The Magicians, 4x09, "The Serpent"
Margo: I get it. It's a job for a tough bitch. So it has to be me.
Tick: Oh, thank you! I would have died.
Margo: Oh, please. … (going to Fen) Do it. Fen, do it. Overthrow me right the fuck now, Fen. Or I will never forgive you. And neither will Eliot if you keep me from getting the one thing that will save him.
Fen: … Excuse me. I need a word with the guard.
Tick: By order of High King Fen, Margo of Tribe Hanson is forever banished. Never again to step upon the soil of Fillory. Never again to breathe its air or feel its magic.
Margo: Oh, get on with it. Son of a pig-fucker!
Tick: Perfect words to remember you by.
Margo: Wait! I curse Fen's name. But if I were you I'd listen to her. And wait! Be nice to her. Your grandkids grandkids will fear me!
(I love Margo so much.)

Megara Character Parallels, aka queer coded mean girls
Heather Chandler (Heathers) A Mean Girl. Vain and selfish - likes to be in control and will ruin you if you cross her. Very little patience for stupidity, killer one-liners. Honestly just an Icon
“Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast? First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I’m always red.”
Theo Crain (The Haunting of Hill House) Literally the Worst at feelings. “A clenched fist with hair”. Says fuck way too much, also thinks she can fix everything. Has one (1) emotional outpouring per year.
“And I’m just floating in this ocean of nothing, and I wonder if this is it, if this is what death is, just out there in the darkness, just darkness and numbness and alone, and I wondered if that’s what she felt and that’s what mom feels, and its just numb and nothing and alone.”
Amy Elliot-Dunne (Gone Girl) Vengeful and cold. Playing the long game and probably has at least three plans to frame you for something. Knows how to craft herself into what people want and expect. Old Testament God vengeance. “You are a man. You are an average, lazy, boring, cowardly, woman-fearing man. Without me, that's what you would have kept on being, ad nauseam. But I made you into something. You were the best man you've ever been with me. And you know it. The only time in your life you've ever liked yourself was pretending to be someone I might like.”
Rosa Diaz (Brooklyn 99) Unknowable (TM), Actually a very supportive friend, knows most people’s secrets. Always armed. “You can’t let other people’s opinions get in the way of what you want, especially because other people suck.”
Josh Lyman (The West Wing) Human Disaster with a brilliant political mind, works in a constant state of panic. Repressed tragedy and trauma. “He goes through every day worried that somebody he likes is going to die and its going to be his fault. What do you think makes him walk so fast?” “President Bartlett’s a good man. He’s got a good heart. He doesn’t hold grudges. That’s what he pays me for”
Azula (Avatar the Last Airbender) Child soldier energy, repressing trauma through perfectionism. Low key about to breakdown at any given moment. Competitive sibling relationship that can get violent. Has absolutely had a crisis and cut her own bangs before. Coup by girlbossing. “Don’t flatter yourself. You were never even a player.”
Margo Hanson (The Magicians) THATS MY HIGH KING. Willing to do whatever it takes to keep her power. Loves very few people but would literally go to the ends of the earth to save them (wow how tragic that season four ended with episode 10?) A manipulative cunt. “But he didn’t tell you that the world makes you choose. You can be one of the smart ones or one of the pretty ones or even a strong one. But...try to be all three...you better learn to smile and shut up... Because the second you’re you, the second…” “I’m loud, pissed off, it's ‘what a bitch.’ ‘what a slut’ ‘who the fuck does she think she is?’” “So you never give them a chance. You hit first. And anyone dumb enough to hit back soon finds that there’s no hurting you, sheathed in all that hard, glossy armor.”
Beth Dutton (Yellowstone) Burn it all down to defend your home. Quite literally does not have a limit of what she’d do to protect those she loves. Desperate to prove herself to parental figures. “I subscribe to Neitzsche’s thoughts on right and wrong. He was a German philosopher who died of syphilis after he corn-holed some prostitute, so not exactly a life to model yours after, but his thoughts on right and wrong, good and evil... Which were: there’s no such thing. That, I believe. I believe in loving with your whole soul and destroying anything that wants to kill what you love. That’s it. That’s all there is.”

