Chill Sentenza - Safe Haven in Morocco - The list of Gangsta women.
Chill Sentenza -
The meaning of a safe haven is a place of safety or refuge.

Promotion Watch ’19: PwC Admits 249 New Partners and Principals
The most prestigiest firm in all the land unveiled its 2019 class of new partners and principals on May 31, and it’s another big one:
I am thrilled to welcome 249 new partners to our @PwCUS family! These leaders have led by example and I'm excited to see what the future holds for them and their teams. https://t.co/LuVupQFNS6 #PwCProud pic.twitter.com/rEeit1jRLW
— Tim Ryan (@Timothy_F_Ryan) May 31, 2019

Ten Sources on How Toxic Masculinity Affect Men’s Mental Health
Ly Tran
Professor Mohrman
March 12, 2019
Toxic masculinity is a complex term to identify but some people identify toxic masculinity as a term that is associated with the characteristics of a man such as violent, powerful, strong and aggressive. Within our society there is a norm that in order to be considered a man, a man must contain these characteristics such as strong, don’t express their emotion and being tough which is something that is not true. This norm within the society has led many men to depression because they have to live up to these expectations that society have created for them. Many men and boys within our society are experiencing depression because of the culture that they are being taught, in order to be an actual man, a boy/man must suppress emotion and maintain an appearance of hardness.
Five Popular Sources:
Cannon, Amy. "Men, Depression, and Toxic Masculinity." Providence Behavioral Health. July 3, 2017. Accessed March 12, 2019. http://www.providencebehavioral.com/men-depression-and-toxic-masculinity/.
The author presents the concept that mental illness is not just for women, men also go through mental illness just in different ways than women. Men are more likely to seek eternal ways to cope with their pain because they not expected to show their emotion so instead of being sad, they would work drink. The author suggests that within the society people should change the expectation that men/ boys don't cry or show their emotion, so men/boys could be honest with their feeling. Cannon graduated with her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Towson University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. The article is published in 2017, on the Providence Behavioral Health page which is a clinic.
Marcus, Joshua. "How Psychology Deals With The Concept Of "Toxic Masculinity"."ThriveTalk. November 15, 2018. Accessed March 12, 2019.https://www.thrivetalk.com/toxic-masculinity/.
The author examines how masculinity is something that comes from cultural and it is not something that could be changed easily, in order to make the changes for men. Men are one that must let go of the expectation that society has for them because those expectations are holding them back from themselves. This article was written by a freelance writer in the mental health niche.
Montero, Henry. "Depression in Men: The Cycle of Toxic Masculinity." PsyCom.net - Mental Health Treatment Resource Since 1986. Accessed March 12, 2019. https://www.psycom.net/depression-in-men/depression-in-men-toxic-masculinity/.
The author of this short article talks about how the number of men with depression were increasing because men were basically forced to hold their emotion to themselves instead of expressing their emotion to anyone. Whenever a man or boy expresses their emotion, other people surrounding them will tell them "man up” instead of asking them if they are okay and comfort them. The author also explores the idea that there is no association between emotion and gender but it is just something that is natural for all gender to express their emotion for example if a boy cry that doesn’t mean he’s weak or like a girl. Addition to this, the author discuss how men try to hide their emotion and shut themselves off in order to show their masculinity which could lead to depression because they can’t share their thought with anyone. The author advocate for people to support the idea for men to share their emotion instead of keeping to themselves because that could lead to depression. Montero is a member of the Psycom editorial advisory board and a board-certified Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
White, Ruth. "Toxic Masculinity as a Mask for Anxiety." Psychology Today. December 22, 2017. Accessed March 12, 2019. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/culture-in-mind/201712/toxic-masculinity-mask-anxiety.
The author presents the idea that that not only women are suffering in silence but also men, they are fulfilling the expedition that society has created for them otherwise they won’t be viewed as masculine. She also explains how boys get bully if they do something that is not considered to be masculine by their friends. She also encourages men and boys to share their feeling with others so they can relief any feeling that they're having in order to reduce the stress that may often be expressed in a violent way. White has a Ph. D  and is a clinical associate professor at the University of Southern California's School of Social Work and author of the forthcoming book, The Stress Management Workbook. The article was published in 2017 on Psychology Today, a magazine in the United States since 1967.
"'Toxic Masculinity' Leads to Mental Health Problems for Men." The Huffington Post. December 08, 2016. Accessed March 12, 2019. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/toxic-masculinity-leads-to-mental-health-problems_us_5849e9f0e4b0171331050f06.
