I meant to answer this several days ago but couldn't find it in the sea of asks welp

Anyway as I mentioned before we don't gatekeep art related stuff in this household, artists help other artists.

Honestly it's hard to name an inspo but I do have artists I look up to a lot (this might be a bit long)

Kanisuke, you guys might be familiar with her, she's the artist of the upcoming yandere inside game Yandere Town. I know it's not out yet but I'm actually obsessed with this game and have even translated all the character intros (they are a bit old atp so there might be some mistakes) and actually if you see a Yandere Town related post high chance it's from me. Not only her art but I love her writing style as well.

Hakuri-sensei, their manga Sachi iro no One Room is definitely one of my biggest inspirations. I love the relationship between Sachi and her "captor" and it's the only manga I actually cried my eyes out while reading.

Tayu-sensei, all of their work for Yuugen Romantica (one of my fav drama cd series) are breathtaking and they've also developed even more since then, their current works are just so stunning and I love studying the way they draw hair

Shirahama-sensei, she👏is👏a👏queen👏 honestly I don't have much to say, go read Witch Hat Atelier it's an artistic masterpiece and a giant love letter to art itself

Furumi-sensei, another queen! She's the artist of my favorite Fate Grand Order character Ashiya Douman. I've even bough her art books before, honestly she is just so talented. I don't know what she was drinking when she came up with Douman but I need some of it

Usagi Routo-sense, another fgo artist AND JUST LOOK AT HOW INCREDIBLE THEY ARE AT USING COLORS LIKE??? HOW??? Their art is like cocain for my eyes I could look at them for hours

AU, one more fgo artist and oh my god guys this person right here is one of my biggest inspirations just look at their drawings. I'm not kidding I actually spent hours just inspecting how they shade outfits. I'd sacrifice my soul just to get a chance to watch them draw live

☝︎ FAN, an Ashiya Douman fanartist and god guys the comics they draw!!! They are the cause of some of my current biggest fetishes ngl

Oyo-sensei, an fgo artist and is also the main artist of 18trip. They have such a clean art style that's very pleasing to the eye. I especially love the reference sheets they draw.

Shibatora-sensei, she is the artist of my FAVORITE drama cd series Shinai naru Thanatos and my overall favorite yandere character from any fiction Seo Eito. Honestly if you know me irl probably the first thing you'd mention about me would be my chronic Shinai naru Thanatos addiction because based on what everyone says I start speaking about it within 2 weeks of meeting someone new.

ORKA, the artist of A Stepmother's Marchen. Anyone who knows that manhwa probably knows why she's on this list, her art has so much soul and passion in it, literally every single panel looks like a painting and it makes me want to cry just looking at it

82 Pigeon, an incredible incredible Korean artist, I think they also give art lessons? I really tried to get them but couldn't figure out how. They also have a youtube channel and I learn a lot just by watching their speedpaints

Arturo tries to leave his room as rarely as possible. Honestly, he doesn't want to live in Marchen at all, but the place where he used to live is ruined and Mai can't let him live on the street (though other residents don't always agree with that). Arturo doesn't talk about his curse. He becomes very aggressive when someone asks him about it.

Veronika is very, very interested in curses and evil witches. She loves asking the cursed ones about how, when and why they were cursed, who was the witch who cursed them and so on. She doesn't understand where to cross the line and, to be fair, she's not really trying to. After all, any other thing is not that interesting.

Manhua recommendations part 2! Straight version!

I was planning on becoming her loyal sword, +52 Chapters

The main character in this is so hot! Just a sword wielding hottie who is a bit oblivious to others' advances but she is slowly forming a harem because of how badass she is. She is living her life as a mercenary, protecting her younger sister, but eventually finds out her true heritage! I'm not quite sure where the story is going from here, but I have a feeling that we are just in the middle of it, so more plot will transpire from here on out. But I love her, she's fun and cool and everyone loves her including myself. Also her guy version is.... kind of hot too😳. Mm, the bisexual in me.

Stepmother Marchen, +110 Chapters

Rating: 9/10

This is a dramatic but lovely story with AMAZING art. Lives her life, dies, get sent back in time to fix her past relationships. Every character is lovely and we get to see some interesting issues being discussed like domestic abuse, gambling addiction, and the-CHURCH. But my lady is doing amazing this time around and is just a total babe. Though I wouldn't call her a milf. And the reason it's not a ten out of ten is cause I'm weirded out why she is a mom in the first place. Like nothing happened between them, but why did she marry this old guy and have to raise his four kids when he died? She's like... fifteen 🤨. I haven't read it in a while, and this one's translation gets weird later on, but there are other copies that you can dip your toes into. It's a compelling and cool story, check it out!

