Love Languages: Tank Headcanons!

Here's some headcanons of what I think the tank heroes in Overwatch would do to show their love for their partner (gender neutral). My asks are open and any/all opinions or suggestions are welcome!

Hana Song / D.Va: When Hana's with her partner, she likes to show them affection through words of affirmation. It makes her day so much brighter when she sees them writhe in themselves with embarrassment and love after being called pet names. She likes to call her partner names like 내 별 (Nae Byeol) and 천사 (Cheonsa) especially. When Hana isn't calling them pet names though, she's praising them and telling them how cute they are, or how adorable it is when they tell her about their interests, and things of that nature. She's easily flustered when she tries to show love in other ways, and would hope that her partner understands that she means every word she uses.

Akande Ogundimu / Doomfist: As the leader of Talon, he has to maintain an imagine in the public eye that he's a stone cold killer. Akande struggles with showing his love, and sometimes believes that his partner should already know they're loved simply for being with him. If he didn't love them, they wouldn't be around - that's his mindset at times. But, if Akande wants to and it's needed, he likes to show his love through physical touch. A hand on the knee while sitting together, or on the small of their back while they're cooking together, that sort of thing is rare but definitely important to Akande. He's not the type to say how he feels, but when he does show it, Akande's partner will definitely be able to tell he really means it and wants them to know he does. Don't get used to it though, moments where he holds his partner or shows them love through touch are few and far between.

Odessa "Dez" Stone / Junker Queen: When she adores someone, Odessa loves to show her love however she can. She'll show them off to the Junkertown citizens, her friends, and anyone else who's around. PDA isn't something Odessa strays from either; she want's them to know that they're hers and she has no one else in mind to fill her life like they do. However, when she's in private, she loves to show her love through acts of service. It's not something Odessa can easily do in public as she's the leader in Junkertown, but with her partner it's a different story. She wants her partner to feel as though they're just as important to her as she is to Junkertown. Odessa thrives when she can see her partner's face light up after finding out she handled the chores and they can sleep comfortably together. It's incredibly thoughtful of her, and it makes her day being able to help her partner and uplift them even more.

Maugaloa Malosi / Mauga: Maugaloa is the type of man who will show his partner off however he can; he likes to make them shy around people because he wont stop talking about how sexy they are, how important they are, etc. In reality though, his favourite way to show them love is through gift giving. With his work in Talon, he gets to travel the world but often times, his partner can't come with him. As such, he likes to bring back little trinkets that reminded him of them, and things that represent Maugaloa's partner in his own mind. Fridge magnets, anything heart related, even sea shells if he fought or worked near the coastline. It doesn't matter if it's expensive or cheap either; if it reminds him of his partner, it's already bought and being wrapped up, ready for when Maugaloa sees them again.

Ramattra: When Ramattra isn't busy or has the chance to see his partner, the first thing he'll always do is squeeze them to death in a big hug. He's a huge fan of physical touch, even if he receives little benefit from it. He understands the importance of contact in the human race, and with his partner, he wants them to feel loved too like anyone else does. Ramattra always makes an effort to show them love in other ways, but he loves physical touch the most and seeing his partner's face light up when they're kissed, hugged, tickled, rubbed, anything. It helps him feel normal too, and forget everything going on and all the responsibility on his shoulders.

Reinhardt Wilhelm / Reinhardt: Reinhardt is old fashioned; if his partner was home while he's busy working, he'd send them flowers and imagine the look on their face when they realise he sent flowers that represent how he's feeling with a heartfelt card that describes how much he misses them and wishes to be back home, in their warm embrace. He's a gentleman in the way he shows love, and is old school with gift giving being his favourite way of showing his appreciation for his partner. To Reinhardt, his partner deserves the world and he's prepared to give them everything he has to offer, both financially and physically. It's something he enjoys even if he cant see their face for himself and their reaction to his gifts. Rein's partner should prepare themselves for an entire room filled with gifts over the years from him, which vary in importance and meaning.

Mako Rutledge / Roadhog: Mako isn't one for words; he keeps things simple and he enjoys life that way. With his partner, the same would apply and he would enjoy quality time the most when showing his partner that he loves and appreciates them. Something as simple as watching TV together, cooking, cleaning, or even shopping is amplified for Mako when he's able to with his partner. It's as though they make everything sweeter in his eyes, and with spending time together he doesn't feel the pressure to show love in the standard way. He'll often times offer to run errands together, or spend time doing something mundane but important, just to be able to show Mako's thinking of them, and that he wants them around.

Siebren de Kuiper / Sigma: Again, I can imagine Siebren's old school in the way he shows love, and with his eclectic style, his partner should expect him to tell them he loves them through words of affirmation. He has a special way of making their heart crumble when Seibren uses space puns and terms to describe how much he loves them. Sometimes, he'll say things in Dutch to properly be able to describe how he feels about them in a language most close to his heart, as though doing so amplifies the meaning behind his words. In public, this isn't as common as PDA isn't something he's comfortable with. However, this doesn't apply to when he's alone with his partner and can have the freedom to express how he feels without judgement or punishment.

