As the number racked up and his designed personality become more fleshed out he stopped doing this, but he carries his first kills with him through certain mannerisms, though it's now subconscious

Also took various traits from movie stars and book characters. Spent a lot of time at the cinema as a young man finding things on screen to make a part of himself

Is so very, very fake. Has constructed basically every aspect of his presentation and outward personality

He hates being reminded of who he was before, who he truly was-- he’ll reference parts of his childhood in the context of who he is now and what he's had to overcome, but it’s more like he’s using pieces of his past to construct a story about himself. - He is a fatherly figure to Peni. I can imagine when they see each other again, she'd run to him and give him the biggest fucking hug ever. She experienced her Canon Event between ITSV and ATSV too, right? So I can see her needing comfort so badly, and the only ones she ever truly grew close to were Noir and Ham.

- He'd 10000/10 get along so well with Hobie. Along with Hobie legit mentioning his hatred for the AM, PM and fuckin NAZIS IN THE COMIC ,

he'd be rambling so much with Noir about common interests and get along so well with him. Imagine he badazzles him in punk attire and based on this image:

(I'll link where I found the image tomorrow when I'm on my laptop lol if I remember) but based on this image, he teaches Noir how to play the guitar and shit and OUYGG I WANNA SEE THEM INTERACT (they're my fave Spiderverse characters so 👉👈)

- OHOHOHO He loves the colour purple. So much. He can't see it, ofc but he has such a love for the colour that he sees any beautiful colour- or well, of what he can see of colours, and thinks every pretty colour is Purple.

- MJ see's Noir/Peter as a brother and he see's MJ as a sister in turn. There is no romantic attraction at all. Yeah, this means MJ see's Aunt May as a nice Aunt Figure she can go to and talk to about things.

Now onto some of my own headcanons- or some that I don't see mentioned a ton. These have probably been said before but oh well, these are just what I like and my brain go BRRR

- Felicia is taller then Noir. (For those unfamiliar, Felicia is a character from the comic.) Yes that'd probably make her freakishly tall based on how tall Noir is in the movie, but that comic panel of when he first meets her rots in my brain.

- Felicia still has her mask from her ordeals. However, unlike how she pushes away Peter, they actually become friends again. Comfort each other. They swore they'd never be in a relationship again.

- Noir is a combo of both his OG comics personality and 2020's comics personality. I see movie noir as anywhere between 19 - 21. He's learning and developing as a human still. He's calmer and kinder and resembles how his personality is in the newer comics, however, based on this deleted scene LOL, makes me think he looses his shit easily and goes actually feral.

- Oh yeah, Noir most definitely adopted Ding Ding btw. He probably is nearly at the newer comics stage of his life, being a private eye and such, drinking his fucking egg creams like newer comics noir SBSBBS So he found and adopted Ding Ding.

- Despite being young (19 - 21) he has serious eyebags man, dudes sleep deprived 😔 I'm also heavy on the Spiderverse portrait of him unmasked that I don't really draw/see him with facial scars but he could totally have them after the shit he went through 💀

- Noir is a part-time singer. I will not elaborate.

What things annoyed and infuriated you the most in Wish 2023 (or Canon!Wish)?

OOOOH BOY! You just gave me permission to open a whole can of worms! Let's gooo!

Okay so here's a list:

I don't like how weak the reveal of what Magnifico actually does is. Asha finds out that he doesn't grant all the wishes, awesome, that would be a cool reveal, except, it's not a reveal, she freakin KNEW THIS! Asha herself said to a kid "It could be you someday" COULD! Asha, you said COULD, as in, there's the POSSIBILITY he'll grant that kid's wish, not a certainty! Not to mention if he only grants ONE wish per month then OF FREAKING COURSE not all wishes are granted. Okay, case in point, there's no grand reveal that the king is doing something no one knew, Asha apparently just forgot how their kingdom works.

Now hear me out, I am NOT one of those people that says Magnifico is a hero and Asha is a villain, I wanna make this clear, because although I find people who legit think like that kinda funny and I reblog their takes from time to time, I also find it frustrating that Disney managed to make a STRAIGHT, WHITE, MAN, IN A POSITION OF POWER, MORE LIKABLE THAN THEIR SECOND BLACK PROTAGONIST! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? IT'S SO EASY TO MAKE US HATE HIM!!!-ahem- But, although Magnifico is the most likable character in the movie, I do not see him as a hero, no no no, keeping the wishes away from the people of Rosas is bad, pretending that he'd grant Sabino's wish only to say SIKE was bad, saying he'd never grant Asha family's wishes was bad. So, am I saying Magnifico is a villain?... No. That's topic number 2, Magnifico wasn't a villain, he was a jerk. A jerk does not a villain make. I didn't feel threatened by that man for not a single minute, and that's including when he was possessed by the evil book, speaking of which.

That dang book both ruined and saved the movie honestly, because yeah, although it's a stupid way to make Magnifico an actual villain, but in a way that makes us sympathize with him since he's not in his right mind, and the last thing you want is for the audience to feel bad for your villain... Well, there's exceptions of course, but that's a whole other subject. But even though the book caused all this damage, it also gave us King unhinged, campy, straight up evil, fruity, voiced by Chris Pine having the time of his life Magnifico, and I loved every second of it, I ate possessed Magnifico up, I was living for every cringe cliche evil dialogue that came out of him, like hell yeah, that's what I've been waiting for, that's what it's all about WOOOOOO!!! I loved him so much I just copy pasted his personality into the Magnifico in my rewrite, although, my version is actually willing to kill teens, while Canon Mag seemed more hesitant for some reason, my headcanon is that Magnifico was fighting the curse deep down, and that's why his magic actually didn't hurt anyone, so... That's sad, hope he breaks out of the mirror and kills them all Idk

We're on topic 4 and this is not even half of my problems oh my... Anyway, Asha is boring. And I mean like, in a way that feels intentional, how did they do it? It's fascinating how she has nothing going for her, she doesn't stand out, doesn't have any internal conflicts at the start of the movie, something ALL Disney princesses have: Belle doesn't fit in with her village, Mulan struggles to make her family proud, Mirabel struggles to make her family proud x10.000, Moana wants to explore the sea but can't, Ariel wants to explore the land but can't, Jasmine wants to get out of the castle but can't, Cinderella is a victim of domestic abuse, ya'll get the idea, all these girls get their struggles that make them compelling, what's Asha's struggle that has been with her for most of her life?... Uh... Her grandpa, this dude we just met and seems pretty happy... Doesn't have his wish granted yet... Ok, what else? Oh yeah everyone in town seems to love her and dance along with her to show tourists how cool the kingdom is... Uhum... So yeah she has no compelling struggles that hook us with her from the start, and the conflict she DOES get, as I explained before, feels underwhelming.

