The dark One. Who is him?

I will later post a theory on the dark one but now it’s just rumbling and chitchat. Please feel free to interact :) !

who the dark one could be was a hot topic among readers until we got ro The War of Two Queens where it was answered. However….was it answered? Which Da'neer brother is it more fitful to carry the tittle?

The are three different concepts that define the dart one:

1 - The first one is: Who hurt Poppy? Now, we know it was Malik Elian Da'neer (my boy <3) so he must be the dark one

right…?

2 - Then the other definition to the Dark one is that he killed the first Maiden. Now we know that this would be Millicent and that she died during her ascension because Cas' blood was not strong enough to keep her alive. Therefore, theoretically Casteel “killed” the first maiden (this is how is portrayed by the characters in the book idk don’t ask me) so he must be the dark one….?

3 - This last point is not based on “what happened” but more in a fact. Through the entire series 2 facts are made clear:

(1) People outside Atlantia and the ascended of Solis have no idea who Malik Da'neers, they have no clue about the existence of another and actually older Atlantia prince, they only know about Casteel and nothing else. They don’t even know that the (now former) King and Queen of atlantia are still alive and ruling and they are even more clueless about Casteel having a brother.

No one knew that Malik even existed:

Or that the Atlantian royas were even alive and that it was not just Casteel PLUS even Cas acknowledges that he is the Dark one:

(2) Casteel is publicly know as the dark one, all through Solis, to the woods and into Atlantia, everyone knows that when people used to refer to the dark one up until Book 4, everyone meant Casteel.

I agree with most (not all) things pointed out here, even if I hate to agree. I love series sm so I will read the next one for fact, besides, I didn’t hate twotq but compared to the other 3 books it was very disappointing and whatever jla did to poppycas/kieran was a big part of that.

I hated the relationship that was written between Kieran and Poppy, It would have been better if they would have stayed as they were in AKOFAF. And that has nothing to do with the joining. I liked the joining, i I thought it was predictable ever since book 1 and I understood the reasoning of the characters to do it. But what was done in TWOTQ to poppycas and poppy and kieran's relationship besides the joining was terrible (my opinion). I am not part of that group that thinks that poppy and kieran somehow betrayed cas or that poppy cheated, I don’t think that makes sense. It’s not only (kinda) out of character for cas and it was also unnecessary )in my opinion) like poppy and kieran could have been close friends without all that romance undertones underneath. I am praying that JLA will solve/revert that mess somehow, like idk giving kieran a love interest so it would be 100% clear that the joining was to save kieran and that they are friends (because that is what is mention during the book, like poppy says that she doesn’t feel in the same way for kieran as she does with cas but that she loved him very much) or idk anything. I won’t lose my fate, there are only 2 more books (fbaa universe without counting asite) to end the series so there is still hope

My thoughts on why The War of Two Queens was a disgrace: SPOILERS TURN AWAY NOW

Kieran and Poppy throughout the series have minimal exchanges that don’t center around Casteel, their duty, or sexuality. IMO I’ve never seen domestic or emotionally intimate scenes that were exclusively just about them. Favorite color, favorite place, ANYTHING that gave them common ground without someone else being it. Had this been established prior to a poly relationship it would have been more understandable. Not only that, all that WAS intentionally invested in leading up to TWOTQ was sexual tension. By developing this plot of Poppy and Kieran having feelings for one another it smashes Kieran into a 2D character and it perpetuates 3 DAMAGING stereotypes 1) that guys and girls can’t be just friends 2) that guys and girls can’t have casual sex without catching feelings and 3) that girls (especially Poppy) will love anyone that validates them and gives them affection. It does a disservice to Kieran who up until TWOTQs was the only one not simping for Poppy, would hold her accountable, and Cas could trust. Now Kieran has no independent thought and he exists only to serve Poppy. Which also is what happened to Casteel’s character but that at least made more sense. If JLA wanted to set up a great poly relationship she should have A) invested more in Kieran and Poppy’s social relationship B) had Kieran at least be bonded to Cas still so it made sense or set it up so Kieran was her mortal heartmate and Cas was her primal heartmate C) had boundaries discussed before the joining or/and D) had the joining happen with no hints of romantic development after E) not made Cas possessive of Poppy including against Kieran — multiple times. Instead it’s a fucking nightmare and poor representation for the poly community and women in general. This is as bad as Jason Rothenberg with Bellamy and Clarke.

it's stupid considering the disasters that happen throughout the two books, but I really hope that Ian and Malik are alive and that they can get back to their brothers - Poppy and Cas deserve it.

I love how father and both sons are each of their lovers biggest fans and simps. Poppy, Millicent and Eloana could stand there literally just breathing and they would look at them in awe and fall more and more in love every second and probably think/say something cheesy

my theory is that Ian is held with Malik. It was mentioned that Ian was 'married' but in the letters he sent to poppy he never mentioned his wife. so what if he's not married and he's just like poppy (half atlantian) and that's he's held with Malik. Especially since Malik needs to feed.