Aleksandra Zaryanova / Zarya: Aleksandra loves to show her love through communication; deep conversations mean a lot to her, regardless of if they agree or share the same opinion about things. She appreciates and loves to hear what her partner believes, and indulges in conversations about society, philosophy, psychology, and anything else that peaks their interest, with some physical touch mixed in. Aleksandra loves to sprinkle physical touch in whatever she does with her partner, as a small way of adding to the conversation and saying 'I'm listening and taking in what you're saying'. Having a partner that wants to talk with her about things that others would expect to be 'too intellectual' for someone like Aleksandra is important to her, and having these conversations is her way of saying she wants to understand them more.

I have several headcannons for the Overwatch Heroes, I’m going to share them

Jars of dirt from each dig site they’ve ever worked at, with a flag for the country it’s from and a sticker with some information about the dig site. When they’re hunting down relic thieves they collect some dirt from each place they go on their search and adds it into a singular jar with some barriers but in to separate the different dirt from the rest alongside the usual things they put on the jars

Mauga is trained in how to be a bartender. He learned back during his days as a Raider to do undercover work on their targets, either for assassinations or information gathering. He still makes plenty of drinks for Talon and he does hope to share a drink with Baptiste again at some point, either when one of them is on death’s door or as friends again so he keeps a small bottle on his person of Bap’s favorite drink just in case

Genji occasionally forgets to take his mask off when drinking or eating, not because he’s embarrassed about his face but because at times it feels like his mask is actually his face. Zenyatta has been trying to help him with this, with more difficulty than expected

Zenyatta actually had several jobs before the crisis happened, so many that not even Ramattra knows all of them. He uses this knowledge to mess with people a lot but it also makes him a jack of all trades so he helps out with a lot of things around Shambali with a lot of things

Before Zarya joined the military she had several flavors for protein shakes that she loved to have, however after she joined she has stuck with unflavored mixed into water so that it’s quick to make and take before and after her battles. She hates the lack of flavor so much that she intends to expand her pallet of flavors once she is done fighting so she can forget the unflavored

Dr Winston (the human) got Hammond into contact with an engineering friend on Earth in an effort to at least lessen the amount of time the hamster escaped a day. This friend didn’t know about the cruelty the Horizon Test Subjects faced and Hammond could see that. The friend helped Hammond develop the first version of his hamster to human translator be showing the blueprints of past translators and shared all sorts of ideas with him on things to make. Before he met the Junkers Hammond only liked this one human, and he hopes to meet her someday, if nothing but to at least tell her he’s okay. Until then he busies himself with crossing off ideas on the list they made together, and making sure each one works

Mei had friends she would talk to from other ecopoints, she hopes to get back in contact with them at some point and catch up but with the program having been shut down for a long time she hasn’t had much luck in that endeavor

Ok I showed my mum the Junker characters to see if it was just me who reacted the way I did to the Junkers and here are her thoughts;

She thought JQ was American, Junkrat was German (Australian was her second guess tho), and Roadhog just confused her.

She got the Mad Max inspiration instantly

Brainstorming random general Junkrat headcanons that i consider as an official canon at this point

I wrote this at 4 am cough

To add junkrats childhood dream was to play cricket professionally but he eventually changed his mind

Roadhog and junkrat are both autistic. Roadhogs special interests are pachi-mari and mechanics and junkrats special interests are bombs and mechanics. They both find common interest in mechanics and bonded even better because if it. They like working on improving their guns, vehicles, and other mechanical things together

I also like to think they have lacrosse and cricket hyperfixations

Winston and tracer drink tea and talk about plans together all the time because they are besties

Also they prefer to do everything together

Life weaver shipped junkrat and roadhog before they we’re together

Roadhog and life weaver also talk about nature together life weaver even sometimes joining zen and hogs conversations on peace

‘Home’ Headcanons - Tank Edition This is a continuation of the headcanons I made a while ago about what the supports would say home means to them, and what that would look like for them but this time with the tank heroes! My asks are open and any/all requests are welcome - enjoy <3

Akande Ogundimu / Doomfist: If you asked Akande where home was for him, or what he thought of when he hears the word home itself, he would tell you it doesn't yet exist. For him, in order to feel at home, he would need total power and domination. On the other hand, the idea of home is for the weak, in his eyes. Akande views the concept of having somewhere as a safe or comforting place as an acceptance of weakness, and he doesn't want to indulge on such pitiful endeavours. 

Hana Song / D.Va: Hana's home is with the MEKA squad back in Korea; she misses them and the work relationships she had before joining Overwatch. Sure, the connections she has now might be up to par or better than the ones she had whilst working with the MEKA squad, but there's something comforting about thinking back to that time when she was mainly concerned with protecting Korea as part of their first lines of defence. She misses the culture in Korea too, the spotlight of her celebrity status there, and misses the connections she had whilst working there. It's always going to be her home, even if things have changed since the last time she was there.

