Note
many of my mutuals post rinharu, so i wanted to ask your top 10 makoharu official art to lighten my dash?
😭😭😭
Okay I'm definitely gonna post more than 10 bc i have a lot to say lmao bear with me
Tumblr media
This one is my fave of all time, not just mh. But the thought of Haru stroking the cat's head and then lifting his hand to stroke the back of his fingers on Makoto's cheeks? My brain short-circuits
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now which one of us survived these two arts? Certainly not me. The fact that these are set post-canon, showing not only how their bond is stronger than ever but that Haru is the one initiating the contact, and the fact that it's proof beyond doubt that Makoto is SO significant to Haru's journey as a swimmer (when we already know he's significant - see: most important - in every other aspect of life outside the pool), the idea that he only got this far bc of Makoto, "it's meaningless without you" and "i appreciate you being here for me" walked so these arts could run. Thank u kyoani for canon makoharu visual guide.

I remember when this spoiler dropped it was just so 😮‍💨 honestly what makes this scene so peak for me is Ikuya walking past, watching them being gay and is like... u know what not my circus not my monkey. He's so valid for that. But overall the fact that Makoto knows Haru well enough to help here even when he's not his coach, the fact that Haru trust him when his body needs to be in peak condition. Stop it. Their trust and respect for each other just gets me.
Tumblr media
Any art where other things are going on but Haru just has eyes on Makoto is peak (and there are an abundance of them). But art where Haru's precious water is splashing so beautiful and Haru's STILL only got heart eyes for Makoto? Pure gay nonsense.
Tumblr media
MAKOHARUTOKYO MY BELOVED FOREVER!!!! The way this shit BROKE tumblr, nothing will ever compare again. They went to Tokyo together. THEY WENT. TO TOKYO. TOGETHER. I'm eating my hat.
Tumblr media
Makoto being gay. What else is new. I like to think this is the exact face he makes when they go through their baby pics and Haru flicks his forehead for being moist (even tho he's being just as mushy inside)
Tumblr media
Y'all remember when Makoto was studying too hard for finals and Haru came to make sure he didn't over do it, drapped his coat over a sleeping Makoto and fell alseep with him????????? Bc???? Helloo?????? Insanity.
Tumblr media
As IF the art of them sharing a pair of gloves whilst they hold the other to keep warm wasn't bad enough u mean to tell me there's a drama CD to go with it? Will my suffering never end??
Tumblr media
Last but not least (until i reblog this with more) this cute ass pic of them from the free calendar hanging out with the twins and cats. The domesticity of it all...
Hope u enjoy, stick around for more lmaoo
Also @ moots and other mhs pls reblog this with your own fave arts thank u

Do you still need me? And Haru for the ask game!
Haru wasn’t really sure when it had started or why, but evenings like this did… something to his defenses. It had become routine, watching the sky set stage for the moon, winding down with quiet tasks around his home, engaging in the practice of reflection. The lull of it all made him comfortable, made him honest.
Watching Makoto walk around the kitchen with ease, putting away clean dishes and talking about his day like this was his own home, like he was meant to be doing exactly this, it struck Haru (not for the first time) how much Makoto had grown since they arrived in Tokyo. Change made people uneasy, and growing amidst change felt clumsy, but Makoto had been meeting the challenges of growing older with a grace built out of semi-reckless hope. Living on his own, taking on major academic workloads, being a mentor and a motivator and a leader — he’d taken on putting his fears in his back pocket and carving out a place for himself in the future he wanted, like it was always his to create, like it was always his to want. Haru, bearing witness to all of this, getting to see Makoto become Makoto firsthand, was immensely awestruck and proud in a way that he couldn’t find enough words for.
Tonight, that pride mixed with his own fear he didn’t dare voice usually, but spilled out from a wrecked smile now all the same: “do you still need me around?”
“Well, I’ve got the dishes handled, but that’s not what you meant, is it?”
Apropos of nothing, a barely-breathed question with a weighted admission still sitting between them, Makoto turned with a hum and considered his response. This, too, was something new they feeling their way through together: not retreating from insecurities, learning how to navigate the uncomfortable but important things out loud. Another thing that scared Haru (scared them both a little), but he felt Makoto was adjusting to over time like one day it’d be second nature. Even though it was hard to sit still or meet Makoto’s eyes without slamming the emotional door he’d just opened, he stayed in the room and tried, which was enough for Makoto to continue without deflecting or retreating himself.
“Is it okay to say I’d still want you by my side, whether I needed you around or not?”
Haru stayed quiet as Makoto sat down in front of him, one hand laying palm up on the table. Haru looked down at it, lazily drew patterns on Makoto’s hand with his finger, trying to imagine being wanted, simply and unconditionally. “That wouldn’t be too bad, I guess.”
“Haru, I… it’s easier to calm down and remember who I am when you’re around. God, I can’t imagine how much harder leaving Iwatobi would’ve been without knowing you’d be around too, helping me get used to… all of this.”
“You could’ve done it. You’ve done a lot of ‘this’ on your own already.”
“Thank you, but that’s not what I’m getting at.”
Makoto takes and squeezes Haru’s hand, imploring him to look up. Wide blue meets gently crinkled green and Makoto continues.
“Sure, I could be exploring Tokyo alone, having dinner alone, but you’ve made sure that I don’t have to do everything on my own all the time. You make me happy, Haru, and that’s enough. By letting me still stand by you, by choosing to stand by me in turn… that’s more than enough for me, okay?”
Haru swallows, nods — he knows this is true, this unwavering call to keep choosing each other, and his doubts quiet down for the moment in the face of earnest appreciation. He’s red when trying stutter out a “me too, it’s the same for me,” Makoto immediately responding with a small laugh and understanding nod of his own.
The moon rises, they’re here together, and in this moment, it’s enough.
(Send me a prompt, if you want!)

