“I never thought I’d find a second family to call my own. In Hell of all places. They love me. I think they genuinely care for me.” You whisper to yourself, but you still unlock the window to your room, pushing it far enough that it could easily be swung open later. You take a second to clear off your desk, sweeping everything into the drawer and making sure to put your chair back into place meticulously.

“Lucifer and I’ve reached a kind of mutual respect. Mammon takes me out on fun little dates to the amusement park and Levi’s always there to provide top tier escapism movies and games that he never minds sharing,” you continue to talk to yourself as you unlock your bedroom door, making sure to have a chair within arms reach of the door.

“Satan lends me books and he’s even let me look off his homework before. Asmo’s so sweet. Such a ride or die friend and the only reason I actually have a wardrobe here instead of my 3 school uniforms and some sweats. I love cooking dinner with Beel, trading recipes and telling each other any stories we can think of.” You check your backpack, making sure everything was still neatly packed in, fiddling with the little keychain on your strap, the memory of a sweet day out with Satan, Lucifer and Mammon. You brace yourself and check your phone. 

2:08. You head out into the hallway, chills running down your spine with how uncharacteristically quiet everything was. For a haunted house, it was almost never this ominously quiet, even in the dead of night.

“I just hope I’m not wrong about this, or I’m not going to make it out alive...” You try to dry your hands on your jeans before adjusting your grip on the handles and standing up straight. You square your shoulders back and take a deep breath...

“I AINT GET SLEEP CUZ OF YALL. YALL NOT GONNA GET NO SLEEP CUZ OF ME. I AINT GET NO SLEEP CUZ OF YALL, YALL NOT GONNA GET NO SLEEP CUZ OF ME-” 

You scream as loud as humanly possible, banging the pans in your hands against each other and the railing banister, the phone in your pocket beginning to vibrate and complaints resounding from every corner of the House of Lamentation.

“WHO THE FUCK-”

“I WAS CARRYING A GLASS FIGRUE YOU ASSHOLE-”

“Was that MC?”

“MAMM- MC?” You heard Lucifer’s door slam close, followed by one or two more and sets of running feet. You drop the pans and run full speed towards your room, slamming the door shut, throwing on both locks and jamming the handle with a chair in one go. No time to spare as Lucifer pounded on the door half a second later, using so much force you stumbled back and almost tripped on backpack you’d left.

“MC OPEN THE DOOR!”

“YOU’LL NEVER CATCH ME ALIVE!” You start running, taking a half dip to sweep up the backpack before stepping up onto the second chair and bounding out of the open window with your next step. You tumbled onto the rocks below your bedroom, but you weren’t bleeding, so you were already back up and running. 

“MC!”

“MOVE DUMBASS,” You push past Solomon, who’d been waiting by the gate, and start running towards purgatory hall without waiting for him.

“YOU WERE GOING TO SACRIFICE ME???? I’M THE ONE THAT HAS TO LET YOU INTO PURGATORY HALL!”

“NEITHER OF US ARE GETTING BACK IF LUCIFER CATCHES US. KNEES TO CHEST BITCH, WE’VE GOT TO MANIFEST USAIN BOLT.”
