requests still open? insomniac anon is back
re fluff hcs with a reader who's on a trip? family, work, any reason; just some temporary absence/reunion scenarios
L. KENNEDY, C. REDFIELD, C. OLIVEIRA X READER (SEPARATE)
Tumblr media
ೃ⁀➷ sypnosis; absence/reunion hc’s
ೃ⁀➷ warnings; none!
ೃ⁀➷ author’s note; bought ps plus iusy to play ff7 and ff15 again ermmmmm, this is mostly random bs i thought of on the spot😁, also i always think of re5-re6 chris and og re4 leon when writing these but its up to u😘😘, no proofread yikes
Tumblr media
C. OLIVEIRA
you’d think he was grieving your loss by the way he was acting
doesn’t necessarily let it show too much into his daily life (for exp. work) but you can still notice he’s not as up beat as he usually is
sends you random photos of the things he gets up to whilst your gone, and half the time they’re things that make you regret even leaving him alone - such as something he’d made in the oven all over the floor as he dropped it by accident, captioned with a single ‘oops’
but you get some heartwarming videos here and there amidst all the chaos and random bullshit. like him fixing the piece of jewellery you’d complained about breaking for so long, or something as simple as him trying to learn to cook your favourite dish to welcome you back
sends you photos of him brushing his teeth every morning. send one back.
yet once you’re back? it’s as if nothing ever happened. INSISTS on being the one to pick you up, no ifs or buts
absolute bone crushing hug, spins you around whilst he’s at it before attacking your face with kisses. he’s missed you, okay?
L. KENNEDY
he tries to ignore your absence as much as possible
tries to keep his hands and mind busy at all times, simply to not think about you not being with him
sends a message daily, asking how you are and if everything’s alright. he’d prefer to call you, but he refrains from doing so as he doesn’t want to disturb you in any way ;(
but whenever you call, you best believe he answers literally on the first ring (if he’s not at work, yet even if he is he manages to somehow answer the phone) and has a small smile on his face basically the whole time you’re speaking with him
tends to start taking less care of himself once you’re gone due to him overworking himself to keep his mind off things. it’s a bad habit, he knows, and he’s guaranteed to have a lecture from you once you’re back
but he doesn’t mind like at all - subconsciously does it on purpose so you dote on him once you’re back but you didn’t hear that from me
long ass hug once you’re back, face buried in your neck as he simply takes in the scent of your perfume once more - until you comment on his eyebags and the lecture begins
a small smirk tugged on his face and a ‘what, worry that much ‘bout me?’
C. REDFIELD
workaholic at heart. so he works even more to make up for your absence
calls you twice a day without fail - once in the morning, once at night just to simply hear your voice and ask you about what you’ve been up to
won’t ever admit it, yet going to bed without you now feels strange. sure, he might sleep flat on his back half the time and be out cold most of the time when you’re just getting into bed, but he can’t help but miss the thought and feeling of you throwing your leg over his hips and snuggling against his bicep. he’s a simple man
hates when you leave because your cooking’s gone. there is genuinely nothing this man loves more than a meal home cooked by you, and having that stripped away from him is, to him, worse than having to deal with all the BOWs and shit at work
claire’s always asking him when you’re back for 2 reasons; 1, she genuinely wants to know to see you again and 2, she loves reminding chris of the fact you’re gone and winding him up about it. sibling love
will literally decide himself that he’s picking you up. whether that be the airport or a whole different city, he’s coming for you himself. you get no say in it
you come running at him and throw yourself against his chest, which prompts him to wrap his arms around you with a small grin on his face

Wesker surviving RE5. Taking a good while to recover. When he final tracks Chris many years later he sees a young woman with Chris. Obviously not Chris' wife.
Chris got a daughter. And Wesker knows how to truely break him now.
Poor girl, she gets hit on by a super hot dude not knowing that he is her dads biggest enemy
listen... this would go fucking crazy... 18+
cw; afab!reader, creep!wesker, reader is 21-ish and wesker is... *gulps*... 61, dad!chris isn't the best dad, i'm projecting big time with this one guys sorry, takes place circa re8, reader is in college, no use of y/n, chris is the kind of alcoholic dad that you don't want your boyfriend to meet because you are, in fact, embarrassed of him, wesker drives a lincoln mkz zephyr.
you look like your dad but prettier. softer, sweeter features than your father's own. your eyes are paralyzingly innocent, and he can't help himself when he lays eyes on you. you're younger than albert by a concerning amount of years, but thanks to your dad's unintentional neglect during your childhood, you've got some issues.
your father never told you about wesker- or anything relating to his line of work. how foolish of chris to not take such precautions with his daughter. you never bothered to ask, either, as you felt some sort of resentment towards your dad in your teenage years. everything he did pissed you off, especially when he was trying to bond. so of course you decided to date someone just as old, if not older than your dad, just to piss him off in return.
that's when you stumbled across wesker. he was handsome for his age, though he looks much younger and you're not sure why. the sunglasses thing confused you, though he'd told you once when you had first started talking that he has light-sensitive eyes. you, being so trusting of this nice, older man who made you feel wanted, believed him and every little thing he ever told you. he'd make you feel so warm inside, and it didn't take long for you to fall for him.
he'd made a show of falling for you, too, to keep you under his thumb. you were the type to flee at the first sign of abandonment; he couldn't have that.
your dad was shocked when you told him you'd found a boyfriend. thanks to your strained relationship, you'd hardly talked to him after leaving for college, which he blamed himself for. it had only worsened between the two of you after your mother left.
and now, at dinner, your dad thinks it's the greatest idea in the world talk about your beloved.
"so," your father starts as he saws through thick-cut steak with a serrated knife, cutting you off a piece, "this boyfriend of yours, when am i meeting him?"
"you want to meet my boyfriend?" you cock an eyebrow at your father, though he doesn't meet your gaze. his own is fixed to the bit of steak he's setting on your plate beside some vegetables.
"well, yeah. must be pretty serious if you told me about him." chris finally looks at you, setting his silverware down. you swallow.
"i don't know, dad."
"what, are you embarrassed of me?"
"i didn't say that, don't put words in my mouth." you stuff a piece of sauteed cauliflower in your mouth as chris sighs inwardly. for the next ten minutes, there's no sound except silverware clinking against your plates and your father's jaw popping here and there.
neither of you can take much more of the awkward silence.
chris clears his throat and leans back in his chair, "listen, i just want to make sure you're dating a good guy, okay?"