Please Marry Me Again, Husband! +59 Chapters

I-LOVE-THIS-STORY! So soft, so fluffy, so wholesome. Cardi is sexy and I want to eat him up. They are so in love with each other, it's bananas. And really it's just a second chance at love and romance, and it's so charming. The protagonist is so much more sure and confident in herself after she died, got sent back in time to make her life better with the man she married. So perfect.

It's Time to Change the Genre, +78 Chapters

This shit is funny! Like the protag isn't the smartest transmigrated character, but she is fun and goofy and we love her for that. This story isn't a super typical transmigration story, cause there is the part that is kind of different than the rest tho I don't want to spoil it. But this is a fun story that makes me laugh. And her nephew is the cutest little butt head. Adorbs!

Tho I should note that the translation here gets wonky later on, so you might need to find a new place to read it after a while.

Here Comes the Silver Spoon! +80 Chapters

This is a good story. It's not exactly how you expect it to go, but it's still very good. We got Adelaide over here, who is the richest, smartest, evilest babe alive and I love her for that. She is just morbidly evil and will sell you to satan for one potato chip. But like, in a hot way. So the story goes like, she is engaged but her sister steals her fiance, so Adelle's gotta find a new better husband in like a week so she won't lose the family fortune. Her sister, Noella is so fucked up (don't know why yet), love that for her. I just.... ahh! She is so fascinating and Adelle is so cool!

This is a transmigration story btw, so it is even more interesting that Adelaide has these preconceived notions of her sister which influence their relationship.

A wicked tale of Cinderella's Stepmom, +96 Chapters

Mommy! Mommy! MOMMY! MILF! WE GOT A MILF OVER HERE! And oh boy, she isn't like dangerous sexy, but she is so mommy it's hot! This one in the beginning is a 6/10 cause the art isn't the best, but it gets obviously polished over time, becoming a 7/10. Like you can just see the evolution of the artist's hand in this one. It's very impressive. But the story is pretty basic. Person dies and gets sent into a villainess's body, but it is endearing to me because they couldn't smell anything in their past life and in this life, they got a great nose and can make perfume! I'm like: I can't smell shit either! Let me live vicariously thru u! And also she starts a business, and I love it when these protagonists wanna make the money! I'm like, hell yeah! Be a successful entrepreneur! But yes, the art gets very pretty later on, the story and romance are pretty basic, but a fun little read. Nothing bad, but nothing astounding either.

And this story might be very predictable, but it's a good predictable where it is executed very well. The art is a bit wonk sometimes but honestly, it's the story that hooks you in. And all the characters are so compelling, I love it! I can't wait for more!

Found this one recently, it's very cute but also a story filled with longing and the aching feeling in your heart of someone else's absence. The babe here fucks her best friend, gets knocked up, decides she wants to keep the baby and not deal with any of the noble or royal drama that comes with it and decides to gtfo. She is a wise military leader who knows how to absolutely disappear off the radar and honestly, that is so cool of her. Feel bad for her love interest because he just wants to be with her and can't find her. It's a perfect story of angsty longing and also a cute lady who can't wait to have her baby. And ahhhhh it's adorable how excited she is. Love it.

But honestly, I totally get why she misunderstands him and his intentions, and also why she wouldn't want the world to know that she is pregnant. I think her reasonings make sense and I find it very intriguing.

AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!!!! Against what the name suggests, this is clearly not your typical fantasy romance story! It is so much more!!! Firstly, the male love interest isn't your typical willowy bishonen man. No, this is Pell and I want to chomp on his big fat nipples. He is a bear of a man, covered in hair and scars and uuuggh, Littera u are so lucky, girl! He is like- a gentle giant with big insecurities, but can also deck any monster and oof!!! He is just a nice change of pace and I wanna eat him up. Also Littera is just meta-savvy and knows her way around things, and we get to watch their relationship grow from pretty cute to so communicative it's ridiculous! There is no miscommunication here! They talk about their feelings and just make everything perfect between each other. It's so gooey, and cute, and they are so sensible! I love them and can't wait until they have a million little babies! I recommend this one out of all others if not just for Pell alone!

Your writing and art is such a major inspiration to me and has reignited so many projects I've scrapped in the past because I thought I couldn't do it or I didn't have the skill to. How do you plan your universes from scratch (and add the characters afterwards)? Or do you make characters and then build the universe around them? I'm really fascinated by how huge your OC universe is and I was wondering how you plan it, along with any other tools or tips to write one!

