Roberts there have been in the industry for fears and have been told that they're a bitch for many many years, this is one I actually believe but a lot of the women who have been called bitches I have a lot of respectful because these are ones who protect themselves and they get called this because they have looked after their self and their power and don't just expect anything last and good good on them if a man did they would be completely different and there will be calling his praises anyway this is just a little intro until some of the ways of Hollywood, there's also a lady called Angeline who is profit of looking like a Hollywood woman what you imagined big tits curvy body blonde big hair there's even a documentary series about I haven't seen it but it looks interesting and she makes money by with her interesting car and her interesting unique looks.

SOPHIA (bottom right): was born as kim yuna in lyon, france to french-chinese mother and a south korean father. she was a model who posed for child brands in france such as prep!, nouvelle vague, and mignon et plus. she was noticed by a talent scout during a fashion show and with this she revealed that she handmade her outfit for the show, for the theme was diy. with this talent it lead her to design the groups outifts and due to her bubbly & "it girl" like attitude lead her to be the center and visual of the group. she trained for 1 year underneath express yourself, joining the same time jenna did.

LUTHER: NEVER TOO MUCH | Filmmaker Dawn Porter | Documentary

When I look at the covers of these albums I get a good, warm feeling in my heart.  These were the songs I grew up on. My sister, LeVonne and I were Luther nutz! Seeing him in concert every time he stepped foot into Philly. We started being fans around the ages of 12 and 14. Even as a kid I realized my musical taste was rather mature, we loved the same artists Luther loved – Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Aretha. There’s nothing throwaway or bubble gum pop with these artists, and Luther had that same ability to create lasting, timeless music.  As big a fan as I was/am, I can’t say I really knew much about his personal life.  I mean it was always a question as to his being gay or straight, which is addressed in the doc. Philly’s own, Patti outs him, but his closest friends and collaborators, who he’d known since high school: Fonzi Thornton, Robin Clark, Carlos Alomar continue to respect his privacy on the matter.  If he was gay, and most-likely he was, it’s even sadder that he didn’t live long enough to say F*ck it!  I’m me and I love who I love.  But I do understand that his main concern was how his mother would react.  I feel like over half of my life decisions were based on what I thought my mother would say if I did this or that. Giving undo deference to a parent can keep you hovering low to the ground.

There’s plenty of performance clips, including when the NAACP Honored Dionne, and Luther serenaded her but good with “A House is Not A Home”. Niles Rodgers is interviewed, of course, is there a music doc that doesn’t call upon him to be a talking head? Another usual suspect is Music Journalist Danyel Smith, she’s funny when she talks about the difference between Motown and the Sound of Philly – “Motown is formality – we’re matching and in by midnight vs. Sound of Philly is come as you are and scream a bit”. How did I not know that Luther Vandross wrote “Can You See A Brand New Day” from The Wiz, what!?! And I either forgot or never knew about the devastating car accident that killed one of his close friends, which he pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and just barely avoided prison time. That seemed truly a breaking point in his life, triggering the returning weight, as he always admitted to being an emotional eater. As would be expected, a good bit of the doc covers the struggles he had with yoyoing weight and diabetes. It’s hard to think of him without the thoughts of fat Luther vs. thin Luther? But Porter’s overall theme is to capture his musical talent and the career goals he met before leaving us all too soon.

This part is not in the doc. but I found out the Luther Vandross Foundation, which provides financial assistance to students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), is managed by The Philadelphia Foundation!

The headcanons are based on watching family sitcoms and Venture Bros, so bare with me and my insanity.

They're close to twins. Melody is 12 was born less than a year before Calliope, who's 11 1/2.

Melody favors Ariel's appearance, but has black hair and Jim's blue eyes. Calliope favors Jim with a slightly lighter complexion, but has Ariel's brown eyes. But both girls have their father's thick brows and their mother's mole (Calliope's on her cheek, Melody's on her chin/near her lips).

They are both mischievous, aggressive, children. But Melody is usually the calm one when she's by herself.

Calliope wants to have a laser gun like Jim (who's now captain of the IG Navy) and Amelia, but of course a little kid shouldn't have one. Ariel compromised to ask Hephaestus to craft an arrow that shoots from her wrist and Melody carrying a spear.

Melody's mermaid tail resembles a gold fish. Calliope's tail resembles a lantern shark.

Unlike Ariel from TLM 2, my Ariel supports her children to travel to the sea. But only if she's with them until they're old and strong enough to defend themselves, hence why she asks the gods to make them weapons. However, the girls have a tendency to skip school or escape from B.E.N's supervision to travel and do crazy stunts. Their favorite is racing in the sea during a thunderstorm.

And, of course, they can sing angelically like their mother. I love Tara Strong's voice, but I can imagine Melody's singing voice is soft like a young Ashanti, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, or Aaliyah. But Calliope has a deeper, boulder voice like Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, or Kelly Rowland.

Because their voices are different, their music style is different. Melody sings calm and soothing, tranquil songs while Calliope sings fast-pace and passionate songs. Ex: Melody would do Anytime Anyplace by Janet Jackson. Calliope would do Before I Let Go by Beyonce.

Despite being talented demi-gods/princesses, they still act like normal children. They fight, rebel, act immaturely, and very hyper.
