Sabito & Makomo Yandere Headcanons

A/N: I can't be the only one who feels they're too underrated. They deserve more love :"(

Warnings: Yandere themes, Makomo is platonic, Reader is training under Urokodaki

Sabito: ➼ Sabito is shy. Scratch that, he's EXTREMELY shy.

➼ Now, he probably comes off as someone who's tough and bold. However, when it comes to love, he doesn't know how to react. Just a touch could send him flying to outer space. He does get sudden moments of courage though, so when you thought he was being a bit too touchy during training, you weren't imagining it.

➼ He knows you're not scared to be independent and he loves that about you. He once saw you cooking food alone and tried to help you. End result? A horrible burn mark on the floor that just wouldn't go away and burnt scrambled eggs that were supposed to be tamagoyaki. Yeah, he's not house-husband material, but he's pretty sweet.

➼ He wants you to become stronger, he wouldn't mind if you became stronger than him, but he was very paranoid about you not coming back from the Final Selection. Is becoming a demon slayer really that necessary? Why can't you just stay with him, Tanjiro, and Makomo? You guys are like a family, aren't you?

➼ He's definitely a tsundere yet clingy type of yandere. God, blushing because of a simple touch isn't manly at all. It's not like he likes you. He just isn't used to physical contact, that's all. Right? RIGHT? Red flag? Is there any? He's even up to sharing you if needed! The only red flag I can think of is that he likes to watch you (not in a creepy way). A lot. You might think at night while getting to bed that nobody is watching you but think twice.

➼ If you think he's vanished after you officially became a demon slayer, he's really not. You're too naive to think that.

Makomo: ➼ She's the opposite of Sabito. She may come off as shy and introverted, but she's brazen as hell.

➼ She's one of the best matchmakers to have ever walked on this planet. She sees both Tanjiro and Sabito as her older brothers and she already sees you like an older sister. Makomo simply wants to be a sister-in-law, so she has a few tricks up her sleeve. She's already pulled a few, little do you know.

➼ She loves spending time with you talking about anything and everything after your training sessions. It can range from crushes, friends, clothes, to even the kind of food you like. She's a devil in disguise and uses this information for her match-making escapades. One day, you told Makomo that you liked (f/f), and the very next day, Sabito bought you sweets of the exact same flavor, how odd is that? You got excited and hugged him.

➼ Ghosts have the ability to turn invisible, you know. If you think she's left you alone after the Final Selection, she really hasn't. She likes to watch over you and is proud to see how much you've progressed. She can't even fathom being away from you.

➼ She's an impulsive yandere. She'll do anything that comes to her mind and she's quick to adapt to situations if anything goes wrong. She's a huge tease and most situations don't turn out right because of this trait of hers. Red flag? She may or may not be a bit manipulative to get her way. It's not like it's harming anyone, though. She's hellbent to get the happy ending she desires.

➼ Makomo and Nezuko would be BEST FRIENDS if they met. Their personalities match a lot. Three of you having a sleepover- how cute does that sound?

one thing that is very common in the aus is that if giyuu was like, being berated and teased by anyone, sabito would usually be the first to be like “leave him alone” or something. even though giyuu is more than capable of defending himself, he’s just a sassy guy who does NOT give a fuck

but, i feel like makomo would be the one to immediately defend giyuu.

she’s already done that before in canon when the hand demon insulted and laughed at urokodaki and the previous students (that did get her killed tho)

she would be so ready to jump someone for her best buddy giyuu (sabito would join dw)

i recently saw art of the demon slayer characters playing musical instruments and was wondering what instrument you think the characters would play

ooh very good question! music is not my field of expertise but i can try to organize my few thoughts - also if i mention an instrument that didnʼt exist during that time in that area (which i will) just imagine it's a modern au ^^'

also: i did include canon musical skills but only those i could think of off the top of my head so there might be some stuff missing or just plain ignored lol

okay so we know that zenitsu plays the shamisen and the koto (which apparently originates from the chinese guzheng even tho my former japanese neighbors have been trying to tell me otherwise but what do i know lol i just thought it was funny) and i think his talent would expand to other string instruments as well, he could probably learn how to play the guitar, bass guitar, maybe even violin etc very easily

i can also picture sanemi with a guitar because @trans-ace-lee established that in the modern au and also i think it would be really sexy 😌 which is why i declare it canon

genya would try and copy his brother but he'd be really bad at it and switch to another instrument that's more his style, i'm thinking maybe drums. at first he does it to look cool and then actually having fun is a nice bonus lol

tengen "canonically" plays the harmonica, tho i can see him being a natural at most instruments he picks up. in the au he's been playing piano since he was a child because his dad wanted him to but he actually ended up loving it, he also had to learn hichiriki (a type of flute) and also i made him a music major so he probably plays a ton of instruments a little bit

speaking of flutes, we know that gyomei plays the shakuhachi. given his supreme hearing i'm sure he could learn to play other instruments as well but i don't really see him doing that tbh? like he has his flute and he's very contempt with his flute, the same applies to yoriichi

and nakime obviously plays the biwa in every universe, nakime and her biwa are inseparable

ideas for which i don't have any reason and which are solely based on vibes: giyuu - violin, sabito - e-guitar, kanao - piano, kanae - harp, douma - something unnerving, like an organ, akaza - drums, senjuro - kokyu, daki - goto

and honorable mentions of characters who i think have beautiful singing voices: kanae, tengen, kokushibo, sanemi, nezuko, aoi, kagaya, makomo, urokodaki

Completely fucked up over the dead people in FS&S.

Sabito died in chapter TWO, but that one moment irreversibly changed the entire narrative. It destroyed the Tomioka found family, stole Makomo’s childhood and forced Sanemi to take his mother’s old role as leader of the Hashira which just stockpiled the stress he was already under as the new head of the Shinazugawa family, Obanai’s trainer and dealing with so many losses

And then Sanemi dies. The boy who had everything and then nothing. And we see in the end of that chapter that every other Pillar is irreversibly changed again. And we see him everywhere. In the wind, in Mitsuri’s knuckles, in Genya’s smile, on Nezuko’s sword, in Obanai’s fighting style, in every broken arm and wall of wisteria trees. And now with Nezuko and Shinobu staring down Rui, each who have lost their families and know the pain of it at the exact same time that the queen of demons has arrived where Sanemi’s remaining relatives are defending the new master of the demon slayer corps. Everyone was born to die and we don’t even see how much everyone loved Sanemi until he’s gone

And even for smaller characters, Urokodaki who did not hesitate to adopt Kotoha and her bastard baby when they needed help, Tanjuro who tried to raise five children without being able to move much because of illness, Tsutako who hated Douma with her entire life being defended by him after she is replaced because of how much she meant to everyone else around him, Ume appearing to both Nezuko and Tanjiro as apparitions to push them forward in both skill and mental fortitude respectively, I could go on

The FS&S narrative is haunted, maybe even moreso than kny canon. It is haunted by those who were born to die and chose to love regardless.

It’s in the little things, Urokodaki stitching up Kotoha’s face knowing she would need to help him commit seppeku as soon as he was done, Sanemi writing a letter for Genya before he sets off on every mission he goes on just in case something goes wrong, Tanjuro giving Nezuko the earrings that really should have gone to Tanjiro and knowing that his life was forfeit the second he parted with them, Giyuu taking off his mask that he never took off because he hid behind his bond with Sabito just to throw himself into certain death because someone needed to clear the way for Makomo, every one of them loved with everything they had and paid the price for it

Your story is haunted in the most beautiful way possible

Well, my headcanon is that Makomo is 1 older than Gyomei and according to canon he beats Sanemi, Obanai and Giyuu at 6 years old, so Gyomei would be a teacher at 19 and Makomo at 20 (and I'm not getting that out of the way nothing in my headcanon is like this)

In my AU the one who was very interested in quidditch is Makomo in fact,she was very passionate but due to an injury she could no longer continue

in my AU Sabito is not interested in quidditch ironically(It is more likely to see Sabito wear an animal on his head, mainly a badger cheering on some quidditch team),but the one interested in quidditch is Gyutaro who is on the Slytheryn team Sabito is more interested in the care of magical creatures or herbology and actuallyhe is pretty good in both(in fact,Sabito escapes in matches because he believes that the match is fixed and whoever makes the snitch win)and Daki/Ume is something like his little assistant,she's only there because...

