After the successful meeting with Henry VI, Margaret, Henry Stafford and Henry Tudor travelled to Woking. Margaret and her son spent a week together at her favourite residence, and it appears that this was treated as a holiday by them and a chance to get to know each other again. For Margaret, who had already spent a considerable time apart from her only child, such moments would have been precious, and after leaving Woking, the pair travelled slowly with Henry Stafford to Maidenhead and Henley-on-Thames before Margaret once again passed her son over to the control of his uncle. By 1471, Henry Tudor was rapidly approaching adulthood: he was already older than Margaret had been when she gave birth to him. Although it must have been a wrench for Margaret to part from her child once again, she recognised that it was time for the boy to make his way in the world and that his uncle, who had shown himself to have they boy’s best interests at heart, was, for the time being at least, the man best suited to be his guardian. (...) On 11 November, Henry bade his mother and stepfather farewell and joined his uncle Jasper. Though neither Margaret nor Henry could have known it, they would not see each other again for almost fifteen years. (x) (x)

AU House of Tudors: Children Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon.
Catherine of Aragon(1485 - 1543).In 1501 Catherine of Aragon became the wife of Prince Arthur, but he died half a year later. In 1509 she married Henry VIII. Their married life was happy despite the fact that Catherine was 6 years older than Henry. She also often took an active part in the affairs of state. The marriage produced 6 children. The death of Prince William undermined Catherine's health and because of this she began to have frequent heart aches. She died in 1543 of heart disease.
Elizabeth(1510 - 1582). Queen of Spain and Empress of the Holy Roman Empire. Wife of Charles V. The marriage of Elizabeth and Charles was happy. They had 5 children: Joana, Henry V, Catherine, Inigo and Alexandra. She outlived not only her husband but also her sons. In 1560, her eldest son died of illness, and her youngest died while still a child. And in the same year she became regent of Spain under her one-year-old granddaughter Isabella. Her regency was characterized by an era of prosperity and tranquility. Elizabeth, who was well educated, patronized the arts and sciences. Her court was visited by prominent humanists. Elizabeth had a rich library and could play several musical instruments. She loved to write and read books. 3 years before her death, she handed over the rule of the country into the hands of Isabella, and herself withdrew from public affairs and devoted herself to rest and reading.
Henry IX(1511 - 1581). King of England. Husband of 1)Renée of France and 2)Magdalene of Austria. In 1527 he married Louis XII's daughter Renée. Their married life was happy. But in 1542 she was gone. Renée died in childbirth while giving birth to her 8th child. Henry was inconsolable he fell into depression and 3 years mourned his wife. He did not marry a second time until 10 years after her death. During his reign, England became a strong sea power, and the economy grew 2-fold. Under Henry IX, peace and prosperity reigned in the kingdom. In addition, the king paid great attention to the cultural enlightenment of his state.
He became the father of 12 children: Henry X, Edward, Catherine, Anne, William, Jasper, Mary and Margaret - children from his first marriage.
Magdalen, Ferdinand, Arthur and George from his second.
William(1513 - 1536). Duke of York. Husband of Catherine Parr and father of 2 children: Maud and William. William and Catherine's married life was happy, but not long. Henry VIII was against this marriage, as he looked for another bride. But after much persuasion of his wife and son agreed. Soon Catherine and William learned that they would soon become parents. In April 1536, he fell ill with smallpox and died within days, and in May he became the father of a daughter and a son. After her husband's death, Catherine did not marry again. There were many suitors for her hand, but she refused them and said that her heart belonged only to one William.
Edmund(1514 - 1588). Duke of Somerset. Husband of Dorothea of Denmark, father of 6 children: William, Catherine, Henry, Mark, Isabella and Christian. Edmund was not in love with his wife. The first years of their marriage the couple lived amicably and were attached to each other, and when misunderstandings began between them, they were of a financial nature. The duke did not like the excessive spending of his wife. Because of frequent quarrels, they began to distance themselves from each other. And after the birth of the last child Edmund finally turned away from his wife. Edmund, like his older sister, was a patron of culture and art.
Mary(1516 - 1570). Queen of Scots. Wife of James V. She was the favorite daughter of Henry VIII. At first the Scots did not want to recognize Mary as their queen, but later she quickly won the trust of the people. She also enjoyed the trust of her husband, who often left her as regent during his absence. The spouses were an example of family life, the king was never seen for public adultery. The marriage produced 5 children: Margaret, James VI, David, Robert and Catherine.
Isabella(1518 - 1585). Queen of Poland. Wife of Sigismund II and mother of 8 children: Bona, Sigismund III, Casimir, Jadwiga, Wladyslaw, Jagailo, Catherine and Stanislaw. Isabella was famous for her beauty, distinguished by her intelligence and great energy. But there was no happiness in her life. Isabella's marriage was not a happy one. The queen unrequitedly loved her husband, but the king preferred to lead a dissolute lifestyle. The king's mother feared that Isabella would influence her son and turned Sigismund against her. The king and queen had 8 children, but only one boy survived. Isabella tried to exert political influence on her son, but her attempts were unsuccessful. Because of her disagreement with her son, she returned to her homeland.
Генрих IX(1511 - 1578).

