Every week, Johnny Zest invites his family over to eat and spend time together. Despite his mother, Nancy, refusing to visit him, Johnny always sets the table for four in the hope that one day she’ll come and they’ll reconcile. Seeing the empty chair makes Johnny very sad. Even though he made plenty of food, Geoffrey preferred to eat some burnt popcorn leftovers rather than Johnny’s cooking, which doesn’t speak highly of his culinary skills.

When Malcolm walked in I was more prepared and was able to hold it together. The Malcom of my universe was a cocky arrogant little punk. He knew because of his families money and name he was untouchable... or so he thought. So he went around the town doing whatever he wanted and always with a shit eating grin on his face. I could already tell just by looking at him this Malcom was different.

"It's nice to meet you." Malcom said politely.

"It's great to meet you too." I replied. "You finding your way ok?"

"I am. I've never been in a house this big. It's beautiful."

"Thank you. If you ever need help getting around just ask me ok?"

"I wouldn't want to burden you."

Yeah he was definitely not like the Malcolm of my universe.

"No burden at all. I want you to feel comfortable here. This is your home now too." I replied reassuringly.

"For how long though?"

"As long as you and your parents want. Like I told your mom you're welcome here for whatever you see fit."

"Thank you Brendon. I'm glad Johnny met you. You've really brought a joy to him."

Will and Testament.

Sensing he was not long for this world, Mortimer worked tirelessly to make arrangements for the care of his many children and grandson after his death. Having written his testament, he marched to the Landgraab manor to ask to consult with their son, Malcom Landgraab, a former classmate of Cassandra's and now a lawyer. However, he was chased away by the man himself, refusing to see him, even the next day, for coming so late in the evening for an appointment. In the end, Mortimer booked an appointment with a different lawyer for the next week.

The Landgraabs seem like the perfect family; wealthy, well-mannered, brilliant. But like any family, they have their secrets. The biggest ones being their disowned son and various infidelities.

Johnny Zest has the stage name and the dream. Disowned by the Landgraabs for quitting school, Johnny wants to make his own fame and fortune as a standup comedian. After a long stint of homelessness and drug addiction on the Del Sol Strip , Johnny is sober and finally making enough from standup to afford his own studio apartment. Does he have the talent to go the distance and prove his parents wrong? And can Nancy and Geoff really leave their empire into the hands of their younger son Malcom who is growing more sinister by the day?