1-Gyutaro commissioned Sabito to take care of his sister(since he is in Slytheryn)

2-she is only interested in pretty flowers and animals

(If I didn't put Makomo in divination because it would be very cliché,but yeah,she really likes it)

I can see Giyuu interested in the dark arts or defense against the dark arts

Despite being so creepy and weird,Sabito is the prefect of Hufflepuff

Chihiro(my headcanon of Obanai's cousin in my AU)of Slytheryn

Sanemi and Murata from Gryffindor

And Yukio from Ravenclaw(that's my headcanon about Tengen's younger brother)

Yae is the Seeker of Gryffindor

Yukio(my hc of Tengen's youngest brother)is the captain of the team of Ravenclaw he is a chaser

The captain of the Slytheryn team is Obanai's cousin,in my au she is called Chihiro

Mitsuri is good at potions

They have pushed Sabito a lot to join the Quidditch team but he simply says "naaaaaa, I prefer to be surrounded by these majestic beings rather than animals"

There's also been a lot of emphasis on Ume/Daki,but she simply finds Quidditch more difficult and disastrous than spending time on Earth with Sabito and his little plants or the magical creatures

Hogwarts AU

I think I should talk more about my Hogwarts AU there will be a bit of a change in ages

Makomo and Gyomei were prefects(Makomo in Ravenclaw and Gyomei in Hufflepuff)in their time as students,now they are teachers

Makomo is the transformation teacher Gyomei is the care of magical creatures Shinjuro is the history of magic teacher

Giyuu and Kanae are on the Slytheryn quidditch team and Sanemi,Obanai,Kyojuro and Yae are on the Gryffindor team

I'm the only weird one who put Sabito and Daki/Ume in Hufflepuff,because who says that someone creepy who prefers to be in the middle of the forest and a badbitch with high standards can't be Hufflepuff?

(also Sabito for some reason gives me Newt Scamander vibes and Daki/Ume gives me Tonks vibes,well they both have a bit of Tonks vibes)

I like to think that Kanae and Shinobu's(and the rest of the girls') brooches are fairy wings

Finally got to figure out a Sabito lived AU that feels faithful to the story and characters (imo ofc)

(long ramble under the cut)

This diverges from canon at Giyuu's and Sabito's Final Selection. Giyuu is hurt all the same, and Sabito kills all demons... Except for one. On the last night there, he runs into the Hand Demon, who tells him that he hates Urokodaki and starts teasing Sabito. He pulls his arm so hard that Sabito almost loses all strength there. Then, as he is about to crush his head, Sabito snaps and cuts the hands holding him with his left hand. The Hand Demon gets mad and throws him, knocking Sabito out like it did to Tanjiro. Makomo, who had seen them training, appears to him because she doesn't want Urokodaki to lose another pupil (and, basically, son). She convinces Sabito to run away because the Demon cannot be defeated. Sabito, unable to move his right arm and having lost his left eye, decides that's the wisest decision and hides for the rest of the night, succeeding at the Final Selection.

As they're recovering, Giyuu confesses he feels like he doesn't deserve to be part of the Corps, it almost seems like he wants to quit. Sabito gets real mad, because he can't understand how Giyuu, who is capable of continuing the fight, doesn't want to, while he, who is ashamed of running away from a demon (therefore allowing it to kill more people) and wants to make up for it killing as many demons as possible, doesn't know if he'll ever be able to use his right arm again. Sabito keeps the secret of the Hand Demon because of the shame he feels and because he doesn't want to cause Urokodaki more pain. Giyuu feels guilty because he thinks that Sabito is the one who deserved to come out unharmed, and after seeing Sabito so frustrated, he decides to train until he can no more. These feelings they keep from each other create a little fracture in their relationship.

Giyuu starts on missions and in between he comes back to Urokodaki's, but it slowly becomes less frequent. Sabito starts rehabilitation and after half a year or more, he's able to control his right arm more or less like before the injury, but realizes he'll never have the same strength in that arm. So he has to re learn Water Breathing, now to execute it with his non dominant arm.

He starts getting harder missions and therefore climbing ranks. One day (he is Tsuchinoto or tsuchinoe), and not having seen Giyuu for months, he learns from Urokodaki that he became a Hashira. Sabito is far from jealous but he is hurt that Giyuu didn't tell him himself. It's been a long since Giyuu last sent him a letter. Sabito trains harder and he sends a request to become Giyuu's tsuguko. Giyuu does not take him in. Giyuu still feels like he doesn't deserve the position and thinks that he has nothing to teach Sabito, but Sabito has no idea this is how Giyuu feels and just doesn't understand why Giyuu is rejecting him.

Sabito reaches rank Kinoe and also achieves the requirements to become a Hashira, but the Water Pillar seat is still occupied. By this time, Giyuu saves Tanjiro and Nezuko. Sabito no longer lives with Urokodaki, although he visits from time to time. Sabito feels like he is at a stalemate. He goes to mount Sagiri looking for Urokodaki's advise and some inspiration. He learns of Tanjiro and Nezuko, and wonders again why Giyuu didn't tell him that either. He feels like Giyuu is building a wall between them (and he is). Sabito finds Tanjiro training and beats him just like in canon. Makomo guides Tanjiro in his training in between his rare encounters with Sabito, who secretly puts his trust in Tanjiro to defeat the Hand Demon. Makomo appears to Sabito again, and reminds him that Water Breathing is about adaptability and that he can take that to further lengths. Sabito realizes that his growth was slow and eventually stopped because he should've adapted Breathing to his capabilities and not the other way around. During the six months of Tanjiro's training, Sabito comes up with a new Breathing (I'm inclined to call it something like Snow or Ice Breathing). Then, when Tanjiro is about to effectively hit him for the first time, Sabito dodges and that's when he breaks the rock. Tanjiro leaves for the Final Selection and Sabito goes back to missions.

When Rengoku falls, and seeing that they might be getting close to fighting Muzan, Sabito is called to occupy the position of Hashira. With his Pillar privileges he finally goes and confronts Giyuu. But Giyuu still doesn't open up to him, and instead is internally bitter that Sabito did not become the Water Pillar in his stead.

Tanjiro, by Oyakata-sama's request, talks sense into Giyuu, and makes him remember that it is for Tsutako and the very same Sabito that he got to where he is, to protect others with all he's got regardless of the outcome. Giyuu is able to have a small chat with Sabito--mostly, he apologizes and struggles to explain himself, but Sabito is just grateful he is trying to make amends. Sabito participates in the Pillar training (probably challenging them to fight without using all their limbs or senses, because he tells them that such a wound should not make them retire from the fight) (Giyuu's training would focus on a defensive style based on flexibility, much like what Dead Calm is about).

Sabito fights side to side with the rest of the Hashiras. (In a similar to canon setting, he'd probably fall. But this is a nice AU, so everyone survives). In post canon, he and Giyuu finally confess all they went through and go back to Urokodaki to enjoy some peaceful time together.

Inverse of the last ask, the current hashira (and maybe the others if you want) are springboarded into the epilouge future. How would they react to seeing the reincarnations/descendents and the lives they have (I really wanna see how giyuu would react to the reincarnated Sabito and Makomo and how Obanai would react see his and Mitsuri reincarnations children)?

By this I'm assuming you mean that they travel forward in time to see where they end up, so I'll definitely see what I can do lol hope you enjoy!

(Note: For all of these; assume no canon deaths have occurred, everyone is safe and sound. Think of this as a foreshadowing dream. Time eras of reincarnation are not specified so feel free to get creative with the time periods.)

