Sitting on Top of the World || Death Eaters AU | James and Sirius

James Potter was young, but he was a strong soldier for the Dark Lord, if he said so himself.  He was quite good and he liked when he was paired off with Sirius for missions. The two spared no victim, in the amount of blood and carnage that they left in their wake. When people begged James for mercy, he just hurt them worse and they fed off each other’s violent tendencies.  The mission was over now, and as he looked around, he spotted Sirius, and they were both covered in blood and there were bodies everywhere, and to make it better, they’d all been filth.

“Well I have to say that we did even better than usual this time. He smirked. “I think one or two may have escaped, unfortunately.”

Tenuous Travels || Ash + Alastor [roadtrip AU]

He swears he would break Ronan’s leg in five more places if it weren’t already plastered up.

Slamming the hatchback to the trunk, Alastor glares at the pile of things stuffed into it as he tries to riddle out how he got himself into this predicament in the first place. It’s not that he loathes the idea of taking a cross-country roadtrip. He’d fancied he’d do it one day. The trouble was he was doing it under unforeseen circumstances and ones he wasn’t wholly pleased with.

It was meant to be Ronan--his mate from pickup rugby games--and his good friend Aislinn Collins going for a trip. The other man hadn’t stopped talking about it over fish and chips for the past three months. But he’d gone and gotten himself a broken leg and a concussion from trying to do some foolish trip with a bike and a rocky hillside a week earlier and put himself out of commission. Alastor had gone to visit and as he’d walked out four hours later, he had himself an obligation to take the girl Ash on this daft trip. Ronan swears he’ll make it up to him somehow but he’s not sure anything could be enough.

“Alright. I’m drivin’.” After all, it’s his beat up volkswagen they’re taking and the keys jangle in his hand as he moves away from the boot to the driver’s side, eyeing Ash across the roof. “Y’ really wan’ t’ go through with this, lass? Y’can jus’ wait fer Ronan to heal up.”

The Little Things || Severus + Emma [romantic AU]

Stepping into the small home, Emma shoves her shoes off at the front door and bends down to straighten them just so before moving further into the house. She could call out for him, but she’s nearly certain she knows where she will find him and he wouldn’t hear from there. Her fingers tap against the wrapped package in her hand as she moves to the back of the house, passed the den, into the kitchen and to the back door.

“Sev,” Emma calls as she steps out into the lush garden--the real glory of the small flat at Spinner’s End--and ducks under the sprawling branches of the lemon tree. “If you’ve gotten bitten by the Titular Spider Vines again, I’m not helping you salve it.”

Turning down the path to the little opening, she finds him crouched down among a few saplings. She doesn’t hide the sigh. “Of course, more plants to add.” But there’s a soft smile on her lips as she comes to stand beside him. “What are these?”

Kingdom Hearts || Addie + Roy [medieval AU]

Some people might think that being king is full of ease and luxury, tucked away inside a sprawling stone castle with every amenity one could wish for. And to some extent, it is true. But ruling a kingdom also means being diplomatic with unsavoury men from neighbouring kingdoms, making policies on difficult topics, and trying not to go to war over the silliest things. So when King Royden has an opportunity to relax and forget all his responsibilities in order to spend time with his family, he takes it.

“Is mummy sleepin’?” Roy hushes his small son, nearly going on three years old, as he carries him into his bedroom quarters where Adelaide rests in their large bed. When the boy speaks again, it’s in a loud whisper anyone could hear. “Da pum’gin gettin’ bigger.”

The servant carrying a breakfast tray in behind them can’t help but chuck and Roy grins widely. Unbeknownst to their son, Addie is awake. Setting the boy down, the king motions for the servant to hand the try to the boy who eagerly takes it and waddles over to his mother’s bedside and loudly proclaims, “Mum, we brotts you food to break you fast and feed da pum’gin!”

As the servant leaves, Roy strides over and settles himself at the end of the bed by his wife’s feet and can’t help but laugh. “Tobias, that’s your brother or sister, not a pumpkin.”