"yeah, sure." the bitterness and slight annoyance in your voice is hard to hide. you don't bother.
"is that a crime? wanting to look out for my kid?" he crosses his arms over his chest, getting a little defensive.
"don't you think it's a little late to play dad of the year? i'm not a child, i don't need you to look out for me."
"i know you're not a child-"
"then just stop." you're standing up from your chair, "stop trying to be a bigger part of my life. stop acting like you care. stop."
"fine, you want to be an ungrateful brat?" your dad stands up too, "then get out. take your shit and leave, or shut the hell up."
you don't really have anywhere else to go, so you slink back into your chair and reluctantly finish your food. with all the money your dad gets from his job, he's paying your tuition.
your dad downs the whiskey in his glass and gathers his dishes, leaving you to sit in silence at the dinner table.
-
your father lets the boyfriend thing go until you bring it up to him again, this time on your own.
when you bring it up to albert, he's delighted.
"i'd be honored," he tells you as he leans down to kiss your cheek, he's confident about this, which puts you at ease because you know your father isn't going to take this very well.
-
you're dressed your best, as is albert, who's got his hand on your lower back protectively. he can sense your nerves- uroboros didn't completely burn out of his system- as if they were his own, and he kisses your head as you unlock the front door. based on the black jeep in the driveway, beside albert's zephyr, your father is home. you open the door, and in a flash, you're pushed out of the way.
you didn't expect your father to have a loaded gun aimed at your boyfriend so quickly, if at all. a deep laugh sounds from albert.
"oh, chris..."

i'll never smile again, until i smile at you
{pre re5! Jill Valentine x f! reader} + {platonic! Chris Redfield x f!reader}
TW: death, depression, mild violence
___________________________________________________________
“I don’t believe you” You said, shaking your head as your grip began to falter from the teapot within your grasp. The two men stayed silent, one of them, who you knew quite well, continued to stare at you with hurt, unable to give you a response in return to your disbelief. Shaking your head once more, “Chris what kind of sick joke is this?” You scoffed quickly, turning your back towards the two men in an attempt to hold yourself together. Any moment now, Jill would walk through that door, like she always did. You knew that because she promised you, every mission she went on, she always promised.
“I’m sorry” His deep voice echoed through your ears. As much as you’ve joked together in the past. Chris couldn’t find it himself to even crack a single one in this circumstance. You stayed silent, unable to even believe the news he just came to give you. Just a few weeks ago, you, him, and Jill were having drinks. Celebrating a joyful occasion, what were you celebrating? You couldn’t even think about the celebration that occurred that week after hearing the news your best friend just came to tell you. “What…?” you quietly asked, Chris was about to apologize once more until you quickly cut him off.
“You’re sorry? Is that what I heard? For fucks sake, YOU were with her!” You snapped, dropping the teapot from your clutch, only able to hear it clang on the wooden floor. Piers, the man with Chris who just couldn’t stay quiet. “Captain Redfield did the best he could, I understand what you're feeling but please don’t take it out on him” He said, attempting to lighten Chris’s burden in any way he could. They both watched you as you calmly picked up the teapot, seeing yourself in its shiny reflection, you stared at it for some time. You were seething. Seething with so much emotion you yourself couldn’t pinpoint what to feel at this exact time. You lost her, Jill. That's right, it was all coming together now. You were celebrating their small lead in finding Wesker, that's why you all were celebrating. That fact alone causes you to throw the teapot right towards Pier’s head.
Although the throw was fast enough for Chris to step in and catch it himself. Pier’s eyes widened, as he turned his head towards his captain, who shook his head and signaled him to leave the two of you alone. Piers almost declined the request, until he saw the way you held yourself, shakily as if you could fall at any moment. Understanding that you were no longer a threat to the two of them, he nodded his head and walked out of your kitchen.
Chris closed his eyes as he maintained his frame, not allowing himself to falter in any way in front of you as he made a promise to Jill to be there for you. The fight with Wesker kept playing in his head. Jill tackling Wesker for his sake, he squinted his eyes at the thought of remembering it all. “Chris, do you remember that day we went out for drinks?” Your weak tone brought him out of his thoughts.
Turning his gaze towards you, as you were propped by the counter with your gaze still to the floor.  “I do remember” He responded, “We had finally found Wesker’s location” He smiled softly, remembering how rowdy the three of you were that day. So rowdy, you and Chris were plastered enough for Jill to draw on your  faces while you both were knocked out. You barely managed a smile, but the little warmth you felt erupted in your chest from remembering that day. Tears streamed through your eyes, sliding your back down the kitchen counter, you held your face as you cried into the palms of your hands. Chris crouched next to you as he patted you back. He knew you weren’t mad at him, or would blame him. The three of you knew one another well enough to know what this field entailed, yet knowing Jill was the one to go before the two of you was too much to bear. The pain still remained no matter who you wanted to point fingers at.
“I proposed to her” you revealed, Chris’s eyes widened at the information as he stared at you in shock. “That day when we went out for drinks actually” You smiled sadly, remembering the way Jill rejected the thought as she believed you were too drunk to function. “I was planning on proposing someday, seeing her shine with pride that day, I couldn’t bear it. In my head, sober or not, I wanted to marry her” You sniffled, tears threatening to spill again.
“But she said no. '' Chris finished your sentence already, knowing what could’ve been going through Jill’s head at the time. It also tugged at his heart strings, knowing why. You nodded your head in confirmation “The way she looked at you, believe me, I saw it the first day we met in that dusty office back in raccoon city. She wanted to be yours someday too” He said with a soft smile, remembering how Jill was enamored by your presence the first time you two met. He felt like your guy's biggest wingman back then. In yours and Jill’s eyes, he was still your biggest wingman. “Thanks for saying that” the smile on your face began to fade, “I wish I could’ve heard it from her” You teared up again, this time Chris embraced you into a hug. His buff arms engulfed you in a warm hug, to which you knew was coming from his heart as he faltered in communication with the amount of missions he’s been on, turning him colder.
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you enough how much I wished it was me. “ Chris said, you shook your head. “Don’t do that Chris” You said, pushing his hug enough for you to look into his eyes. “Don’t do that to yourself, Jill just did exactly what she knew you’d do for me or her.” You said, engulfing him into a hug, “You are equally important to us, as we are to you.” He hugged you back, almost squeezing you. Although you knew he was going through it just as much as you were. Silence filled the room as you two platonically embraced eachother.