Muichiro:

He kinda just woke up in his family home, not really sure of how he got there

Frankly, he remembers nothing from last night, but that's kind of a given

His brother wasn't there, which kind of saddened him because the memories kept flooding back to him like a crashing wave

However, what he did see was himself (or at least a version of himself) and a beautiful woman who he could only assume was his wife

They couldn't see him though, which was perfect because Muichiro decided to follow himself around for the day

He found out that he owns a small stall in a market selling various types of produce and even little wooden dolls for children that his wife makes

He also found out he owns a cat, courtesy of Gyomei who breeds them

He was elated to find out that he gets to live a normal life with a wife and hopefully a future child

When he woke up, he was back in his quarters at the hashira base, looking around for the life that he knew was going to happen in the future

At least now, he has something to look forward to in the future. Something to be his drive

Mitsuri:

Mitsuri woke up in a strange bed, it definitely wasn't her's but it was wayyyy warmer than it should've been

So she looks to her left and saw a familiar head of black hair, and when the person rolled over, her heart filled with joy but also extreme confusion

Obanai, apparently, is her future husband? It's not that she has a problem with that, it's more so she didn't think that they'd survive to get to that point, or at least be reincarnated to get to this point

Then she heard an infant's cry, to which her future self woke up to go check on. It was a little girl, with her pink hair with black strands throughout. And heterochromic eyes, one blue and one green.

And when I tell you this girl is in tears-

Sobbing crying frowing up-

For the first time, she finally has the relief of not having to worry about finding a husband, because now she knows it's someone that will love her for her

She found out that she herself is a matchmaker! She also owns a small sweets shop as a side hustle

When she woke up, she smiled with tears in her eyes. There wasn't anything to worry about for the future. Because she knows everything will turn out okay.

Obanai:

Mans was strangely warmer than usual when he woke up, but seeing the pink and green hair, he knew exactly who he was with

"Mitsuri? There's no way... we actually survive as hashiras? Or is this just another version of me?"

Yeah he's so fucking confused lol

It's not like he's unhappy about it though, if anything he'd only trust and love Mitsuri enough to be his wife, let alone the mother of his child

Speaking of children...

When Mitsuri hears their child crying, and brings their daughter to Obanai to get her to calm down enough to go back to sleep

This man is completely overjoyed, to the point where he actually sheds a few tears

Like damn he actually has a future with her? That was insane to him, in the best way possible of course

Obviously he knows that this isn't exactly him per say but he could tell by mannerisms that it was definitely himself and Mitsuri with their child

He found out he's a bassist for a band with Sanemi, Rengoku, and Giyuu, with Tengen acting as their manager

When he woke up, there was no Mitsuri, no child, and definitely no band

However, he found Mitsuri as soon as he could and swung her into a huge hug knowing that one day, in this lifetime or not, he'd be with her for life

Gyomei:

He knew something was very off when he woke up

However, he did hear a female calling for him, so he decided to follow this weird version of himself

Hearing the words "babe" and "my love" only made him assume that this female was either his girlfriend or his wife, either way he couldn't tell

And again, he's not opposed to it at all. He knows that at some point in the future, or in another lifetime, that there will be someone who will accept him for who he is

He found out that he's a youth minister at a local temple, helping kids through their strife and guiding them on the right path in life. Even doing therapy with them with the aid of cats

When he woke up, he immediately got to praying. Thanking the gods for the foreshadowing of one of his future lives

...

Sanemi:

Sanemi was a little terrified to say the least

I mean come on, waking up in a bed with a strange woman?

He didn't remember having a one night stand like at all

But upon realization, he figured out that this wasn't his timeline, rather it was a future version of him

And the girl in his bed was his girlfriend... awkwardddd

Either way, he kinda wanted to figure out what the hell this was all about, so he did some deep diving

His girlfriend is a costume designer, a pretty renowned one at that.

He plays lead guitar and vocals in a band with Obanai, Rengoku, and Giyuu also

I mean he's not complaining or anything, if anything he finds that kind of life ideal in a weird way

His band performed that night, which was pretty cool to witness despite it being his future self

When he woke up though, he was a little bummed out. Given how he'd have to wait multiple lifetimes to achieve what he witnessed

But at least he had something to look forward to, and that's all that mattered to him

...

Shinobu:

The poor girl was startled to find Giyuu in her bed, but at least it was someone she trusts

Upon further evaluation, the room she was in was definitely more futuristic than she remembers it being

And Giyuu has tattoos? Unbelievable

And she only knows it's Giyuu because there's no way in hell she'd mistake anyone else for having black hair that's that long and spiky

But she wakes up, quietly snakes her way to the kitchen to start cooking, and tries to get over how bizarre this feels

When Giyuu wakes up and hugs her from behind, he knew this definitely was not her timeline

Because there's no way that in the timeline she's from she'd date Giyuu, unless it came down to it of course (nudge nudge wink wink)

But shoe goes about it as usual, allowing whatever the dream had to offer happen

She found herself running a flower shop and apothecary in one, which she felt was rather befitting

Then the evening came around and somehow in some weird way she found herself at a concert? At least Giyuu was performing so she must've had a reason to be there

When the day ended in the dream, she wakes up to her own bed. Relieved that it was just a dream

Although, she couldn't help but wonder if that was a foreshadowing of her future life. Be it in this time line or otherwise

...

Giyuu:

"Why the fuck is Shinobu in my bed-"

Yup, that's his immediate thought

Then he notices the tattoos running all down his arms and realizes he's not in his own home

Although, he couldn't complain because he knew that this was out of his control, so he rolls with it

He found out he's the lead singer and harmonic guitarist of a band with Rengoku, Sanemi, Obanai, and Tanjiro. Kind of a weird mix but hey the performance he had that night went really well

As a side hustle he figured out he works for a music store as a vocal teacher, how he got into music he has no idea

But, the real kicker was that he got to see Sabito and Makomo again

Yeah the tears were real-

But like always, he wakes up. Saddened that it was a dream but hopeful it might become a reality someday

...

Rengoku:

"Well, this is not what I was expecting..."

He was wondering how he got here, was he kidnapped? Or was this a dream? Hell he wouldn't know

Then he saw the most beautiful girl laying next to him, so naturally, he pulls her in for cuddles lol

"Kyo, what're you doing up so early it's 2 in the morning..."

"Apologies my love, I didn't mean to wake you, just go back to sleep okay?"

Yeah despite the unusual nature of the situation, he decided to take it in stride and embrace the moment, in typical Rengoku fashion

When daylight hit, and he went to go get dressed, he saw a military uniform in his closet, it was a Marine uniform too, perhaps he was a part of the military in this dream?

He definitely wasn't expecting to be a part of a band, playing drums for them and whatnot. But Obanai and Sanemi proved to be skilled guitarists and who knew Giyuu has a beautiful voice? Rengoku didn't that's for sure

When he awoke though, he was soaked in sweat, unsure of what to do with himself

Regardless though, despite how creepy the situation was he was definitely grateful he got to see what his future life would look like

Tengen:

Of course his wives were there, or at least some version of them were

But little did he know that there was a fourth

Ah yes, mans has the rizz but he didn't expect to have a fourth wife in his life, or maybe this is a dream and he's just basking in the moment

Either way, he went about his business as usual, little did he know that three dogs would be running around rampant

"This is definitely a dream..."

Then he proceeded to get dressed, though his hashira uniform wasn't there. Only a lot of black shirts, pants, and a pair of tactical boots along with a tactical belt to match. Not so flashy in his opinion but it would have to do until he figures out what the hell is going on

Then work came around, hence the reason for the tactical belt

"Babe! I don't think you wanna leave this behind again."

I'm sorry is that a gun?

Yeah he didn't know how dangerous managing a band would be. But he had to say the boys did do really good.

When he woke up from the supposed "nightmare", he found his wives safe and sound with him, no dogs in sight, and his flashy clothes were still in his closet

He didn't really know how to view that, but he knew that if it ever happened, it would be the best thing that's ever happened to him

This took a while lol I had a hard time figuring out what kind of occupations they'd have. I guess you'd consider this another modern AU? I'm not too sure tbh but I hope you enjoyed! Let me know what you want to see next!

All of you looked at the demon with terror. It was one thing to eat people, but to eat one group of people because of who their mentor was, that was truly awful and Tanjiro and you were beginning to boil with rage.

You look to Tanjiro and find him furrowing his brows and gritting his teeth, slowly you put your hand on his wrist lightly and keep it there for a couple seconds before slowly moving it back to your side and moving your wrists that the feathers you have hidden in your arm sleeves move to a looser position.

