I’ve been cheating. It’s been very maladaptive Jake this past week

I feel like Jake is soooo much more of a simp than people give him credit for. Even before you start dating he’s 100% the ‘text me when you get home’ type, but ONLY for you. Or he orders a basket of fries at the bar for you to share, without you even asking, and NO ONE ELSE can have them until you’re done lol stepping out of the bar of some foreign state just to answer your late night call, and staying out talking to you until everyone is ready to leave. The whiny ‘baaabbbbbeeeee’ he pulls out when he’s ready to cuddle and you’re still shuffling around getting things set

Oh omg. And once I had this killer makeout session at the end of a first date and it’s very jake vibes. Zero pressure for sex, maybe he feels you up under your shirt, but he’s just kissing you. Trying to figure out what you like, paying attention to where his lips make you moan. Taking it slow and easy because there’s no place either of you need to be. Staring into your eyes while you take a breather, commenting on what a gorgeous color they are, stroking a thumb along the plain of your cheek, looking at you like you’re everything right now. Chuckling to himself every once in a while, so aware of how pliant you’ve become in his arms, so willing to follow his lead and taking his lips wherever they go. The record you put on has long stopped spinning but you both hardly notice. Your heads are on cloud nine and your bodies are jello but you don’t care, you can’t get enough of the taste of each other

Simp Jake? Simp Jake. I fully agree with this and I think that’s why he’s the “mysterious quiet” type we see. Because if he lets loose he’s spilling aaaalllll his emotions and he’s gonna talk about how your hair shines in the sun and how your perfume lingers in the bed sheets well after you’ve left it and all he wants to do is snuggling up into the bedding and never get out. He’ll go on and on about your eyes and how they shine in the moonlight and how soft your skin is. He will not shut up about how much he loves you and he will tell the world until his tongue falls out.

I feel like Jake is one of the types to memorize every inch of you and what you like and how he can give it to you best. Ngl babes that last dad Josh post describes the maladaptive daydream that manifested in my head at that song 😭 So here's how I imagine that video would go:

The video is on film show it's got the grainy soft filter over it that makes it seem dreamy

I feel like it would cut between the band performing the song and the actual videos so you'd have Josh actually singing it ya know

First cut is just of you in a cozy moment pre pregnancy that Josh recorded simply because he thought you looked beautiful

Then it cuts to shots from videos of the both of you being young and in love

First cut about the pregnancy is the first your mind is a stream of colors and it's a video of right after you found out you were pregnant and your looking in the mirror rubbing your stomach crying with joy

Josh then is seen in the video kneeling in front of your belly to give it a kiss and then at the kick in of the chorus it cuts to you and him in the same position but you're further along now

The video then shows moments of you two throughout the pregnancy: Josh talking to the baby, y'all building the nursery with everyone, you sitting in a rocking chair rubbing your bump, Josh putting headphones on the bump, you guys feeling her kick, the rest of the boys feeling her kick, you in while in the beginning of your labour, etc.

It builds with with those cut scenes and the band part of the video to that part at about 3:11 with the pause and then it cuts to a video of you holding your newborn daughter in her nursery she's sleeping on your chest as you slowly sway with her

Then cuts of Josh and you holding her, rocking her in the rocking chair, videos of Josh holding her for the first time, her little hand holding onto your finger, her skin to skin contact with you post birth, her sleeping on Josh's chest, her uncles and grandparents holding her, ect.

The final shot of the video is Josh rocking her in a chair at night and as the song fades out it fades into Josh softly singing an early version of the song to her

Josh is the person who wants to capture every moment, and you knew that when you started dating. So when you got pregnant you knew he would be really wanting to capture everything.

Every little thing is caught on film. The beauty; your growing belly, baby showers, nurseries, ultrasounds, clothes. And The ugly; morning sickness, contractions, labor. And of course everything in between: telling the family, concerts and shows, gender reveal, working in the studio, telling the boys, album releases, your water breaking, the boys and family in the waiting room, coming home with the baby. Josh has it all on film, and it’s hours AND hours of film he’s digging through to make you and your baby the perfect gift.

I think that’s the problem with fan studies academics who aren’t actually knee-deep in the filth of fandom, but are just... distantly fascinated by fandom; they’re trying to draw global conclusions by aggregating disparate sets of local phenomena, because they haven’t run up against how heterogeneous fandom is on the ground level. I mean, sure, there are trends! There are waves! But sometimes people do arrive at the same thing via wildly different paths, and having seen that makes me reluctant to come to any kind of conclusion (other than only very tentative suggestions). So everything I say here should probably be read as you picture me shrugging so noncommittally that my shoulders shoot up past my ears. (Thank you very much for reading v v v)

Gosh I love Hatoful Boyfriend SO MUCH. I have to confess, though, that this is one of those canons/fandoms where my love is composed mostly of the emotional memories that I have from the process of playing the game, not of any recall of actual factual details! I did play it and a short bit of Holiday Star, but I didn’t actively seek out the fandom or any fanworks, and I think that allowed a lot of the plot to ebb from my brain over time. But, I mean, it’s like 95% still there! I’ve only forgotten some of the intricacies of the BBL route!