The setting, oh the setting. Like, don't get me wrong, the architecture is pretty, but nothing about it screams SPAIN to me, where is the cultural food? Where are the bulls? Where's the stuff we associate with the Iberian Peninsula? They did such a good job in Encanto, what the heck happened? Oh and did I mention that most of the animals that appear in the forest are not even native to the Iberian Peninsula, there would be no racoons in a medieval setting there, considering they're an invasive species that was brought there from North America, something that, I assume, wouldn't be possible back then, as I don't think the americas were even discovered yet, but anyway, there they are, racoons hanging upside down from their tails, something they can't even do. Sorry for expecting biology accuracy from my disney movie guys, but you can't just make Encanto, that was freaking amazing with it's inclusion of so many gorgeous latin American animals, and then do whatever Wish is, like bruh where were the Lynxes??? They're an endangered species there, Disney could've raised awareness!!!

Valentino was absurdly annoying, and it would be SO EASY to make a baby goat cute! Baby. Goats. Are. Cute. SO WHY DID YOU MAKE HIM UNFUNNY GOAT THAT MAKES BUTT JOKES???

Characters were unmemorable, Asha's mom didn't do anything, Sabino, whose supposed to be the backbone of the story, is barely a character, and again, it's not like Disney hasn't made likable elderly people before, Moana's grandma, Mama Coco, but my guy Sabino was just... There.

Aaaand I probably could go on and on but I can't think of anything else, feel free to share your own problems with the movie yall.

Hii after tld I am trying to read the comics but I don’t know where to start, can you recommend me anything pls:3

Thanks for asking! Here are the most symbrocky of the comics. There are other good Venom comics, but this is where I'd start to fill in everything the movie left out:

“The Hunger” 1996 -- that's where I got my Tumblr banner image from. The most symbrock of any of the comics, in my opinion, even without saying anything outright. It explores the bond between Eddie and Symby and has a uniquely dark, eerie tone without going overboard on the edgelordness. I bought the whole volume it's collected in just for that storyline.

Mike Costa run, starting at issue #5 (the first four issues feature Symby getting abused by its host to the point that it regresses and is unable to speak properly. Eddie only shows up in Issues #5). I'm still unclear on why Eddie asked Liz Allen out other than to no homo a run full of "my love," "my darling," and literally giving birth together...clearly, it did not work.

"First Host" -- the Mike Costa extra featuring the symbrock baby, Sleeper.

Marvel Presents #5 (2019)  -- It's a collection of Marvel stories, one of which features Eddie and Symby getting intimate. I have mixed feelings about choices made in part of the comic, and the art is terrible, but the actual intimacy is great! Also, it's barely PG-13, it's all implied and more psychological than anything else and inspired me to write a fic, it was so validating.

For non-specifically symbrock content after the cut!

David Michelinie wrote some great general Venom stories I recommend checking out. Even without overt symbrock (which is just one aspect of the characters!), and the absence of Symby's voice, you feel like he gets the characters and his writing isn't all doom-and-gloom.

"Venom: Seed of Darkness" (Len Kaminski, who also has good content) -- Not symbrock; this takes place while Eddie is still a reporter, but it shows how and why he'd bond so closely with Symby even without their mutual hatred of Spider-Man. Everyone is afraid of the alien monster he's reporting on; he's fascinated and even sympathetic iir.

Carnage (2015) -- It's dark and spooky and while it features Eddie, he's bonded to a different symbiote and the symbiotes are not the focus of the story. I like it for the Lovecraftian elements and characterization of Eddie, who seems more like himself than in other recent comics--a bit of a himbo, trying to do the right thing, loves kids, and is generally respectful of women (bunch of female characters in this one).

I also like the Agent Venom comics, though Eddie only briefly appears and Symby is bonded with Flash Thompson, the soldier who lost his legs in the movie. Those are just generally solid action comics with some character development for Flash.

I do not personally recommend the other pre-Costa 2000s Venom comics, as they mostly feature Eddie and Symby hating each other to various extremes and being generally very OOC. This is the era when Venom got dark and edgy and weird in a bad way, with Eddie going off the rails and Symby having a variety of awful hosts. Some good stuff to cherry pick, like Symby still loving Eddie when it sees him in that Anti-Venom getup, but generally bad, bad, bad imo.

I'm only current as of the beginning of Donny Cates's run, as I didn't like where he was going with it and the Look How Dark and Edgy This Is of it all. He also was disrespectful to fans who shipped symbrock (despite it being canon in the Costa run) and tried to no homo it...by having them co-raise a son and having Symby tell Eddie "I love you." Whatever he intended, he clearly backed away from the symbrock so hard he bumped into himself. All that being said, he does explore what Eddie and Symby mean to each other and packs in some good grieving from Eddie when he loses Symby (....who is a dog at the beginning of the run...)

Still, I'm sure there's a lot to like in there even if his dismissal of fans and worship by dudebros has always left a bad taste in my mouth and I stopped reading relatively soon.

I'd avoid Venom: The Madness, too. Hate that one!

Something to be aware of is that both Eddie and the symbiote are very different in the comics than they are in the movie! It varies from writer to writer, but Symby isn't as vocal and sassy and Eddie is just a different character with certain constants that didn't make it into the movie much--a difficult childhood with a distant father, loves kids, uses big words, Catholic, bodybuilder, generally respectful of women (okay that might just be my opinion after reading a lot of comics and cherry-picking the series I like--do not read Venom: The Madness!), and wants to protect innocents, his defining trait.

I am notoriously bad at keeping my lists down to any reasonable number so I'm going to give myself very specific parameters: This is a character who (a) I love so deeply I would do anything for them, (b) they would murder someone, and (c) there is someone in their show who, if they murdered, I would support their gay crime. Ok with those caveats let's see how I do [spoiler alert: I failed pretty badly].

Ji Hyun, The Eighth Sense

Ji Hyun came from the country to the big city, saw a hot guy on a poster and decided "yep I'm going to learn to surf even though I can't actually swim". He almost died and decided to lean into his convictions even MORE. He sasses out his senior and isn't put off by his lover ghosting him. Luckily for them the people in Jae Won's life figured themselves out and apologized, because Ji Hyun was not going to put up with more of their bullshit. I would do anything for this man and I fully believe if pushed he would do anything for his.