The author illustrates the concept that men who conform with the masculinity norm, they are more likely to deal with mental health problems because usually men you consider themselves as powerful and strong, they would want to do everything by themselves without asking for help even if they needed. These men will end up with stress because even though they needed the help they would not ask. This short article is published on Huffington Post, an American news and opinion website and blog, with localized and international editions.
Five Academic Source:
Gibson, Kerry, Claire Cartwright, and John Read. "Conflict in Men’s Experiences With Antidepressants." American Journal of Men’s Health 12, no. 1 (2016): 104-16. doi:10.1177/1557988316637645.
This is a study on New Zealand men who have used antidepressants as a way to help their depression instead of seeking help from others. This study talks about the changes and conflict that these men have when using the medication. The study takes a look at the pros and cons of the medication and recommends men to use a different strategy to relive their emotion or pain instead of using the medication to treat their depress. This study helps the readers look at men in a different way, they are not always strong or rough, they also go through different emotion and could be weak as well. This study is public on American Journal of Men's Health which is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes papers in the field of Health.
Green Jonathan, Kearns Jaclyn, and  Ledoux Annie. "The Association Between Masculinity and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury." American Journal of Men’s Health 12, no. 1 (2016): 104-16. doi:10.1177/1557965315637897.
Researchers and clinicians believe masculine norm has led many men to engage in self-harm. The study contains data from a sample of  912 adults from two universities in the Northeastern United States who have completed a web-based questionnaire assessing adherence to masculine norms. Adults who have shows a stronger connection to the masculine norm were predict to have a high risk of harming themselves. This study shows everyone within the society that not only women are the one that harms self but even men when they are forced to live up to the expectation that the society has created.
Keohane, Aisling, and Noel Richardson. "Negotiating Gender Norms to Support Men in Psychological Distress." American Journal of Men’s Health 12, no. 1 (2017): 160-71. doi:10.1177/1557988317733093.
The journal explores the reason why the number of men suicide have an increase because there’s always the assumption that men don’t ask for help when they needed or doesn’t express their emotion, that is one of the reason but it is not the main reason why men suicide. The journal also discusses the different ways to support men who are in need of help. This is a good source to help people understand the different way to help men who are in psychological distress.
Scholz, Brett, Shona Crabb, and Gary A. Wittert. "Males Don’t Wanna Bring Anything Up To Their Doctor”." Qualitative Health Research 27, no. 5 (2016): 727-37.doi:10.1177/1049732316640294.
Many times because men care too much about their appearance and expectation it makes it harder for doctors to diagnose depression in men. Many men don’t express what they’re are going through which makes it hard to diagnose and be treated for. The journal talks about the analysis that was collected from research of ten men who have experience high-level symptoms of depression.
Wolf, Jacob, Elizabeth Nutt Williams, Megan Darby, Jonathan Herald, and Catherine Schultz. "Just for Women? Feminist Multicultural Therapy with Male Clients." Sex Roles 78, no. 5-6 (2017): 439-50. doi:10.1007/s11199-017-0819-y.
This was a study on the number of male clients that actually to see a therapy when they need help, there was a number showing that even though the number of suicide for men is increasing but the number of men seeking for help by coming to therapy is still low. Many of the men don’t come to therapy because they associate that with females also because they value the idea that they are strong and doesn’t need any help.

NAHB: Builder Confidence Declines to 70 in March
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reported the housing market index (HMI) was at 70 in March, down from 71 in February. Any number above 50 indicates that more builders view sales conditions as good than poor. From NAHB: Builder Confidence Remains on Solid Footing in March
Builder confidence in the market for newly-built single-family homes edged down one point to a level of 70 in March from a downwardly revised February reading on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) but remains in strong territory. “Builders’ optimism continues to be fueled by growing consumer demand for housing and confidence in the market,” said NAHB Chairman Randy Noel, a custom home builder from LaPlace, La. “However, builders are reporting challenges in finding buildable lots, which could limit their ability to meet this demand.” “A strong labor market, rising incomes and a growing economy are boosting demand for homeownership even as interest rates rise,” said NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz. “With these economic fundamentals in place, the single-family sector should continue to make gains at a gradual pace in the months ahead.” ... The HMI component gauging current sales conditions held steady at 77, the chart measuring sales expectations in the next six months dropped two points to 78, and the index gauging buyer traffic fell three points to 51. Looking at the three-month moving averages for regional HMI scores, the Northeast rose one point to 57, the South decreased one point to 73, the West fell two points to 79, and the Midwest dropped four points to 68. emphasis added

What happened to Robert the smoking robot? – BBC News
Image copyright Getty Images
More than 80 years ago, a robot could be found in the unlikely surroundings of Kettering, directing traffic and smoking a cigarette.
