My Diverse!Bakusquad AU is slowly disappearing from my mind and I need somewhere to share it before I completely abandon it, because I swear this is one of my proudest ideas–

I should also add! If any of the characters are too different or stereotyped, you should definitely let me know. I of course don't mean to stray too far from the original characters, and I want to try and depict each of the listed cultures as accurately as possible.

Katsuki Bakugou has lived in suburban Arizona, all his life. He's a somewhat tall boy, with an affinity for basketball, a short fuse, and mommy issues. Some changes to note is that as an American boy who spends a lot of time in the sun, he does have a slight tan! It's subtle, but just enough so that you can notice the tanlines when he takes his tank off. And since this AU is also s'posed to be as realistic as possible, his eyes are an amber-ish brown. As for personality, he's the same Bakugou, just a little bit less aggressive.

Eijirou Kirishima is a mixed boy, with a hispanic-american mom and all-american father. He immigrates to Arizona, America, shortly after he turns 16. In this AU, he's got a more tanned skin, loses the scar, and keeps his hair completely natural. Though he does wear red eye contacts, he doesn't dye his hair until after he eventually moves out! He also loves to show off his bilingual-ness of English and Spanish, especially considering he has five siblings who all vary in literacy. The only change I wanted to make in his personality, is that he tends to occasionally daydream and just spaces out.

I don't know if I want to keep Hanta as Japanese or make him Korean, but either way he has a stereoptypical Asian aesthetic that I'd honestly prefer to keep. I want to keep him pretty much the same, so you should let me know if he's too different. He has the same looks, but is kinda sorta lanky, ranked the tallest in the group for standing just slightly above Bakubro. As for personality, he's generally quiet but respectable, on top of the rest of his canonverse self.

A black girl with fiery amber eyes and curly dyed-pink hair, Mina Ashido was raised in New York City! Since she does get the drastic changes in appearance, I'm keeping her personality– Just with a slight spoiled rich girl mindset. She's like Yaoyorozu in the way that she's kind of oblivious of the real economic difference between her and and her friends.

Denki Kaminari was born and raised in Utah! He's jam-packed with ADHD, freckles, and a slight self-consciousness in these freckles(his tan?? nonexistent). Other than yellowy-brown eyes and a missing black streak, he's exactly the same in every other way–

They all meet in Arizona, ofc– KiriBaku living there, Hanta's family wanting to check out the Grand Canyon for the Summer, Mina being sent there as punishment(so maybe she is a bit of a reckless partygoer), and Denki coming down to visit his cousins(polly Minoru, tbh).

It's also definitely a quirkless AU, which I was originally thinking would take place in the Summer of 1999– But I think I'm now thinking it should be set in 2015-16. As for orientations and ships– Katsuki as a questioning bby; Eijirou as a raging bisexual; Hanta as a panromantic, asexual; Mina as a lesbian; Denki as also a raging bisexual. I began the AU with a KiriBaku oneshot, but honestly this group could go in so many different directions–

I do also want to incorporate other characters, of course, at some point! The only one that's set in stone is Shouto Todoroki being maltanese. If you know, then you know.

The idea, so far, is that they all meet in Arizona and spend the Summer together. Of course they all leave for the school year(minus KiriBaku), but Mina and Denki do continue to revisit for the following Summers(sometimes Ei would have to be absent, visiting family in Mexico). The story would be centralized about how their friendship would kind of grow apart but keep reuniting as they grow older and each eventually graduate highschool.

I want them to all eventually go to ASU together, except honestly Hanta would prolly also be left out of that because he's the only one that actually lives outside of the country. Of course phones exist, and they do all take full advantage of it!

While I am on-and-off trying to come up with a story incorporating this AU, I'd also die of happiness if I– Y'know– saw other content containing these ideas 👁👁
