DPxDC Trials and Tribulations of Summoning

You know how in most Summoning Danny pieces, it's either some unnamed cult or John Constantine doing the actual circle drawing and chanting and stuff? And while, yes, it makes sense, consider this: Constantine doesn't know shit about summoning ghosts/entities from Infinite Realms. He is more than knowledgeable in summoning demons and biblical horrors and gods and whatnot, but the Realms are an entirely different field of tricky fuckery, and require a completely different skillset and knowledge of different runes and stuff.

Think about it like being a dentist and then getting asked to perform neurosurgery. Like, yes, sure, you're a doctor, and both areas are generally head-related, but it's not your specialty, you don't know anything about it aside from the most general stuff.

So, when the JL needs to summon the Ghost King for whatever reason, and they ask John Constantine, he doesn't start drawing runes on the floor. Instead, he calls a friend.

An hour later, the whole Justice League is graced by the presence of a very young, very obviously goth girl with a sharp tongue, who makes it a point to express how not pleased she is to meet them.

Samantha Manson is rather unimpressed by both the hero assembly in front of her and the alleged world-ending threat she is shown. She doesn't call for Ghost King or anything like that, even, she just clicks her tongue, asks for a pinch of sea salt, a bouquet of any flowers they can find, a mirror, and a few other nonsensical items of choice.

The threat is eliminated within minutes with a bunch of weird magic that no one, not even the members of the JLD, understands.

"You don't need the King for this shit," Samantha Manson says, brushing her hands off, "It'd be like fighting a single cockroach with a nuclear explosion. Don't call me again."

They do call her again, of course. Several times over the years of fighting off all the things that come for Earth.

Until on one memorable occasion, she does summon the Ghost King, and the teen angst bullshit goes from bad to worse in a matter of seconds. Apparently, the King is of the same age as Samantha, and boy, do they have beef with each other.

At least the world does get saved in the process, so there's that.

Siblings by trial and choice

So @noir-renard posted a prompt in Haunting Heroes a little while ago that's had me in a perpetual choke hold ever since.

When the Portal ZAPS Danny, he doesn't just get turned into a half ghost; he gets catapulted halfway across the galaxy. So now he's stuck on an alien ship, trying to deal with new powers, and desperately searching for a way home.

And my immediate thought was "How can I make this about Starfire?", from which everything spiraled.

Having assumed that the portal wasn't even supposed to be functional, Danny had absolutely no basis for anything that was happening to him. Not his new look or powers, not for wherever he was, and certainly not for the predicament of where he landed-- A ship he would later come to know as belonging to the slavers known as the Gordanians.

For all Danny knew, he certainly wasn't human anymore, and he might not have even been in the same dimension either; while Earth had been seeing more and more interactions with aliens, he'd never seen any quiet like these, and his parents had said that the portal was designed to view a whole other world.

And that was terrifying! He was Danny Fenton, just fourteen, and so far out of his depth it wasn't even funny. If it weren't for Koriand'r then Danny didn't know how he would have kept it all together.

As it were, Kor'i had already been enslaved for four years by this point. She knew what it was like to suddenly be cut off from everything she'd ever known, and the torment that was awaiting this strange boy that had appeared in a flash of green light. So even though she had nothing to give, Kor'i stuck by Danny's side.

Together, for the next two years, they fed each other hope.

Naturally, returning to Earth was a big ordeal for Danny, and by proxy for Kor'i as well. Over the two years they spent enduring harsh labor and torture from both their Gordanian captors and the Psions, Danny had confided in all sorts of stories about his home world and vice versa Kor'i about Tamaran. After confirming that he hadn't been transported to another reality, and that this was his Earth, Danny had been so excited to return home and to introduce Kor'i to his friends and family.

But while Earth was still the same, home... was not.

His parents were in jail; not only for their unethical and code violating lab, but because they were so neglectful to the point that minors were able to get into the lab unsupervised and one of them— Danny —was able to access their faulty machine and, presumably, died.

Jazz got picked up by the state, but quickly managed to get herself emancipated and now lived in some other state attending college.

The Manson's moved. Sam was a wreck and not coping well at all; her parents were considering having her committed to an institution for a bit to help her last anyone had heard.

The Foley's couldn't afford to move, so Tucker had to carry on with life as well as he could. He's quiet now, not as verbose and shameless as before, more of a hermit than anything.

And since he's been presumed dead, and can't figure out how to disprove that, honestly, Danny doesn't know how to pick back up where he left off. He can't. Because everything, including him, has changed as well.

But, like she's always done since the moment they met, Kor'i was there for him. And now they have a new family in the Teen Titans as well.

i saw another video on the it ends with us drama and i honestly don’t feel comfortable with any of it since i found out that just baldoni hired the same PR firm that represented johnny depp in his trial against amber heard, marilyn manson, danny masterson, and so many other known abusers.

like knowing that + the whole cast doesn’t want to talk to him or do promo feels weird. and the fact that now the dramas turned into bagging on blake lively specifically it just feels wrong. like im not saying how blake handled the movie is right but it definitely feels like there’s a lot more to this than what we’re seeing.

because if it was just differences in telling the story or movie cuts why is the whole cast shunning justin and not doing promo? especially with colleen hoover wanted him to be the director and play ryle? because why is a guy who’s entire marketing is “i need to tell this story and spread awareness” using a firm who has represented known abusers?

Marilyn Manson to Pay $327K to Evan Rachel Wood After Dropping Lawsuit

Marilyn Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, has settled his lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood, in which the musician had alleged defamation a year after Wood came forward with sexual abuse allegations against him. As part of the agreement reached on Nov. 19, Manson will pay roughly $327,000 in attorneys’ fees for the “Westworld” star, according to legal documents obtained by Variety.

“Marilyn Manson — whose real name is Brian Warner — filed a lawsuit against Ms. Wood as a publicity stunt to try to undermine the credibility of his many accusers and revive his faltering career. In comics i’m pretty sure there’s a lazarus pit in the batcave, and others in gotham. A high concentration of lazarus water per square foot. Add to that gotham’s various contaminated waters from various toxins and gases on top of usual run offs, and there’s a high chance everyone in gotham is contaminated by all of this.

Add in the popular head cannons and partial fanon of lazarus water = (in some form) contaminated or corrupted watery ectoplasm.

And if we go ecto contaminated enough = liminal…

Then gotham city is full of liminals, the most notorious being a handful revenants with questionable cores (Solomon Grundy and Red Hood off the top of my head), with Damian’s Robin a liminal bordering on halfa if you go the ‘raised next to and put in the Pitts’ route.

Hell if you want, most of the Batfam can be partially ecto contaminated if not liminal (minus Duke, i feel like he’s the only starting to) but no one notices because its gradual and they assume its side effects from the 10,000 + polluntants in gotham.

You can have anyone from Amity Park enter Gotham and go ‘huh, edgy aesthetic Amity.’ Then go ‘oh, sick liminal… which dork back home knows how to fix this?’

If you want Tucker can be sending Sam updates on Gotham’s liminals (including Rogues) which Sam is helping the ecto terrorist (League of Assassins in a lot of older portrayals) and Danny vibing working for (DC bigshot or group of your choice) as an engineer who says he’s bad at coding when no one has broken his code yet as ‘its standard back home’ and baffles his employer

Jazz can be attending university and has to explain drinking filtered ecto to her dorm, only for a lot of them to start managing things better emotionally and combat wise, but now have the urge to Kick Ass as a way to Make Friends.
