『SNK vs. Capcom∶ The Match of the Millennium』 Nakoruru & Morrigan
Unlike the King of Fighters characters, the two Samurai Shodown characters in Match of the Millennium, Nakoruru and Haohmaru, don't reuse sprites from a previously released SNK title.

Model Kit Build: "The King of Fighters XIV Nakoruru" by Degenerator Industry
This one was interesting. To start with, I had no idea these models were even a thing!
I went "Christmas money" shopping at HobbyTown USA for some new kits to put together. I had already picked up the Devastator model from my previous post, but this Nakoruru one caught my eye immediately (even though it was stacked up high and pretty much out of sight).
I am an absolute Neo Geo freak and I love pretty much anything SNK-related, so I started flipping out. I think I took a look at the front of the box, then the side, then I just hugged it for several seconds. What a crazy, cool kit to stumble upon!
Interesting to see nature's protector here with her trusty hawk suddenly turned robotic. Nakoruru is also sporting some sort of mecha skirt, but... Okay. I was down no matter what.
I asked the people behind the counter if there were any more in this series, and they had no idea - Said a guy just came in and ordered it through them because he was gonna put it together and display it inside one of his anime rides at a car show, but then he never picked it up. My score, I guess!
By the way, there -is- a series, including Mai Shiranui, a transforming Metal Slug tank, and more.
I got home and opened the box... My initial reaction?
Holy hell, why the fuck are there so many sprues?! This looks like what you get in an MGEX Gundam kit, haha. Wow.
So, how does Degenerator Industry stack up against Bandai when it comes to instructions and quality?
Not great, I'm afraid.
While the instructions were far better than my experience with the Flame Toys kit, there were a couple flaws.
First, as seen above, there were a lot of the "your choice" icons, much like you see in Bandai kits.
This usually means that there are two or more styles for the part you're working on. However, unlike Bandai kits, there were no pictures of the differences between the two versions anywhere to be found. How am I supposed to pick if I don't know the changes between them and have no image to guide me? I didn't design the damned thing...
This led to me taking multiple pieces apart and switching to a different part when I later realized the actual functions of each option many steps later.
Just about the only "your choice" part that made sense was when I got to the "breast unit" step:
I would be terrified, too, honestly.
Well, after building both units, I had to choose between "smaller, rocky gray boobs that don't match the outfit" or "bigger, rounder boobs that match the rest of the figure.
After trying both out and consulting a Wikia to see that Nakoruru was now at least 20, I went ahead with the better matching, larger dodonhonkeros.
Another hidden problem I found in the directions and even the initial photos on the outside - I figured out just why there were so many damned sprues in this kit: There were nearly two complete sets of everything in the box. Why, you may ask?
Well, there are no pictures of this on the box or in the instructions in a completed state, but you can basically build a "more accurate to the games" version of Nakoruru, or choose to craft a "wacky cyber armor version" because reasons. Surprise!
When I got the model, I had no idea this was even an option.
There are separate directions for making this version of her, which makes sense, but there are two versions of Mamahaha (that's the falcon) - an alternate white and red motif and a basic Samurai Shodown brown motif - but only one set of instructions.
You see, they use the same sprue letters and instructions for both colors... That wasn't obvious until I'd already built the white and red version, but that's okay - I wanted to match it to her anyway.
So, you know how I said there's almost two copies of everything in the box? Well, the only thing preventing you from building both versions of each model is that there is only one torso for Nakoruru and one head for Mamahaha. If they would have included pieces for a second set of those, then there wouldn't be so many wasted parts when you're done.
I mean, if you don't plan on changing out the parts often, which... I imagine not many people would.
But, whatever, check out the finished product:
She's got an attitude because of the troubles I'm about to mention.
These both came out looking super cool, even though (much like the Devastator kit I built previously) it took a lot of physical force to fit some of the parts.
I even had to soak the head in boiling water for a bit to get the neck joint to pop in! Pretty annoying.