The demon continues with his boasting as you both continue to silently rage at the awful descriptions of what he did to the children that he unfairly sought out.

"Speaking of which, the ones that left me with the most impression was this pair of kids," the demon mutters out loud, "and of those two the kid with the rare hair color was the strongest."

'Sabito,' you thought to yourself sadly.

Tanjiro stood with a unreadable expression as the demon continued with his tangent.

"He had a head covered with pink hair and a scar on one of the corners of his mouth.”

Immediately a mental image of Sabito appeared in Tanjiro’s and yours minds. You could only get more and more upset as the demon looked proud of what he had done to them.

“The other was a little girl wearing flower patterned clothing. Even though she was small and not very powerful, she was quick and light with her movements.”

‘Makomo,’ you and Tanjiro thought.

Tanjiro, however, looked perplexed as he remembered seeing them at Urokodaki’s home. They even trained him to be able to succeed in the first place!

The demon, seemingly not realizing the mounting anger within Tanjiro and the deathly calm surrounding you, despite you being very angry.

“That fox mask is a mark. I remember the style Urokodaki uses when carving the masks. The tengu mask he wears is carved the same way.”

Tanjiro clenches his blade a little tighter at that, while you glare up to the demon through your hair. You send a quick glance to the boy behind you as he takes the hint and starts to slowly make his escape.

“It’s called a 'mask of disaster prevention' or something right? It was because they were wearing it, that they were eaten.”

Tanjiro shakes with anger as the demon proudly boasts of his murders.

“They’re all in my stomach. It’s as if Urokodaki killed them himself.”

You grip your hilt as you seethe with rage as the demon laughs at how he killed your friends.

“How dare you laugh at the pain you’ve caused!” You shout, “you’ve ended innocent lives! Just because of a mask?”

The demon merely continues to laugh as he continues.

“When I said these words, that little girl was so angry, she had tears shining at the corners of her eyes.”

He continues laughing, his hands covering his mouth as he laughs with unfiltered glee., his gaze soon shifts to you.

"Much like there are tears in yours."

Looks of hatred filled your faces. as the demon continued on describing how he dismembered the poor girl. The second he finished his awful boasting, Tanjiro dashed forward and cut and slashed the hands that came to him as he neared the demon.

You jumped back as a hand came near you and ran. jumping from tree to tree to try and evade the hands that continued to come towards you.

"Tanjiro! Don't think about what happened to them! Do you really want their deaths to lead to your own? Live for them!"

You shouted, rearing your hand back and throwing it forward as some of Eden's feathers flew into the demons arm and caused it disintegrate. Tanjiro was momentarily stunned by your words. Getting smacked by the demon and into a tree, rendering him semi-unconscious, you dashed and rolled forward cutting the arms of the demon that got too close to him.

The boy that you both had been protecting runs away, seeing his chance with both of you being occupied. You continue to fight off some hands as Tanjiro slowly stirs awake, his brother yelling for him to wake and fight spurring his alertness.

He wakes just as you look at him, getting momentarily distracted and end up getting smacked into a tree. This sends you into a daze as you skid on your side from the attack, your leg getting scratched up. Tanjiro uses this as a chance to attack the demon and deter it away from you.

He finds himself in a difficult position as you are too delirious to help and finds it difficult to fight this demon as his hands just keep growing back. He notices a strong scent from the ground and jumps just in time to avoid an attack from multiple hands.

The demon takes this chance to send a straightforward attack to Tanjiro, which he deflects with a hit to the hand from his forehead. This leaves the demon defenseless, but confident Tanjiro can't kill him.

Elsewhere in the forest next to Urokodaki's home, two spirit's converse.

"So, Tanjiro and (Y/N) are going to lose after all? Its head is really tough," the youngest of the spirits says with disappointment and sadness in her tone.

The older spirit, sitting on the stone Tanjiro split doesn't respond at first. Seemingly contemplating his response before saying, "Might lose, might win. But there is only one truth right here in front of us, and that is."

He places his palm flat on the split stone, "Tanjiro is the only man that was able to slice open the toughest and hardest rock thus far and that girl..."

Back with Tanjiro and his fight with the hand demon, he yells as he unleashes the First Style: Water Surface Slice, slicing the demons head clean off.

The demon couldn't react as a memory came to him of a time long past of when he first encountered Urokodaki and that style of breathing. At this moment Tanjiro runs to your side to wake you and help you with your injuries while the demon stares on as he helps you up.

"Are you alright?"

Worry etched on his face as you wince at the scratches on your leg that weren't protected by your socks.

"Just a scratch, Tanjiro, I'll be fine."

Youdirect your attention to the deteriorating demon with sad eyes, Tanjiro following you. Even if the demon has killed many other slayers and humans, it is still sad that he was manipulated by Muzan and forced to live the rest of his semi-immortal life locked up here after being caught by Urokodaki. You couldn't imagine how sad he was when first turned, to then turn to this monster with no empathy.

'Why do you have that expression on your faces?'

The demon stares at you both with tears in his eyes, not used to being shown compassion at this point in his long, long life. Especially from demon slayers.

With you now a little patched up, both you and Tanjiro move closer to the demon slowly turning to ash and blowing away with the turning of time. His hand slowly extends out as his mind cries with the memories of a brother he had long forgotten.

Tanjiro is the first to move as he grabs the demon's hand, you slowly make your way to the hand as well, and place one of Eden's feathers in it.

"May you live a better life and find your peace," you say as Tanjiro stares with a sad look on his face, making his own prayer for the demon.

The hand demon passes on, hand in hand with his brother. Hopefully onto a better life where he won't be plagued by the terrors that he faced in this one.

KIMETSU NO YAIBA MUSES:

Nezuko Kamado (demon): - Nezuko’s memories are foggy, but her personality is pretty much still there. She only acts the way she does (childishly) because she never got to. She always had to be an adult and big sister for her siblings and to help care for everyone in the family. It’s also a trauma response to witnessing her family being murdered. - After awakening her Blood Demon Art, she’s able to control herself more than in canon. She begins learning how to speak, and she keeps her muzzle around her neck. She’ll put the muzzle back on when meeting new people, but keeps it off for people who trust her and vice versa. - By the time she conquers the sun, Nezuko is speaking much more readily than before. She has begun dealing with her old memories, and acts much more like she used to before becoming a demon. - Urokodaki taught her sign language when Tanjiro was recovering from Final Selection. The Butterfly girls followed up these lessons over time, and when Nezuko has her muzzle on, she’ll communicate through sign language. - Nezuko can see ghosts. She’s always been able to, but after becoming a demon, she sees them much more clearly and can communicate with them. Tanjiro also has this ability, hence why he could speak to Sabito and Makomo.

Nezuko Kamado (roleswap): - Nezuko and Tanjiro are twins in this AU. They were born on December 28th, and they celebrate their birthday with their family on New Year’s… Hence why they were trying so hard to sell enough charcoal for the feast that year. - Tanjiro and Nezuko share the Hanafuda earrings. Nezuko took both into town with her when selling the charcoal from Tanjiro’s insistence. If Muzan had seen them on the boy that night, he would have been killed rather than turned into a demon. After that night, they share them to protect them both. - Nezuko was taught some of the Hinokami Kagura, just like Tanjiro. However, her body is much more acclimated to it, and she’s able to use it more easily than her brother does in canon. Because of this, I believe she would have been able to kill Muzan in the finale, but still loses mobility in her arm and eye because of the strain the style takes on her body, plus the whole eldritch demon constantly attacking you. - Much like in canon, Nezuko has kindness and thinks of humans as family to protect (not literally though lol) - However, Nezuko’s temper is much more intense than Tanjiro’s. She’s quick to bark back at those who do her or her friends wrong. She’s meaner to the demons she faces. The only reason she doesn’t hate them outright is pity– she can see their backstories flash across their eyes when they die, and she wishes them to be free of suffering eventually. - Bisexual. In either timeline/universe she could either end up with Kanao, Zenitsu or Inosuke (or any other character/muse her age). - She obtains a scar during Final Selection similar to the one Tanjiro gets in canon. It gives her a lot of insecurity since it looks “ugly.” - Her legs are still insanely powerful, and she’ll incorporate them into her battles.