I'm not sure if my process is a great one, but feel free to reference it!!

sometimes it goes world first -> charas later, but for MO it's mostly charas first -> figure out world/story later

ngl for MO, most of the guys are there because I went "ur handsome, let's date." planning is haphazard at best

the upcoming The Doll Witch is the opposite, where everything is a lot more purposeful... LOL

to tell you the truth, all the different worlds and stuff didn't exist at the time of MO Ciel's release LOL. it was just going to be that world + the dream world, afterlife, etc. Magicians weren't even a thing yet, either

by total coincidence, the month theme came to me (and hey what a coincidence--Marchen sounds like March!!! maybe it was fate?)

from there, i wondered what other kind of worlds would be needed to make a functioning universe (based on Clavie's morals and the magic system), which led to June, Feb, September... also July/Nov representing necessary things like time and space

the remaining worlds, i thought would be interesting to use as sort of testing grounds for various scenarios. like October being a world with dying magic, and December being the closest thing to a utopia

i have a general idea for the stories that'll take place when we get to them, but nothing is super set in stone! so characters can come and go when i actually sit down and work everything out

tldr, i don't think there's a wrong way of doing it. you just have to make sure you do!!!

Karma is “the lost prince” of the kingdom of Brugantia, and has remained lost because he was cursed by a witch. He’s afflicted with a Fairytale Curse known as “the Beauty’s Curse”, ironically; every woman who sees him falls in love with him, unless he’s in disguise as a woman himself. If he is ever to fall in love, the curse transforms him into a beast. For the curse to be broken, the one he loves must love him back. Although he is very friendly and dramatic, as well as an excellent swordsman, he’s given up on breaking his curse because, in his own words, “who could ever love a beast?” He resides at an inn and restaurant known as The Marchen, where he works along with others who suffer from Fairytale Curses.

Non romance focused/not heavy on romance shoujo isekais batch:

Beware of the villainess - Theres romance but its secondary and it only really kicks in at the last chapters. It's a very good story!

Lady Baby - As the title implies she's a baby for a lot of it so due to that its low on romance for a while. I haven't finished it but I'm sure there's romance eventually. its ok.

Milady Just Wants to Relax - Very cute! I didn't finish it but there wasn't any obvious male lead as far as I could tell, so that's nice. Most likely there will be eventually though. I found it pleasant.

The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass - Revenge heavy but pleasant. There's romance but I find the guy bearable for the genre and his thing is mostly doing a thumbs-up while his girl schemes. Takes a while for them to get together, too. There's a faux male lead guy but it's kinda obvious it will go nowhere. More romance than the others though.

Who made me a princess - I'm told the novel is more romance focused, but in the comic it's basically an after thought for the end. The focus is on the father-daughter relationship. It's cute but you need to have patience for the shitty dad. I like him but he's an idiot.

 Isekai Omotenashi Gohan - FOOD ISEKAI! This one is very cute. I don't remember if there's romance (probably) but it's a cooking isekai and it's cute.

The Stepmother’s Marchen - She has bigger problems than romance but there will definetely be some eventually. Some of the guys are weird and annoying as well, so beware, even if it's family focused.

I Tamed a Tyrant and Ran Away - I haven't finished but it's more of grooming a guy to become a tyrant and he becomes obsessed with you as a side effect than romance at the start, and the girl is very much using him for her own goals. Unfortunately I'm sure they'll be together in the end. Recommend if you enjoy "girl who suffered lots turns on evil family and becomes cold and evil-ish"

The Angelic Lady - Revenge focused. Kinda mid but I heard she dumps a guy so theres that!

Kill the Villainess - Revenge focused. The guys suck so, so badly but she just wants to die. There's technically a male lead but love definetely loses here.

I want to be you, Just for a day - HEAVY. Revenge, suffering, pain, hatred etc. I think there's a male lead but they have MUCH WORSE problems. It's very good and it focused on the villainess and her relationship with the heroine as they dismantle the systemns that hold them down. There might be romance eventually but it's definetely not the focus.

MISCELLANEOUS

Please have a meal - not technically an isekai but it's a bit like SAO with a magical video game world. Food focused! There might be romance eventually but the guys definetely cares about cooking more than anything.

Witch Hat Atelier - So cute and beautifully drawn! They're children so not romance focused. It's a magic, fantasy setting with incredible worldbuilding and concepts. Very interesting!