“Please tell that guy I’m sorry” You sighed, as you remembered how you threw a teapot at Pier’s head. He shook his head, “Don’t worry about it, he understands” Chris reassured as you sniffled and nodded.

Hello, I just read your theories about Wesker and Chris in RE9, very interesting! I'd love to see more interactions between them and exploring how obsessed they are with eachother.
I wanted to ask if you have any wishes regarding the probably soon coming RE5 Remake? I'd love if they put more homoerotic tension between them, I am just fascinated by their relationship XD from subordinate who trusted his captain and looked up to him and captain who called him his best man and saying that he's proud of him to archnemesis
Hello, thank you for the question and for taking the time for my theories!
I expect the re5 remake to have reimagined locations, normal lvl design. I like the levels in re5, but often they are not very convenient or aesthetic, I'm sure that in the remake it will be fixed and make a good map of the area, as they did in re4r, where they fixed all the shortcomings of the locations. And...
From my personal wishes for the remake of re5 I would emphasize Wesker's emotions. The thing is that in re5 he has a very large set of various funny emotions, which are very cool. But in re4r he doesn't look like an emotional person, his face doesn't look like something that can compete with the original. I'd really like to see Wesker's new face adapted to emote. I don't like the idea of a complete reimagining of the character where he loses all the silly and fun things that make him himself.
I'd also like to see the volcano battle completely changed, or removed altogether. I never liked it, even though that battle is a lot of fun. But the undressed Wesker is too much, that scene made me question more than laugh. For example, why did he take his clothes off? Did he do it during the fall? It's a silly moment.
I also wish they had conveyed the atmosphere of the grueling African heat, showed that the enemy is not the only thing that threatens the lives of the heroes. I also miss the puzzles in this part, maybe adding more puzzles would be cool. After all the remakes, the developers have gained enough experience to make a decent reimagining of this game. Taking all the good things that were in re5 and multiplying it, as well as getting rid of the controversial moments and faulty decisions.
I know the game has issues with racism, there have been a lot of scandals with that. I'm sure they'll get rid of that too by fixing the controversial stuff. For example, in re4r they took away Luis' lewd joke, deepening his character and making his personality much more interesting.
I appreciate the modes in re5, Mercenaries is my love. I would love to see the updated characters in this mode. Speaking of which, I'd like to see the ability to fight in close quarters added to the game like in re6, getting rid of the annoying qte. That way we'd get Chris, who does a lot of damage up close, and Wesker, who is able to quickly shorten his distance and move around the entire location in a few seconds. Oh yeah, I already want to play as them.
About the relationship… I really wish they paid attention to the relationship between Chrisker, because they have a whole 10 years of history, betrayals and thwarted plans behind them. In re5 their relationship doesn't get the attention it deserves, so I hope for a remake. We as players have to believe in Wesker's hatred if it's present. Or is it now a deep interest in Chris as the perfect person? Lots of options. I'm not sure if the developers will make their relationship more homoerotic, since RE has almost no focus on romantic relationships…
Thanks for reading all the way to the end! Honestly, no matter how the re5 remake comes out, I'll love it any way I can, as it's my all time favorite RE game. We'll definitely get something high level, as Capcom will never make the mistake of re3r again.

just thinking about a re5make
just the title. i'm on an re4r binge again (when am I not) and I'm just so excited to go back to Kijuju.
re4remake is easily my favorite game in the series and even as someone who has yet to finish the original, i still see and listen to the accounts of others who did - and their comparisons between the two mean a lot and have me excited for what's in store for re5. i think i'm so excited because unlike og re4, i have beaten re5 countless times and im just - ahhhhhhhh. so excited. (if i come across a sheva in og re4 mod watch me beat it immediately lol)
was watching a playthrough of re4make and person playing was complimenting it while also going through her favorites between og and remake. she was commenting on the krauser boss fight, and then the saddler one. and maybe it's literally just how goopy and gross saddler is (and that's what reminded me of excella), but i am so excited to see excella's boss fight. just, in that moment, i was like "oh shit. there is a chance that we're gonna get an updated re5 and we're gonna see botox buddy #2 in all her remake glory." and that's so fucking cool.
i have so many (constructive, i hope) criticisms of re5 - i played the xbox 360 version originally a year ago, and then this summer came back to it, saw re5 on sale, and caved. Since this summer i've only been playing the PC version - and i play it with a lot of mods.
my main complaint (and also source of excitement) is the absolutely disgusting horrible godforsaken green filter, or the idea of a *lack* of it. re4make is so fucking pretty. i am so excited to see that treatment given to other resi games. and i want more from the environment too. there's literally so much opportunityyyyyyy capcom pleaseeeee.
you change location so much in re5. in particular, im a huge fan of the marshlands and it's essentially the stone retrieval thingy in chapter 4(?) of re4make. just - imagine the marshlands with more color?? more foliage?? just, more?? agh. and there's the beautiful scene with the sun rising behind sheva as she and chris ride around on the boat? i need that whole section with the sun rising. do you know how pretty that would be? and then when you get all the slates and open the door, the sun can come up more and whatnot idc. just, let me ride the boat around the pretty marsh. let there be more animals just chilling about (not just the alligators/crocodiles/i can't tell the difference/i always forget/i'm sorry). let me kill enemies with a beautiful sunrise behind me pleaseeeee. i know resident evil is a "gross" series with lots of gunk and shit, but there are so many instances of the games being absolutely gorgeous. the train in re0? queen zenobia? the rcpd literally being built on top of an old museum? let re5 be pretty, capcom. pleaseeeeeee
i'm also just excited for the bossfights overall. everything in re5 is huge and in a potential re5make, there's such an opportunity to make it feel just MORE. irving? excella? jill's bossfight in general??????? literally there is so much potential here. i'm so excited for a jill fight. make the environment more. the voicelines when chris calls out for her. when you play as sheva and AI Chris will stand in front of Jill so you don't shoot her??? i could cry.
also capcom make me like the mkono boss fight please. when i grab the flamethrower, make it do something :)
also, all of the ruins in the game just have so much promise. i haven't played tomb raider in a hot minute, but i remember that shit being fire. give it the tomb raider treatment or something idk.
another thing that i'm so so desperate for is dialogue. i NEED more conversation between Sheva and Chris. They're literally at the hip the entire game, so let them talk. I want to know more about Sheva. I want Chris to slowly open up about Jill, Raccoon City, and the Spencer Mansion. Let that man talk a bit about Wesker - Sheva is walking into hell with him, she deserves to know what's up. (and please bring karen dyer back pleaseeeeeee). from my understanding, sheva was really only supposed to be a liaison between the different BSAA locations. she's essentially there as a translator and guide for chris - yes, she can take care of herself and kick ass, but she wasn't supposed to have to. and then shit hit the fan. so let them talkkkkk about it. let her open up about her dead parents and shit. let chris open up about his dead parents. orphan bond and shit idk
i'm not sure how co-op is gonna work with potential re5 or re6 remakes, but I personally love being able to play with other people. either way, a girl can dream.
i'm sure there's more i could think of but this is what came up off the top of my head. i have no clue if we'll get an re5make (it seems like it would make sense that it comes next after 2,3, and 4 getting a remake). i'm not like keeping my hopes super high or anything but i do want my thoughts out into the universe because i think it would be cool to look back at what i was thinking before re5make was promised/not promised/delivered, etc.

