was actually really impressed by what i read (webcomic called daytime star), not the most Healthy Couple(tm) ever put to page, but besides a few over exaggerated jealous moments on the dudes part and the assaults of the womans shitty ex lol they spoke like adults, acted like adults, and every romantic moment felt 100% both ways. the art was consistently really nice too. the biggest storytelling knock i can give it is there were way too make fake out epilogues.

I grasp your hands. Another pig in the trough of manwha. I'm not a huge villainess person, but obviously I have read a shitton of it. I read so much awful manwha, but the good is SO good. Everybody knows that SSS Class Suicide Hunter is perfection, but I feel like The Ember Knight is fucking incredible and not discussed as much! Everybody read The Ember Knight (if you like action)! It's incredible!

I just finished Concubine Walkthrough, which was AMAZING. So good! What a great usage of the premise! Chinese period piece concubine drama (a whole genre.) + 'player gets trapped in an MMORPG' flavor isekai + being ACTUALLY science fiction and extremely interested in the science fiction aspects of virtual reality. I refuse to read those gamer MMORPG manwhas because they're terrible, but Concubine Walkthrough is what you always wish those stories were like.

I also just read through My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me, which sounds like it should be uninteresting but it is shockingly extremely good. Very good character work, extremely slow and realistic buildup of the importance of the FL in the family, great politics/character dynamics, and the slowburn romance is even really good. Just overall extremely good writing and it was an extremely good read.

I've also been reading Until The Tragic Male Lead Walks Again, which is incredibly fun and funny through virtue of himbo buff FL and sweet and sensitive ML. The ML is disabled as well, which is also always great to see, although it still has that strange character note that's identical to Touch My Brother and You're Dead and associates a man gaining a disability as losing masculinity and blah blah blah woke brain off. I also really enjoyed Perks of Being an S-Class Heroine, which does a difficult thing and makes the OP hero story actually very enjoyable. I also re-read/caught up on Lead Me Kidnap The Male Lead! which is VERY fun 100/10 recommend. Also like a lot of other stuff but those are the ones I would recommend.

Thats actually a spilt! Theres two versions of this AU. One where the timeline is reset by Crowley and Yuu remembers. The other is that the timeline is reset by Malleus and the trio remember.

After Yuu's death, the kingdom is thrown into deep mourning because Yuu was actually fairly popular among the people. Crewel in his grief completely pulls his textile industry from the kingdom and actually moves away.

The boys slowly realize why they feel horrified about Yuu's death, they did care about her and they were blind in their own negative self emotions to realize that Yuu was the true light in their life and they snuffed it out themselves.

FL lead didn't understand why everything went to shit after Yuu died. She is an isekai who fully thinks of the world as just the surface level story she read and doesn't even think of anyone as a real person. So when the trio fall into grief her true colors of shallowness are revealed to them and it only makes them feel worse. Malleus in his heartbreak just wants Yuu back, he wants to go back, he wants to say he's sorry.

And then they wake up over 10 years into the past.

It just turns out to be a male body of a guard that died from his injuries while protecting her.

ML remains the same, (yes this is a queer comic), but the plots has to be centered around a) Female Lead dealing with gender dysphoria (Since the there’s absolutely no way of going back to her dust of a body) and b) the Male Lead bi panic and acceptance over falling in love with a man.

alright I was making a list but I can’t find it — so here’s a new one:

The First Night with the Duke (18+, isakei, comedy, romance): this is my favorite only because it’s hilarious. The ML is kinda a yandere but he’s actually not bad and it’s mostly used for comedic effect. FL is a girl who was reincarnated into a side character’s body of her favorite book and she’s just content to live her life because the character she is has a lot of money. she was gonna stay far away from the ML, but ends up getting drunk and sleeping with him. so what happens when he asks her to take responsibility for taking his virginity (and his heart).

The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail (historical / 18+) : read the tw, this probably isn’t for everyone — six year old Ines chooses Carcel to be her husband because of his pretty face. Carcel believes Ines to be deeply in love, but what happens when she finds out he’s cheating and she doesn’t care? (Multiple lives, cheating but kind of understandable(?), black cat x golden retriever)

Going to Bed with My Hater (modern, 18+): this one is so cute — the FL used to be a big fan of the ML, but when he started taking on mediocre roles, she blasts him as a critic. and then she gets drunk ends up sleeping with him, and has to be on a TV show with him. It’s so cute.

How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game (horror / comedy / fantasy / romance(?): this is an interesting one. FL is isakei’d into a bad horror game she was playing the night before that’s known for horrible game mechanics that are very punishing. she gets reincarnated as a maid who is a servant to the heir to this important family and seen as a savior — but he’s actually a murderer and the devil.

