How the Funnie happens in my au. Khaji’ s plan was that the outer layer of dead skin would make it as painless as possible for the mantis blades to emerge. Unfortunately, because of Jaimes fear (that Khaji tried to circumvent by being not entirely honest), the mantis blades to emerge early in an attempt to protect him from the perceived threat.

A little thing of the Magical Girl AU

As any self respecting Magical Girl, each of the Twist boys get a cute marketable plushie of a familiar!!!

Each boy has a weapon and Dire Beast. Both boy and beast are bonded to the weapon instead of each other. But if the beast likes his weilder they will make it very difficult to use the weapon if you stole it.

The Magical Dire Beasts for Each boy

Riddle-Baby pink hedgehog. Battle form is a giant bright red hedgehog the size of a draft horse that shoots flaming spikes.

Trey- A big ass bumblebee, battle form is a giant ground wasp. Buries under ground to sneak attack you. Helps Trey bake in its bumblebee form.

Cater- Little caterpillar that masquerades as an earcuff earring, turns into a massive butterfly with illusion causing wings.

Deuce- Lil yellow puff ball chick, battle form is a giant blue tinted rooster that shoots ice.

Ace- Lil fox the size of his palm with one tail. Battle form is the size of an actual fox has more tails but hasn't gained nine yet. does massive damage over large areas with wind magic with it's tails.

Leona- A black lion, battle form is a full sized lion who's roar can turn magic and physical defenses into sand.

Ruggie- Hyena cub that fits in his hand. Battle mode is a full sized hyena that can make copies of itself. Used mainly for surveillance.

Jack- A wolf about the size of a great dane puppy. Battle mode is an extraly large wolf. His howl is able to pinpoint other dire beasts.

Azul- Octopus. It's actually a blue ring octopus, both in size and form. While the beast has a battle form, Azul very rarely uses it in fights. His beast is very protective of Azul and the Tweels in its battle form.

Jade- Lil eel that hides in his hair. Battle form is around 6ft long. Its bite transfers power to allies and works in tandem with Floyd's beast.

Floyd- Lil eel that hides in his hair. Battle form is around 6ft long. Its bite can suck out power from enemies and works in tandem with Jade's beast.

Kalim- A hamster! Loves eating and honestly acts as an infinity purse. Battle form is around the size of an elephant and can take damage like a brick wall getting a water balloon thrown at it. Very rare to see in battle form.

Jamil- A snake, around 3ft long. Camouflages as one of his braids. Battle form is a king cobra that turns into a tattoo to immobilize enemies.

Vil- A tarantula. A dark purple with highlights of neon purple. Battle form is the size of a massive tank. Can spit venom in battle form. Vil brushes his beasts fur to keep them neat.

Rook- A hawk the size of a robin. Battle form is large enough to carry Rook and a few others. No secondary power past excellent flying abilities.

Epel- An orchid mantis that looks like an apple blossom. Battle form is massive, but smaller than Vil's tarantula. Hands become bladed and can do slash attacks.

Idia- Screech Owl. Looking at it in the dark gives it the silhouette of a cat. Battle form has it gaining mass out of fire to have its second form made entirely of flames. Another very protective beast, but Idia has made sure it knows to protect Ortho over him.

Ortho- Does not have a beast nor weapon.

Malleus- A lil dragon. Malleus named it Gaogao. Battle form is basically Maleficent's dragon form. It doesn't so much as breathe fire as its roar makes thorny vines attack.

Lilia- A bat♡. Just an average sized bat who is actually the mother of the massive swarm of bats that normally follows Lilia around. Battle form is more so the mama bat psychically controls the whole swarm to attack.

Silver- Baby fawn that fits in his hand. Only sleeps in Silver's hand. Battle form is a giant ass 14-point stag. The horns are able to pierce through any defense.

Sebek- A shiba inu. Literally just a fucking shiba inu, just as loud and loyal as Sebek is. Battle form has its fluffy fur spike out into lightning. While it zips around just as fast as Sebek can, it does not like water and if wet will start screaming.