I'm not sure if you've answered this question before but when did you realize that you liked Leon a little more than the rest?Let me explain, before the remakes my goat was Chris.BUT AFTER RE2r???????I put him on the back of my mind for Leon and by the time I realized I didn't even think about Chris as much as I thought about Leon lol
Leon was the character my later father really loved.
Before RE4 entered in our homes, I've never had any dialogue with my father. I ever only saw him as this protector and provider.
You could never tell us "No" without my father jumping in and shield us from dangers that were never there. But, dialogue? Never.
He was... My father. And just that.
Until he started playing Resident Evil 4, and me (as a HUGE game lover) would start to play with him. Through our long playing hours, with me counting the minutes to quit school to go home to play with him, we bounded like never before.
Leon made my father quit smoking when he saw Leon refuse it. My father laughed, it was our 50x time playing that game from the start and watching the same cutscene (my father NEVER skipped any cutscene).
My father bought me my Degeneration DVD. We watched it together, and played Darkside Chronicles Together, too.
But a few years later, my father died. Re5 was just announced, but no Leon, so my father didnt bothered with it lol
We were just being happy fanboying over Leon and enjoying our walkthroughs...
And then he died.
I think Leon is more than just a character for me. He is a symbol. Leon gave me a friend... He gave me a dad. I've always had a father, but Leon gave me a Dad. During his last years with us, he became the dad he always dreamed to be.
And Leon broke that ice...
Up to this day, I can not hear the ending credit song Sorrow without crying. It hurts. Physically...
But I cry with a smile, too.
Leon is... Leon is a memory, Leon is a life changer, Leon is the character who gave me a dad for a few years. Leon is...
Leon being Leon made a father and a daughter bound.
I cant even begin to tell you how Leon is not just a "character" to me. He is beyond that. It is so strong, my entire family actually knows Leon...
My cousins, uncle, grandmother, mother, sister... We all look at each other with tearful heartfelt eyes everytime some news about the franchise flashes through our computer screen that mentions Leon...
If Leon appears in RE9... Boy he will break my entire family into a crying mess (even though I will be the only one to actually play it lol) we all used to reunite during christmas to play that freaking game in my granny's huge TV on her second floor living room after dinner....
Leon is almost... A family member at this point. He remind us all of great times we had with a great man that is no longer with us.

Hi! Not sure if you already read it before, there's an interview of Kenichi Iwao, old writer and designer for RE1. He mentioned about his idea of Wesker as a person which I thought pretty interesting. I'm not keen posting on my personal acc, I hope I don't bother you https://www.crimson-head.com/interviews/kenichi-iwao
Q: What is the full story of Wesker including his ultimate goal and duties in the mansion as researcher and chief security officer?
KI: I imagined that he was in a special forces setting. Unmarried with no siblings, but was born into an ordinary American middle-class family. However, he was already too formed and believed the world to be worthless. He was a genius with scant feelings. He enjoyed ordinary family vacations, even displayed excellent grades in sport, but his heart was always cold and he was acting to blend himself into society. He was a clear-headed but tragic individual lacking human emotions. The only way he could live was to self-affirm his intense elitism.
Wesker was using the giant organization Umbrella and had his own separate ambition to create a second humanity of his own design. For that reason he believed that the Tyrant, which produces the Tyrant Virus, would also be useful as a resource to threaten Umbrella. Umbrella's aim was to sell the Tyrant to every country as a weapon and take advantage of every nation's weakness and substantially control them, but as they advanced that plan, Wesker aimed for another objective... To filter humanity using the Tyrant... he was scheming mass extinction and forced evolution. Ultimately the Tyrant was going to gain the ability to manipulate the virus and design living things. It was a “Creator.”
So to Iwao's vision in early days, Wesker has been always a disturbing nutjob from the start, even before his new background "Wesker children" came to existence in RE5. Even RE1 novel written by SD Perry, Wesker is described as someone who brings a something-is-not-right kind of feeling towards anyone with a decent sense of intuition, mainly Chris and Jill, even though he acts "normal" outside. And he's also enamoured with tyrant, your comic is spot on when you focus on Wesker's obsession with tyrant haha
Hello there! First of all thank you so much for this ask. And apologize for taking so long so answer you anon ;×;
And you could never bother me anon! It's all okay, I really don't mind getting asks (as my bio says, asks open) and if you all like to be anons instead of using your mains to ask that's all okay too ❤️
Tumblr media
This was very interesting. Albert Wesker from back then RE1 to know changed a lot I feel. He didn't feel particular special back then in re1. He was just a guy that was stupid enougg to get killed by his creation. Well he didn't make T-002 personally I think.
All the added backstory for him is cool don’t get me wrong. The whole bit about him being a Wesker child , how much of a bastard Spencer was. He got a living sister and a son too. Shame we never got too see any of them on screen together ;×;
With my wesker x tyrant reader comic I wanted to show how of an obsession he has with them. I played the og RE1 and he really gave me the vibe that he *really* cares for it. And the way he died was so pathetic...like man I would feel bad for him if the translation and voice acting weren't so bad.