What Fandoms I Write For & Which Characters
It’s easier for me to write for characters I like versus ones I do not. It is also easier for me to write romantic stories for characters I personally fancy/like.
If the character that you want isn’t there, I’m not doing a certain type of request for them, etc. You can still ask, but please be nice about it if I say I won’t write it.
Characters that are minors/under 18 will NOT be shipped with readers who are over the age of 18. If a character ages throughout (example: Harry Potter) specify which age you want that character. Honestly please, please, PLEASE specify in general!

So I just started The Shadow of the Tower series w/James Maxwell. I've seen Henry VIII and his Six Wives and Elizabeth R but never got around to finishing this series. Is it worth it? I've heard it is pretty accurate to the true story of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. More so than The White Princess.
Hello! I would have re-watch it to give you more precise points but as a whole, it's more faithful to history than The White Princess for sure (which, as a Gregory story, includes r*pe, curses and even Margaret Beaufort assassinating Jasper Tudor..... yikes). In terms of historical accuracy, they portray some interpretations that have been reassessed since the 70s, such as Elizabeth Woodville's alleged forced retirement to Bermondsey Abbey, for example. But mostly I would say my main issue with The Shadow of the Tower was some characterisation choices they made in the show. For example, I didn't really like the way they portrayed Jasper Tudor as a rustic man with rough manners and a Welsh accent which, among other things, reinforces the Wild Wesh™ stereotype. I didn't much care for Elizabeth of York as a snob princess who had to be persuaded into submission (a line they drop after the first episode). At times, I also found their Henry VII too eccentric and unconventional when, for all evidence we have, he seems to have been a traditional man who mostly listened to his advisors and who displayed, according to foreign ambassadors, impeccable manners and polished words. I think perhaps they leaned too much into the idea of the mad genius, influenced by the once popular idea of the 'New Monarchy' that Henry VII was supposed to have founded (a concept which, today, is not so widely accepted anymore).
These are all minor issues, of course. The show has an incredible script full of beautiful lines. They touch on themes such as piety, betrayal and loyalty in such a way that makes you think about each episode long after you finish watching them. I would recommend it! x.

For the tv series ask - ✨ The White Queen! 🏰
Favourite character: Margaret Beaufort
Funniest character: Hmmm I don’t think any of them are “funny” but George, Warwick and Stanley all have bits that make me laugh
Best looking character: Edward IV
3 favourite ships: Edward x Elizabeth, mainly. I think the idea of Margaret x Jasper (in the show) works and I like their scenes together.
Least favourite character: probably Margaret Beauchamp??
Least favourite ship: Controversially I’m not that invested in Richard x Anne. I wouldn’t say I dislike the ship and I personally think the show did well at showing their relationship, it just doesn’t interest me all that much.
Reasons why I watch it: It’s a bit of a comfort show for me. I find it very familiar and easy to watch, oddly even though I didn’t watch it when it first aired I find it nostalgic? The theme music always gets to me.
Why I started watching it: I binge read virtually every Philippa Gregory book starting with The Red Queen because of Not Being Very Well and got really interested in anything related to Tudor history or the Wars of the Roses. I basically devoured any kind of book, tv show, film, podcast etc on the topic. This (and The Tudors) is probably the show that stuck with me the most even though I don’t particularly like the books it’s based on anymore.
Thanks for the ask!

New @aurorarsinistra Birthday Post:
Saint’s Knees and Holy Appetites [ AO3 ]
“You have my blood,” she says, and thinks perhaps he has discounted this for too long. Jasper will have spoken to Henry of Edmund, but not of her. It’s no fashionable thing to claim a mother’s fierceness. But now, finally, looking at her, Margaret can see that Henry understands what she is. What she’s made of. He knows that she will never break, and never falter. That she is value and power both, and she is sacrifice, too, and this is what runs in his blood. Not Tudor.
Lancaster.
Margaret.