Noey Watplu, I Will Knock You

Noey is a kid who ended up running a gang mostly out of care for his community. He thinks he's so much tougher than he is, but his bravado and endless self-confidence get him through so much. Still, if he hadn't turned away from that gangster lifestyle, he definitely would have gotten in trouble at some point and I would have been with the other aunties at the food stalls helping deal with the mess.

He has had a rough life, but is extremely kind, and I always stan a man who stays beside his in the face of external threats, but who also has healthy boundaries about how he's treated. The people in Khoa's life who keep messing with their relationship in both seasons....I'm not advocating murder, but if they happened to die, I would be there helping make sure they didn't mess with them anymore.

Ueangphueng and Fongkaew, I Feel You Linger in the Air

I just want these women to be happy and safe (with Mai). And if there's anyone on this list who deserved to murder someone as a treat, it's them. I love so much that they teamed up to take down their husband. I love so much that they found strength in one another. I would absolutely help them bury whoever they needed me to. And in a time when justice would not have been served for what they actually experienced, do I think they could have gone there if they hadn't found the other evidence to take him down? Absolutely, and I respect them for it.

Namnuea, Wedding Plan

This is cheating against my own rules because I don't think he would actually kill anyone but I'd do it for him and I know he'd help me hide the body so I'm counting it. I love this man. He also could technically fit into the ending category because he is (rightfully) surrounded by people who love and protect him, but count me in.

Amane, If It's With You

This is now just a favourites list but listen. I was ready to throw down for him immediately re: that high school crush, and as we got more of him and saw how brave he was through this series my love grew exponentially. He is mine and I would protect him in any way necessary, including helping him bury a very unlikely body.

Hira, My Beautiful Man

I love Kiyoi as a character so much and want desperately to protect him, but I don't need to we have Hira for that. Hira, on the other hand, canonically fantasizes about murdering his classmates because they're a little mean to Kiyoi, he's way more likely to need my help. And I love his complete disaster self so much. His arc is so slow across the seasons/movie and I know some folks got frustrated with him but he's starting from such an incredibly messed up place that the way his growth spirals makes perfect sense and is very relatable.

Koki, One Room Angel

This guy keeps getting into gang fights even though he's not in a gang, he's very likely to need me. And as a stoic, sad, quietly kind and perpetually misunderstood gay man, he immediately fell into my Love Forever and Protect With All of my Might bucket.

Kat, the Warp Effect

Listen, Kat could and would (and yes I chose this gif intentionally to invoke Wild Things). She doesn't need to because she has a wonderful group of friends who rally around her, but if anything else went down in her life and she had to choose violence, I'd be there with a shovel.

Ryunosuke, Tokyo in April Is...

I don't mean to imply that we want to murder our protagonists lol All three of the men in this show could ask me to bury a body and I'd say yes, but Ryunosuke is the one who might actually take advantage. Ryunosuke was fully evaluating Kazuma in this scene and he had good reason to. I fully believe if he found Kazuma wanting he'd find a way to make him disappear if he had to. In any case, Ryunosuke is in my bucket of favourite characters from this year and I would do anything for him.

Uea, Middleman's Love

It's cheating that he's here because really the people I'd love to help him bury were all in Bed Friend but in my defense I'll say that his energy in this show was 100% "if you hurt Jade who is too precious to exist I will end you", and I support him on this.

Misaki, Me, My Husband, and my Husband's Boyfriend

This woman went through so much self-reflection and growth. At the start of the show she couldn't hurt anyone but herself, but by the end? She was ready to hold boundaries and fight for her own happiness even if she doesn't yet know what that is and I am here to support that even if it turns out to be violence. I can't find any gifs of her in her happiness and I'm very sad about it

Nai, Shadow the Series

Dan is a monsterfucker and so he has my whole heart, but Nai is the one most likely to need my services. While Dan is in his feelings and obsessed with the supernatural mystery in the show, Nai is in the real world gathering information, setting up their bully as a fall guy, and generally being brilliant. Here for him and all his gay wrongs.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character? Lisbon: That she wears Jane's wedding ring on her necklace (and fully understands its significance/makes peace with him not taking it off/apologizes about it, etc.) and is so protective of him from the start. AND her lil dancing. Jane: That gift-giving is so clearly his love language because it's mine too 🥰 And the moments of life we see in him despite the tragedy, like building his sandcastle and making a daisy chain. Also, literally any time there's a kid.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in? Lisbon: Okay this might be silly but I kind of want to see her in Miss Congeniality because of the whole angry little princess thing 🤭 Jane: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, particularly for the Halloween Heist. I would loooove to see him with Peralta lmao

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like? Lisbon: This probably goes for all the characters, but the fandom thinks so deeply about her character and really digs in to the complexity and I love it. Jane: I love that everyone treats his story with respect and is so thoughtful about the nuance of his character! I also never ever imagined I'd call any man babygirl but this is the first fandom where I really 100% get it hehe

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character? Lisbon: I think she read at least one of Jane's letters every day and had her favorite ones memorized. I also think she put his teacup back together during those two years and just waited to surprise him with it when she felt the time was right. And that she would make his cup of tea for him when she was especially sad/missing him. I also love that she couldn’t answer when Jane called because it meant she had a voicemail from him, and I think she listened to it over and over. Jane: I think he buys or makes gifts for Angela and Charlotte on their birthdays and keeps them somewhere special (since we know he doesn't visit their graves to mark the anniversary). I also think he collected memories to share with Lisbon with the hope that he'd get to tell her and brought her some sort of gift, like a seashell.

Jane: 👀 reminds me of Jane because he really embodies that emoji lol (also 🐸) and this 😌 reminds me of both of them (especially with a flower tucked behind their ear)

Thoughts on the conclusion of Gotham War

Alright, so I've made it absolutely no secret that I've been enjoying the crap out of Gotham War. Is it structurally sound with good pacing and clear stakes? HELL no. It's not an air tight story, there are so many holes in all of the characters logic, but it is also an extremely good time.

I don't mind loose storylines in comics like this. Mostly because the premise "full grown man dresses up as a bat and cannot stop himself from mass adopting every orphan that looks like him" is already so ridiculous that anything they posit as a solution in their "war on crime" I think, "Yeah, I can see that." None of the rules of this world make sense.

But I don't really read most things for their air tight plot. Slight detour (There's a point, I swear!), but some perfect examples of this are Puss in Boots and the Last Wish and The Super Mario Bro movie. The last wish is PHENOMENAL. A literal work of art. I've seen it so many times and just basked in it's beauty. Love everything about it, absolutely stellar. But do you know what movie made me look up fan content, read fics, and forced me to buy the digital copy of the movie before the DVD came out? Yep. Mario Bros.