The Law of Being Friends with a Male (high school romance, cute, fluffy): FL has a crush on her friend, but her friend confesses that he has a crush on another girl. Friend tries to ask her who her crush is and she describes him vaguely and he thinks he knows who it is — and tries to set her up with his best friend, the ML.

my Cocky Neighbor (18+, neighbors to lovers): this one is a little weird and I would say the main gimmick of this manhwa is essentially all but ignored but putting that aside — I think the dynamic between the ML + FL are so cute. ML is basically your basic playboy who is annoying FL with all his noise at night. She goes over to complain, and he basically slams the door in her face. She accidentally curses him and he becomes a dildo…it’s a whole thing.

Marry My Husband (18+, revenge, second chance at life): funny I finished this one right before the drama dropped. FL lived a horrible life with her husband, and then she found out her best friend and husband were having an affair while she was dying of cancer. they end up murdering her and she is sent back in time. she has a second chance and she wants to get revenge on both of them. but she also finds friends and love along the way!

I will make an attempt to change the genre (isakei, romance, comedy, fantasy) — FL is reincarnated into the body of the evil aunt in her favorite novel — an antagonist who is killed off early on for being shitty and money hungry. she decides to be a good aunt to her nephew, who is the main character, and try to change the course of the story — where he ends up alone for most of his life after the death of several characters. FL ends up involved in the story and finding a love interest in the form of the Duke, who is the nephew’s uncle (uncle on his father’s side, FL is aunt on the mother’s side, so they aren’t related).

I thought my time was up (fantasy, romance, curse): FL has a shitty family and is going to die of a rare magical disease of which there is no cure. so she wants to have a boyfriend before she dies — she has strong purification magic so she makes a deal with a Duke that she will purify his cursed body if he dates her (and then they fall in love).

Not Sew Wicked Stepmother (romance, comedy, isakai, fairytale, mentions of SA): a woman is isakai’d into the body of essentially the plot of Snow White — her stepdaughter is about 11 and the stepmother was been treating her badly until she was taken over by the MC. MC just loves the daughter and wants her to be happy. She gives her husband the space he wants and demonstrates that she wants her stepdaughter to be happy and he starts to fall for her.

Age gaps

⚠This is me ranting and also MY OPINION⚠

What are everyone's thoughts about age gaps? because like for me I'm fine with them as long as they are legal adults and the gap isn't too much of a gap. Now the reason why I am saying this is because of reason such as is because of a recent book I wanted to read it was good so far but the age gap was 6 years the ML was 19 the FL was 25. Now the author of the book said you can change it but the fact that you were thinking of the FL being 25 is something I can't do so I dropped it.

The other thing is that i know there are some manwhas when the Fl would be an adult and the ML would be quite young but revealed was a child while the FL was an adult and obviously the ML grew up but like WASN't HE A KID YOU RAISED OR LOOKED AFTER?! how is that okay?! Wouldn't the FL think of the guy as a son or brother in these terms if they looked after the boy? The same goes for the other way around.

There have to be some lines you don' cross right? because like I know some people have like different opinions on this topic so please tell me what you guys think.

Okay one veeery small hater moment from me but it isn't really much of a hater moment but more of a disappointment irritation moment for a manwha genre that I've been chillin deep into it's rabbit hole, aka Otome Isekai (shortened to oi) is when I found this manwha that I already forgot the title of out of pure irritation that I somehow just blacked it out. The premise was basically like: I got trapped in a dating sim I played in my past life for 3 years when my first playthrough turned out a fail and I got sent back to the past to retry until I get a good ending for the character I possessed that's a side character of the game. And I'm so tired of failing, I don't need love to get my happy ending!

Like-- from the description alone it was pretty generic. And I, being the veteran that I am with generic oi manwha, already Knew what I'm about to get once I go in there, but I was like: "Maaaybe it'll turn out okay, I should check the comments." And there was a TON of comments with 4-5 star ratings, all of em praising the writing and everything and sayin that "it's far better than what the description says," so I was like: Oh okay that's good then! Time to check!

So I read through chapter 1, what the fuck is going on. The description made the story seem more interesting ngl, like I thought the fl has been going at it for 3 years with how it was worded, like she's just been met with several failures cuz of how the actual description made it seem how tired she's been but no. The story starts with her SECOND PLAYTHROUGH. So I'm like: "??? Maybe this is just the prologue" so I kept going until chapter 2.