✠︎ʜɪꜱᴛᴏʀɪᴄᴀʟ ꜰɪɢᴜʀᴇꜱ x ᴍᴏᴅᴇʀɴ ᴀᴇꜱᴛʜᴇᴛɪᴄꜱ✠︎
• Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed, (7 August 1560 – 21 August 1614), was a Hungarian noblewoman and "purported serial killer" from the family of Báthory, who owned land in the Kingdom of Hungary.
• Urraca of Zamora (1033/34 – 1101) was a Leónese infanta, one of the five children of Ferdinand I the Great, who received the city of Zamora as her inheritance and exercised palatine authority in it. Her story was romanticized in the cantar de gesta called the Cantar de Mio Cid, and Robert Southey's Chronicle of the Cid.
• Catherine de’ Medici, was queen consort of Henry II of France and subsequently regent of France (1560–74), who was one of the most influential personalities of the Catholic–Huguenot wars. Three of her sons were kings of France: Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III.
• Archduchess Margaret of Austria  was Governor of the Habsburg Netherlands from 1507 to 1515 and again from 1519 to 1530. She was the first of many female regents in the Netherlands.
• Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford and Earl of Pembroke  also called Jasper of Hatfield, was the uncle of King Henry VII of England and a leading architect of his nephew's successful accession to the throne in 1485. He was from the noble Tudor family of Penmynydd in North Wales.
• Mary was the eldest of three surviving children of Thomas and Elizabeth Boleyn. Much like her siblings, Anne and George, many details regarding Mary’s formative years remain something of a mystery, and we cannot be exactly certain in which order the siblings were born. We can, however, be fairly certain that the children were born between 1500 and 1507, at the Boleyn estate of Blickling Hall, in Norfolk.

The arrival of her son signified a momentous change in Margaret’s outlook, for no longer was her own future her sole consideration – her decisions would affect the course of Henry’s life too, and that made them of even greater import. Though he had his uncle Jasper, she considered that another male figure who could offer protection in the uncertain political climate was essential. Margaret recognized that in order to safeguard Henry’s interests she needed an ally and protector, and the way to obtain one was through marriage. (...) The level of Margaret’s own involvement in her marital arrangements is extraordinary, considering her youth and all that she had been through in so short a space of time. Henry’s birth had had a profound impact on her, imbuing her with a new sense of purpose. The experience of childbirth in a land full of political unrest forced Margaret to grow up quickly, and she emerged as a stronger and more determined character who would put her son’s interests above all else. Henry’s future wellbeing then, was the motivation that drove her when considering her marital arrangements. (...) That she chose to undertake it is a testament to her own insistence on being involved in the negotiations concerning her future. [x]

Note
it's pretty clear that the second Tudor generation (Arthur Margaret, Henry VIII, Mary) had red/red-gold hair and I wondered if they got it from EoY? And since Edward IV was a brunette, do you think EoY might have gotten it from the Woodvilles?
Ik Elizabeth Woodville is often depicted as blonde but given her descendants, do you think she might have had red-gold hair? Idk if that was the established beauty standards of her time - I think it was, which might also fit with her
Hello! A few observations first. We don't know Arthur and Margaret's hair colour. The only contemporary depiction of Arthur that we have shows him with brown hair and I wonder if the saying that Arthur was Edward IV's grandson meant that he resembled him too. That said, I don't trust portraits — take for example Mary (Queen of France)'s portrait that depicts her as a brunette, when she was described as having 'golden hair' as a child and a light complexion at eighteen when she married Louis XII. We also have a lock of hair proving she was fair-haired (though what shade of blonde or red hair eludes me...... in every picture it looks different). I don't trust portraits (pigments oxidise etc) but in Arthur or Margaret's case, we simply have no other evidence or suggestion of their hair colour.
Second, if we're speaking about red hair, it's important to know that one doesn't need to be a redhead to have red-haired offspring. We're talking about recessive alleles: for that phenotype to be expressed you need to receive the recessive red hair alleles from both parents (who might carry them, but not express them because they also carry a dominant allele). So Henry VIII got his red hair both from his mother and father (see for example, how Jasper Tudor might have been a redhead as his name 'jasper' suggests). Elizabeth of York in turn may have inherited her recessive copy from either her father or her mother, and neither of them needed to be a redhead for passing those alleles on.
It's perfectly possible that Elizabeth Woodville was blonde, for example, or that she dyed her hair blonde. There were well-known recipes for dying one's hair blonde and it was indeed the ideal look for women so many did dye their hair. My last observation is that I'm not convinced Elizabeth of York was a redhead. My guess is that she was blonde — what kind of blonde (regular or strawberry) doesn't interest me too much. I think sometimes we give too much importance to that kind of detail as though those historical figures were characters whose specialness in a novel is signalled through their unusual shade of hair. Reality is often more boring than that, in my opinion 🌹x