Tanjiro Kamado (roleswap): - Tanjiro’s Blood Demon Art is a lot like Nezuko’s, however it’s red and orange instead of pink. - His hard head remains, and he’ll often use it in battle. When Nezuko falls asleep on the train and he can’t wake her up, he accidentally splits her forehead open with his hard head… Which causes him to cry and ignite the blood with his Demon Blood Art. - His hair is still long and kept in a ponytail. When he goes berserk in the Red Light District art, his hair comes undone. - The bamboo muzzle was a gift for their mother that Nezuko had picked up in town. Since it was on her person when Giyuu found them, the hashira improvised, turning the hair ornament into a muzzle. - Instead of vines, Tanjiro’s demon markings are red flames. After he goes berserk, the pink scar on his head seems more flame-like. - Pansexual, and either timeline has him with Kanao, Inosuke or Zenitsu, or both. Some include Genya or Muichiro, or Senjuro… Or whatever my partners wanna do lmao

Senjuro Rengoku: - Senjuro is Tanjiro’s age by the time the series really starts- 15. - He’s incapable of using Flame Breathing. His body rejects it. Or more so his brain does. He doubts himself, and his father’s bullying/neglect don’t help matters. - However, with encouragement from his brother or even Tanjiro, Senjuro continues trying to be a swordsman. - After wishing on a star, he dreamt of a way to fight that would suit himself. Something strong and beautiful, quick. Not nearly as explosive or intense as a flame, but something that glowed bright from afar… a Comet. - Hence Comet Breathing- his own style. It has only one move so far, and with inspiration from Zenitsu, he hones this move to perfection. - Slowly but surely, Senjuro begins to gain confidence and cheerfulness. He has started taking missions, and finally got his blade to turn colors- hot pink.

Giyuu Tomioka (au): - In this AU, Giyuu is swapped with Inosuke role-wise. Inosuke still exists, however he was rescued with his mother by the Butterfly estate, and was trained and kept safe there. - Giyuu ran away from his adopted relatives when they tried to commit him to a mental institution like in canon. He had seen his big sister get killed by a demon, and still believes in them. He resolves to get stronger and slay demons one day. - However, instead of a hunter finding Giyuu and taking him to Urokodaki, Giyuu was found by a wolf pack. The alpha female took him in with her own pups, and raised him as one of their own. - Giyuu remembers how to read and write thanks to meeting Sabito later down the line during his hunts. The two became friends, encouraging Giyuu to test himself and become a slayer too. - Instead of Water Breathing, Giyuu created his own breath- Wolf. He was able to save Sabito (or not, depending on the partner) and graduated from Final Selection. - He wears the pelt of his wolf sister on his shoulders, the head acting like a hood and mask. His hair is long and unkept. His eyes are still serious, but not hollow. - Giyuu is still pretty quiet and stoic, but he opens up much more when traveling with Tanjiro and his friends. He does well in a pack, regardless of the lone wolf he tries to be because he lost his original pack. His personality is like a cross of his canon one and a what-if personality if he had never lost Sabito.

I want o request a head canon, but I want to make sure this request is fine and or in your comfort zone. So what ships in Demon Slayer make you uncomfortable/you don’t really want to make head canons for? Because I have a ship in mind, that I really like, but I want to make sure first that it is in your comfort zone!

Hey there 🌸 anon! I’m comfortable with any ships from demon slayer at the moment that don’t fall under the typical big no no’s (no 1nc3st, no @bus3, and no p3d0ph1l1@ basically at the top of my head, really anything that isn’t on my dni should be fine). However, I will say that I have only seen season 1 of the anime (oh god I need to check if/when season two came out), so any of the characters and their relationships who get more developed later on I probably won’t be able to help with. An example being mitsuri x obanai, which I have seen is very popular, but I don’t know enough about the two to write anything. So anything with the characters Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Nezuko, Kanao, Shinobu, Tomioka, Sabito and Makomo should be fine. I hope that helps, and if it is someone later developed I can announce when I’m done with season 2 if you’d like (if that exposes me to the characters you ship) :)

ok- soooo… my brain thought of smth a tiny bit fucked but the i remembered this is kny and atla so it’s ok to be fucked. so, in the series water benders are like- not really in the war, but they were basically taken from the south tribe for war reasons. the angst in my brain is that the southern tribe in this au is where urokodaki would train all of this students (yes, the past dead ones are alive in this) and then the demons attacked (they’re basically the fire nation in this).

(also in this au in my take (you can see how you’d like) the demons aren’t really demons. they’re human, but they use this fucked up branch or rather a “weed” of the breath-bending that’s the equivalent of dark magic basically.)

they just took everyone with no remorse for anything, and then they found out that water’s conductive. sooooo- torture via electricity was used to make the water benders weapons of war!!! yay!!

giyuu was considered one of the best in the small tribe (i think between him, sabito, and makomo, giyuu was the one to completely master water breathing and well- survived canon). shock collars were obviously used- cause this is demons we’re talking about.

giyuu and basically all of the tribe were just abused for years (lets use giyuu’s age as a reference). the tribe was taken when giyuu was 8- the controlling and abuse didn’t stop until giyuu was 19. basically instead of him finding tanjiro, tanjiro found him.

you can only imagine how just aggressive giyuu was, a major contrast to his usual calm and stoic personality. tanjiro probably couldn’t even get close without giyuu being violent so he called for backup from the corps/friends. let’s say that sanemi and shinobu and kyojuro were sent there (sanemi was there in case of a fight.) to say that giyuu’s condition was worrying would be an understatement.

literally every single water breather was fucked- they needed the moon for spiritual healing but we’re never given the chance to see it for god knows how long, barely any food or water. kyojuro probably threw up when he saw kids in there. sanemi was just pissed about this, a whole ass tribe was ignored by the world. also don’t worry, literally no one is dead from the water tribe. but idk of that’s a good thing tbh….

it took them literally forever to get giyuu to trust them, like trying to tame a wild animal. but the simplest thing is what got literally the whole tribe to trust them, the promise of seeing the moon and sea again. tanjiro was just happy to see the southern tribe from the stories, but so sad that they were like this for 11 years. the moment they even opened the door for the tribe- it was literally like setting caged birds free. though urokodaki was the one who told the four, “thank you” and followed his students into the beach on a full moon.

also the shock collars took some time to remove, no one really sat still at all, or some stood unnervingly still. shinobu knew that it would them literal years to recover from all of that trauma, potentially a whole lifetime. kyojuro probably sobbed his sweet little heart out when he saw them so happy on the beach (emotional bitch), sanemi was still fuming, mf was READY to put an end to this war. he just imagined genya in this situation and was like “no i im not letting this slide” and proceeded to sink the entire fleet that did this to the tribe (W sanemi).

sighhhh this thought happens from remembering the episode of when katara found another water bender from the southern tribe (holy fuck i can’t remember the name) and she ended up being fucked in the head after all.

so, does that mean giyuu can be feral and deranged when he’s completely ticked off?? yes, more feral giyuu content for the starving people. he’d be so much more intense with any threat (maybe like when azula was going a bit silly) but after the threat is gone he’s just “woopsie daisies my bad yall”

they ended up taking the tribe to the corps and basically giving them a safe place to heal and relax. gyomei ended up being good friends with a lot of them because water benders are very sweet to him and the kids thought he was cool (a little scary at first). giyuu, bless his soul, was found by tengen immediately. mf knew he HAD to befriend this guy, sabito wasn’t having it tho so know there’s sabito and tengen beef.

Why do you think Sabito and Makomo work well together? You seem to pair them up in your kendo AU and tease them in the Makomo fic so I'm curious.

Hmmmm honestly? I don't think I started shipping them until I begun writing Makomo Gaiden and conceptualizing their personalities based on the limited info we got from canon.

It's partly because I'm a huge sucker for the childhood friends to lovers trope...and I'm also weak to the down-to-earth, hot-headed boy and calm daydreamer girl dynamic.