I Am Becoming Death || Ash and Tom || AU

Aislinn’s entire life had changed.  What would have happened had she turned left instead of right?  What would have happened had Aislinn Collins not found her parents, not found out that she was a pureblood witch?  Her death eater mark on her forearm, Ash still thought about that day that she had tracked down her parents.  

They might not have made the list of the Sacred 28 families, but her parents were as pure as they came.  She tracked them down, she knew who they were and where they lived.  She had knocked on the door of the glamorous mansion, anger boiling inside of her.  They had all of this and she had grown up living on the streets and suffering at the hands of muggles.  A house elf had opened the door and let her in.  Marble floors, gold staircases, servants bustling around the house to ensure that everything was clean and sparkling.  

So this was what it was like to be a pureblood.  Ash had been tossed out like trash as a baby, sentenced to a life of difficulty and misery, and this was how her parents lived.  The fury inside of Ash was maddening.  All this time... and her family was right there.  And as the prim woman walked towards her, followed by a handsome man in a suit, Ash found she hated these people for what they did to her.  There was so much hate brewing inside of her.  The cruelty that dripped out of their mouths, the looks of disdain she received, it was all more than she could stand.  

She snapped as they yelled at her about not belonging there and demanding she leave them and their lives, to return to where she belonged.  Ash pulled out her wand.  The unforgivable curse was on her lips before she could stop herself and a moment later the room was full of flashes of green and they all dropped to the ground dead, leaving Aislinn Collins standing there and holding the proverbial smoking gun.  

Ash had dropped her wand in shock as she looked at the dead bodies.  What had she done?  And as she stood there she knew that everything had just changed.  The aurors would be coming after her, she couldn’t turn to Professor McGonagall or Lyra or anybody.  They would cart her off to Azkaban.  Marcus McKinnon would probably be all too happy to do the honors.  Shit.  There was only one person she could think who would accept her now.  Lord Voldemort.  

And that was how she came to be a death eater.  Aislinn snapped out of her thoughts when Tom- Lord Voldemort came into the room.  

“My Lord,” She addressed him respectfully.

- Amelia Bones and Remus Lupin - 1940′s AU - Cecilia and Remus are both single parents to their children in war time London, and have been neighbours for a long time. However, one night, a bomb falls just behind Cecilia’s garden and destroys their bomb shelter, and Remus instantly offers the pair a place to hide within his own during the Blitz.

- Artemis Clarke and Rabastan Lestrange - 1888 London AU - Jack the Ripper is making his way through Whitechapel, tearing apart prostitutes, and he comes across another beautiful girl to add to his list.

- Aurora Sinistra and Aislinn Collins - Fantasy AU - Two Princesses from rival Kingdoms have been best friends for years, and meet up secretly every couple of weeks by the lake in order to just have a chat about the war - but this time, they were followed by bandits, and attacked.

Seeing the situation, Matthew walks over to her and kisses her on the lips, and starts talking about being her boyfriend to deter the man to leave her alone.

- Emmeline Vance and Dorcas Meadowes - Apocalypse AU - The world is coming to an end, a virus having broken out and the two girls have lost their camp. All they have are the guns, and the provisions that they have left on them, to protect themselves in the wood until they can find the rest of their party, and get to safety.

- Emerson Callaway and Deion Abbott - Fantasy AU - Emerson is a mermaid that saved Deion, a sailor, that had fallen into the water. He, of course, panics at the sight of a mermaid and pins her as a siren - a murderess that had cursed him into the water, and she has to try and convince him that all she wanted to do was save him.

- Eris Rowle and Ted Tonks - Modern Muggle AU - set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, who is tired of them both being single and complaining about it - but they’ve already dated before, and despise each other.

- Gwenog Jones and Amycus Carrow - Current Era AU - Amycus is a muggleborn, a Hufflepuff that has just left school and is trying to get his feet in the world, whilst Gwenog, a girl that used to be his friend is now a Death Eater, that has been tried with torturing him for information about the Order. 

- Iain Fraser and Marcus McKinnon - Renaissance AU - Marcus was hired to kill Iain, but messed up when Iain’s lover arrived, and was killed directly in front of him. Ever since, Iain has been looking for the man who ruined his life.