Aside from all that, the sprues had thick sections connecting to the parts instead of thin or precise ones, so I had jaggies on literally every single piece I snipped. It took a long-ass time to fix those as I went along.
I guess no one can beat Bandai at their own game, huh?
Ah, well. They are both done now! Nakoruru and Mamahaha look really rad.
One more mention of waste - With double the parts and such, check out how much bigger the box was than the model, lawl:

My Review of My Stepmom’s Daughter is my Ex
How…?!
How do I live with myself? It’s not easy. You have to throw away your shame and remind yourself that you’re only human, you survived worse, and that you are trash. I’m sure it’ll be tame like Marmalade Boy and at most there’ll be a kiss scene halfway down the…
She’s half-naked on the couch and he’s on top of her. I think this is faster than Domestic Girlfriend.
Mizuto Irido is in an unconventional predicament. His father remarried! That’s not the crazy part though. With the addition of a stepmother comes the addition of a step-sister. And that step-sister happens to be Mizuto’s ex-girlfriend from middle school, Yume Ayai (now Irido). Neither Mizuto nor Yume are digging this new setup. For starters, their prior relationship ended badly so neither one looks upon the other favorably. But both are going to put up a happy face to not upset their parents.
While they put up a happy face around their parents, everywhere else they get snippy with each other. And the biggest part is both of them claiming they are the older sibling. Kinda hard when both characters were born on the same day and year! But Mizuto and Yume both play mind games with each other to make the other feel inferior. Call it a poor-man’s Kaguya-sama! Okay, let’s see how these dysfunctional step-siblings mess with each other.
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: This is currently airing on Crunchyroll. It’s been nearly a year and so far, no dub to come from it. I still enjoyed myself hearing people like Hiro Shimono and Miyu Tomita. Here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
*Mizuto is played by Hiro Shimono (known for Zenitsu on Demon Slayer, Connie on Attack on Titan, Dabi on My Hero Academia, Aoba on Durarara, Syo on UtaPri, Akihisa on Baka and Test, and Hiro on Ef: a tale of memories)
*Yume is played by Rina Hidaka (known for Filo on Shield Hero, Silica on SAO, Last Order on Railgun, Ririchiyo on Inu x Boku SS, Kohane on xxxHOLiC, Nemesis on To Love Ru, and Yamai on Komi-san)
SHIPPING: Mizuto and Yume had a prior relationship during their middle school years, but they broke things off and had quite the bitter resentment towards each other in the aftermath. Nowadays, it feels like they have a Kaguya-sama: Love is War mind game relationship, but they’re step-siblings instead of student council members. It’s not going to sound any crazier if I say it again. They have to act normal or concede defeat and be the little brother or sister in this relationship. But we do get some naughty moments between these two including unsettling scenes with the other’s undergarment.
Now what I didn’t see coming was with this friend of Yume’s, Minami. She loves Yume so much that she is willing to marry Mizuto so she can be closer to Yume. I am not sure what to make of this and I don’t feel I have the strength to deal with her. I’m just going to tell myself that Minami will end up with that other idiot in this series. I forget his name.
And then there’s Higashira! She posed a real threat to Yume, yet Yume ends up trying to help the girl out with getting closer to Mizuto and eventually confessing to him. Did it work out for Higashira? Fuck naw! Dude has other priorities in the love department and we all know what he wants.
Now, this series does show how the main duo fell in love and fell apart. They became a couple during their middle school years with some seemingly cute moments here and there. It’s just that when school, friends, and real life interfere, things took a turn for the worst for this relationship. And watching it, kinda made me feel annoyed. I’m not taking anyone’s side in this as I feel like both Yume and Mizuto are at fault for different reasons. But I’d like to chalk this up to both of these idiots were in middle school. They’re both hella immature at that age. Though, they both do stupid stuff during high school. Then again, it’s only been a year between both times.