Sloane Andrieski x Margo Hanson headcanons
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Some of this is based off convos with @inhumanshadows
· Sloane and Margo met when Kady and Julia joined the hedge witches
· Sloane's older sister Marina took Julia under her wing while Sloane took Kady
· eventually they met Kady and Julia's friends and the moment Margo saw Sloane she wanted her
· Sloane was a knowledge student with a speciality in meta composition but secretly studied battle magic that she now teaches Kady
· Margo is absolutely floored by her "she's got beauty, brawns and brains, she's the total package"
· Sloane is constantly teasing Kady for her crush on Julia and Kady in return points out her blatant attraction to Margo
· the first time Margo sees her in a suit her brain short circuits
· Margo.exe has broken
· "I haven't been this turned on since the lady pirate"
· and then she saw the eyebrow raise and lip bite
· Margo "whoops there goes my pants"
· that's the first time they actually hook up
· Margo 110% simps for her and her only
· it doesn't take long for them to start regularly hooking up
· and when Sloane finally asks Margo to be official everyone is just like "wait you guys weren't already dating?"
· Marina gets on her nerves but Sloane loves her sister more than anything
· and then there's sibling rivalry moments where Sloane just has had too much of Marina’s crap
· Margo is not afraid of Marina at all "My girl's got this... And tonight she'll get all this" *motions to her body*
· Quentin “you just gestured to yourself?”
· "I will fight you Coldwater"
· Eliot stepping in "alright let's calm down Bambi and admire your gorgeous girlfriend instead"
· Sloane is always confused by Margo and Eliot's pop culture references
· And when Sloane asks Margo to watch Buffy with her she accidently blurts out she loves her
· "wow I've never said those words to anyone but Eliot before"
· "and all because i asked you to watch Buffy"
· "what did you expect? A hot woman wants to watch Buffy with me"
· "I love you too Margo"
· Sloane always has a book with her
· Margo will gift her first editions or specially bound books
· Sloane went down on her for hours after Margo got her one of Shakespeare's original manuscripts she may or may not had gotten off the black market
· they have a very active sex life
· the amount of times Marina has walked in on them at their shared penthouse
· "oh come on! It's bad enough Margo is way too comfortable here and walks around naked"
· Sloane doesn't go to Fillory often but she is there for Margo whenever she needs her
· and thanks to Sloane's smarts she can always get the gang out of a sticky situation
· Elliot "oh thank god, Bambi i might just kiss your girlfriend for saving our asses once again"
· Margo is dead set on making Sloane her queen and when new Fillory comes around she actually does
· "I've got this entire land to rule would you like to be my queen?"
· "I thought you'd never ask"

magicians finale rambling under the cut
- the only part of this episode that i WHOLLY reject is margo “screw your noble sacrifice” hanson trying to pull off a noble sacrifice in the worst way possible, complete with a weird shot of josh sadly waiting for her to come back LMAO OK IF U SAY SO MCNAMBLE
- seriously that whole sequence was so Bad. the eliot of it all was terrible. the citing q of it all was horrific. the only time i’ve felt true rage all season.
- let’s say i’m very glad she didn’t actally fucking die because JESUS
-  other than that... bro i literally can find Nothing to be justifiably enraged at gdhfjafgja it wasn’t Good but i also don’t care
- the Fen stuff was Excellent. The last scene was Excellent. Very into high king margo the creator. also let fargosh rise u cowards, was was the point of the fen/josh thing in 5.03 if not that!!!!!
- literally yelled when martin showed up i’m ???? again, ok, if u say so
- fr all i could think was jane in episode 2 being like “we can’t reset the timeline again to save q bc we killed the beast” WELL HE’S BACK NOW
- very glad they gave rupert a nice ending; it’s what he deserves and i was not looking forward to another queer character dying. seeing him and jane was :’)
- also why was the brief dark king/eliot romance even!!! a part of the season!!!!!! i didn’t love it and i’m glad it didn’t end up really being a thing in the end but there was literally No payoff so why?? was it there??
- similar questions about plum hgjsg i ended up invested in her in the end but unfortunately hyman played a bigger role in the plot this season than she did
- lots of gays are mad abt charlton which. valid i guess, but i’m mostly not lmao. see my tags on the last post, it doesn’t make any narrative sense and had no build up, but it was fucking Funny and honestly his line abt being an emotionally available person who knows and respects him or whatever was very satisfying to me esp when compared to where i thought they were going earlier in the season wrt the dark king. like damn there is no basis for this but at least it’s not That.
-i also just really fucking love charlton
- again i think all of the eliot romance weirdness would have been solved if they hadn’t done the time jump and idri was still around. love and miss u bb.
- not excessively mad abt eliot being alone like a lot of people are either because. i mean. obviously it sucks, but also clearly they were going to figure out how to get to them in the next season if they’d had it so Shrug i couldn’t really be assed.
- oh the other thing i was a little Annoyed with was santa’s speech to alice about how the world seed story was hers all along because 1) it really felt like a cop out for them not knowing how to give her a storyline that wasn’t tied to q, but still wanting to pretend they did 2) it also literally isn’t her story lmao it’s the culmination of q’s personal arc in the books, but feminism i guess, u go guys
- why is every baby on television named hope

