Upon finally watching The Marvels, I have gathered two things:

1) Carol Danvers is essentially Monica Ranbeau's deadbeat lesbian father. (She and Maria are lesbians in my heart, okay?)

And

2) Kamala's family (including her) are allowed to do whatever they want and they deserve to.

9) Who cuts the others hair?

Carol has the genius idea that they can cut Monica’s hair. “Why pay someone 40 bucks when we can do it ourselves?” And the thing is, unlike Carol’s other ideas, Maria kinda gets on board. Monica is two years old, what could go wrong? The answer: A lot.

There is a solid 3 months of photos missing in Monica’s baby book.

10) Who cries during titanic and who keeps it in?

Maria’s the one who wants to go see it. She loves romantic movies and has been a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio since they saw Romeo + Juliet together. Carol isn’t really a fan, she prefers horror movies and thrillers, but she goes with Maria. Carol isn’t expecting to get so emotional. She finds herself holding back tears at the end. She looks over at Maria to see how she is holding up, and can’t help but chuckle at Maria who is sobbing.

11) Who is more likely to cheat?

It’s been six years.

Maria doesn’t think it would be considered cheating when Carol didn’t even remember her. Carol didn’t even know she was gay, so Maria expects that there were other people/aliens in Carol’s life. She can’t expect that someone as beautiful as Carol wouldn’t have any lovers.

Carol doesn’t see any unknown people in the photos on the mantel, nor does she see any extra clothes in the closet. It doesn’t mean that there was never another person in Maria’s life. There could have been someone she loved after Carol left, just like there was someone she loved before Carol.

They both haven’t started the conversation, one that they both needs to happen eventually.  

It’s Maria who broaches the subject.

“Was Yon-Rogg more than a mentor?” Maria asks one night when they’re seated on the couch watching Seinfeld.

“I would understand,” Maria continues,  “I, umm, I dated after you-when you were gone.”

“You did?” Carol says.

“Nothing serious. A few one night stands. There was this dentist for a while, six months, but it didn’t work out.”

“A dentist?” Carol  

“Dennis. He was nice. But he wanted something serious. it took me six months to decide that I didn’t.”

“But Yon-Rogg, you loved him?” Maria asks, getting back to her original question. She’s heard too much about him and also not enough.

Carol nods, “I wasn’t in love with him, but I did love him. He was the only one I felt knew me.”  

“I’m glad you had him,” Maria says, and she means it. Even if he did end up being the reason why Carol was taken from her. She’s glad Carol had someone when she couldn’t be there for her.  

“So...turning down a dentist. Your mother couldn’t have been happy,” Carol states.

Maria laughs, “Oh no. She was absolutely devastated. But Monica was happy she thought he was boring.”

“I bet he was.” Carol feels a surge of pride for favorite Lieutenant.

“Oh,100%. He had nothing on the bold, beautiful, courageous woman I knew in my heart I was still in love with.”

“I waited,” Maria says. She needs Carol to know this. That she didn’t, she couldn’t, just move on without her.

“I know,”

Carol kisses Maria, with tongue and passion. Maria lets Carol lean her backward onto the couch. Maria lets out a moan as Carol slides her hands under Maria’s shirt. Carol kisses down Maria’s neck. Screw Dennis Carol thinks as she sucks a hickey on Maria’s neck. She had Maria now.

Steve: So I hear you guys have a daughter

Carol and Maria: Yup!

Steve: So how old is she?

Carol: 180 months-

Monica, yelling from her room: Mom I’m 15!

Carol: I GOT A QUESTION!!

Maria: here we go again

Carol: if the number two pencil is the most used pencil in the world, then why is it number two?? HUH, HUUUUUUUHHH?? I NEED ANSWERS!!

Carol yelling at a library: Hey excuse me do you know where I can get some fries from!!?

Maria: Hey, Hey, no telling you’re in a library

Carol: Oh sorry

Carol,whispering: Do you know where I can get some fries?

Carol: How do you displent your bet rock?

Maria: Carol No-

Carol, trying not to laugh: Youuuuuu-

Maria: Danvers I’m warning you

Carol:....You hit rock bottom