Would love to hear you thoughts on some makoharutokyo hcs if you have any. The sappier the better or makoharu + Tokyo boys hc.
Sappy makoharutokyo? The best subject thank you anon 😌😌😌
- Haru wouldn’t say he has a complex about his height because he isn’t necessarily short, but he’s definitely more… aware of his height when at Makoto’s place. Makoto will take whatever storage opportunities he can for all of his things, so putting things on top of his cupboards, for example, just makes sense to him. He doesn’t think twice about putting things in high places because when he has Kisumi, Hiyori, and Sousuke over for stuff (his most common company besides Haru) everything’s easily in reach. Unfortunately, those same things are juuust out of Haru’s reach, unless he wants to sacrifice his pride and do some little hops or give in and ask Makoto to get it. Instead of ever directly bringing attention to the issue (Makoto already struggles with organizing his stuff; he isn’t going to break the one storage system he found on his own that seems to be working) he just comes in one day with a step stool. Before Makoto can find a way to feel weird/bad about it, Haru just tells him that 1) the stool is staying here and 2) Makoto can help out by finding cool stickers/decals for it. Haru’s official step stool becomes one of Makoto’s secret favorite things about Tokyo (whether that’s because of the mascot/cat stickers or Haru using the stool for forehead kisses, he’ll never tell)
- One of the unexpected things Makoto struggles to get used to in Tokyo is the change of ambient noise in his home. He’s used to settling in for the night surrounded by the sounds of his parents moving through the house, the twins flipping around in their beds, the soft sounds of Iwatobi nighttime outside his window. In Tokyo there’s noise, the city never sleeping, but his apartment is almost… eerie, most nights. It doesn’t make sense at first, because he’s spent nights in Tokyo before for competitions, and his friends’ houses have almost always been quieter than his in comparison, once everyone gave up on their “all-nighter” sleepover ambitions and passed out. Maybe the biggest difference is that for once, it’s just him. He has to build a home by himself for the first time, and being alone at night makes the place feel almost too big, too hollow. He felt bad calling Haru late at night for those first few weeks adjusting, even told him that he could let it go to voicemail, but Haru would answer just about every time. Granted, he fell asleep on the line more than once and never said too much, but feeling like somebody else was there helped Makoto out a lot. Once Haru figured out the bigger reason behind Makoto’s late night calls, he looked into ambient noise CDs/playlists and made a small wind chime for Makoto to put outside his window. Makoto still calls Haru before bed sometimes, but less because he misses his home in Iwatobi as much as he misses his favorite person. Haru is still terrible about using his phone in general, but he’ll make an effort for this ritual.
- Along with Wii Sports and Mario Kart, the Tokyo guys have also staked their claims on the Just Dance leaderboards. It’s almost scary how good Sousuke has gotten at getting 3-4 stars while sitting down, and Kisumi always laughs at how both Asahi and Ikuya will try to mouth the words to the different songs while one-upping each other’s scores. Makoto and Haru like to watch most of the time, but they’re both experts at “Womanizer” specifically, for whatever reason. The irony of it is brought up more than once in the group chat.
They’re living their best lives in Tokyo and I love that for them okay 🥺
