okay,, so i had an epiphany yesterday. remember on p. 169 when mare says, “he is a monster still, a monster always. and yet i can’t stop myself from listening. because i could be a monster too. if given the wrong chance. if someone broke me, like he is broken.” and then skip forward to p. 505 & 506 where mare says, “to stand in front of a person who is your whole world and be told you are not enough. you are not the choice. you are a shadow to the person who is your sun.” well, in a nutshell, cal basically broke mare. just like maven was broken by elara.

Random Thought

Sometimes I forget that Cal is two years older than Mare, and Mare is a month older than Maven.

But when you recall how those three interact with each other, it starts to make sense.

Like Cal, since he is older, he is more considerate and more patient with those two.

Mare and Maven, on the other hand, has the dynamic of a older kid (Mare) being fed up with a younger kid (Maven) that is trying too hard to be cool.

I always enjoy every Maven and Mare interaction or just Maven's POV whenever he thinks of Mare. Cause our boy, Maven is just ovulating so hard, he burns down her bed and throws a tantrum cause Mare held his older brother's arm and asked her to run away with him even when she looked very murderous.

Which Red Queen Character Random Headcanon You Relate The Most:

Maven: Barely drinks a glass of water for the whole day. Can endure hours of training or meetings with zero water. If he remembers to hydrate himself, he would aggressively chuh down coffee.

Cal: Hates swimming water, but LOVES drinking water. Can chug easily gallons of H2O before, during and after training (with Mare). Drinks water as a hobby. Is very hydrated.

Mare: Not only is she a romantic biter, she is also a butter biter. Will sneak in the kitchen, open the fridge, grab her favorite butter. Look left rhen right before taking a huge chunk off the bar (she lives alone).

Kilorn: Loves cave diving and exploring complex undereater caves. Will send POV videos of him diving into dark tunnels to Mare, as he loves sharing his interest. (Mare slowly getting traumatized at each video).

Farley: Loves buying groceries in wet markets and is very good at haggling with the old street vendors. Gets the best deals, juicy gossips and engaging conversations with most of them.

Evangeline: Likes window shopping with Elane, not because she can't afford it, she thinks the quality is too poor for her standard and thinking that visiting those stores with her very presence would bring customers in those stores. (It does).

Iris: Loves to sit at the park, feeding bird and watching dogs. While she decides life altering decisions that could effect hundreds, if not, thousands of lives.