Why? Because I like stories about brothers who love each other and the mario movie gave me exactly that. It's not an air tight, phenomonal story with gorgeous real world applications, but it gave me a fun time where two characters worried about each other incessantly and honestly? that is what I'm here for.

So back to Gotham War. If I'm not actually looking for a ground breaking story (which honestly, I know those happen in these big super hero comic books but I feel like they're usually the *exception* rather than the rule) and just want good character interactions, then Gotham War delivered phenomenally. Especially since my favorite character was the one constantly being wrung through the wringer.

It was a great time. I enjoyed reading it, the art is better than anything I could ever produce even when the characters made weird faces. It was great. But did they stick the ending?

Eh, endings are hard. I would love to see more consequences for Bruce. Him just going off at the end and getting away with the horrible things he did to Jason is annoying. I almost wanted Jason to actually die at the end there, just so that Bruce would feel stupid and sad. If Bruce never acknowledges what he did to Jason (which . . . he probably won't, given the track record) then I'll be pretty disappointed. That's some juicy angst right there that should absolutely be addressed.

And I appreciated that literally every character that interacted with Bruce that knew about what he'd done yelled at him for it. Even Dick's seeming about-face at the end with "I'm sure you had your reasons" came after two weeks of getting used to the idea AND him trying to actually get Bruce to make good choices for once. I mean, Bruce doesn't, but A for effort, Dick. Thanks for punching him in the face last time, that was cathartic.

I surprisingly really like the fact that it wasn't Zur who did this to Jason. It was Bruce. Horrible, wacked-out, messed up Bruce Wayne who is so desperate to control everything around him and so terrified of losing the people he loves that he constantly overrides them like they're his freaking pets. Bruce is in a BAD place, and I sure hope that there will be tons of fics exploring that even if canon never acknowledges it.

But that's how I deal with comic universes like this. Everyone jokes that "Canon? what canon!" and we all laugh but honestly . . .yeah. Like, seriously. Canon is whatever works for the writer's plot in the moment. They make stuff up and contradict themselves all the time. They're constantly retconning stuff. It doesn't take away from any of the stories I like, I can still read them. And at this point, legitimately, I approach every single comic I come up on as though it's an AU. There is no canon timeline for me, because it's too messy. DC is literally just an AO3 platform that's allowed to make money.

Because the people who originally created these characters are long gone. These guys (gender neutral) writing and drawing the comics now are just fans like we all are. It's all fake. None of it is real. So let's all just have a good time.

I was talking to some friends about this and they pointed out, "It's difficult because people feel like when they're constantly screwing around with things like that why should they even care about the characters?" And they were absolutely right, that's extremely frustrating to deal with. I put a lot of emotional investment into characters, but every writer is going to approach the characters differently and with a universe like DC has, you just have to roll with it. There are no stakes. We all complain about it, but nothing is done to change it because we love these characters and we'll keep coming back for more, and so they keep having to make more content and that means messing with stuff they already have. It's a never ending cycle. These are living legends, mythology that's being written out in real time. Nothing about them are ever going to be cohesive.

Wow this is getting long, sorry about that. Things I loved about the Gotham War conclusion: Jason almost sacrificing himself and being a hero even though he was terrified. A+ content. Gorgeous, you go my boy! Tim telling everyone how to beat up all the rouges (Good job sweetheart, way to be a morally ambiguous little shit like you always are). Even if he claimed to be the second best robin at the end, those are fighting words my man. I also liked Jason's "Go 'save' another one of your sons." jab. That was great. I liked that everyone told Bruce he was wrong, even if it could have been stronger. The rest of the issue was plot stuff that I didn't really care too much about. I really like Bat/Cat, so I didn't mind those scenes too much even though Bruce is still the worst (affectionate AND derogatory).

I didn't really expect anything spectacular from the conclusion, and it really did end kind of like what I expected (nothing's changed except now Jason gets to deal with the Joker when he's sick with Super Anxiety -- which I actually am really excited for). But it wasn't as much fun as some of the previous issues.

That said, I would not mind owning an omnibus of all the gotham war issues, if just to re-read all of my favorite scenes. There were some truly unhinged crap in there, and that's just my cup of tea.

Story telling quality? eh, 6/10

The warm summer breeze gently brushed against Peter's face, and the smell of Chrysanthemums, Dahlias, and Lavender filled his senses, making him smile; it reminded him of his childhood. Now, Peter's childhood was messy, that was the best word he used to describe it, but within that mess was you. Peter met you when he was very young. After his parents died in a plane crash, which led him to live with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. He was deeply grateful to his Aunt and Uncle for taking him in and making sure he was fed, clothed, and well taken care of. The love they had for him made the pain of his parent's death a bit easier for him to bear. 

And when Peter met you, at the age of ten, he knew you and him were going to be fast friends. You felt the same. You had just been playing at the small park near your home when you saw another little boy your age, playing alone. And with that, you bounded over with a giant smile on your face, hands clasped behind your back as you asked the little boy if he wanted to play with you. His wide, surprised eyes quickly turned into those of delight, a bright smile appearing on his face as he agreed. From that day on, you two spent every moment you could together.

In the Springtime, you'd play at the same park, pretending to be pirates hunting for buried treasure, explorers looking for the missing Lynx, or  astronauts who had just landed on a new planet. In the Summertime, you both would continue to play in that park, running off to get ice cream from the nearby ice cream vendor, having small picnics Aunt May would help with, and even going swimming if the two of you could. In the Fall, you and Peter would play in the fallen leaves, play hide-and-seek behind orange trees, carve pumpkins on the porch of your house, and go trick-or-treating together. And as Winter slowly came around, you would both go out to play in the snow - even though there wasn't a lot of it - teaching Peter how to ice skate, and drinking Aunt May's famous hot chocolate while watching movies or sports with Uncle Ben. This continued for years. You were over at the Parker’s residence so often in fact that Aunt May knew your favorite food by heart, and made you it for your birthday.

As you both got older, going into middle school, Peter was glad to have you there with him. You made middle school easier to handle. You helped him when he never really thought he'd make any friends, and he helped you when you were stuck on something in your homework. It was a win-win. And though you both didn't have as much time to spend together, you both made the most of it, and that also went for high school as well. 

