When I’ve been visiting my mum for the Easter I found a lot of old drawings of mine. For years I’ve been ashamed of my childish inspirations and silly ideas but now I decided to embrace my cringe and give you a little glimpse into my drawing improvement.

Primary there were three characters, Nikki Faros (I probably got the name from a Lighthouse on Faros…) appeared a little later but she was my biggest challenge as a POC and plus size person.

1. Year 2005, I’m 12 and a big fan of Club Winx, my first fandom and the beginnings of my internet addiction where I was lurking for pictures and informations (barely watched any episode full, only my grandma had the right TV channel). Inspired by the series I made me own “club” called Magical Powers (in polish Magiczne Powerki, lame af). Nikki was meant to be plus size but I only used to draw skinny characters so best I could do was giving her a wider hips.

2. Year 2007, I’m 14 and just started my adventure with manga and anime, especially Hellsing, which explains long Hirano-style proportions. I become more aware (even too much) about clothes folding but still can’t play with body size so Nikki became just tall.

3. Year 2022, I’m 29 and decided to make a direct redrawing of the first pic. Well, what do you think?