The outwordly normal guy but reqlly fucked up on the inside is really cool to me. They were all surpised about his betray and pissed. So he wasn’t a bad captain to his team. If only the game wasn’t so bad at showing this. I am pretty sure most people understood he was the bad guy, the way he dressed and acted were so sus. How I wish the game tried to hide it harder that Wesker was the main bad guy ;×;
Anyways, I do think that given the chance he would create a new tyrant that listens to himm 100%. Worst case and it goes berserk he killd it and restarts again. The tyrant reader in the comic got lucky in a way. Wesker thought it was a failure at first glance. Turns out the tyrant reader had fallen inlove with him

loser Wesker buys Evil Resident ™ so he can play the boss fights against you
(I bought resident evil 5 only to fight Wesker)
He starts giggling and kicking his legs when you attack him or let out a voice line
I felt that. Although my RE5 was a generous gift from an acquaintance of mine.
He lets the main character get hurt by you on purpose, foaming at the mouth when you grab him and chuckle with malicious intent. Of course he sees this as quality time with you given that there aren't any other cut scenes or moments in the game where you're not attempting to kill him with unethical schemes. If you had an assistant to your foils who was trying to get closer to you, he'd be so serious on trying to kill them. The joy of seeing you has nearly drained from his face as he watches this irrelevant NPC get all close and personal when it should be HIM! If you don't have a real relationship with your cohort, he's so glad, relieved but it doesn't show on his face.
He giggles darkly when they die, chuckling as he watches the cut scene before smiling as you appear on the screen again.
Now, for a self-aware reader.
You wake up to the dull grays of the platform you're standing on, the firm steel being acute against your heels as you stare down the corridor, watching as the main duo of Evil Resident level their pistols at you as you smile. You've been here before, seen them before, and are all too familiar with the phrase thrown in your direction. No matter, is what you would've said, but how many times has it been now? Was this a time loop? Some sort of cruel joke played upon you as punishment?
"This is getting old, aren't you tired of playing the same game?", you say with an eye roll, garnishing your weapon at Wesker from behind his screen.
You hear his voice as clear as day, somewhere you can't see or feel, but you know it to be his. The player, Wesker as he's been called by his friends or whomever else is observing your life come to its halt. He seems to be quite taken with you, or so you've observed from how he openly praises and makes quite the interesting commentary. The man on the other side laughs, at first you found it to be annoying, but you suppose you like the way that it sounds.
"So you've come all this way to see me again... miss me much?", the expression he makes is one that you can feel, even if you can't see him yet.
The A.I for his partner doesn't seem to care for the interaction, as the scene fades you know the drill. She yells something like "Come on partner!" whenever you seize him by the throat, the vessel grunts but the host moans.
"God they're so hot...", he mutters beneath his tongue like you won't be able to hear it.
As you throw him, he lets his character lay prone on the floor as you saunter over, taking your time with this 'session' as he prefers. You lift your leg, ready to bring it down until his partner does good to shoot you in the back. With the gun she carries, you've sustained a good bit of damage, growling as you shift your focus onto her. He's disappointed that you won't step on him, but knows that he'll be sent back to the next 'save point' if he lets his partner die.
"You just had to go and ruin our fun, didn't you?", and as you turn to look over your shoulder to meet his eyes as he runs to help catch a glimpse of those darling shades and blond locks.

Hii! I really want to start writing a fanfic about wesker/reader in the dbd world but I haven't played (just watched gameplays) of the RE games... Like, I know his character (but forgot about a lot of the main stuff of the games) and he is just so... alluring. He makes me want to write again.
Do you have any advice for writing something about him so as not to end up mischaracterizing him? Is there anything in particular that you, as a fan that knows about his lore and knows him, would like to read?
Answer if you want! thanks 🌟
hello! im actually so honored you came to me of all people 😭 thank you
it’s always good to know and remember the main aspects of that character, such as what they stand for, what their motives are, and how that affects them as a person. this doesn’t have to be applied in every fic you make, but knowing thre core aspects of a character is important for writing them as a whole
and get their personality down! it’s good to see how they act, their mannerisms, how they talk, how they dress, how they speak to people. these are all very important in writing as character as well.
i think in wesker’s case it’s good to remember these things:
- wesker is very egotistical. he thinks he is superior to everyone around him and believes himself to be a god compared to everybody else. it’s very important not to make this all that he is though. considering this is in the dbd-verse, i would implement it more subtly. even making him smirk as he chases a survivor can give off that confident attitude he has.
- wesker is a calm and collected man, though he at times can reveal his hatred for others around him. one thing about wesker a lot of people tend to exaggerate is his anger, mainly because of how he acts in re5. i do not think this is all wesker should be reduced to. he has been shown countless times to show how calm he can be in situations, even pushing down that anger/irritation at times. wesker is very capable of being an angry little bitch, but it shouldn’t be the core aspect of his character and be so exaggerated like some people make it out to be. if you ever want to write how he feels in a first/third person perspective then watching umbrella chronicles playthroughs is perfect as it is right in the perspective of wesker! this could help you more perceive what he thinks when in action
-don’t be afraid to observe how he acts in game as well! even if you don’t own any of the games or dbd, there’s plenty of videos of cutscenes with wesker in it. learning his mannerisms and how he speaks just through seeing what he does is also a good way to get to know the character more. he is far more than just being smart and an asshole.
-this is more of a small one but wesker does not have a british accent! it is trans-atlantic! if you don’t know what that accent sounds like, think of pretty much any disney movie made in the 1950’s-1970’s. a lot of them feature a very sing songy accent. the reason people misinterpret this is because it is supposed to sound halfway american and british. (if you need more examples feel free to watch drew gooden’s ‘insane how-to videos from the 50s’)
either way in the end you can write wesker however you want. it’s your way of interpreting the character and it’s in your right to do whatever you’d like. there’s tons of shit i’m tired of seeing writers do with wesker but as i said it is what makes you happy with writing that character. i’m terrible with giving any sort of advice but i do just ask that you have fun with it and don’t worry about what others might think. if it makes you happy, go for it

Hi, sorry to bother you but I wanted to ask if you think that Wesker is attracted to Rebecca (bc of easter egg, Wesker Mode in RE0)? I would like to enjoy posts about Wesker but that kinda keeps me from doing it since it would be extremely creepy if he actually got a thing for her since she's only 18.
Hi!!! It's no bother at all. This exact topic has haunted me for a long time, actually, so I'd love an excuse to ramble about it.
TL;DR: No, I don't think that Wesker is attracted to Rebecca. Take it with a grain of salt, have fun, and enjoy the sunglasses man to your hearts content.
---
Since Capcom nor the original RE2 team have ever come out with their exact intentions behind the Rebecca photo, we can only really speculate what they were trying to do there. Were they trying to hint that Wesker has some weird sexual obsession with Rebecca? Unlikely, IMO. Were they trying to sprinkle a little secret fan service into their game? YES, definitely!