Yes, all of these beasts have names. NO I HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF A SINGLE ONE XD this AU is already so extensive and it's not even funny anymore.

Have we talked about Mantis is the monster au yet? If not, how haven't we, she'd vibe so hard with Researcher (much like Witch!Chief)! I feel like Mantis (if this version of Mantis is more like how she was before she became more animalistic) would be thrilled with Researcher studying monster girls and just study Researcher from a distance for a while. She and Researcher would spend time looking at cool bugs and getting excited when one of the other monster girls do something noteworthy (anything). I'm not sure what kind of insect monster she'd be though. Actually would she just be exactly the same as she normally is? - 🏹 anon (too many ideas, too many thoughts, help)

also poor Harpy!Nightingale she'll go bald within a week because of Researcher's and Witch!Chief's antics

I think Mantis in the Monster AU would just…be a Mantis tbh. A mantis-like monster so to speak 😅

But even as a more feral and monstrous version of herself, she still retains the nerdy aspects of her canon personality such as taking an interest in research. I think Mantis is another person that geeks out with the Researcher, and while the Researcher devotes her time studying monsters, Mantis devotes her time studying humans…

If the Researcher is studying Mantis’ blade-like arms, Mantis is studying the Researcher’s smooth, fleshy human arms. It’s kind of endearing to see Mantis so intrigued with how soft a human is, and she really, really likes the Researcher because she gets to be up close with a human and see how they “work.”

Besides humans however, Mantis also takes an interest in insects and other insect-type monsters. She takes a peculiar interest in Drider! Garofano (even though she’s an arachnid) and tries her best to befriend any insect monsters that join the expedition sooner or later 💕

this wasnt meant to be a modern au doodle, the initial idea was ilyn letting qyburn operate on him to achieve max efficiency as a headsman, hence his right arm being a single blade (it also makes him look mantis-like, which is a bug sonoa and i strongly associate with him) so the in-universe explanation is that he'd skate around, pick up the condemned with his skeletal hand and chop off their heads right then and there. the isopod on his head is his little friend. the appendages in his upper jaw help maneuver food to the back of his throat which makes eating quite a bit easier for him. it ended up as a modern au drawing anyways cos i got lazy and didnt feel like drawing an entire comic

She’s a popular musician and models on the side. She has a brand deal with a designer. She still loves fashion in this au!

Dahlia is a spy/double agent for the rebels. High society thinks she’s on their side but really she’s on the rebels’ side. She’s friends with Ka’zalii ( @zetchrr ) in this au and imagine he’s her in with the rebels since he’s open minded

I think I’ve decided she’s public with being illithid? Maybe? It might make more sense for her to disguise herself as a tiefling especially with how well-known she is but I like the idea of a celeb/musician being publicly a mind flayer

She has custom eye cyberware (gave herself literal heart eyes because of course she did). The seams of her cyberware glow pink!

She has a hidden blade in her right arm. Probably a mantis blade because they’re cool! I haven’t decided yet what kind of cyberware she has in her leg. She definitely has an implant that lets her listen to music in her head whenever she wants.

Idk yet if she’s involved with the Emperor in this au yet. So idk if she’s single or with someone else or with him

This outfit she’s wearing is more of a casual outfit. I imagine she has more elaborate outfits for performing. Maybe cute dresses? She has a pastel goth style so I can see her performing in cute, frilly dresses!

Heeey, I decided to share my Outlast Hollow Knight AU with you!! Finally yay. Basically Outlast, if it happend in HK

So, it coexists with main story of Hallownest. Murkoff were there even before Pale King, taking insipration from Radiance's hivemind. They're unlikely to be described as a tribe, more of alliance, the main idea of which is to study the power of soul and dreams. They even managed to stay "legal", performing their experiments openly, in exchange for helping Hallownest in fighting the infection. In current timeline they had to go underground. Locating in catacombs near Abyss.