5. gsh, Giyushino demon slayer AU fanfiction, where Shinobu and Kanao travel to a sea town to hunt down Douma, a fae. The town worships a sea fae and get an omen that basically make them go, yo, you gotta marry him. You Gotta. And shinobu so desperately wants to go “no❤️” but needs to lodge in that town so agrees. Ends up marrying Giyuu, adventure ensues as he helps her hunt down Douma. For an “arranged marriage” prompt except I don’t like standard arranged marriage fics.

6. Kg, killugon fic set a couple years after canon when Gon and killua reunite. For the “kisses before a battle” kiss prompt.

Grief Anon: sorry pressed ask too soon. I mean like you have so many different characters expressing grief in so many ways. Swap!Shizu burying hers in liquor. Swap!Giyuu and Swap!Zenitsu wearing literal masks. Swap!Shinobu and Swap!Katsu taking on their siblings’ personalities to emulate the “better person”.

And the words you use to describe the grief:

Zenitsu:

    [Zenitsu] sat down on the other side of Giyuu, his own mask in his lap. Nezuko noticed that the crack on the cheek was fixed with some sort of adhesive. He took a deep breath and continued his train of thought. “I had to come to terms with my loss, that she was gone and I couldn’t change that. I didn’t want to accept that. I dedicated every waking moment I had to destroying the thing that took her from me, but all I did was set expectations for myself that I would never meet. And the more I failed to meet them, the more burned out with life I became.”

    Giyuu turned to look at him. “So then how did you do it? How did you pull yourself out of the cycle?”

    Nezuko was curious to hear this for herself. Zenitsu glanced at both of them before he put his mask on his head, turning its face to rest against the side of his head so it didn’t cover his face. He had a tiny smile that did little to hide the anguish behind his yellow eyes. “I didn’t.”

Shizu:

    Nezuko planted her feet and twisted her body to snap her arm back and scramble to her feet. “And you think you’re entitled to everyone putting up with your behavior, you’re wrong. Berating your children, belittling them, how could you do that when he’s clearly mourning?”

    “And what would you know of mourning, brat?” The woman’s voice was so harsh, so defensive, that Nezuko was at a loss of words. What did she know about mourning? She wanted to get mad and scream at Shizu about her own hardships, something the woman could never understand, but Shizu’s scent finally pierced through the stench of alcohol surrounding her. It was the same scent she got from Zenitsu, it was the same scent she got from Giyuu and Makomo, it was the same scent she got from Tanjiro and even herself.

    It was broken. It was empty. It was shattered into a million pieces. It was sunk down into the deepest abyss of Hell, never to rise again.

And even in the new chapter with Katsu:

    Nezuko snorted and bumped his shoulder. “Nice.” Her smile quickly fell. “Wait, if that’s you, where’s your wife? Your kid?”

    The scent of sorrow nearly knocked Nezuko onto the floor with how quickly it punched her in the face. Yet, Katsu’s face didn’t change once. 

    “They’ve passed on a while ago. My son a bit more quickly than his mother.”

    “I’m sorry for your loss.”

    Katsu’s smile came back a little too fast for Nezuko’s liking as he stood up to return the photo to its original position. “There’s no need to waste sympathies on an old man like me.”

Though I’m curious about Katsu because didn’t he have two kids in canon? Do I even wanna know what’s happening there?

Hi!! I’m so so so glad that you like my writing! (no comment on katsu’s family rn, y’all gotta wait for that)

Grief is a hard emotion to conceptualize and write, imo. I’ve used the words “his eyes sunk down through his nose and into his throat” to describe what it feels like, but what does that look like from the outside? What is a person’s breaking point and does their grief hit it?I’ve had a lot of time in the past year to look into this, especially since my English lit class thesis for the entire course is “What is the depravity of man? What is the price of man’s soul?” and grief often plays a large part in my research.

Below the cut, I’ll get into the writing process behind how I change and create characters surrounded by grief, using the Flowers, Sounds & Stones characters as references

When I approach writing a character grieving another character, I have to know the whole story. It’s not just “they lost someone”, but “who was that person to them? What was their relationship dynamic? How did this person affect their life?”

My mother losing a coworker I had no connection with is very sad and I mourn this person, but I’m really just mourning the loss of life. I did not know this person. On the other hand, if someone like my best friend were to die, I’d be losing someone who is a significant role in my life (i love you, julia, but you’re not allowed to die before me). My emotional response would be very very different.

The same goes for characters. If the main character of my book were to lose his husband, what would change? Would he become emotionally distant from others because his husband was his emotional crutch? Would he try to emulate his late husband’s mannerisms in an attempt to keep him alive? 

And then that brings us to survivor’s guilt. Just because a character loses someone close does not mean that the story is over. In the real world, time does not stop for grief and in fiction, it doesn’t either. I have to analyze how the characters will continue living, even if they can’t move on. Is there a physical change along with an emotional one? Is it an entire mentality change?

And then as we’ll see with Katsu’s arc in Love, Mist & Demons and even in the series’ finale, how do we handle characters that aren’t mourning people, but mourning and even going as far to romanticizing (and romanticizing does not mean romance) the idea of the lost loved one. How does this affect the grieving process? 

Of course, grief isn’t always about a lost person. Grief can also come from a lost way of life, a broken relationship. In his flashback, Obanai has a breakdown of grief and confusion when he realizes that he’s actually Iguro Obanai, not Iguro-Chan, and that he will no longer be able to pretend that he’s a woman (this is moreso emphasized when he gets outed and skips town as he realizes that he has no other choice but to embrace this new part of himself). Obanai loved being his father’s daughter, he loved all the dresses and makeup and being the bride-to-be who was to be swept off her feet by her childhood love, evidenced by how even after a complete social transition, he still paints his lips and fantasizes about being swept off his feet by Mitsuri. Yet being his father’s daughter is a role he can never return to. The bridge is burned and he has grieved that lost life.

So the questions you asked were “what are my secrets to writing grief” and “how am I able to get this range”. Simple answer: I think really hard all the time (sponsored by adhd and autism)

Long answer with the above context: Outlining characters is the first part of the writing process regardless of what they’re going through. Characters affect the plot and they are also shaped by it, it’s a symbiotic relationship. I’m telling a story with my characters, that needs to be laid out before I start chapter one. Do I want to tell a story of healing? The character needs to be hurt first. Do I want to tell a story of joy? The character needs to experience some sadness first. This is called growth and development, and that is crucial to all stories. The plot drives growth and that growth drives the plot.  You can’t have a plot without conflict and growth, that’s just a drabble. 

I can’t say that there’s a secret to writing any emotion, including grief. In actuality, all I’m doing is using characters to tell stories that all intertwine together and I’ll remind you that the Flowers, Sounds & Stones story has been going for over a year and a half, I’ve had four books and over 200,000 words to develop these intermingling stories into a single cohesive plot. There is a range of emotions because the plot calls for ups and downs. Our main characters don’t always win, they don’t always lose. 

My advice to anyone who actually read all of this: Writing shouldn’t be You versus The Characters, it should be a partnership. Fictional or not, your characters are affected by their surroundings just like you and me. As your story evolves, so should your characters. Take into account how your characters interact with each other and relax, you got this. spoilers ahead 4 tha whole series!!

📃 what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc?

kny is a manga w an anime adaptation thats had 1 season so far n a movies bein made of my fav arc!! (also this plot desc may not b perfect bc i havent read it in like 4 months)

its abt a boy called tanjirou whos whole family got killed by a demon, n his sister nezuko got turned into a demon (which fun fact: in kimetsu theyre man-eatin creatures w different powers called blood demon arts!!)

hes sent by giyuu (a demon slayer!) 2 join tha demon slayer corps so hell become stronger n mayb get a little revenge. as a treat (and also mayb find a way 2 turn nezuko human?)

as he trains he learns how 2 do water breathing (a sword technique taught by him n giyuus mentor, urokodaki) n his final challenge is 2 cut a massive boulder in half w his sword

its real hard 4 him (as u can imagine) so 2 kids in fox masks named sabito n makomo come n help him, but after tanjirou cuts tha rock n tells urokodaki abt him its revealed theyre dead???