What The Fuck Is Going On. The description also made it seem that she won't be going after any of the guys btw but by the end of chapter 1 and the start of chapter 2, she's already thinking of going after ANOTHER guy to achieve her happy ending and I'm like: "HUUUH???" cuz apparently the first guy she wanted to get together with in her first playthrough was your average "irredeemable trash" in an oi so like OKAY??? WHY WAS THE DESCRIPTION WORDED LIKE THAT.

And I remember keeping going until like-- chapter 3? chapter 4? or whatever, cuz the comments kept saying that "oh this story is soo good it's such a breath of fresh air from the other ois" And I got so blindsided by that one scene in a chapter titled "Ten Days" (hey aria how come you can remember that but not the manwha title or chapter number? cuz wait for it--) THE FL HAS BEEN UNCONSCIOUS FOR TEN DAYS!!! AND SHE JUST WALKED OUTTA BED LIKE NOTHIN!!! TEN DAYS!?!!? orz... that chapter bewildered me so much it's like it wiped the entire memory I've had of that manwha from before I read through it cuz wHAT THE FUCK???

Her family (which was the typical "neglectful family but is redeemable after getting a wake up call when the fl started ignoring em so now they're trying to make amends") was sittin by her bedside along with the typical "maid that's always on the fl's side no matter what and she's bubbly" and they were all distraught, the maid crying and everything and when the fl just stood outta bed with no consequences to the fact that she's just been laying there FOR TEN! DAYS! and everyone not even batting an eye at the fact that she's already up and at em when she's been unconscious FOR TEN DAYS!-- I'm never letting that go-- I was like: Holy stars this story is... people are blind-- And clicked outta that thing so fast it just got yeeted from my memory until I remember bout the ten days again.

MmmmMmmmm read chap 104 of how to get my husband on my side (manwha) and idk if i like the change from the novel????? This is the only change i dislike so far but idk how to feel about it

On one hand im glad its not a whole chapter of constant torture for Rubi, in the novel while she was standing up for herself it also sort of felt like she was still very much suicidal and just didn’t care even after her realization of deep love for Izek. I do like that in this manwha she’s not as careless but rather firm in what she is saying. She’s not laughing manically ready to die because she actually wants to spend her life with Izek. She’s sure on herself and simply telling him, no manic energy in it, that she’ll do everything in her power to fuck Cesar’s life if he kidnaps her AND makes it clear what he has comes from a feeling of inferiority and a power trip rather than love.

HOWEVER at the same time he barely touched her. The big moment in this chapter was everyone, including the og fl, realizing the rumors about incest and even the kiss they saw was rooted in a very violent abuse. An abuse mind you that the manwha hasn’t shy away from before this chapter (so why now?). It was a big reveal to see Rubi both stand her ground but also be almost killed for it. Having all the characters eat their words and realized rumors affected their judgement. Here Rubi was only pushed?????? They don’t really see the extent of her abuse??????? How she’s not really the precious princess???? Izek has seen it but not the others. Also it IS important for the rest of the story too how injured Rubi gets. She 1) needs help walking towards the dragon afterwards but can’t even see properly. 2) was unconscious many days afterwards which leads to her being taken care of and for the King and Duke (izek’s father) to be aware they truly have to politically react because they can’t brush it all to the side. Like feelings aside what happened was so violent and left such an after mark that they are FORCED to react politically.

Also og fl is so traumatized by the scene that while she doesn’t want to apologize she knows she has to. It sort of breaks reality for her (and her brother) but its also what made her connect to Rubi’s good brother (Enzo). (Only thing i do hope they change from the novel is that Enzo lives. I truly was upset he died. He truly cared for Rubi and she herself said thats the only person she considers family even without being sure he loved her. But he assured her he did). And ALSO Rubi being so violently hurt its also what causes Enzo to realize she was abused because he had no idea AND Rubi realizes Enzo had no idea and actually cares for her (because she thought he sort of knew but was indifferent about it).

Also everyone reacting to the scene and freezing BEFORE Izek attacks Cesar was also important??????? Rubi herself sees it before the attack happens.

Its just??? Underwhelming???? Its the culmination of the entire story even if it isn’t the last battle. Its when everything gets exposed and EVERYONE’S perspective changes, especially after they were disgusted by the kiss. Izek’s sister also realizes shit and not only feels guilt but truly starts to realize mental health issues Rubi shared with her mom are not something that primary hurts those around them, but they come from a place of deep hurt. Seeing the extent of Rubi’s trauma in a way makes her reflect of her own mom even if the mom didn’t share said trauma. Is seeing the physical representation of the hurt.

Like I didn’t want the chapter to be trauma porn at all, but even if they had skipped it and made it short, Rubi should have been a lot more hurt and we should have seen everyone’s reaction before Izek’s attack. There wasn’t even blood.