Today, the story of Robert the Robot is little known, even in the Northamptonshire town where he was once a celebrity.
Yet in the 1930s, his fame reached as far as Czechoslovakia and the United States, where he even featured in Time magazine.
And the reason he came to be?
"Someone bet me 5 I could not make a robot in three weeks," inventor Charles Lawson, who had a radio shop, told a newspaper at the time.
"I won."
Image copyright Lawson family
Image caption Robert could be seen outside Mr Lawson's shop in Wellington Street, Kettering
The electrical engineer's creation first hit headlines in the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph, which proclaimed: "Kettering robot 'enjoys' smoke."
The article from March 1939 proclaimed the android could do "practically everything that a human being can do", even crediting him with the "ability of mind reading".
"You may pick up a card from a pack and the robot will tell you the card you have chosen," it read.
"It has a sense of humour too, for when Mr Lawson was bending down to examine its leg he received a slap on the face."
So how did he function? Frustratingly, it is not entirely clear.
Image copyright Getty Images
Image caption Robert was popular with children and could also - apparently - direct traffic
The only remaining evidence for his existence are a selection of photographs and Robert himself disappeared from view after World War Two.
Mr Lawson's son David, an 84-year-old retired farmer, remembers "wires and gears, a maze of chains and electronics" inside the robot's 10ft-tall frame.
He said his father had built a prototype in 1938, which he had installed in Kettering's Temperance Hall.
The robot had a microphone and speaker in its head and hidden assistants would surprise the unsuspecting people walking past.
"They (the assistants) would be looking down at people passing by and suddenly say something about someone's pink hat," he said.
His father then moved on to the more advanced Robert, who could move his arms and hands.
Image copyright Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Image caption The Meririam Webster dictionary used a picture of Charles Lawson's robot in an advert, but the he later took legal action against the firm over its description of the robot
"It used to light its own cigarettes. It even directed the traffic in Kettering," David Lawson said.
"It even used to tell fortunes and he took it to the seaside, including trips to Blackpool. [My father] got obsessed with it."
Robert was one of the first robots seen in the UK. The very term robot was less than 20 years old, having been coined by Czech writer Karel Capek in his 1920 play RUR.
The first British robot is believed to have been constructed in 1928 and was called Eric. He was subsequently rebuilt and is on display at the Science Museum in London.
Noel Sharkey, professor of robotics at Sheffield University and head judge on BBC Two's Robot Wars, said it was most likely Robert was a similar construction to Elektro, a robot made by US power company Westinghouse in 1937 for the New York World's Fair in 1939.
Image copyright Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph
Image caption Robert first hit the headlines in the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph
"As is claimed for the Charles Lawson robot, it could walk, talk, smoke and count," he said.
"The robot relied on a combination of motors, photoelectric cells, telephone relays and a record player to perform 26 pre-programmed routines, each one initiated by voice commands from a human co-star.
"Smoking was done using automated bellows which were also a feature of 19th Century automatons.
"Remember that this type of robot did not have access to a computer and so talking was done using a triggering mechanism for a record player playing old 78 RPM bakelite records."
Science fiction was in vogue in the 1930s - serials such as Flash Gordon were popular in the cinemas - and Robert became a huge media sensation, drawing the attention of English newspapers.
His story was then syndicated abroad where it was eagerly reported by the foreign press.
The entry in one Czech newspaper, under the headline Robot Friend of the Children, read: "In the English town of Kettering a robot often appears in the streets, it strides, sits down, smoke and speaks.
Image copyright Lawson Family/Northants Evening Telegraph
Image caption The robot was shown in displays at theatres in Kettering and received coverage in Czech newspapers
"The steel servant is an invention of C. Lawson, once an electric tramway employee. The robot has a sound apparatus in its head.
"Every move of the robot is followed, chiefly by the crowd of young folk, especially when he is on point duty."
Mr Lawson tried to capitalise on Robert's fame, exhibiting him around the country. His son said he eventually sold him to a pier showman in Blackpool shortly before the start of World War Two.
Despite several attempts to trace him, Robert's whereabouts remain unknown. But it seems possible he enjoyed a post-war career as a seaside attraction before disappearing into obscurity.
Tony Sharkey, head of local history at Blackpool library, said robots often appeared in sideshows during the 1950s, including one from South Africa called Magna.