ENDING: Before the ending, we caught a glimpse of what went down between Yume and Mizuto during their relationship. What happened and who was the first to mess up? Actually, it went south during their final year of middle school when both were placed in separate classes. After that, Yume made new friends and Mizuto was kinda resentful towards her. Then, Yume got jealous once when Mizuto talked to another female classmate. This was followed by months and months of the two not speaking to each other resulting in an agreement of breaking up. It was obvious that BOTH OF THEM regret not speaking up during that time. It becomes very obvious that’s how Yume was during a family reunion. They both have a momentary lapse of judgment and go back in time for a few minutes.
The final episode revolved around a summer festival. This is something Yume and Mizuto have history with as they were both together for one. We get constant flashbacks of their past fling and one flash that’s thrown at us several times is Yume crying alone because she got lost and Mizuto finds her. In this episode, it goes the other way around as Mizuto hides from his family and finds something solitary. Yume finds him and she kinda makes a decision. It looks like she wants to win Mizuto over as Yume Irido instead of her past self of Yume Ayai. Yeah, they kiss. They still act like they’re the older sibling and bicker. But is there something there? We probably will never know unless we get a second season.
This was something I wasn’t expecting. I came in thinking that this was going to be as trashy as Domestic Girlfriend. I come out feeling like I watched the first 13 episodes of Marmalade Boy if it was taking lessons from Kaguya-sama. As of now, both the manga and the light novel are still in publication so there’s still more to come from Yume and Mizuto. However, the manga, light novel, and anime were mostly seen as just an okay story. That’s how I’m at with this anime. It was okay. Had some good parts. Got annoyed seeing their middle school split-up. Okay, I’m starting to sound old and bitter here. Probably because I went through something similar at a younger age and look back upon it with a thick layer of cringe. That and I’m at that age where I see this and scream, “you damn youngins, get the fuck over it”. Or something like that! Decide for yourselves if you want to sit through this series or not. It’s a short series to get through.
If you would like to watch this step-sibling/past-love anime, Crunchyroll has all of the episodes available.

I finished watching the anime My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex.It leaves me the impression of worth sof my time. While things had started with the two being hostile against one another, by First episode’s end it seems likely their former relationship maybe shouldn’t be former. If this is how things start, where do things go from here? It’s the maturity of their decision (to hide from their parents the animosity)that goes hand-hand with comedic situations.
See my old post a year ago abou it: https://ashitakaxsan.tumblr.com/post/682585936538796033/upcoming-anime-my-stepmoms-daughter-is-my-ex
The supporting cast is pretty Good, each character is interesting:)
Intelligent and kind Yume is attempting to figure out the true reasons of their misunderstanding(that lead to their breakup),plus to understand why Mizuto is what and how he is.”If he’s not a bad person, nor toxic then how actually is he?”,I daresay this sums up Yume san’s pondering. So can things get mended between them?

Nakoruru is an Ainu girl who fights with her pet hawk, Mamahaha. She is a shy and kind girl who loves nature and fights those with evil hearts. She was born in a family of maidens. She possess the greatest powers out of all the maidens born in her village. Because of this, she was told by the village elder to find the source of the evil and to defeat it. Storm Collectibles Samurai Shodown: Nakoruru (Review)
Introduction:
Storm Collectibles is a Hong Kong based designer and manufacturer of action figures. Known for making officially licensed, collectible action figures, most notably from fighting game series and iconic figures. Aside The King Of Fighters series, they also aquired the license to make Samurai Spirits/Samurai Shodown action figures. The figures were made into 1/12 scale with feature numerous points of articulation, interchangeable head sculpts and pairs of hands, and special fighting effect parts. Today, the review is going to focus on Nakoruru, she was given with a standard boxart like Blue Mary and Jin Kazama. With a visible large window plastic, we can almost see the whole contents. The front part was printed with "Samurai Shodown" logo with Nakoruru name in both japanese and romaji, her Samsho render artwork portrait, age 17+ print which means the figure is for 17 years old or above. And SNK corporation logo prints. While the back part is mostly shown the figure's promotional photos showing how the figure works.
