What’s a real necessity when watching paint dry? Yup coffee ☕️ The next layers in my video will be with more acrylic of course along with marks using primo elite organic black. #5000 I also will be wearing the little hack I thought of this am. The video is a paper piece 18”x 24” held with clips onto a cardboard box on my easel. Now I did it this way because my little apparatus from Henry’s hasn’t quite gotten here. That is going to really cool as it helps me fit my cell into a great portable Manfotto tripod I used when I did lots of photography. I can hardly wait. Photo credit my son. [Research] Keyfleas

Created by Miles Peyton, a first-year student at Carnegie Mellon University, Keyfleas is an interactive, enhanced projection experiment. Miles uses Processing and Box2D to create an enhanced projection on the keyboard. When the user types, the group surrounds the button to reveal the letters. In this list, Keyfleas is certainly the least artistic, but it gives a good idea of the use and interaction of the Processing language.

Keyfleas (2013) was an interactive augmented projection developed in Processing by CMU first-year BCSA (Art+Computer Science) undergraduate, Miles Hiroo Peyton. Developed in Prof. Golan Levin's course in Introduction to Computing for Creative Practices. Miles wrote the following text to accompany the project:

Although she has several ideas about the context in which there may be enhanced projections, most of the concepts are arbitrary particles that are randomly illuminated on the surface. There is no poetry, no narrative. Therefore, she did not project on the original keyboard, but on the Apple keyboard. Her reasons are both practical and conceptual. The keys are clean white and the Pico projector can be connected to a nearby table via the Manfotto Magic Arm. This solves the limitations of low power projectors as well as issues related to variable illumination and surface conditions. Her key calibration solution is as follows: Use the mouse to place the key border in the Box2D world and then press the key to map the body to its corresponding key. This calibration process can be seen at the end of the video.

But these are just technical considerations; more importantly, choosing a background in which narratives can emerge - albeit a simple narrative. The suggestion that parasitic entities are present in our equipment is a disturbing one that is disturbing. An obvious inspiration for this project came from Chris Sugrue's “exquisite borders” where light worms climbed out of the screen and moved to the audience.
