How to worship?
This knowledge is acquired by me from my Jyotish Gurus and reading about authentic saints. I wanted to share with you all. I will be glad to receive your input in comment section as well.
What is the best method of Worship?
There are many ways to reach to God. But, as I heard from different scholars, bhakti is the easiest way. The advice I got is to start with Jaap. You don't have to chant complicated sanskrit mantras in the beginning. Just chanting naam jaap like 'om namah shivay' Or 'om namo narayanay' or 'Jai raam Shri raam Jai jai raam' is enough. Keep chanting the name of God as much as possible. And there is no restriction for naam jaap. You can even chant while eating or even laying down on bed. My jyotish guru told me to chant at least 1000 times 'om namah shivay' in a day. I do as much as possible everyday.
Whom should I chant?
You can chant any main deity. There are many deities in Hinduism such as Shiva, Vishnu, Raama, Krishna, Veerabhadra, Kali, Kartikeya and many more. If you belong to Smaartha tradition, worshipping Shiva, Vishnu, Ganapati, Surya, Durga is necessary. They have the power to guide you to towards moksha.
Should you worship if you have a modern lifestyle?
This is an important question I had. Because I used to eat meat and consume alcohol. I went to bars and pubs with my friends and teammates. I told the same to my jyotish guru. I also explained my high sexual urge. I have lots of kinks and fetishes as well. So I was doubting myself worthy of worshipping. He advised me to continue chanting as much as possible despite the bad habits. Through devotion, our negativity will reduce. He also told me that consuming meat is more harmful than drinking alcohol for saadhana. So.. At any stage, don't think that you are unworthy of doing worship. God loves everyone and everyone is standing at different level in their spiritual progress. Raam naam jaap turned a thief into great sage valmiki. This is the greatness of Lord's name. So never quit worshipping at any stage.
Should you do Ugra devta upasana?
I came across some people who criticize ugra devta upasana such as worshipping of Veerabhadra, Kaali or Narasimha. It is important to understand that every God has their importance. We should choose God to worship according to our liking. Ugra devtas are needed for protection and they are no lesser. We hindus are taught to be humble and meek. But extreme level of non-violence leads to slavery. Most of the greatest Hindu warriors were Ugra devta upasakas. I personally think Kshaatra dharma should be revived in Hinduism considering the kind of threat Sanatanis face everyday. So Ugra devta upasana is as auspicious as other type of Upasanas.
Should you choose Ishta deva?
Even shri Ramakrishna paramahamsa advised to choose ishta deva. His ishta dev was maa kali. Isht deva upasa is helpful in focussing more on what you like and bhakti develops over time. I personally like lord Shiva more. I chant his name alot. It's not necessary to have ishtdev in the beginning but you might get attracted to a deity eventually.
Respect for other paths
Never criticize other paths of worship. There are left hand paths of worship in Hinduism which follows tantric methods. It shouldn't be criticised and they have a place in Hinduism. Hinduism accepts atheists as well as charvakaas. Even shri adi shankaraachaary did not condemn pashubali(animal sacrifice). So one shouldn't condemn balipratha. Many archaryas spoke in favor of it. Panchamakara is also allowed in Tantric rituals. These are madya (alcohol), māṃsa (meat), matsya (fish), mudrā (grain), and maithuna (sexual intercourse). Panchamakara shouldn't be criticised and it's valid in Tantric paths. They are not done for pleasure seeking but it's a part of Tantric ritual.
These are the advices I got from elders and scholars. Happy to receive any input.