Contents:
Nakoruru comes with her main figure, she's included with 3 interchangeable head sculpts in total, 5 pair of hands in total, Mamahaha figure along with his option body parts, Chichiushi dagger with the sheath and dagger's slash effect for her certain dagger scenes. Her background paper inside the box is a diorama stage of Kamui Kotan's forest in Autumn weather.
Nakoruru is a Japanese Ainu teenager girl with small and slender figure, she has long hime cut black hair with blue shades. Her getup was based on Ainu clothing consisting white dress with red trim and some part has navy blue trim & motives. Red bow tie headband, her headband has some yellow lines. And brown boots. She was depicted to be a petite girl with a lovely appearance and personality with an "innovative" character.
Her articulation points consisted movable head, torso which is hidden underneath her clothing, arms with bicep cut, single jointed elbow, wrists, legs with thigh, single jointed knee, leg cut, ankles and tiptoe part. Like Jin, her gauntlets are movable and also removable since it's separate pieces so, we can see her bare lower arms but, her back hands wears knuckles. Her knuckles may look funny as there's no wrist band but, all depends your point of view on posing her. What I really hate from her is that single jointed are very inconvenients since I couldn't make a dynamic pose, especially when it comes to folding her elbows and knees.
Nakoruru was included with 3 head sculpts (HS) in total, first would be her standard flat expression. Second HS is her serious expression with a grit and third is her cheerful smile with open mouth. Well, her face and expressions are looking rather gentle like how she was depicted but, like Mary she felt kinda bland and empty. Her head consisted removable bow tie, back hair and head band. Yes, it's swappable but, I don't understand on having removable 3 headbands and bow tie since all headbands are identical and swappable to every hair parts. Her HS, back hairs as well as her bow tie head bands are mostly made from hard materials but, her fringes were made from a soft rubber... Sadly, some of her eyes paintapp are rather sloppy, although they surprisingly didn't really bother me.
Nakoruru comes with 5 pair of hands in total, that would be: fisted hands which was already attached to her main figure, 3 kinds of unique open splayed and gripping hands for her necessary battle poses. Her hands were also made from soft rubber materials.
Nakoruru's weapon is none other than her Chichiushi dagger. They came with dagger and sheath and the sheath usually stored on her rear holsters. However, instead of having a separated sheath, I'd rather prefer they'd just make a single dagger and the sheath remains glued or just one mold to the rear holsters. When you take off the sheath from the holsters, it leaves a paint transfers. To be honest, her dagger is way too small.
Chichiushi Dagger's slash effect. Of course, the dagger won't be good without this especially on how small they're made. The effect was made from a soft rubber material and you can simply inserts the hole into the dagger's blade. The effect was made from a semi transparent materials that is mainly translucent yellow.
Her Mamahaha accessory were also included for her companion during her fight, I gotta say, they did good on the sculpt although it's not something special since he's quite similar to many animal figures that was sold by many toy companies. Except, Mamahaha was included with option parts of wings and legs, his head is movable but, not quite much. With his alternate legs you can hang his claws on Nakoruru's gauntlets. And with his spreading wings part you can either make his flying pose or you can even make Nakoruru hanging her hands on his claws by using Nakoruru's grasping hands.
Lastly, her diorama stage was a printed of the Kamui Kotan's forest in Autumn weather background which is really fitting for Nakoruru who loves nature.
Thoughts:
Nakoruru is my third Storm figure collection but, contrast to my previous reviews... Nakoruru appeared to be very disappointing in quality, she got so many sloppy paintapp and paint transfers due to her folding fabric and her single jointed articulations are very-very inconvenients. Mamahaha doesn't come with his flapping wings which is important for his battle stance. She's also lacking her Kamui Rimuse clothing part which was actually one of Nakoruru's iconic moves. A pointy finger hand would be needed for recreating Nakoruru commanding Mamahaha. I gotta admit, I had a terrible time handling the figure, although I could still make tons of her other move lists from the game.
Thank youu for reading😁🙏🏻