Hatoful is a MIRACLE. It is an IMPROBABLE CONFLAGRATION WITH GREAT CHARACTERS and it would surprise absolutely no one who is familiar with my terrible track record with character preferences to hear that my first instinct was to make a beeline for Shuu. Not even exactly because of AH MY SERIAL KILLER PARTRIDGE DOCTOR LOVER feelings, but more-- I just really needed to see what he was about??!? And then it turned out that what he was about was Ryuuji Kawara, which (it would also surprise no one to hear) I was INTO. You know what I was also into?? That bit during the epilogue where Kazuaki turns up pushing Shuu’s wheelchair and Sakuya is like ?!?!?! APPLYING ETHICAL GUIDELINES TO EITHER OF YOU IS COMPLETELY FUTILE. Like what kind of convalescence interactions are Kazuaki and Shuu even having during this time!! They are both SO INCAPABLE OF RELATING TO EACH OTHER IN WELL-ADJUSTED WAYS that I was charmed in the way that you are charmed when you see something so intractable that it defies understanding. I just want them to have hilariously maladaptive cohabitation routines where they are both SO SERIOUS about themselves and the entire rest of the cast is just like ????!?!??!?!?!!?! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING

I ended up talking a lot about Shuu, but I really do love all of them so much. They are all so special and if I started shouting the names of characters I loved I would just end up shouting all of them! It’s debatable whether Shuu is even my favorite, because Okosan exists... as does Anghel... and Yuuya... and Azami... and Sakuya... and... SEE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS AFRAID WOULD HAPPEN. Anon you are a blessing for sending in this ask and you should tell me your feelings about Hatoful too!

At the end of the movie they meet up and Josh is like “Guys so much has happened, I don’t know where to start” and Markus is like “Okay! Well Simon and I are an item now” and Josh is like “...That’s too big a thing, you were supposed to be the side plot”

I realize that “I Don’t Dance” is from HSM 2 but honestly that is a sequel that is FAR SUPERIOR to the original!!!!!!!!!! (Insert 15-minute monologue here about how I think “Bet on It” is one of the funniest pieces of cultural output that humanity has ever produced.)

Josh would so love that sultry classic hollywood look, the subtle smokey eye, the lashes, the pouty lips. I think, no matter what any guy says, they can fight me, but everyone loves a knockout full-glam look every once in a while. And I think Josh is no exception to that, because he'd understand that it took you a lot of time and effort and practice to do it and hell he'd probably keep you company while you got ready, helping apply the glue to your lashes so you didn't have to wait for them to get tacky, they'd be ready right when you needed them.

This one isn’t crazy but I have an hour lunch break at work and I just love the idea of meeting Josh for a 1pm lunch date.

We’re both busy right now and sharing our nights only happen a few times a week so we make it a point to meet for lunch and chat and flirt and he always buys my food even though I tell him that he doesn’t have too and he’s all like “well it’s the least I can do since I’ve been too busy to properly take you out” and it’s like JOSHHHHHH!!!! Hello, it’s me 🧚🏼‍♀️

Thinking about your first time going to a gvf concert as Josh’s girlfriend since you started dating their hiatus.

You backstage before the show just hanging out with everyone, watching him film the rhinestone diaries secretly giving him the cue to say ‘fuck off’ and giggling (which stays in the video, people are already trying to figure out who he’s been seeing since it’s been speculated).

Him asking everyone else to leave while he re-grounds to prepare for the show. You rub his ear, he asks you to add a touch more concealer to his cheek, you just sit and chat while he finishes his tea. It’s just so quiet and peaceful which is a 180 of what’s about to happen. When it’s time to go he walks out hand-in-hand with vu you and tells you where to go after you part ways.

Before he get with the group he tells you how happy he is you’re here and as amazing it is to have his family here, that he’s excited to give you the biggest hug after it’s over. He kisses your face in random places and finishes with one big one on the mouth

‘Showtime mama!!!’ And scurries off, not before pulling aside the security to make sure they know you’re an important person and keep eyes on you! He blows you a kiss and off he goes.

The rumors really fly when he keeps looking over at you during light my love, pointing at you during ‘I choose the road’, and intentionally going over and handing you a white rose. You deal with the comments the next day if you really want

There’s nothing better than watching the person you love, spread love in such a confined space but that will leave with people and trickle out into the world. That’s your person and you’re so proud.

I love all of this. Getting to have that quiet moment backstage with him before a show, dabbing a little more concealer, or sneaking a swipe of some highlighter you have in your bag for touch ups yourself, across his cheek bones and down his nose, making him really glow 🥹

I love all over face kisses and I am a huge giggler so I can only imagine he enjoys the sound of your giggles and it makes his heart feel so light. He’s so excited for the show but he’s honestly more excited to get it over with and come back to you, to make you laugh more.

THE ROSES. One of my lil maladaptives 🤪 is that he hands out the roses, and hangs onto one, and raises it towards you in the stands if you’re out there, keeping it with him to give you it backstage, and you’re seen with it on the way to the tour bus or shuttle to the hotel. He always holds one rose back, just for you. 😭

It’s technically early Monday morning for me, but I have a soft thought to share

I can just picture being in a bar with the boys and Jake approaching you, just casually smooth talking and flirting as you wait to order

Then once you get your drink he pays for it (bcs of course he does) and asks, “do you think I’m hot?” And you’re like… yeah? “Do you like guys with curly hair?” And confused you respond, “i think it’s alright” not sure of his angle

With a wide grin he claps his hands, “great, you’ve got to meet my brother then. He’s gonna like you”

And then he introduces you to Josh and you spend the whole night talking and maybe end up making out in the bar alley and falling in love 💖

Also, an extra bonus thought, Karen has mentioned before that jake struggles with dyslexia which means he probably prefers talking on the phone or sending voice memos over texting. I’ll be thinking about this all day