The Significance and Role of Vedic Rituals in Hinduism
Hinduism, one of the oldest religions in the world, is steeped in rich traditions and rituals that have been meticulously followed in India since time immemorial. These rituals, which accompany an individual from birth to death, hold profound religious importance and play a vital role in shaping the life of a person. Celebrated with grandeur and elaborate feasts, these ceremonies are conducted according to Vedic rituals, such as Havan, Yagna, Shiva Abhishek, and Godaan, ensuring that they are imbued with spiritual significance and sanctity.
Vedic Rituals: A Lifelong Journey
From the moment of birth, through the various stages of life, and even in death, Vedic rituals provide a structured and spiritual pathway for Hindus. Ceremonies like the Chhathi Ceremony, Annaprashana (first solid food), Mundan (first haircut), and Shraddha (rituals for ancestors) are integral parts of this journey. These rituals are not mere traditions but are profound practices rooted in the ancient texts of the Vedas, which guide the spiritual and moral compass of individuals.
Nature Worship in Vedic Religion
In the Vedic period, various elements of nature were revered as deities, reflecting a deep respect and reverence for the natural world. The Sun was worshipped as Surya Dev, Fire as Agni Dev, Wind as Vayu Dev, Rain as Varun Dev, Earth as Prithvi Dev, and Water as Vasu Dev. This worship of nature underscored its importance as the basis of life and laid the foundation for a culture that valued and sought to preserve the environment. The cow, regarded as Gau Mata, held a special place in this tradition, symbolizing purity, nourishment, and motherhood.
Rituals and Their Spiritual Significance
Yagya: Central to Vedic rituals, Yagya involves offerings made to the sacred fire. These offerings, which include milk, ghee, food, and Soma, are believed to reach the gods through the medium of fire. The Bhagavad Gita describes Yagya as any selfless act performed for the sake of the divine. It is a means for Hindus to honor the gods, seek their blessings, and atone for sins, thereby achieving both material and spiritual wealth. The chanting of mantras during Yagya generates vibrations that purify the environment and the individuals involved, promoting physical and mental well-being.
Shivabhishek: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Shivabhishek involves the ritualistic bathing of the Shiva Linga with water, milk, honey, and other sanctified substances. This act of devotion is believed to please Lord Shiva and bring happiness, prosperity, and relief from troubles to the devotees. Performing Rudrabhishek, especially on the auspicious day of Shivratri, is said to remove planetary doshas and negative energies, paving the way for success and harmony in life.
Godaan: The ritual of donating a cow, known as Godaan, is considered one of the highest forms of charity in Hinduism. It is believed to absolve one of sins and ensure the well-being of one's ancestors. This practice underscores the cow's revered status in Hindu culture, where it is seen as a symbol of sustenance and spiritual merit.
The Scientific Aspect of Vedic Rituals
Despite the rise of modern science, Vedic rituals like Yagya and Havan are often dismissed as superstitions by some. However, scientific research has revealed the profound wisdom embedded in these ancient practices. Studies have shown that the burning of specific woods in Yagya produces gases like formic aldehyde, which have antibacterial properties that help purify the environment. The transformation of substances through fire, as understood in Ayurveda, also highlights the therapeutic benefits of these rituals.
Shree Krishnayan Gaurakshashala: Preserving Vedic Traditions
At Shree Krishnayan Gaurakshashala, located on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar, these ancient Vedic rituals are meticulously performed by knowledgeable Brahmins. This sanctuary, home to over 22,000 cows, offers a serene environment where rituals such as Yagyas, Shivabhishek, and Godaan are conducted with utmost devotion and adherence to Vedic principles.
Families can make their special occasions memorable by arranging these rituals, which can be performed both in-person and online. This ensures that individuals, regardless of their location, can participate in these sacred ceremonies and receive the blessings of Gau Mata and the deities.
Conclusion
Vedic rituals are not just religious practices but are integral to the spiritual and cultural fabric of Hinduism. They foster a deep connection with the divine, promote environmental conservation, and contribute to the holistic well-being of individuals. By preserving and practicing these rituals, we honor the wisdom of the ancient sages and continue a tradition that has been the lifeblood of Indian culture for millennia.

How Mesha Sankranti Originated and Significanted?
Mesha Sankranti is made up of two Sanskrit sentences. Sankranti signifies ‘the change of course,’ referring to the movement of the sun or other planets. Mesha, on the other hand, refers to the constellation. Mesha Sankranti suggests that the entire day is dependent on timekeeping, a practice established in the ancient Vedanga field’s writings.
The Sun takes one year to transit through all twelve signs, beginning with the fire sign Aries and ending with the water sign Pisces, commonly known as Meen Rashi. The Sun spends one month in each zodiac sign, according to the Hindu solar calendar. As the Sun returns to the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, or Mesha Rashi, it marks the beginning of the Solar New Year, also known as Mesha Sankranti in India.
What are the rituals of the Solar New Year?
● On this day, worshippers wakes up before sunrise to take a ritual bath in one of holy rivers or with splashes of holy rivers.
● Together with Surya Namaskar, devotees should offer Jal to Surya Dev.
● It is important to carry out all Sankranti ceremonies throughout the Punya Kaal Muhurat time.
● “Om Grehini Suryaya Namaha!” is the most necessary mantra to chant on this day.
● In certain groups, a special drink known as Panna is made and served as prasad after the puja.
● Donating red and yellow clothing is regarded particularly lucky since it represents the colour of the Sun.

Astrological Significance Of Solar New Year
The Sun takes one year to transit through all twelve zodiac signs, beginning with Aries and ending with Pisces. According to the Hindu Solar Calendar, the Sun spends roughly one month in each zodiac sign. As a result, when the Sun enters Aries, also known as Mesha Rashi, it marks the start of the Sun transit cycle, also known as Solar New Year or Mesha Sankranti.
Because Astrologers usually utilise the Solar calendar, this is an extremely important day for them and is officially celebrated as the Solar New Year.
Hence, it is the auspicious celebration that marks the start of the Solar New Year. When the Surya Dev completes one year by traversing through all the zodiac signs, the Solar New Year starts. On this day, it is stated that conducting charity activity or assisting others can wash away all sins. It is thought that the 10 minutes preceding and following Sankranti are critical for conducting all rites and prayers. The deity sun (Surya dev) is thought to eliminate the darkness and make your life light during this period.
Is Hindu New Year and Solar New Year are Different?