PROTAGONISTS

Miles

Is an outlander bug, a traveler that survived in places worse than Hallownest. He's a chronicler,documenting everything he sees. Eventually, studying Hallownest story led him to Murkoff and then to the Asylum. Miles posses a sharpened nail made from a rock.

Possible gameplay:

Unlike canon Upshur, he's built for fighting. His gameplay style would be agressive, based on parrying. Immideate attack after parry deals double damage to the enemy. His "immortality" is justified with Soul Lantern given to him by the local Snail Shaman Martin. It can be considered a mana vessel, helping him, a non spiritual bug, to cast spells and collect souls for focus. And he's just too angry to die.

Waylon

Is a noble bug from City of Tears and a mechanic, once working for Murkoff and quickly getting demoted to variant for an attempt to contact the Chronicler. Waylon lost an eye to infection during treatment. He didn't went completely insane because of the Radiance and Walrider fighting for influence in variant's minds, leading him and everyone to waking up from their lucid nightmares. Instead of nail he wields a key,which he once used to fix Murkoff machines and unlock doors(it's both a wrench and a key)

Possible gameplay:

Waylon is unable of using spells or equipping charms. He has only one charm with lifeblood, that can't be taken off, Lisa made it for him(she's a charm maker)to keep him safe. But he can pick up spare parts to upgrade his key and create builds for it. For example upgrading range,strenght, adding silk to the coil – which replaces both mantis claw and sharp shadow. Also an ability to throw saw blades at bugs. Most enemies act passive unless attacked directly, exept bosses, so it would get more platforming oriented making his archnemesis spikes and saws. Waylon's immortality is "justified" with his soul falling into dream realm upon dying and coming back, while his body being supported with lifeblood.

Blake

Is a cicada from Outerlands of Hallownest, and he's a chronicle, too. Blake's culture possess a very different attitude towards soul magic. They never use it for fights or acts of violence. Cicadas achive perfect focus through singing and synchronizing their songs. Blake and Lynn went to investigate the colony of bugs, that are more likely to be a cult, than just a settelment. Really, pretty simillar to o2 plot, nothing too different. Exepet Blake somehow thought of getting himself a weapon from stick, and is led by Lynn's voice.

Possible gameplay:

It would be tied to sound a lot. For example, using singing lights up the corners of dark areas and spikes/enemies in them. Some blind enemies are triggered with sound. Different "spell"(scream) is used to scare away/stun enemies. Blake uses silk binds to heal himself, unable to use perfeft focus due to the broken wing.

What if... Cyberpunk 2077 x Warframe 1999? It seems to me that Arthur would fit perfectly into this universe like someone like V. And I also thought that Aoi would really look good with Mantis Blades

And since I love Arthur/Drifter very much, it would be great to write Drifter as a character like Johnny, so that he is a construct

Although I'm still thinking not to rely on the story of Johnny and V and not to adopt the concept completely, but to just fit into the AU, where Arthur would be solo and Drifter would be a netrunner? Voodoo boy? Scavenger?

Hollow Dreams AU

Clyde walked out of the soul pool spa with a handful of geo, Hearing the scammers wails and cries being accompanied with Alex's nail thrashing against shell. It counted the geo and realized they had double the geo from the amount it originally gave the scammer, It figures she had scammed another bug out of their geo and thinks to ask the local bugs of Dirthmouth or any non-infected bugs if they had any lost geo.

Little footsteps come nearing closer to Clyde and it felt the tug of the other half of it's charm by it's side, a small buzzing sensation flows through Clyde as it looks down at a moss of hair with two sharp horns peaking through the greenery.

"Did you uhh- kill her?" Clyde asked.

Alex looks up at Clyde, the deep empty void eyes stare back at it fills it with an odd sense of comfort after being around them throughout their adventures, They shake their head 'no' before looking around the area, doing a little spin to get the whole view.

'Huh' Clyde thinks to itself. Usually Alex doesn't like it when something messes with the both of them and ends up ending their life, but on rare occasions they spare the offender with reasons unknown Clyde has yet to understand. Since the scammer didn't exactly hurt them it felt like a good reason to spare her, It never exactly cared for geo but it was useful in buying items from the shops in Dirthmouth.