"From images I've seen it appears to have been very different [to Robert]. The show included illusions and the robot would mind read and tell people what they were wearing."
Mr Lawson sold his shop in the 1960s and retired, but although he was "quiet man" he would talk to people about his robots if asked.
He died in 2002 in Kettering, aged 96.
"It is only recently when I've thought about the complexity of the robot that I realised how clever he was," his son said.

Image caption Mr Lawson often staged events in Kettering to publicise his robot and his radio shop

Injury Ward: Eastern Conference Postseason Injury Updates
Following up yesterday’s Western Conference injury update, today we check in on the Eastern Conference.
Boston Bruins
Riley Nash – Missed Tuesday’s practice, which makes it less likely he’ll be in the lineup on Thursday when the Bruins open up their series against the Leafs. He missed the end of the regular season (last five games) after taking a shot to the side of the head, needing 40 stitches to close the resulting gash! As of right now, the main concern seems to be swelling and discomfort of wearing a helmet – nothing concussion related.  Nash finished the regular season with 41 points in 76 games, and is an important part of the Bruins’ depth scoring. Riley doesn’t typically play huge minutes (15:25), but he does leave a hole down the middle for the Bruins. While he hasn’t officially been ruled out for game one, if he doesn’t play, Noel Acciari should take his spot on the third line.
Brandon Carlo – Won’t be available for the entirety of the playoffs. Carlo is still recovering from ankle surgery.
Sean Kuraly – Looks like he’ll be good to go on Thursday!
Rick Nash – Was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice, which makes it likely he’ll be in the lineup for Game 1. Keep in mind he’s recovering from a concussion, so there’s a chance he’s not yet at a 100% (head injuries are unpredictable). Nash had six points in 11 games with the Bruins and 34 points in 71 games overall. He wasn’t even the best R. Nash on the team! In all seriousness, Nash did seem to boost the second line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci, his return will certainly be welcome.
Anders Bjork – Recovering from shoulder surgery, he won’t be available for the 2017-2018 postseason.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Lukas Sedlak – No recent updates, I’m assuming he’s still out indefinitely.
Nick Foligno – Practiced on Monday and should be in the lineup when the Capitals host the Blue Jackets on Thursday. It wasn’t Foligno’s best season offensively as he totalled just 33 points in 72 games. However, it’s always nice to have your captain in the lineup for the playoffs.
New Jersey Devils
Marcus Johansson – While he has been cleared to practice with contact, he still hasn’t been cleared to play in a game. That might seem a bit confusing, but I guess there’s a substantial difference between how hard your opponents will hit you and how hard your teammates will hit you. Johansson’s season was really hindered by head injuries – he appeared in just 29 regular season games. I get the feeling Johansson will see some playoff action this season, just not in the early stages of round one.
Philadelphia Flyers
Michal Neuvirth – Did some work on the ice Tuesday, but I don’t expect him to seem much playoff action if any. Right now it seems like Brian Elliott is the guy, with Petr Mrazek waiting in the wings if Elliott were to falter.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Derick Brassard – Has been a full participant in practice recently. While he hasn’t been confirmed for Wednesday’s lineup, all signs point to him being ready. He had eight points in 14 games with the Penguins during the regular season.
Carter Rowney – Didn’t practice Tuesday, so I wouldn’t expect him to be available for game one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him return at some point during the playoffs. Has been out since mid-March with an upper-body injury that was supposed to keep him out long-term.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Steven Stamkos – Has been feeling good and hopes to play in Game 1. He was a full participant in Monday’s practice on a line with Nikita Kucherov and JT Miller. I’d expect him to be in the lineup on Thursday when the Lightning open their series against the Devils. Tampa’s captain tallied 86 points in 78 regular season games – expectations will be high for the playoffs.
Adam Erne – Still out indefinitely with a lower body injury. The Lightning have their fair share of offensive firepower, so don’t expect him to be rushed back for the postseason. The 22-year-old should have a bigger role in future years.
Toronto Maple Leafs
I mean, Nathan Horton and Joffrey Lupul don’t count right?
Washington Capitals
Jay Beagle – Skated by himself on Tuesday, and is questionable for Thursday’s playoff opener against the Blue Jackets. At this point, he should be considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Beagle play a big role on the penalty kill for the Caps, so they’ll be hoping for a speedy recovery. Considering he hasn’t had a chance to practice with his teammates recently, I’d be surprised if he was in the lineup for Game 1.
T.J. Oshie – Should be good to go for Game 1. He missed a couple of the final regular season games for “maintenance.”