@ final selection (basically a demon slayer entrance exam where u win by surviving on a demon-infested mountain 4 seven days) he learns from a real fucked up demon that hes exclusively been targetin urokodakis students n that not even sabito could slice its neck open?? (thats how him n makomo died)

after tanjirou kills tha demon n basically puts all tha water breath students’ souls @ peace he passes tha exam!! its been 7 days n now he gets his nichirin blade (the only kinda sword that can kill a demon, tha only 2 ways they can die is thru a slice 2 tha neck from a nichirin blade n sunlight)

turns out nezuko was turned by the strongest demon of all, michael jackson muzan kibutsuji, n so he sets out 2 hunt him down n try 2 kill him

but he aint so strong @ first so he needs 2 try 2 take down tha twelve kizuki first (the 12 strongest demons besides muzan)

another reason he needs 2 kill tha kizuki is 2 gather their blood for a demon named tamayo n her assistant yushirou!! tamayo can make a cure if tanjirou can gather blood samples 4 her (the stronger tha demon tha more of muzans blood they have so hes gonna have 2 aim high)

he meets a bunch more slayers along tha way, includin zenitsu (a scaredy cat thunder breath user who basically simps 4 nezuko n becomes a badass when hes asleep) n inosuke (a rowdy beast breath user who wears a boar mask n lived in tha mountains)

after lower moon 5 gets killed by giyuu, nezuko unlocks her blood demon art (exploding blood!) n tanjirou remembers how 2 use tha hinokami kagura, him n nezuko get captured by a slayer called shinobu qwq

turns out she n giyuu are 2 of the nine hashira, the strongest of all tha demon slayers!! but theyre all havin a debate over whether they should kill tanjirou n nezuko 4 goin against corps rules n travelin w a demon

eventually oyakata-sama (tha leader of tha slayer corps) comes in n tells em its ok, urokodaki sent a letter explainin that nezukos never hurt anyone n if she does, tanjirou giyuu n urokodaki all have 2 die basically

oyakata-sama also tells em that tanjirous met kibutsuji, at which everyone goes feral at (and understandably, none of em had ever even seen him before hes that elusive)

so they get 2 live bc theyre like. tha best hope the slayers have @ findin kibutsuji

the rest of the hashira are kyoujurou (flame), muichirou (mist), mitsuri (love), obanai (serpent), gyoumei (stone), tengen (sound) n sanemi (wind)

theres also kanao (shinobus pupil, flower breathing) n genya (sanemis brother, eats demons 2 gain power n basically become a demon temporarily, also He Has A Gun)

ive gone on a lot here so ill try 2 keep it brief now but i HAVE 2 explain infinity train or ill die (slight suicide tw but no one actually does that outside of dreams)

BASICALLY the lower 6 moons have a meetin @ kibutsujis infinity castle, muzan decides 2 dismantle tha lower moons bc they keep fuckign dying

all of em get their shit wrecked except enmu, who avoided death by usin muzans “dont tell me what 2 do” rule against him n beggin 4 death basically

so he gets a metric fuckton o blood n goes off 2 kill tanjirou

turns out he keeps killin people on his train n kyos gone 2 investigate!! the main gang (the kamaboko gang as the fandom calls it) are there too bc tanjirou needs 2 investigate what hinokami kagura really is (turns out its sun breathing, the og form and ones that only folks w the same mark on his forehead can use) n if anyone knows abt the alleged “fire breathing” as they know it rn its the fire hashira!!

so they get on tha train (inosukes lovin tha experience bc hes Literally Never Seen A Train Before) n kyo basically adopts the whole group

they take some tickets n promptly fall asleep HERES WHERE ENMUS DEMON ART COMES INTO PLAY!!! DREAM MANIPULATION BABEYYY

BASICALLY he can make people fall asleep in a buncha ways (the mouths on his hands, his weird eye thingies, the tickets) n once thats happened he n his henchmen can access said dreams (he can even control em!!) n if they find tha “spiritual core” they can destroy it n essentially leave em as an empty shell thatll never wake up!! yaaaaaay /s

he fails bc tanjirou realises a way out n its by cuttin his own head off in his dream, eventually everyones awake again n tanjirou finds enmu on tha roof(?) of tha train

after a while he does manage 2 decapitate him but surprise!!! hes not dead

turns out he literally FUSED WITH THA TRAIN n is plannin on eatin everyone inside, includin kyo n the gang

but he doesnt bc Main Protags Cant Die(tm) n dies while complainin that he wants a redo (sorry enmu, ily but u cant turn back time unless ur yoshikage kira)

also sidenote enmus tha only kizuki w/o a canon backstory as far as i can remember and????? H??

ANYWHO after that whole debacle basketball akaza (UPPER moon 3) shows himself!!! FUCK

n after all that struggle against the 8th strongest demon of all time now they gotta deal w tha 4th strongest????? damn,

so yeah it goes how youd imagine, its a tough fuckin battle n its Not Fun but it turns out kyoujurou fucking dies n i genuinely didnt realise until he said “kamado my boy, lets have one final chat” bc i was so in denial n lets face it i still am now

long story short idk how im gonna manage 2 get thru the movie w/o breakin down @ the end

anyway after that horrible horrible time tanjirou goes n meets senjurou, kyos little bro, who gives him kyos sword guard thing (its shaped like a flame!!) n i havent read it in a while so i cant FULLY remember but i think this is where he learns abt sun breathing??

after that they end up goin on a mission in tha red light district w tengen, his 3 wives are there 2 serve as spies (theyre kunoichi, which i think are ninjas of some kind??) n the boys have 2 find em

they do manage 2 find em but not after runnin into upper moon 6, who are 2 twins called daki n gyuutarou

after that fight tengen has 2 retire bc he got fucked up p bad from that fight n he wants 2 make sure tha girls are ok above all

so after that arc tanjirou n nezuko go down 2 tha swordsmith village (bc the guy who usually makes his swords is fuckin tired of repairin it) n run into mitsuri!! she tells tan that theres smth in tha forest thatll make him stronger

ngl this is tha arc i remember tha least abt so this desc is prolly SO inaccurate despite havin 2 o my favs in it)

but muichirou shows himself too n hes mean 2 tanjirou >:/ (he does get nicer eventually but 2 him specifically)

a 10 y/o kid named kotetsu shows tan this 6 armed trainin robot called yoriichi type 0 (based on tha first slayer 2 use sun breathin) n tanjirou breaks it by accident qwq

but he keeps trainin thanks 2 kotetsu but tha kids a harsh fuckin trainer ill tell u that

anyway so we have a whole buncha demons 2 deal w here except most of em are 1 demon split into different parts

hantengu n gyokko, upper moons 4 n 5 respectively!! mui deals w gyokko while mitsuri genya nezuko n tanjirou deal w hantengu

in these fights mitsuri n mui get their demon slayer marks!! these are marks that they get when they surpass the limits of tha human body n they look like tha marks demons have (muis looks like clouds on his cheeks n mitsuris is 2 hearts on her collarbone)

next up is tha hashira trainin arc!! everyone gets trained by each of tha hashira 2 try n unlock their slayer marks

each have a dif trainin style that focuses on dif stuff (for example gyoumei focuses a lot on physical strength n stuff like that, obanai is more abt accuracy) n this is where giyuus backstory gets revealed bc he doesnt think hes worthy o bein a hashira :((

basically him n sabito were absolute besties!! they both trained together n sabito basically told him not 2 die ever

but it all goes wrong @ final selection- sabito manages 2 take down every demon on tha mountain but one of em, that bein the hand demon that exclusively targets water breathers (theyre easy 2 distinguish bc of their blue haoris n custom made fox masks)

he manages 2 save giyuu n everyone else from tha selection except 4 himself (this is why giyuus haori is like that- its made from his sister n sabitos haoris)

giyuu blames himself 4 both of their deaths bc he failed 2 protect em n says that he doesnt deserve 2 have passed tha selection let alone b a hashira,, but tanjirou convinces him otherwise!! ^^

then one day while giyuus trainin w sanemi disaster hits- oyakata-sama, his wife n two of their kids just died

the 2nd to last arc- the infinity castle!! thingsre gettin real n muzans revealed himself

in tha infinity castle EVERYONES there but can u really blame em theyve been workin up 2 this 4 millenia

shinobu runs into upper moon 2- douma, aka the bastard that killed her sister as well as inosukes mum

she is. justifiably pissed. n she gives it her all but he kills her :(( douma ily but also FUCK YOU.