Clyde watches as Alex run around the area, jumping ontop of platforms that doesn't seem safe and scaling the walls, They have a habit of making sure to explore every bit of an area even when it's already explored, usually to find a grub or finding a secret passage way that hides a hidden treasure behind it's walls.

Clyde doesn't follow them as usual, instead walking up to the tall glass window and looking through it to see the distant blurry shapes of the abandoned City of tears.

The rain pouring down heavily on the glass panel creating a rhythm, The glass then reflects it's appearance, Clyde focusing too much on it's broken antenna and bandaged up face, it slowly creates an outline of it's scar behind the bandage, before getting a brief flash of the infected Mantis lord...

...It blocks of the memory and instead let itself slip off into the noises in the background, Alex's distant footsteps, the rain pouring down the glass, the soft melody mixing within the rain, slowly it lets it's mind drift off.

Their soft deep humming echoed in it's head, the warm embrace of their arms flowed through it's body, their charms sending each others thoughts and emotions, the hot burning headache, the burning light that filled it's mind, the cold winds of the cliffs, lost and alone, where was it's partner? Before suddenly- the sharp nail blade hitting it's claws and tail, hurt hurt hurt it hurts- where were they why didn't they come looking for it? Why why why-

The harsh tug of it's cloak brought them back into awareness.

Clyde felt itself getting dragged by their cloak and looked down to see Alex.

"Alex?! Where are we going?!"

Clyde reassured itself that the area is safe if Alex explored it's nook and cranny top to corners. They lessened their grip and led them to a lit up room behind a few furniture, the soft pink light seeping through the door and Clyde grew curious.

They both walk in, a stage is set Infront of them with roses scattered around the neatly decorated room. Alex jumped onto the stage, Clyde following along them. Suddenly a butterfly appeared infront of them almost making Clyde slip back from the edge of the stage.

"I see you came back little one, and you brought a friend, how kind of you to offer me an audience" Her voice flowed through ethereally. Clyde noticed the dream symbols floating around her and guessed she was a spirit.

Alex sat down on the ground, but Clyde was still confused.

"If i may ask, who are you?" It asked.

"I am Marissa, a songtress of some renoun, huge flocks came to hear me sing, but something happened and they all stopped coming, i still sing but my voice only echos in deaf ears" she says sorrowfully.

Clyde hummed, thinking about the distant melody that it heard a few minutes ago.

"Feel free to sit down and rest, let my voice soothe your worries away" Marissa says softly.

Clyde tensed at that, but sees Alex looking at it and thought it wouldn't hurt to rest for a few moments.

It sat down next to it's partner as Marissa began singing, her voice was even more ethereal from her regular speaking voice.

Clyde found itself feeling it's tensed limbs growing relaxed as the melody flowed through the room, the scent of the flowers helped the feeling calm it's nerves.

But it's mind thought back to it's previous partner, their deep calming humming mixing in with the melodic song of Marissa. But before it began to spiral again it felt damped moss touch it's side.

Clyde saw Alex had began leaning on it, the wet messy moss hair sinking into it's cloak as they breathe in and out, they seemed exhausted.

Clyde slinked an arm around Alex, getting into a comfortable position as it listened to Marissa's singing, mind clear from any unwanted memories.

'Maybe it will be fine'

'All will...be fine'

Clyde wasn't sure for a moment if the second line was it's voice or another.

Marissa's song echoed the place as the two relaxed underneath each others embrace.

One I had for the buggettes au that could help separate the miraculous and calamitous is their tools. Playing off the canon weapons of the ladybug, bee, and butterfly (a yo-yo, spinning top, and cane), maybe the weapons if the miraculous could all be toys or accessories. Meanwhile, the calamitous have actually weapons like daggers, knives, bladed whips, etc. Could back that the miraculous are the good ones and the calamitous are the bad.

That could work as most tool ideas I had for the bugs were toy/kid related. And they could have more to them depending on the user and their needs.