It was pretty common for games of that era- especially Japanese games- to add some kind of fan service like that into their games, devs loved that shit. Still do. But because fan service has basically no reason behind it, they usually ended up adding it in really weird and random ways. In RE2, the only real place it would have made sense for the photo to be would have been the S.T.A.R.S office and, my guess is, since Chris's desk already had a lot of items connected to it, Wesker's desk just was the next logical conclusion for them. Re2make was just playing to nostalgia.
You also have to realize that if he really did have a thing for her, that probably would have come up at some point in literally any other way. Wesker mode in RE0 is explicitly just a fun little costume mode and an act of fan service in its own right. There isn't any changes to the story, cutscenes, or dialogue, only gameplay. As well, if he had a thing for her, you'd think it would have been considered important enough that OTHER games might have used it as a plot point. Like, re5, maybe? Perhaps they would have put her in Jill's role, or made Wesker come after her in some other way. Instead, she's just an unlockable companion for Chris, nothing more.
Anyway, sorry for such a long-winded answer to your question, but NO, I don't think Wesker is attracted to Rebecca. I think he is just a victim of unfortunate circumstances that have implicated him in having a thing for a girl literally 20 years his junior. Maybe I'm wrong, but as it stands I think you're safe to enjoy him as much as you damn well please, as long as you just don't think about it all too hard.

Resident Evil 5, and why ‘Man who punched a boulder that one time’ is not a personality
Since I’ve already talked about Resis 2, 3, and 4, it’s probably about time to tackle RE5, which may be relevant to the greater state of the franchise for two reasons. For one, after the success of the RE4 remake, RE5 may well be next up in that queue. And considering the franchise’s recent trajectory, with all that RE8, too, owes to the original RE4, it’s worth asking whether something much like RE5 (for better or worse) may well be what we have to look forward to in RE9.
Tumblr media
RE5 certainly sold well – to this day, it remains one of the best-selling titles in the franchise. Cynically though, I can’t help but wonder how much of that was simply the franchise coasting off the reputation of RE4 – a game is still cited as one of those titles-that-redefined-the-genre, whereas RE5 doesn’t have much legacy beyond being ‘the racist one’, or That Time Chris Redfield Punched a Boulder.
To give credit where it’s due, by reputation RE5 was a lot of fun to play with a partner (as it was intended), though it may be more notorious for how frustrating it was to play without one, depending on the infamously-awful partner AI as a stand in. Running away from your own AI partner as they try to waste the good healing items on you when you've only got a scratch is apparently a regular part of the single-player experience. I’m stuck saying ‘by reputation’ here because I haven’t actually played RE5 myself, and thus everything below should probably be taken with a pretty big grain of salt.
What I can tell you is that, experienced purely via let’s-plays and cutscene compilations, this is easily the most boring numbered entry in the whole RE franchise.
The biggest single problem here is its protagonist, Chris Redfield, who’s be reimagined for the new console generation as a huge, muscular slab of a man, and with all the personality of a sheet of cardboard, not-much-enhanced by such exciting dialogue as, "There's one thing I do know. I have a job to do, and I'm going to see it through."
Tumblr media
This is not a problem unique to Chris: Jill, in her few actual scenes, fares no better. ‘Dedicated para-military professional’, ‘designated good guy’ and ‘wants to save the world from bioweapons’ are perfectly good character traits. They should not be someone’s entire personality. This is a game that does that classic Winter Soldier trope where Jill comes back from the dead brainwashed by the villains, and somehow manages to make it boring. That shouldn’t be possible, but with Chris and Jill, RE5 has pulled it off.
Not all the heroes are as bland as Chris: Sheva gets to be friendly and upbeat and a dedicated para-military professional. But despite being the designated local, she’s entirely here to support Chris, with no real plot of her own or personal investment in his mission. I mean, she does have some history with this other local squad leader guy called Josh, and there’s a bit where he might be dead or something and you have to go find him, but then he’s fine, NBD. Josh himself is about as interesting as Chris, and I can’t help but suspect he’s in this game mostly as a response to criticism that the only other notable black character (Sheva) was a light-skinned woman with a British accent, after which no-one had the guts to actually do anything with Josh for fear of accidentally being offensive. He's just there.
As usual for RE, the villains are far more memorable than the heroes: Wesker is here to leave no scenery unchewed in his usual ridiculous anime-villain way, and Excella… well, you can’t say she doesn’t have personality. But their plan is the usual uninspired dreck: do wildly unethical experiments to bring about the apocalypse and/or next stage in human evolution, get revenge on Umbrella by doing the exact same shit Umbrella always did, blah blah blah. You’ve seen it all a hundred times before.
Tumblr media
Like so many RE titles, RE5 opens with a clear thesis statement: appropriately for a co-op shooter, this is a story about partnership. Chris’ reaction to meeting his new ‘partner’ Sheva is heavy with regret over the loss of his old partner, Jill. So, this is one of those Learning To Love Again kind of stories, where Chris has to learn to trust someone new, right? Or maybe Chris will have to make hard decisions between going after his brainwashed old partner, Jill, or backing up his new partner, Sheva? Nope! Maybe this theme comes through for some in the gameplay, but it sure doesn’t go anywhere in the narrative. Chris discovers Jill is alive and brainwashed all of one boss battle before Jill is rescued, immediately un-brainwashed, and promptly left behind again (because, like, she’s injured now and Chris has to trust his new partner, or something). So like so many RE titles, the opening thesis statement goes nowhere.
The other big problem with this game is the complete lack of atmosphere. You can (and RE frequently does) get away with bland heroes just fine if the setting has enough personality to carry the title, but RE5 doesn’t have that going either. There are probably writers out there who could tell a gripping horror story about a hardened para-military team hunting monsters in open spaces in bright sunlight, but they sure weren’t writing for RE5. The RE series at large is never more laughably absurd to me than when it’s trying to go full military shooter, and RE5 is doing that as hard as it can.
Tumblr media
I haven’t yet touched on the big controversies this game arrived with, because lord knows I’ve got no special insight into how to respectfully portray African people and an African location. But I think it's safe to say that mindless waves of zombie-uncontacted-tribesmen waving primitive shields and clubs probably isn't a great way to represent Africa's native population. It's not like you're going to meet any un-zombie native tribesmen. Zombie is apparently just their default state.