When you both entered Midtown High, Peter began to notice certain, small things about you. The way your nose wrinkled when you were concentrating on some hard math homework, how your eyes narrowed when you got to a really good part in your book. The way you smiled, teeth showing as you recalled something funny. The way you laughed, body shaking and shoulders jolting slightly as you did. The way you hugged him in the hallway after not seeing him for a couple of hours, whispering “hi, Pete,” into his ear. At the end of the day, you'd pull at his hand to drag him out of the school, ready to study together, or just hang out. You were also always there for when he needed you, either for when Flash was being a jerk, or when he just wanted you beside him. And how pretty you looked when you were just there… Existing... Peter loved all of these things about you. And it wasn't like he hadn't noticed these things before, he had, but this time he seemed overwhelmingly aware of them.

He was terrified at the revelation that he was crushing on you, and he didn't know what to do. Should he tell you? No, he didn't think he could survive that. Even though he could tell you anything and everything, his crush on you was not on that list. But, the more that he sat on the idea of confessing it, the less he liked it. What if he messed up and said something wrong or you rejected him? Or worse, what if you left him forever? No, he couldn't risk that. He needed to wait until he figured things out. So he continued to sit and ponder and think about it until his brain hurt. Which took a while, but he thought, in conclusion, he wouldn't say anything at all. Better to have you as a best friend and love you from afar.

His loss, since you felt the same. Of course you did, why wouldn't you? He was Peter Freaking Parker, your best friend since you were ten, and practically the love of your life; and had been since fifth grade. You were convinced that you were going to marry him when you were a kid. You remembered running up to your mother after a couple of meetings with Peter, jumping up and down as you told her that you were going to marry him. Your mother thought it was pretty cute, young love or whatever, but thinking back to it now, you felt a sense of second-hand embarrassment from it all. 

But that never stopped you from falling deeper and deeper in love with Peter. Again, how could you not fall in love with him? He had the sweetest personality. He was kind, and understanding, and always made you laugh to the point that you would hunch over crying. He was practically a genius, always getting full marks in all of his classes - you did help him with his history homework once, but that was neither here nor there. You loved how he would tilt his head to the side slightly like a puppy confused as he asked you to repeat something. You loved how he was so passionate and driven; he was always the one who pushed you to try harder or better yourself. And you loved how he cared. How he would always be there to cheer you up or comfort you when you were sad, or angry. And even when you both had a fight or disagreement, he was always there for you, no matter what. 

But, after Peter got bitten, everything changed. He got taller, he didn't need his glasses anymore, and for some reason... He could walk on walls? At the age of fifteen, he became Spider-Man. And you were the only one who had known. Peter needed someone to go to when this had all started, and you were the first person to pop right into his head, as you usually did most days. He was extremely worried and nervous about telling you, but after his Uncle Ben died, he had no one else to turn to. He couldn't tell Aunt May, Peter was sure that she would blame him for Uncle Ben's death, as he blamed himself.

He remembered that night. Climbing up the trellises on the side of your house, pushing himself up to your window. Knocking on it, he tried to control his breathing as he watched your soft, yellow curtains being pushed aside. Peter felt relieved to see you, your eyebrows furrowed in confusion before you noticed how upset he was. Peter's mind was foggy as you pulled him inside your room, sitting him on your bed as you held his hands in yours. He felt numb, his Uncle's death replaying over and over. He could still feel his Uncle's weight in his arms. He failed him...

Peter remembered snapping out of his dark mind and thoughts, his eyes met yours, noticing that you were talking to him; he couldn't make out your words. It was as if he was underwater, your words and voice sounded like they came from so far away. Peter blinked and focused on you, trying to hear you. When you spoke again, he realized that you were asking him something, but he didn't understand what. All he could focus on was the fact that he had lost his uncle. Tears fell down his cheeks, his hands gripping onto yours tightly. You stopped, your confusion and worry fell into sorrow, and you didn't hesitate to pull Peter into your arms. 

He told you about his Uncle, about the spider bite, about his growing powers... He told you everything as the tears fell rapidly down his face.

From that day on, Peter came to you whenever he was injured or wounded. Even without any wounds, Peter came over to see you after patrol. Peter would sit in your bathroom as you patched up whatever cut he had on him, holding a frozen bag of peas to the bruise on his cheek, or wrapping gauze around the bullet graze on his arm. Those quiet, almost unnoticeable touches between you would fill Peter with warmth, bringing light to his dark, messy world. They gave Peter hope that maybe someday, he could start to build a life with you, that he could stop worrying and just concentrate on doing everything in his power to keep you, and others in New York, safe. 

Peter would often look back on those nights, way past midnight, sitting in your bathroom on the closed toilet seat. You between his legs, wiping away the blood on his face from the cut on his forehead. You were so soft and gentle, taking care of him, apologizing when you cleaned the small cuts; hearing his little wince. You had felt terrible, seeing the pain in his eyes, and you hated seeing him in pain. You hated seeing him swing over to your room, either with a gash or a couple of bruises, always making you worry some night that he might not come back. But you were insanely proud of him, watching on the news when he'd take down bad guys... He was changing the world and making it a better place to live. 

Twenty Five Years Ago - June 4th, 1996 -

Digging around in the small first aid kit, you pulled out a stray bandaid in the plastic box, smiling at the design. You placed the Spider-Man bandaid over the cut, smoothing it over while trying not to add more pain than necessary. After finishing up with the bandaids, you grabbed the first aid kit, stashing it back under the sink. Leaning back against the said sink, you tilted your head slightly as you met Peter's gaze. 

"You doing alright?" You had asked softly.

Peter nodded, standing up to pull you close into him. Wrapping his arms around you, he buried his nose into your hair, inhaling your scent. "I'm fine," He had whispered, "Just a little banged up..."

He heard you chuckle lightly. Lifting your head, you leaned your forehead against his. "Good thing you're not heavily bleeding, don't want blood all over me." You tried to joke, your smile widening at the sight of his slight grin.

The two of you stood in that position for a moment or two longer, then Peter pulled back from you slightly, putting both of your hands on either side of your neck, his thumbs brushing your jawline, looking at you. "Thank you... For helping me today, I mean... Thank you for everything," He said gently. "I don't deserve you."

You shook your head, "You deserve the world, Pete. And of course, I would help you, you're my best friend." Peter felt his stomach twist into knots as he nodded. “Can’t just leave you here to suffer.” You then added.

