David P. ajoute : « Si tu ne veux rien, c’est qu’il y a peut-être quelque chose qui ne va pas dans ton cœur. » Tout cela n’a pas l’air très spirituel, n’est-ce pas ? Rien vouloir …

Dieu souhaite que tu veuilles. Il a mis au défi le fameux roi Achaz de demander le signe qu’il voudrait et Achaz a décliné l’offre pour une raison qui paraissait très spirituelle : « Achaz répondit : Je ne demanderai rien, je ne tenterai pas l'Éternel. » Esaïe 7:12

L’Éternel S’est mis en colère contre ce roi au cœur endurci. Il voulait montrer Sa gloire et Sa puissance mais Achaz ne voulait même pas demander. Si Dieu S’était manifesté, cela aurait perturbé son style de vie centré sur lui-même.

Un homme aveugle de Jéricho savait ce qu’il voulait, lui, et il n’a pas eu peur de demander. Les cris de Bartim��e ont arrêté Jésus. L’homme a chancelé jusqu’à Jésus et le Seigneur lui a demandé : « Que veux-tu que je te fasse ? » Marc 10:51

« J’ai une requête que je n’ose pas prononcer, Monsieur. »

Est-ce ce qu’il a répondu ? Pas du tout ! L’homme aveugle savait ce qu’il voulait et il était prêt à crier comme un fou, à affronter les reproches de ceux qui l’entouraient et à se rompre le cou pour demander quelque chose qui avait l’air insensé.

« Rabbouni, que je recouvre la vue. »

Il le désirait ardemment et il a traversé toutes sortes d’obstacles pour arriver jusqu’à Jésus.

Dieu veut inspirer ce que tu veux. Ce que tu veux révèle ton cœur.

Que veux-tu ?

La taille de ce que tu veux révèle l’idée que tu te fais de Dieu. La nature de ce que tu veux peint une image de ton intérieur spirituel.

- Si tu ne veux que des petites choses, tu as peut-être peur de demander. Après-tout, si Dieu ne répond pas, cela risque d’altérer ta foi.

- Tu es peut-être trop satisfait de ce que tu as et de l’endroit où tu es.

- Tu veux peut-être les mauvaises choses. Fais attention : tu auras peut-être ce que tu demandes, alors passe du temps devant Dieu pour faire le tri dans ce que tu veux. Le Seigneur nous parle de gens ingrats qui voulaient toujours ce qu’ils n’avaient pas… jusqu’à ce qu’ils l’obtiennent.

« Il leur accorda ce qu'ils demandaient ; Puis il envoya le dépérissement dans leur corps. » Psaumes 106:15

Si tout ce que tu veux sont des choses matérielles, cela ne t’apportera pas grand-chose de les vouloir. De nombreuses personnes pourraient chanter avec Janis Joplin : « Oh Seigneur, ne pourrais-tu pas m’acheter une Mercedes ? Mes amis conduisent tous des porsche, je dois faire amende honorable. »

Des désirs mal placés débouchent sur un sentiment de vide.

Mais si tu voulais plutôt :

- que tes enfants et tes petits-enfants servent le Seigneur.

- faire une différence selon Dieu dans ce monde.

- avoir un impact sur ceux qui t’entourent et améliorer leur vie.

- maximiser les dons que Dieu t’a donné et laisser quelque chose de remarquable derrière toi, dans ton monde.

- faire… faire… eh bien, tu n’as qu’à remplir les blancs. Sais-tu ce que tu veux ?

Comment faire le tri dans ce que l’on veut ?

Va devant Dieu « Marine » dans Sa présence. Scrute Sa Parole.

« Fais de l’Éternel tes délices, Et il te donnera ce que ton cœur désire » Psaumes 37:4

« Nous devons faire attention à nos désirs lorsque nous sommes dans la présence de Dieu, dans la prière. Quelque chose se passe lors de notre temps de communion avec Lui qui donne vie à notre capacité de rêver et de désirer. Notre esprit est renouvelé à travers cette rencontre divine, dessinant un canevas parfait sur lequel Il peut peindre. » Bill Johnson

Un jour, j’avais une décision à prendre. Quelqu’un m’avait proposé de m’occuper d’un ministère et je voulais le faire mais cela allait être difficile. Devais-je dire : « Oui ! » ?

En priant et réfléchissant, j’ai remarqué dernièrement que Dieu m’avait semblé très proche. C’était l’une de ces périodes spéciales. Et je me suis souvenu du verset : « Fais de l'Éternel tes délices, Et il te donnera ce que ton cœur désire. »

Je faisais de Lui mes délices et j’avais le désir de me lancer dans ce ministère, alors j’ai dit : « oui ! » Parmi mes quarante-six ans de ministère, cette année-là reste l’une des meilleures.

Laisse courir ton imagination une minute. Si Jésus Se tenait devant toi et demandait : « Que veux-tu ? », que répondrais-tu ?

Si tu ne peux pas répondre à cette question, tu dois passer du temps devant Dieu jusqu’à en être capable.

Une prière pour aujourd’hui

Seigneur, par Ton Esprit ce matin, Tu désires répondre à mon plus grand besoin. Me voici, que Ta volonté de me faire voir Ta gloire dans ma vie se manifeste. Que Ton règne vienne, que Ta volonté soit faite, sois mon Seigneur ! Amen

Friends of Lana Clarkson, the actress murdered by music producer Phil Spector, were protesting at a screening of the film about his trial. The movie, starring Al Pacino, focused on his relationship with his defence lawyer, played by Helen Mirren. But the group against the film said it was too sympathetic towards Spector's defence case. Roberta Flack was at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Killing Me Softly With His Song'.