GEMMA! - I don't think it's available anywhere but Tapas and it's paid but it's very good. I don't think its a shoujo but it's very focused on girls and women and their personal feelings and journeys. It's one of the best comics I've ever read. Adventure focused. ZERO ROMANCE!

DPS Only! - Also available on Tapas and paid. Very cool! It's a mundane setting focused on professional gaming with a female protagonist. She has a close relationship to another girl but I don't think they're a couple? Though I might be mistaken, it's been a while. It's very good!

An animal hospital at the border area - Female vet accidentaly becomes a doctor for magical creatures. Very fun! There might be romance eventually but it was very magical focused as far as I could see. It was fun!

The spark in your eyes - Very interesting female character and world. Heavy themes and somewhat disturbing at times. Still, very, very good. Fantasy setting. There might be romance eventually but the female lead is too mentally ill to focus on anything but her own torment for a long while so I don't think it will be soon. Awesome!

Kasane - Horror? Has magical elements. Insanely good and you can't put it down, but also very disturbing and fucked up. There's romance but it's like, another nail in the coffin of a girl with one million problems and who's metaphorically digging her own grave of mistakes. Recommend but check the trigger warning!

Dungeon Meshi - Zero romance! Although it's up to interpretation at times. Very fun and creative fantasy setting! Also heavily cooking focused! It's so much fun and has a very interesting cast and world. Recommend!

Skip to Loafer - It's technically a seinen but it feels like a shoujo. There's romance and it's definetely relevant but it's also very much focused on young girls friendship and aspirations and finding your place in the world. The romance is just another way they have of understanding each other.

Hiii! Do you happen to know of any shoujo stuff that isn't super romance focused? (If you know any isekai specifically that's nice, but any other subgenre is good too!)

Gosh, I'll have to get back to you on the isekai aspect but from the top of my head I'll recommend 'The makeup remover'. I'm not sure if its officially a shoujo, and it has some romance - but its definetely not the focus and its an incredibly intelligent, well thought out, visually interesting comic otherwise. I think you'll find it very interesting! (The cover will make it seem like I'm lying but trust me )

DRDT x Cinderella Phenomenon

In case somebody doesn't know, Cinderella Phenomenon is a visual novel where fairies and witches exist, also fairytale curses yeah. Anyway!

Fairies: Mai (the Supreme Fairy) and Whit

Witches: MonoTV and Hu (a good witch)

Average humans: Xander, J, Eden, Min, Veronika, Levi, Ace.

The cursed ones:

Teruko, "The Boy and the Wolves" curse. Her curse makes her and people around her extremely unlucky. She has a Curse Mark that grows if someone betrays her, if mark covers her entire body she will turn into a wolf-like beast with no way back. Teruko's curse can be broken if she will genuinely and mutually trust another person.

Charles, "The Water of Life" curse. He always hears voices that mock him for every weakness he has. If something will remind him of his life before he was cursed, the Curse Mark will activate and start to slowly grow. If mark covers his entire body, he will turn into a stone statue. Charles can break the curse by getting back all of his memories about the closest person he had.

David, "The Snow Queen" curse. Everything good in his eyes is evil and everything bad only becomes more visible. Though there is an exception that he can't control- someone who he sees as an ideal with no fault. If David won't accept his Exception's flaws and weaknesses as they are by the time his Curse Mark touches his heart it will turn into ice.

Arei, "Urikohime" curse. All of her negative traits double and overlap the positive ones. Slowly, as the Curse Mark grow, the negative ones are turning into completely another personality while the old one becomes a ghost, following the body for the rest of eternity. Arei can break the curse by willing and trying to change, mentally overcoming her curse.

Nico, "The Boy Who Drew Cats" curse. They are always followed by three drawn cats who voice every bad thought that Nico has and can make them feel the physical pain that they caused other people. To break the curse Nico has to commit three selfless acts, each for one cat.

Rose, "Silver Hoof" curse. She creates gems out of her own psychological pain, although she can't control it. People always use that ability of hers. To break the curse Rose has to find someone who will love her for who she is and not for her curse.

Arturo, "The Fox Sister" curse. All the pain, emotions and feelings that he caused other people are returned to him by the "Fox" Spirit that only he can see. To break the curse Arturo has to admit all of his mistakes, genuinely regret them and deserve forgivness of the closest person he had.

Just like in Cinderella Phenomenon the cursed ones have to live in Marchen (tavern and kinda hotel that can only be seen by fairies, witches and the cursed ones, average people should be led to this place by one of the three kinds above).