Peter then let out a nervous breath, "Look, I've... I've been meaning to say something, it's just hard to get the courage up, y'know?" You nodded, encouraging him to continue, you knew he needed to talk to you about something, being best friends with him for so long, you could just tell that there was something on his mind. And you wanted him to feel comfortable doing so. Taking another deep breath, he looked away from you, his lips pressed together in a tight line. After a few moments, he sighed. "I don't know where to start," Peter mumbled, his shoulders drooping.

Biting your bottom lip, you tilted your head to the side, silently relishing in the warmth his hands gave you, "Do you... Is this something you could show me? Or do you want to write it down? I could get paper and a pen..?" You had then asked, and Peter took the opportunity, shutting his eyes tight to press his lips to your cheek quickly.

It was less than a second, just a peck, but Peter kept his eyes closed, in fear. If he opened them, he was worried that you would have some angry expression on your face or something... But when he heard nothing, he opened his eyes, seeing you staring at him curiously, eyes wide. "What- Pete..." Your voice had trailed off.

Peter gulped, dropping his hands from you and rubbing the back of his neck. "Sorry... I-" He paused for a moment. "I - I shouldn’t have done that. I like - like you more than a best friend should." He blurted out. Peter watched as your eyes widened further. You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. His heart began to beat faster. Was this the wrong time? What was going to happen now? Did he ruin it..? Peter swallowed. "Well, I ruined everything, didn’t I?" You didn't say a word.

You had answered Peter’s question with a kiss.

Present Time - May 18th, 2019 -

As the years in high school continued, you and Peter's growing relationship continued. When you both were free, you would spend every minute together. Watching movies together, going on little dates, and sharing sweet kisses after patching him up after his Spidey adventures. You planned to move in together, and Peter planned to marry you. 

Peter never felt this kind of love before. It overwhelmed him in the best kind of way. Every time he saw you, butterflies erupted inside of him. You were his sunshine. The one who made him happy, even when things weren't going great, even when the darkness seemed to engulf him. You were different. In a good way. Everything about you was perfect, and Peter loved everything about you. From your beautiful eyes, which sparkled whenever you laughed, to your soft lips, which tasted just like your favorite ice cream flavor. From your personality, always there for him and never made him question his Spider-Man responsibilities - even when your dates were cut off and he was sent away to fight Doc Ock or Green Goblin - Peter adored everything about you. You were the love of his life.

"I'm sorry I was gone for so long... Got sucked into another dimension and had to help this kid out… He’s a great kid... Everything's fine now though. I’m fine." Peter muttered, presently sitting on a small picnic blanket, just like you both used to do as children, "I should've come right over after I got back, but I had to do something first. I just wanted you to know that I didn't forget you..." Peter didn't hear you reply, so he continued, "I never could forget you... You're my everything. You helped me so much over the years. So thank you." He couldn't bear to turn to look at you, as he felt the tears pool in the corners of his eyes, "I know a lot of things have changed over the years. I know that I sort of fell into an endless hole of depression for a bit as well... I wish you didn’t have to see me like that." Letting out a sigh, he shut his eyes, "I'm gonna be a dad..." He basically ripped off the bandaid, a small smile appearing on his face, "And you would love MJ, she's strong and independent, just like you." Still with no response, Peter turned to face you, "I hope I've made you proud."

Your gray gravestone stared right back at him - silent - with your name, and a small inscription that read; 'Here lies a dreamer, a lover, and a best friend. May your memory be the sunshine in the darkest of days.' He traced the edges of the engraving of your name with a trembling finger. As he did so, Peter could've sworn that the wind suddenly picked up a bit, but he decided to ignore it. Turning to his side, he grabbed his water bottle, uncapping it; watering the Chrysanthemums, Dahlias, and Lavender that were potted beside your grave, as he used to do every Saturday.

"I have to go now... But I'll come back soon, okay?" Peter promised you, his heart pounding in his chest as he gazed down at the green, grassy ground, his hand still resting on your tombstone. He wiped the tears away, sniffling quietly; he never got an answer.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

His sheer perserverance. He will not give up. He will not have a bad day. He will not give anything less than his 100%. He will try anything in his power to get his way. Doesn't work? Oh well, let's try again. It's inspirational lol.

Also, in a more meta-context, I like how most videogame baddies have a "well I'll send you my minions, if you're strong enough to reach me I will challenge you" policy, which is totally valid! But Eggman? No, he tries to deal with those menaces himself (IIRC the only exception is most 8-bit games where most bosses are just his robots, and even then in S2 he had that iconic "saving Sonic from lava to kill him with his creation" scene). He doesn't delegate: he will see things through!

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Metroid. He'd thrive in that sci-fi setting, he would immediately plan the best way to colonize certain planets, and ofc he'd attempt to tame the titular creatures for himself :P I wonder if he'd strike an alliance with Ridley or butt heads with him.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

He was a spoiled only child, with the kind of parents who would hear that their son bullied another kid and be aghast at such lies, because their little angel can do nothing wrong!

Also, while his passion is ofc engineering, I think he had a genuine fascination with history. He wanted to learn from those schmucks' mistakes to do better :P it would also explain how easily he finds tablets of gods to tame and why he loves defacing ruins so much.

23. Favorite picture of this character?

Of course he'd have the coolest picture in Forces :P man, that logo.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

I remember not caring about Eggman until Colors lol. Perhaps a consequence of growing up with the Adventure-era games where he would always get usurped by another villain, so I was like, why should I be scared by this guy? :^)

I started to appreciate him better in Colors, because not only he was gut-bustingly funny with his PA announcements, but also look at him, actually getting very close to winning without any treacherous gods in the way! And then he kept the streak going! until recently Huh, will you look at that, he's actually pretty cool!

what backstory my personal versions of Gin and Vodka DO have — and my versions of the entire Black Org. team, too — is vague enough to be almost canon-compliant while leaving plenty of wiggle-room in case future canon declares any new information i think is interesting. it's not a tactical choice! working around canon to make things complicated is part of what makes playing with side characters fun for me. :>

also i'll admit: i usually don't think much about a character's childhood unless it gives something meaningful to the story. i don't think it matters too much why Gin got into the Black Organization? to me, it matters more that he's there and making it everyone else's problem :P i might change my mind later though, we'll see!!

for Gin and Vodka, at least, their backstories are more of a years-long, vaguely three-arc showcase of who they are at wildly different points in their lives together, which has some really interesting moments implied but not explicitly stated.

suffering from the aftermath of The Incident and trying to grapple with the fact that he's been working for an international crime syndicate

and trying to understand his role in all of this mess

and trying not to get killed by his new boss

AND is trying not to think about the fact that his new boss is SO scary and mean

AND trying SO HARD NOT TO THINK ABOUT HOW HE'S KINDA INTO THAT-

high-ranked enough that he can no longer keep working alone and he HATES IT SO MUCH

it's not just a blow to his pride, it's also all the paranoia. it's mostly the paranoia, to be quite honest

called dibs on the most harmless, pathetic-looking man he could find who still seemed to be useful. and that man was Vodka

even so, spends a good while CONVINCED that Vodka will turn on him if Gin gives him the chance.