My first solo art of Quentin is now posted along with Chapter 2, Reunion at the Physical Kids' Cottage, of "The First Duty of All Magicians Is to Save Their Friends"
Tumblr media
The First Duty of All Magicians Is to Save Their Friends (10289 words) by EliotQueliot Chapters: 3/6 Fandom: The Magicians (TV) Rating: Explicit Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Quentin Coldwater/Eliot Waugh, Quentin Coldwater & Margo Hanson & Eliot Waugh Characters: Eliot Waugh, Quentin Coldwater, Jane Chatwin, Margo Hanson Additional Tags: queliot, horomancy, Post-Mosaic Timeline (The Magicians: A Life in the Day), Fix-It, POV Eliot Waugh, Character Death Fix, Canonical Character Death, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Time Shenanigans, Grief/Mourning, Eventual Smut, Getting Together, Endgame Quentin Coldwater/Eliot Waugh Series: Part 2 of Horomancy, Bitches! (series) Summary:
"Remember when we were just students," Eliot said hoarsely, "nothing else, and this world was everything? And I'd watch Star Trek with you and Bambi…" and sometimes you and I would fall asleep on the couch, and wake up snuggled together…
Quentin, smiling back at him fondly, "Or I'd start out studying, but you'd keep pouring the drinks, and we'd just sit there on the sofa talking about whatever was on our minds. Just you and me, lots of times. Until the sun came up and you'd make breakfast..."
"I really missed you, Q," he breathed.
One side of Q's mouth quirked in a kind of painful smile. He squeezed Eliot's hand.
Notes:
We are now venturing back into Eliot's past! The Eliot in this chapter has no idea of the events that await in the future. Essentially, I am slotting this part into canon in Season 3.
This chapter starts out at the end of Season 3, Episode 4, "Be the Penny," and mostly takes place between 3x4 and 3x5. I also drew slightly from The Magicians (book 1) by Lev Grossman for this one.
Again, fear not. This story will end in a good place for Queliot. That is my raison d'être.

Posting Schedule
September 15
My Lonely Heart Calls
Quentin Coldwater is the youngest and hottest architect in New York City, while his best friend Eliot Waugh is just along for the ride—on his bright pink moped, of course! But when Quentin quits his job to chase after love, he panics at the last second... and makes a world-shattering claim. Now, it’s up to Eliot to make sure Quentin still gets his happily ever after (and doesn't destroy his whole life in the process.)
September 16
Pass Through Frequencies
Eliot is having a bit of a delayed quarter-life crisis, as evident by his looking back on his top 5 most memorable breakups, which Quentin Coldwater absolutely didn't make it on, no way, (but he did). At least he can accompany it all with a cinematic soundtrack and have the support of his friends at the record store he barely maintains. Alexa, play "Dammit" by Blink-182.
September 17
into the world, into you
The reality of living in a fairy tale land is much less magical than one might like to believe. For twenty years, Quentin has lived a life of hardship and toil, working under the heel of his step-family. But when a chance encounter sends Quentin into the path of the new High King, he finds himself swept up in a lie that threatens them both as they desperately grab for their own happily ever after.
September 18
Tell Me Something I Don’t Know
Kady and Penny are Agents of the Library, partners and best friends - until they both end up dating Julia and their friendship turns to competition. But when Julia becomes the target of a dangerous magician, Kady and Penny have to use all their skills to protect her - and maybe deal with their feelings for each other in the process.
September 19
Yellow Brick Road
Eliot is a fashion designer in NYC, who is proposed to by his boyfriend and he says YES. Just one small problem: he's already technically married - to his high school sweetheart, Quentin Coldwater, that he left behind in Indiana. He has to fly home and settle his divorce once and for all, before anyone back in New York finds out.
September 20
don't write me off (just yet)
Eliot Waugh has a problem. His manager and best friend Margo Hanson has lined up a duet for him that might save his career... but Eliot can't write lyrics to save his life. Enter Quentin Coldwater, bookstore part-owner, temp plant boy... and born lyricist.
As Quentin, Eliot, and Margo work to get the song ready, music isn't all they're building together.