- Isa Alcott and Irene Bowman - 1920′s AU - Two police women working together as a good cop and a bad cop in a murder investigation, when something goes sour, and one of them ends up getting hurt

- Jasmine Rosier & Tom Riddle - Current Era AU - At first, Tom only saw Jasmine for her beauty and her body, but he soon came to realise that she was just as dark and twisted as he is, and they have complete control over the Wizarding World together, drunk on power.

Judgment Calls | Pureblood Siblings AU | James and Andromeda

James didn’t like dealing with pureblood galas. He felt like he was above them. He was the only male out of the Black siblings, and he and Andromeda were twins. They both liked to be slightly judgy, but most purebloods were. After passing their mothers test of what the needed to look like tonight, he descended the stairs, unwilling to care about his other sisters or how they looked tonight, and finally found Andromeda. They were expected to look a certain way at these things and knew better than to displease their parents.

He then leaned against the wall, sipping a bottle of champagne, or whatever it was. “So, did you see how annoying one of the younger McKinnons looked when he came in tonight? His tie was a mess.”

Thieving Sleep || Ash + Alastor [criminal AU]

Sat on a park bench, Alastor pulls out a lighter as he tucks a fresh cigarette between his lips. With a flick and a spark, the flame trembles from the top and he holds it to the end as he takes a deep inhale and watches the embers appear, smoke rising. The lighter disappears back into the inner pocket of his jacket as he exhales the first drag and rubs his free hand over his haggard face.

It’s been too long since he properly slept.

And it’s that damn thief’s fault.

The Ash Thief, they were being called. A signature trail of ashes being left behind at each scene of the crime. The forensics team had come back each time with a different type of wood: apple, cherry blossom, cyprus, oak. Never the same tree (once it was bloody cigarette ashes). The only thing they had to go off of was that every tree used could be found in this very park. So the culprit had to be close by.

At this point, Detective Moody couldn’t care less where it was coming from. They just needed to solve this case so he could take a week off to recuperate.

“Jus’ let m’sleep, you daft fool!” he finds himself calling out into the darkness surrounding him. “I ain’t even bother wit yer thefts anaemore. Give yerself up so I can get some bloody rest alreadae!”

His Scottish brogue always comes out heavily when he’s shattered and irate.

Coffee Notes || Mike + Emma [Starbucks AU]

Another long shift at the hospital is about to begin and Emma feels as if she only got a wink of sleep after her last shift. She wants to rub her face but she’s applied her makeup and dammit if she’ll ruin it before her first five hours of work. So instead, dressed in her scrubs and hoping she did a good job at concealing the dark circles around her eyes, Emma steps into her local Starbucks and jumps in the queue. It’s long and she’s crunched for time. So when she nears the counter and spots Mike (she’s read his nametag enough times to know it) behind the register, she finds a small amused grin. Of course it would be him.

She gives him a hey as she steps up to ring her order next, mouth opening to recite her weird drink order.

Mummy and Me || Minerva + Alastor [baby AU]

Alastor can’t tell if he’d been asleep for a few minutes or a few hours, sprawled out on the small sofa in Minerva’s front room. But the moment he hears the sound of wailing cries, his body moves into action even before his mind catches up with him. He’s been camping out with Minerva and her newborn for a week now while his own flat gets renovated and he doesn’t know how many times he’s gotten up so far to look after the little one but it just happens.

Bleary eyed, wearing only his checkered pants, Alastor takes a moment to lean into Minnie’s room. “I got ‘er.”

Then he’s moving down the hall into the baby’s room, knowing the path well enough now not to flip on the lights as he goes. Stepping into the room, he begins to make hushing sounds as he reaches her crib and reaches in to pick the little girl up. “Hush nae, I got y’.” He sways with her cradled in his arms, waving his wand at the small nightstand lamp to cast a small glow in the room so he can see her little face as she continues to whine pitifully. “Wha’ gotcha this time, eh? Soiled y’self? Or y’ ‘ungry, little one?” Then he’s checking her diaper. No soiling. So hungry then. A quick accio and a gentle warming spell later, he settles himself with Minerva’s little daughter into the rocking chair and settles the nipple of the bottle to her tiny mouth, watching her calm and begin to suckle away. “Der y’go, lass.”