BOTH

Gin keeps trying to bait Vodka into trying to kill him and is infuriated as nothing happens.

Vodka sees the bait and is confused at first, later horrified when he figures out what Gin's expecting him to do

as Vodka shows his usefulness, Gin starts to calm down. full-on Trust takes several years to develop

the first time Gin falls Asleep near Vodka freaks Gin out more than a little

“ARC” 3: GET A FUCKIN ROOM (roughly a few years before and into Canon)

Vodka: “If you want coffee you gotta’ let go.” Gin: “*unintelligible sounds of disapproval*”

they aren't in a romantic relationship. they haven't even had a one-night stand. and yet they carry a very "aging gays who've been married for 30 years" energy. it drives the Team up the wall.

before the Trust developed, Vodka let Gin control/initiate all contact as an appeasement/self-preservation strategy. at this point he still does it, but out of habit more than anything.

plot twist, Gin's actually super tactile with people he trusts. he invades Vodka's personal space constantly. it's especially bad when he's cold or tired (so, most of the time)

they know each other's boundaries very well even though they never, like, sat down and talked about it. it's been trial and error thus far. it helps that they're also good at reading each other.

Vodka's uncomfortable attraction turned into a crush, which turned into quiet love. Gin's wariness turned into trust, which turned into love. BUT Gin's doesn't think much about trust OR romance so he's not actually aware (yet) that his feelings for Vodka are more than Really Strong Trust. he also doesn't know Vodka's feelings for him (YET)

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

That he builds people up! He's the definition of a good man in my books, and one with true strength which comes from lifting other up, rather than push them down. If I could be half the woman he is a man, I'd be happy.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

I find these very difficult for some reason, but ... hmmm... actually, I wonder how he'd fit into FMA. I imagine he might get well along with Alexader Armstrong, and would find a talking point about strong older sisters.

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

...Maybe? I find having roommates a bit awkward, and it's different from moving together with someone that you are attracted to. I feel like this might get messy, unless we'd both either develop feelings for each other, or not. I could probably be roommates with him, but I also think that it could get messy. I just prefer either living alone, or then with a partner.

12. What’s a headcanon you have for this character?

I headcanon that sometimes, not often, but sometimes, when he is at his lowest, late at night, he ponders about getting back at William. He thinks about what it'd be like, to get some retribution, a sense of justice, even if he'd have to grant it to himself. At the end of the thought, he always concludes it not to be worth it. But the thought lingers. And it occurs to him, from time to time. He deems himself human for having such thoughts, but he also deems himself sensible enough to keep it as just a thought. Even if there might be some that couldn't blame him, if he did.

15. What’s your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn’t matter if it’s canon or not.)

Can... can I say my own? Because I am VERY biased towards it, because it brings me joy. As in, I will support anyone who wants to make an OC ship with him too, but my self-indulgent content is in Fue/Oc content. If not with an OC, then... hmm... Hmm... Maybe... uhh.... Fragil? She's a hard worker and cares about the people around her, but also has a gentle side to her.

17. What’s a ship for this character you don’t hate but it’s not your favorite that you’re fine with?

I once saw someone in passing shipping him with Charlotte? So, perhaps that one? I'm indifferent towards it, so I can't say that I hate it, but it's not my favourite. And I'm fine with it.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

I adore his relationship with Mereo. I think that these two have such admiration and respect for one and another, even if Mereo doesn't say it out loud. She's a woman of action, and struggles to give verbal affirmations, but the things that she does say, like "there are people who'd never let me forget it if I was defeated", or along those lines, show that she is thinking about her family, her little brothers and the CLK. She feels that she needs to protect them, but also that she needs to drive them to be strong enough to fend for themselves, if all hell breaks loose. And Fuegoleon, who is very verbal about his admiration for his aneue, clearly adores her. He looks up to her. And to him, Mereo will always be the brilliant older sister, who seems to understand what to do intuitively, whereas he has had to study for it. I just love these two. They have such amazing dynamic, and they fuel each other up, despite the bickering. And the bickering is there, because... they're siblings, and only 2 years apart. Of course they bicker.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn’t matter?

Hmm... I think that him and Randal could actually be really good friends. As in, sure, they've worked together for many years, and judging from the way they interact, I think it'd be safe to say that they are on some level of friendship. But I also think that one of @/cradestoryteller 's fics (if my memory serves me correctly) in her series "100 ways to say 'I love you'", I saw some of that friendship and it really made sense to me. I chose to take the "I love you" as a platonic one, because I believe that it's okay to A. say "I love you" platonically to one's friends (at least in English, because different languages have different connotations when it comes to the word 'love') and B. it's always okay to show that you care about your friends. They're both calm, reasonable and responsible gentlemen, who care for others, so I think that they have a lot in common. They also take time to asses a situation without charging head on. But I feel like Randal might make more jokes. That's not to say that he would be making too many, but relatively more than Fue. So, there'd be a kind of a difference as well. So, I think that Randal is a high contender as Fue's best friend.

This took me, like, an hour and a hslf to type.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

On surface level he's really cute and silly. Then you realize he's perverse and swears like a sailor. Then you learn he's a loyal friend, good at emotional support, and will do anything for the people he loves.

He's also pretty versatile. He can be a beautiful princess, a batman-esque vigilante, an eccentric mad scientist, a whitetrash redneck, a talented opera singer, a skilled musician, etc. He can do anything!! (Except sew and cook apparently XD)

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

How he broke the cycle of abuse that's been going on for generations in his family. Also, despite arguably having the worst home life, he never let himself become villian-like like some other characters in this series.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

His tendency to be ignored by the writers. From being 'permanently' killed off to being reduced to a background character for a few seasons to just kinda being forgotten about halfway through some episodes.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Sanrio, any animated run. I just think it'd be funny if this little orange nugget was running around the hello kitty universe being his usual R-rated self and every line of dialogue slipping past the censors.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Promotion Man by Merzbow. Same reason as All Star, despite the pain of existence he stays silly!! But in a much more noisy and industrial kinda way. Also I think Kenny would listen to harsh noise. (Tumblr wont let me link it :( )

In fan art he's often smiling when no one else is. Not in a way that feels like his happiness comes at the expense of others, but moreso he just has a different mindset. Or perhaps he's just high among his sober friends; which, given how he acts in canon sometimes, might be possible.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

When fans portray him as a casual sexual predator and it gets played off as just him being a flirt. The second half of that is the important part.

