It's been a while since I posted something manga, and I've taken a little moment to show off this recent read of mine and the newest fave book ♡

Other than that, I'm also showing off a new fave character of mine, Vice Captain Soshiro Hoshina 🤚🏽 I don't know he's just so fun ♡

I also wished I've read this earlier because this manga is definitely something I can see to be amazing in the future. This manga series also has a current ongoing anime, currently in 8 episodes, updates every Saturday. I definitely suggest checking this one out if you like action manga and humor into it ✨️

since im caught up with the manga im just watching my fav arcs (very slowly because i cannot binge watch even if my life depended on it...) or arcs i feel like watching and seeing certain scenes or panels animated is just so good

bc?? i finished thriller bark like sometime last week and when i first read it i teared up at brook's backstory... but when i watched it i was sobbing my eyes out like. damn!!!

live thread on naruto oneshot (1997) as scanlated by toriyamaworld 4/?

- notes i made while reading continuation

- as far as the oneshot showed, takashi-san was the first person who tried to understand him, drawing parallels to his experience and naruto's experience. he's the first person who offered to be naruto's friend.

- naruto had an innocent, sweet reaction to it, too embarrassed and giddy to shake takashi's hand.

- "you're just not used to being friends yet." since it's late,

- takashi stayed up to watch the painting. unfortunately

- takashi was killed in the middle of the night (seemingly by someone he recognized) while naruto was sleeping. the killer framed naruto for the murder. he also took the painting away.

- matsushima turned up to arrest naruto.

- naruto's clearly clueless on what had transpired but they still took him away.

- naruto's shaken with grief. takashi-san showed him a genuine kindness and trust he hadn't received before. his village perceived him as evil that his self-view became warped too, but takashi saw him as a child with many chances in life.

- naruto wasn't born evil. however, everyone treated him like an evil being out the gate so he was rude in turn. he did pranks to scare people, he shat on the village chief's bed. he retaliated when people talked smack about him. but, as we saw with naruto's interaction with takashi and his devastation with the aforementioned's death, he wasn't mean in his core.

- naruto pleaded for a chance and kuroda took one on him. he chose to believe in naruto and told the police that he'd take the arrest and any subsequent punishment in place of naruto if it allowed naruto to track down the true theft and killer. he was moved by naruto's sincerity.

- naruto was othered by his village since forever because he's a demon fox. however, one could argue he feels very human emotions and he feels them deeply. he felt rejection acutely his entire life. these past few days he felt grief, loss, uncertainty, vulnerability. his quest with regards bonds was no longer just a stupid chore but actually something actively scary to him.

- in this moment, naruto felt a punishing self-doubt, so much so he's tempted to self-sabotage.

- the following scene was mimicked in the serialized naruto issue #1 btw

- here are panels from the serialized naruto issue #1

- both oneshot naruto and serialized naruto weren't the ones who rampaged their respective villages but they were both ostracized by the village people.

- the serialized naruto issue #1 mimicked "hiroshi being talked abt behind his back while naruto listened behind a tree" with this occurrence

- [except issue #1 was directly talking abt serialized naruto]

- back to the oneshot

- here naruto reverted to a warped self-view, the monster the village told him he was. while naruto had some cognizance that him pranking his village didn't help his image either,

- naruto did this as a defense mechanism towards the village othering him, treating him as a monster even when he did nothing wrong.

- also, the "naruto is a villain" narrative was familiar. the "naruto is someone you can trust" that is the narrative that's uncomfortable. it's hard to believe. two people believing in him? one standing up for him? one choosing to trust him even though he was deeply wounded before... it prickled the urge to self-sabotage. yet naruto felt it, the desire to "try so hard for another human." "mister, just wait for me!" he told himself just a few days ago.

- hearing hiroshi be othered made him feel more insecure... however hiroshi was acknowledged by one person. his friend who stuck up for him: "hiroshi isn't weird, he's normal."

- this is mimicked in the serialized naruto issue #1

- in both the oneshot and the serialized issue #1, hearing someone stick up for the othered incredibly moved naruto and brought him to tears. naruto needed someone to acknowledge him, to believe in him, to be on his side when he felt like the whole world was against him.

- oneshot naruto even exclaimed to hiroshi how jealous he was of him

- hearing someone get acknowledged like that, naruto chose to be optimistic. he recalled the strangers who took a chance on him and chose to take a chance back at them. naruto chose to trust. he also wanted to be someone people saw the good in. somebody someone trusted. somebody's friend. reinvigorated, he left to search for more leads on the murder and theft.

"You're not allowed to take your eyes off me" -Kyouka YUKIMURA. -- Kyouka YUKIMURA is one of the most intersting characters that I have stumbled upon in this manga. Yes, she is ruined beyond repair, and did a lot of twisted things, but that is what makes this character so intersting and special to me, the manga author did a magnificent work in writing/building her character. Manga: monotone blue

Made me wanna cry but it also was very sweet and I think it dealt with SA in a way that didn’t feel like it was romanticizing it which was refreshing. Also using animals as an allegory for feeling or being different was really effective.