Girls Will Be Girls || Aislinn and Aurora || Fantasy Princess AU ||

Aislinn Collin, Princess of the Western lands of Carkesh, held a candle out in front of her as she moved through the secret passage.  While her guards thought she was safe inside of her room, they didn’t know about the secret way out of the castle, or at least they didn’t think she knew about the secret way out.  Because surely a dark passageway was no place a Princess would want to find herself.  Once she followed the winding passage, she found herself outside of the castle walls, and she made sure her hood was up to hide her long brown hair and her face.  She blew out the candle and left it by the entrance to the tunnel, making sure the gate was locked behind her.  The entrance was obscured by foliage and she peaked around the cover to make sure she was alone before stepping out.  She placed the key back on the necklace she wore and tucked it under the neckline of her dress and then Aislinn began her walk to the lake.  Aurora would be waiting for her.  

Aislinn hated this war between their two families, her father demanding her loyalty and allegiance when she knew right well that this feud was meaningless! Nobody could even be sure what the first insult or injury had been that had started this mess.  Making her way to the lake, a basket in hand, Aislinn found that she was the first one to arrive.  So she opened the basket and pulled out a blanket to lay down for the two of them, She also had a canister of hot tea, a couple of porcelain tea cups, two porcelain plates and a box of cookies.  War or no war, if she was going to meet her friend and fellow Princess, Aislinn would be providing refreshments as was proper.

Something There || James and Lily [Princess and Servant AU]

James Potter didn’t come from money at all. He had been raised with next to no money and because he had been raised that way, he needed to find himself a way to make money.  So, he had found himself a job working in a castle. It was one of the biggest castles he had ever seen, and he found himself working close to the Princess of the Castle, more often than not. She was lovely for a princess and rather nice, most of the time. He had been a bit arrogant, and still frequently was that way, but he wasn’t that way in the front of the king of course and tried to do his work the best he could, but always made sure to be polite when he saw the Princess. He would be lying if he said he didn’t notice that she seemed to run into him accidentally quite a bit.  He passed her in the garden. “Good Afternoon.”

To the End of the World || Cas and Ash || Pirate AU

Lady Ash, a name used ironically for Aislinn Collins, the second in command of the fierce pirate Captain Black, and the quartermaster of the ship, sat in the tavern, pint of ale in hand.  She was just relaxing, her shipmates all around her laughing and having a good time.  They had been sailing for weeks before anchoring.  She looked at the Captain with a grin on her lips, this ale tastes like water, I think we need a little something stronger.

Today marks the start of our second AU Event

WHAT: AU Event #2

WHEN: September 18 - 30

Since so many people enjoyed the last one, we decided to bring the AU Event back again.  So starting today,  we invite you to participate, if you would like.  We both have seen these sort of events turn into complete chaos, so please make sure to look at our rules for it, as a refresher for old people and to advise new people. Please like this post, so we know you are aware of these rules.

This event is 100% voluntary.  We also ask everyone to continue to do their present type threads, as well. If we see no one interacting in present tense, this will not happen again.  No one is required to participate, if they don’t want to.

If you are going to do AU ships and have a ship partner, communicate with them. No one likes to feel bad when they see that sort of thing on the dash. That way, they can brace themselves, or tumblr savior the tag for that, if needed. There are some people (especially Admin Tanya), who do feel like it can be used to abuse your ship partner, so be kind.

While we allow more than one AU, do keep it under control, and make sure that it’s clear what is happening in each one.

When starting an AU, make a post, that explains just what is happening or explain it in tags, such as James is a Death Eater, Lily works as Walmart Attendant, so people know what they’re replying to.

If you’re going with gender swap, send us the FC, so that we can compile a list, so that no one is using the same faceclaim.

Do try to keep your AUs from being completely unrealistic and make sure they’re original.

AU’s can wrap up at any time, but none will be allowed to be started after the 30th.