A Song of Freedom
Today’s donation: Freemuse
Tumblr media
Already sick of holiday music? Count yourself lucky. You live in a place where artists are allowed to make whatever music they want, and radio stations, stores, cafes and such are allowed to play it.
Yeah, yeah. That smacks a bit of the old “there are starving children in China” thing parents used to say to guilt kids into finishing their boiled peas, and spur who knows how many eating disorders in the process. So at risk of creating some music-phobic issues, there are many places on the planet where people would love to have even some of the freedom of expression we take for granted. Places where people are jailed, intimidated, even physically attacked for singing a song, or telling a joke, or painting a picture, or sharing a video.
Freemuse, a Copenhagen-based watchdog, advocacy and action organization, diligently and dedicatedly tackles this on a global basis, working to protect and expand rights in various places, and struggling to free artists who have been imprisoned or imperiled for their art. At the moment, the Freemuse website’s home page highlights dozens of cases. In Burundi new laws ban women from the famed drum groups and heavily regulate formation and performance of new drum ensembles. In Turkey a Syrian filmmaker was stabbed at a fundraising event for his controversial project. In the Central African Republic an attack on a concert killed seven and wounded dozens more. In Viet Nam a poet was locked in her home after protesting Donald Trump’s recent visit and then evicted. And so on.
Its “Art Under Threat” report from February painted a stark picture of the state of expression in 2016:
“Freemuse registered 1,028 attacks on artists and violations of their rights in 2016 across 78 countries, continuing a worrying trend of artistic freedom increasingly coming under threat. The number of cases registered in 2016 more than doubled the amount in 2015, increasing by 119%, rising from 469 attacks. Of those more than one thousand cases, Freemuse documented 188 total serious violations of artistic freedom and 840 acts of censorship.”
I first encountered the Freemuse folks in summer 2010 at the Fþrde World Music Festival in a lovely town tucked into Norway’s western fjords. The theme of the fest that year was endangered and oppressed cultures — Iranian Kurds, Uyghurs from the Asian Steppes, Garufina from South America’s Caribbean region, Sami from the northern Scandinavian lands among dozens represented.  FreeMuse made a presentation exploring some of the most oppressive countries’ periled artists, but also reminding that even sometimes in places where freedom is held as a given, things may not always be so free — the Dixie Chicks’ controversy in the U.S. was not that far behind us at the time.
Most of its activity is behind the scenes, investigating cases, working with local activists, lawyers and officials to resolve specific cases and change general policies. But Freemuse does a few high-profile things each year, such as a world-wide Music Freedom Day each year on March 3 and the giving of the FreeMuse Award. This year the latter went to Zohra, Afghan’s first-ever all-young-female orchestra, its founder Dr. Ahmad Sarmast and Nagin Khpalwak, the bold young woman conductor who leads it. Past winners have included the beleaguered Festival au Desert in Mali (2013) and folk music giant Pete Seeger (2009).
That comes against the background of music being constantly under threat, as rounded up in the “Art Under Threat report:
“In the case of serious violations, music continued to be the art form that suffered the most violations of artistic freedom with 86 cases, or 46% of total serious violations. In 2015, Freemuse also registered 86 serious violations for music.”
So when you find yourself saying, “I just can’t stand to hear one more schmaltzy rendition of ‘The First Noel,’” remind yourself how fortunate you are to get to feel that way. Now everyone, sing along! And donate.

About this blog: ‹Causes and Effect: My Year of Giving Daily, was started in 2013 by entertainment and culture journalist Melinda Newman, who made daily donations to a wide variety of non-profits and wrote about her experience. USA Today music writer, Brian Mansfield took on this monumental task in 2014. Since then, various writers have taken turns with stints, as the effort comes to a close at the end of 2017.
About Steve Hochman: Steve has covered popular, and unpopular, music for more than 32 years, most of that time as a key member of the Los Angeles Times’ music team. He is currently music critic for Pasadena station KPCC’s morning magazine “Take Two” and a regular contributor to BuzzBandsLA and to his own Make Mine Baconwrapped blog. He hosts interview-and-performance sessions at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles and at New Orleans’ annual Jazz and Heritage Festival. His byline has appeared in an array of major publications, including Rolling Stone, Billboard and Entertainment Weekly and New Orleans’ Offbeat and he’s written liner notes for a range of projects, from an elaborate book in Disney’s award-winning box set of music from the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken animated musicals to reissues of Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s first four albums. He’s thrilled to be sharing this month’s C&E with Geoff Mayfield.