That's a big fat NOPE lol. He's messy as hell, cant cook, and, with his luck, he'd probably die every other week. Sorry, but there's no way no how it would ever happen.

Probably, yeah. Kenny gets along with pretty much everyone and I get along with most people too. I see no reason why we couldn't be friends.

-Kammy/Kentam. The two poorest people in town, match each other's energy and craving for physical affection, are fiercely loyal to each other.

-Stenny. Sooo much angst and hurt/comfort.

Tbh never been extremely fond of that trope where his partner acts like they dislike him. But whatever, it just isnt my cup of tea.

three headcanons you never told anyone.

uuffff, I feel like at this point, I've told everyone all about all my headcanons lmao.

I feel like he doesn't believe in any concept of fate/destiny or whatever the like. He believes outcomes are entirely up to ones own choices and decisions and that said outcomes can always change based on those choices and decisions and thus, that nothing's set in stone. That's one of the main reasons why he's such a driven and determined character. He still believes that if you try and work hard enough, things'll turn out the way you want them to.

That basement attack actually pretty much killed him, at least for a short amount of time. Cut content pretty much confirmed that it left him with maaaaassive brain trauma. But given how fucked up time in that place was and how obsessed it became with him, it wouldn't let him go quite literally. Deep down, he knows that he did, but that would mean admitting that in a way, he lost his fight and didn't quite make it out, and he just won't/can't do that. He's just stuck in a weird limbo where he's pretty much a paradoxical dead man walking, perfectly alive and breathing and talking when he really shouldn't be.

He knew that not everyone inside the building was evil/paranormal and that some were 'regular' innocent 1940s patients completely unaware of the time/space rift in that place. He still set fire to the building just so he could escape it/the cult/the loop. He kept trying to convince himself that in his timeline, all of them had already been long since dead anyway, that it was all a paradox so it and they couldn't be/weren't/aren't real people caught in the crossfire, but he still has nightmares about that night in particular, and how truly bonechilling and horrifying those screams had been compared to the paranormal ones he'd been taunted with during the inbetween time. What makes it messier is that he really can't tell if he killed any of them, since the fire itself created a paradox that corrected itself. When he got back to his timeline it was the one where he went inside the building in 2003 aka where it was still standing and not burned down, so how could anyone have died in a fire that was never set? But the problem will always be that he did set that fire to get out. And he did watch it burn to the ground. And after everything he's seen and been through, he isn't much of a sceptic anymore, can't rule out anything anymore, even the possibility of parallel timelines/worlds. And in one of those, he did burn people alive, and it's just another forever dilemma he's struggling with and that's putting more knots in his brain that he honestly can't quite deal with.

his mom. He just straight up adored this woman and I've written countless headcanons about that. It's the one woman/love he would never ever hide or play down or make fun of. It's just honestly very sweet.

sasha. he was bad for her and always knew it, could be a dick with her at times too, but he had such a soft spot for her

people who aren't het cis men / women in general. period. and not just for hedonistic reasons. Given his character, his job, and the things that happened, he just generally doesn't mash well with most het cis men. he always expects the worst of them because of the way he himself acts and thinks and the way he's seen others like him act and think. he just has a deep appreciation and respect for women in general, vibes with them much better and quite frankly, just loves the ever loving shit out of them.

two things your character regrets.

1. locking the door. deep down, he knows that it wouldn't really have mattered. He said it himself, they were doomed the minute they set foot in the building. But still, T.C. asking him why he locked that door and everyone telling him that they just want to go home haunts him even years later. He picked the building. He knew its violent history, knew that it was built like a prison. And he was the one who kept provoking it even when his team got uncomfortable. Despite everything he knows, he still blames himself for the fact that none of the people he locked inside that building made it out alive. Worse still, that even the man he asked to physically lock that door killed himself over it, too.

2. Killing Trevor/getting people killed in general. Even though he's a survivor who'll do literally anything to survive, it still doesn't mean that he likes that one bit . He doesn't want innocent people to get hurt or worse, killed.

O 1. How I feel about this character:

Nah but he's pretty cool fr. Seems like an upstanding guy. Shame he got trapped in the card game show and not whatever sports manga he probably should have rightfully been in. I stand by my idea that honda is the protagonist of a totally different story that somehow got lost in yugioh instead

2. All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Alright so I'm gonna head this off by saying i do not think there is any universe, ever, where Honda has not at some point had a big goofy nerdy crush on Jonouchi Katsuya. Like. It might be ongoing tbh. Theres just no other explanation for their behavior im sorry the devotion levels here go beyond friendship as powerful as it is. So I am definitely a buddyshipping fan.

I also think he's cute with Ryou. I just happen to think former delinquent x polite british boy is such a funny dynamic especially considering the delinquent is actually the responsible and mature one. You just know honda wouldn't be normal about it though. Ryou would be inviting him over to discuss Honda's Monster World character arc and he'd be gripping the arms of his chairs and wildly thinking about how to respond like how do i say PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GOD LET ME TALK TO YOU but in a way that makes me seem cool and like. You know. Chill about it. And his solution would be saying "yeah you know what what? Why don't I bring Joey over too so you can get two done at once :)"

Also because I think it would be an interesting exercise in honda (local failure at school) having to spell "you are gor. gorejeus. goregeus?" over text in an attempt to flirt. Jonouchi is giving him advice like "i'm pretty sure theres an a in there maybe two"

I um. Don't really have one. I do think that both Jonouchi and Ryou are pretty close to him even when not in a romantic relationship but that feels like cheating to say those two again. Him and Duke were kinda funny in the anime tho

4. My unpopular opinion about this character:

He is not the token straight he is not homophobic and he wants what is best for his friends!!! Even if he doesn't understand it!!! And yeah he probably has some regressive social ideas and is pretty closed off... because he was a delinquent on the streets since middle school that would get beaten up if he showed any vulnerability at all! Jonouchi used bluffing and bravado to make himself look bigger to survive, Honda just closed himself off completely. Of course he's gonna be a little repressed. Duh.

5. What I wished happened with this character in canon:

I want to see more of his past with Jonouchi and I wanted to see him making more new friends!!! I wholeheartedly support the Honda friend initiative!!! Go forth young man and diplomaticize!!