so perfect timing!!! heres her adopted sister!! as well as inosuke!!!! revenge battle time >:0

in the end shinobus poison is what kills him- her whole body is filled w wisteria poison thats deadly 2 a demon so he basically consumed her whole body weight in poison rip

but ofc word gets out via messenger crow that shes dead n its just a real sad moment tbh :( but theres no time 4 that bc giyuu n tanjirou just ran into akaza >:((

so tanjirous pissed as hell now n w their combined efforts they take down tha basketball lookin bastard (bastardball??)

meanwhile obanai n mitsuri (n yushirou iirc?? he uses his own art 2 control her @ some point tho i cant remember when) deal w tha new upper moon 4 (nakime, whos also shiftin tha rooms around w her blood art n makin tha fight super fuckign annoyin tbh) n muichirou genya sanemi n gyoumei deal w kokushibou (upper moon 1, also tha original sun breathers twin brother so he gets moon breathin >:3)

mitsuri n obanai fake their deaths w help from yushirou n muzan falls 4 it, which comes in handy later ;3

zenitsu also deals w his former bully, upper moon 6 aka kaigaku aka dickhead supreme who if zenitsu didnt kill i would personally kill w my bare hands

so after everyones taken down all thats left is muzan >:( muzan kills tamayo real early on n everyones goin all out on him

we also learn that he has multiple brains n hearts in his body eww

also the hashira have their marks now!! but all but sanemi n giyuu get killed n giyuu loses his arm :((((

genya also gets killed noo

eventually ofc the battle is won thanks 2 everyones relief, it took for fuckin ever bc the only way muzan can die is tha sun so they had 2 kill time n keep him out in tha sun 4 a long time

also nezukos been cured!! shes a human!! n shes comin 2 help!!

but OH GOD OH FUCK MUZAN TURNED TANJIROU INTO A DEMON N GIYUUS CRYIN N INOSUKES CRYIN THRU HIS MASK N ITS GOIN SO FUCKING WRONG but he gets tha will 2 turn back bc Fuck You Muzan, The Power Of Friendship Defeats All

the 2nd to last chapter is tha happy endin, the kamaboko gang visit tanjirou n nezukos house, giyuu cuts his hair n SMILES n tha hashira have their final meetin w oyakata-samas son kiriya

i cried readin it ngl their sufferin is finally over...... it cost a lot but now theres no more demons,,,

chapter 205 is set in tha modern day! kanao n tanjirous descendants are shown, as well as zenitsu n nezukos

everyone who died/never had kids get reincarnated (for example gyoumei is now a daycare worker, kyos reincarnation toujurou is besties w one o tans descendants n giyuu (giichi) is friends w sabito again!! makomos their friend too!!

ALSO KIRIYA IS STILL ALIVE hes the oldest man in japan!! this is huge bc the ubayashiki family dont usually live past 30 bc of a curse that was put on em when they had muzan

yushirou is still alive too but thats bc hes a demon n he paints tamayo for a living qwq

it just made me cry so hard bc waaah,,, everyone gets 2 live a demon-free life now,,, anyway typin this took me like an hour im sorry mint (as well as anyone else who read this)

a mess of notes/comments/ideas/expansion on my day 3 fic for giyushinoweek, a song of the sea. :)

- the original idea was to base shinobu off of a stonefish, due to those being one of the most venomous fish in the world, and also their use of spines and stings to administer that venom. They’re not the prettiest fish--maybe a lionfish or something would be more appropriate (lionfish being my second choice) but the lethal spines of the stonefish appealed to me more as shinobu’s weapon, due to her sword/fighting style in canon. i also didn’t do that much research, so if i were to expand the fic i’d probably look into it at least a little more haha.

-giyu is what others in the fic call “sea-touched”; the abilities of those called at such kind of vary, but essentially they all have superior water-related abilities of some kind. giyu has especially good navigation skills and is very good at predicting currents and whatnot. he lives alone by the sea and makes his living as a fisherman and being hired onto bigger ships for his abilities. 

-sabito and makomo are alive, but live far away for some reason. urokodaki taught giyu, but is also no longer around (physically, he’s not dead) for some reason too. hadn’t thought this part out that much, even though i’m like, convinced they’re alive here haha. another vein might be that sabito and makomo are also merpeople, hence why giyu lives alone. 

-in the same vein of canon, kanao doesn’t speak very much due to trauma, and so she doesn’t use her natural abilities that much. 

-the natural abilities of the mermaids/sirens refer to their voice; despite physical combat (which shinobu and kanao are very skilled at) in relation to what kind of mermaid they are, their voices are extremely powerful and can distort the sea and the weather. their voices can lure, and also kill, if the intent is there. this would need more exploration of mechanics and probably something to temper the OP-ness of it. i was also playing with the idea of consequences of using the voice for deeds like what shinobu did--severe interference and destruction. didn’t really have time to fully delve into that possibility.

-oyakata-sama lives in a large house/mansion extremely close to the sea, like he has a private dock kind of thing. he helps when shinobu/mermaids in general come onto land, his family has been sea-touched and particular friends of the sea for generations, and they’ve always assisted in these supernatural affairs. he and his family are also why shinobu is able to integrate fairly easily, to an extent, into human society. he and his family teach her a bunch of things. they’re like....what’s the word....bridgekeepers between the two worlds?? that’s not the word, but you get it.

-kanae is dead in this au, killed by humans. i guess there’s a lowkey parallel of humans in this fic vs the demons in canon. buuuut since shinobu offers giyu her protection, i was thinking the reason why the sister don’t hate humans entirely is because kanae had been friends or in love with a human, but was found out by other humans who had more malicious intentions for her. another vein, in a much more expanded setting, would be that shinobu does hate humans and does hate giyu at first and is far more grudging about offering her protection, but he did save kanao, and so it’s much more of a slow burn.

-if i were to be completely self indulgent, i think it’d be neat if like, shinobu/the sisters were mermaid princesses haha. this also might be why there aren’t really consequences to her using her abilities??

-regardless, the sisters would be the last of their clan/school/type, and they are of the more powerful, if not most powerful, mermaids/sea creatures. 

-if you’ve read xxxholic by CLAMP, ideally the protection that shinobu offers would play out like the smaller, episodic stories there, where people come to get their wish granted but it ends up being granted in like...not a way they expect. this would be why shinobu says that giyu may come to regret protection from one such as her; being a mermaid, and a particularly powerful one, she doesn’t have the same values (those i suppose she’d be aware of them, via interaction with oyakata-sama) and perhaps, a certain lack of control over the way protection is granted. like, “magic does not follow the same constraints” kind of thing. although i did really one at least one really dramatic scene where people come to bully/attack/kill giyu because of the wealth he’s accumulating, and shinobu appears and like. rips them apart and it’s really dramatic and kind of gory lmao. the deep sea isn’t a kind place, and shinobu is.....protective. 

-also ideally is that this fic would kind of play out like a grimm fairy tale style wise? i kind of didn’t want to run with the threads of like...giyu and shinobu falling in love and one becoming entirely human or mer, or “the little mermaid” esque story where shinobu has to give up her voice to be on land, or the one where she’s captured and kept in a tank and interacted with that way before she’s freed somehow, etc. (all of these are good, i just didn’t want to write them LOL) i guess i wanted more of a coexistence kind of thing? i want there to be a cool exciting dramatic plot, but like, i don’t actually have one. i guess this would end up being like, my usual giyushino bonding exploration except mermaid AU LMAOOOOO

-shinobu appears and goes into town with giyu sometimes. she’s not exactly fascinated by human culture, but she finds it interesting enough. maybe she also begins to sell remedies and stuff, in accordance with her canon doctor position. sea secrets. people probably assume that this mysterious girl has also become giyu’s mysterious wife. (they’re kind of baffled and sort of like, talk around it, so giyu is oblivious to the assumption until much much later. shinobu catches on faster than he does.)

-i think mermaid aus are another thing, like soulmate aus, that i love reading but like, don’t actually want to write myself LMFAO

-wow a lot of this is shinobu focused. again. i just love her ;__;