Still, even from my limited, white-Australian perspective, what stood out most was just how irrelevant the African setting is to the greater plot. RE’s 2 and 3 were set in a (named) American city, with an American pharmaceutical company as its villains. RE4 was set in a Spanish village, with a pseudo-medieval cult as its villains. RE5 may be set ‘somewhere in Africa’, but both its hero and its villain are white Americans. There may be some vague faff about Wesker researching a particular local virus, but for all plot purposes, Africa is little more than an unfortunate bystander, an indifferent battlefield for foreign white people. The only African people worth talking to have guns, and are already working for Chris’ organisation. Jill of RE3 had to watch her home city and her own friends and colleagues fall to the zombie plague, but no-one pays more than the briefest lip-service to the broken communities or human casualties in RE5 – after all, there are bigger things at stake than a few African villagers, Chris has a missing white friend to find! Besides, there’s always, like, wars and famines and shit breaking out in Africa, it’s just a scary, violent place in general. The zombies probably didn’t even make it any worse, amirite?
Yeah, fuck that nonsense. The entire African continent exists to this game as an exotic location where lots of people can die without the player having the feel too bad about it.
Tumblr media
Nothing in this game adds up to even the sum of its parts. The reveal of Jill’s face doesn’t produce a ‘omg, it’s Jill!’ reaction from the audience, it gets a ‘wait, who’s this generic blonde lady?’ The mind-control device Wesker uses on Jill is unrelated to any of the biological research he’s been using to turn other people into zombie slaves, it’s just a glowing mechanical thing that can be easily removed. There’s a document you can pick up which spells out a backstory for Sheva that is honestly more interesting than anything going on in the plot, but which fails to provide any insight into how an African-born native who was apparently educated in America has been walking around the whole game with a distinct British accent. The progenitor virus – the nominal excuse for the whole setting – is apparently nothing that Umbrella's researchers haven't already known about for decades.
Tumblr media
Is there anything to recommend this game for? Well, Sheva is so much my cup of tea that she’s been turning my head ever since I first ran into a picture of her in some random gaming magazine sometime back around 2008, and I cannot even properly resent this game’s love of showing me close-ups on her ass (it’s a very nice ass, okay?) But after being saddled with such terrible gaming AI, she’s stuck being one of the more widely hated characters in this franchise, and she has so little story of her own that enjoying Sheva doesn’t get me very far.
Oh, and there's Chris' "Heavy Metal" alternate costume. That's certainly something.
Tumblr media
RE5 is obviously reflective of the direction the franchise was already taking towards action and away from horror, but probably owes much more to Capcom chasing popular trends. Military co-op shooters set in sunny, arid locations populated by disposable brown people were in at the time, never mind whether that fit the Resident Evil brand. And though the game was a big sales success, it also led directly into the disaster that was RE6, which just about killed the franchise (though being forced to go back to the drawing board for RE7 inarguably did the series a world of good in the long run).
As successful as the remakes of 2, 3 and 4 have been, it’s hard to see the case for remaking RE5. Since 2009, the era of co-op mechanics being shoehorned into everything has come and (thankfully) gone – what was a controversial new direction for RE then isn’t likely to go down much better now. Though it’s now 14 years old, RE5 still looks like a modern game in a way that even the original RE4 doesn’t, and it can’t boast any of the first four games’ reputations as genre-defining classics. Is it possible to reimagine a title like RE5 enough to bring it more in-line with the other recent remakes without alienating those who remember the original fondly, campy co-op nonsense and all? Is it worth courting another round of ugly, racist controversy just to regurgitate a remake of a game so widely considered the franchise’s shark-jumping moment, and which was more of a sequel to the (so far un-remade) Code Veronica than any of the previous remakes? That’s ultimately up to Capcom to decide, but my money’s on a ‘no’.
Since the semi-reboot of RE7 and 8, Capcom has already returned to much purer survival horror, and then again transitioned into a more action-focused experience a la RE4, effectively speed-running their way through early franchise history again in just two games. Is a continued shift back towards action in some RE5-style follow-up inevitable?
Tumblr media
There are good reasons to wonder if that’s already the plan: Chris’ section at the end of RE8 was heavy on the military-shooter-isms, and there’s plenty more in the endgame and on the internet rumour mill to suggest he’s set to be the lead again for RE9. But speaking personally, ye gods do I hope not. Three more games since RE5 have not made Chris any more interesting to me as a character – not unless they’re willing to commit to the increasing hints he’s on the edge of going completely off the deep end into irredeemable villainy, and I doubt Capcom have the guts for that. The last thing this series needs is a new case of military-shooter-itis.
RE5 may not be the worst game in this franchise, but for my money, it’s easily the blandest. I can't speak for the whole fandom ‒ I can't even speak as someone who's actually played the original ‒ but I for one would prefer to see it left firmly in the past.

i’m sure the grown ass adults that have been groomed as adults by people who were, say, their bosses, older family members, or older partners feel SO overjoyed at you making a post telling them that they’re using the wrong word for their trauma. you care SO much about real life victims that’s why your post was raising awareness about real life grooming and not about a more than decade old video game
1.) Again, that’s not grooming, that’s manipulation. There’s a difference. Grooming happens when a power dynamic between an adult and a MINOR is clearly inappropriate. It doesn’t even have to be sexual in nature however and unfortunately most of the time it is. When an ADULT coerces another ADULT it’s just that. Coercion and manipulation. Because an adult has, generally, a grip on what is morally and socially right and wrong they can’t be ‘groomed’ or as the old awful saying goes ‘teach em while their young.’ Grooming is shaping a CHILD to the gratification of whatever adult is preying on them. Manipulation and Grooming are two different things.
2.) Ya know how I know? I was groomed at the age 5 by my uncle, who no one in the family but my mom believed could do such a thing, but then went on to do the literal same thing to his own minor daughters years later. And because of that and coming to terms what was done to me I was able to get out of a relationship with a partner that was just as manipulative. See how I said manipulated because as an adult (neurodivergent and mentally ill as well) was still able to be aware of the clear power imbalance between the two of us (me being neurodivergent and sexually inexperienced at 24 and him being a self admitted ‘troll’ with much more sexual experience than I a virgin, spoiler alert real life trolls are just as awful irl as they are on the internet in my experience.) and before it got to bad I was able to get the fuck out. Only took him back once for like a month and then it was splitsville for real.
I understand my situation to some people could be relatively tame. But trauma is trauma baby, and that shit leaves deep deep scars that even today in my 32 years of existence still struggle DEEPLY with. A huge fuckin chunk thanks to my uncle who now rots in jail, and truly hope he dies there. The man in many ways has ruined my life as a happy healthy human who can trust and love freely, but here we are. 32 aroace who can’t form meaningful relationship (especially with irl men) because that fucker shattered my trust. (Not to mention the slew of shitty friends.)
So I’m sorry ANON, but who the hell are you to tell me what I know from first hand experience.
This is what happens when you start spouting terms that aren’t meant for the statement. It gives when people say ‘my ocd is soooo bad I’m just such a neat freak.’ But the person with ocd is like ‘excuse me what do you know?’ Even about fictional characters and video games. Because art reflects real life.
Do you REALLY think that after everything that has happened in the last three years that RE5’s plot and setting will really go over that well when it is eventually remade? Even if it’s Chris fucking Redfield, a white man shooting down a bunch blacker than black AFRICANS infected with a ‘zombie virus’ when the word zombie originated in black culture of Haiti will go down well? Like I’ve come to adore Resident Evil but there is some more problematic shit than a grown ass morally wrong woman getting manipulated and played by an equally neigh even more terribly morally defunct man.
Thank you.

Resident Evil 5 hates women
Replayed Resident Evil 5 and decided to look up the discourse from the era. The blatant racist imagery is obvious, and frankly I don't think the games press was in a great spot to discuss it adequately on release. Frankly, as a white person I'm also not the most appropriate person to do so either, so I'm not going to get in into that.
But for all the racist shit in the game, I was not prepared for just how overt the sexism would be. Sure, it's from 2009, and things have changed a lot since then, but... yeah, there's a lot.
Character Designs
Obviously, the RE games are no strangers to giving their lady characters scantily clad outfits, and even sexualizes a character who is arguably a minor in RE4, but RE5 really takes it to an extreme.
Literally every female character in the game has some kind of skimpy skintight outfit or dress, solely to accentuate their bodies, regardless of any possible practicality for a combat situation.
This is contrast with the male characters. While they’re also basically models as far as their body shapes go, they at least get to have much more practical fatigues and body armour.
But there’s also aspects of sexism that are coded into the gameplay. For starters, Sheva is relegated to a “2nd player” role. You can’t even play as her by default if you’re not in co-op. Instead she’s an unlockable character.
Presumably, Capcom either thought nobody would want to play as a woman by default, or maybe worse, because they thought that they could dangle a woman as a reward for completing the game.
But that's not the only unlockable! There's also the costumes. Sheva’s standard one isn’t modest, but the costumes all find a way to put her into even more skimpy clothes, including shiny gold “club” attire, a business suit with a skirt so short it wouldn’t make sense outside of a porn scene, and the infamous “tribal bikini”.
All of these costumes are things you have to spend your points to unlock, so not only is your reward for finishing the game getting to play as a woman, but dressing her up in increasingly pervy ways. Hooray!
Narrative Stuff
But the character designs aren't enough. Capcom also felt it fitting to cement its misogyny in the narrative. Pretty much every significant action in the story is driven by a man.
Sheva, despite being one of the featured protagonists, is basically just along for the ride, despite being the “local guide” for the area who should know much more than Chris. Yet Sheva never uses her skills and knowledge to move things along. She’s just there to help Chris do co-op stuff, like getting vaulted up to higher areas by him because she weighs less. Girl power!
In fact, the tertiary character Josh, Sheva’s mentor, arguably helps more to move the plot along than Sheva does, since he helps drive the boat and tells them where to go on a couple of occasions. This would have been ideal for Sheva, but I guess the game couldn't let her do anything important.
Jill returns in this game, but spends most of the game mind-controlled by Wesker using some kind of magic device implanted in her chest, I guess because her cleavage is the one part of her latex catsuit that has exposed skin? The fight against her has Chris and Sheva trying to tear this off her chest in an *extremely* awkward QTE.
After getting her butt kicked, instead of zipping up her top or bandaging herself up, she just leaves it open, chest wounds oozing. For the rest of the game she basically has no role except to deliver some deus ex machina plot advice over the radio, even though it'd make a lot more sense for her to help out as an active participant.
Excella Gionne, meanwhile, is the female villain, whose two character traits are worn on her chest. She’s vain, manipulative, and ultimately expendable when Wesker turns her into a monster to attack the protagonists near the end of the game.
Throughout the story, she basically does nothing except to occasionally taunt the player and unintentionally provide info to help them. Despite being the head of Tricell, a biotech company, we never get to see her business or scientific abilities on display, just her lust for power and attempts to seduce Wesker. Her ultimate role is instead to be betrayed by Wesker, cementing him as the true baddie at the end.
Get That Dilc
And yeah, I’m going to the DLC as well. The first is pretty good and actually has Jill in a fairly equal role to Chris, with a significantly less sexualized outfit, so that's cool. I wish I could play as her by default, but hey, progress!
But the second DLC has you playing as Jill during the campaign, back in her catsuit, chest still seeping. The dialog in this is gross. both Josh and new character Doug spend almost all their lines hitting on her, and instead of telling them to fuck off, she inexplicably entertains their advances. It's ludicrously tone deaf.
This part feels extremely triggering for me, and I'm sure for others. The frequency at which women are forced to accept unwanted compliments from men, and show some sign of reciprocation for fear of retaliation, is a disappointing aspect of lived experience for many women. That someone at Capcom thought this was "charming" or appropriate for the situation shows just how incredibly, deeply backwards their views were at the time.
Anyway
When I went searching online for discussion about the constant casual sexism and misogyny in RE5, I came up pretty much empty handed, save for a bunch of gamers on reddit and GameFAQs saying how hot they think Sheva's costumes are. So I guess mission accomplished?
Not only was games journalism of the time the game released not in a place to adequately talk about the racism, the sexism was also apparently barely touched on. Was it just normal back then? Were we blind to it? I'm a different person today than I was then, so maybe.
So yeah, old lady screaming about a nearly 15 year old game, what gives? Well, in all honesty, I have to give Capcom credit for how much they improved. The turnaround in portrayals of women for the RE2 and RE3 remakes really is appreciated, and shows a genuine effort to present them as real characters.
I don't know if Capcom is going to remake RE5. I have a hard time envisioning how the devs could sidestep the fundamentally racist imagery baked into the premise, or handle it with the grace it deserves. But if it does come to pass, I'll be very curious to see how its portrayal of women changes. They deserve better.