ORISA: Orisa's home is Numbani, it's all she's ever truly known and where she was created. She likes to imagine herself there, when she's away. She takes great pride in her country, often gloating about it to others when they try to speak ill of it. Numbani will always be important for her and, if she had it her way, she would die protecting it.

Odessa Stone / Junker Queen: Home for Odessa has been long gone since she was barred from Junkertown, maybe even before that. She misses the outback of Australia, before the riots and the Omnic Crisis. She misses being a young child, able to explore the streets of her home town without worrying about toxic gases or nuclear explosions going on nearby. She wishes sometimes, that things were different and she could return to that state in time. However, she's learned that without that happening, she wouldn't be the woman she is now, so Odessa's grown to move on and learn to love her new home. She values Junkertown for the experiences it gave her, but she'll never truly feel at peace or comfortable knowing how she was treated as a child by the king previously.

Maugaloa Malosi: For Maugaloa, his home is American Samoa - it's more than just a destination for him, and he'd tell you that if you asked him this question. Samoa, for Maugaloa, is important to him and makes him feel accepted, seen, loved and welcomed. The traditions, family connections, cultural values, etc. all are things he truly appreciates about his native country. On the other hand, he might tell you he feels most at home in the wrestling ring, and if he could have it his way he'd still be competing while working for Talon even with his genetic alterations. Being able to show off his physical prowess makes him feel unstoppable, and wrestling was where he was able to do this the most.

Ramattra: Ramattra would tell you point blank that Earth will never have a home for him. He knows that even with laws and regulations passed that would encourage humanity to open their own homes for Omnics to reside with them, there would still be prejudice, power imbalances, and a general feeling of discomfort knowing that humanity could switch at any second regarding their standing on omnic rights. Ramattra is willing to make a home for him and his people, though, even if he has to force humanity to give them one. No one deserves to feel like they aren't safe or comfortable anywhere, and Ramattra will use any means necessary to create a world where him and his people don't feel this way any longer.

Reinhardt Wilhelm: Reinhardt's home is with the crusaders, it's where he felt his most confident and most able in life. He misses his youth, and often looks back on the fonder memories he has of his time with the crusaders. It's important to him, and ever since his mentor, Balderich van Adler, passed away he hasn't been able to feel at home since. The closest he got was when first working with Ana, learning to let someone into his life again, spending nights dancing under the moonlight with her. Otherwise, he would tell you that he's too old to consider such nonsense now. 

Mako Rutledge / Roadhog: Similarly to Odessa. Mako would say his home was the outback before the omnic crisis. He's an indigenous Australian, and so he misses being able to visit places that have cultural significance to him without the after effects of the omnic crisis lingering over those places. It's not something he concerns himself with anymore, and it's something he's grown too stubborn to thing about. He likes to consider himself a nomad, having no specific place that ties him down anymore. It's something he thinks to cope with the fact that a lot of his cultural roots are gone, and all that's left is wasteland.

Siebren de Kuiper / Sigma: Siebren's home would definitely be in the stars, analysing their behaviours and watching as they move through space and time with admiration. Siebren has always had a fascination for space, and has always looked to the stars and galaxies for explanations that Earth itself cannot answer. He enjoys thinking about when he dies, that he'll be within the stars at last and fully comfortable to be himself. It's something he's happy to talk about, so long as something doesn't distract him in the process.

Winston: Winston's home is with Dr. Harold Winston on the moon when he was an infant. He misses Harold a lot, and wishes to have that father figure around still who could be proud of the work he's completing with Overwatch. It's something he looks back on with fondness, but he still considers Overwatch his home as well. Winston feels as though his purpose that Harold helped him realise and grow into is finally realised through Overwatch and the work that's being done on missions. It helps motivate him, and remind him of where he came from vs. where he is now.

Hammond / Wrecking Ball: Hammond's home is in the fighting ring, showing off his skills and his expertise in destroying other opponents. He finds the limelight incredibly fulfilling, and it helps motivate him and feel integrated into the world. He'll never admit this, claiming he doesn't know what home is or what humans consider home. Hammond certainly doesn't consider Lunar Colony his home, after what Winston did to him.

Aleksandra Zaryanova / Zarya: Aleksandra's home is Russia, and always will be. She loves the culture, the way her country fought so fiercly against the omnics during the crisis, and loves to tell people who've never visited the best places to go. Sure, she's not happy with the corruption in the government, and how her brute strength was manipulated far after the omnic crisis, but she still feels as though Russia is where her heart belongs, and she values the life lessons that her experiences there brought her. Like Orisa, she would happily die protecting her country, and that's something Aleksandra would always believe and feel.

Hello! This is my first time requesting so please bear with me 😭, but can we get a Roadhog headcanons. I don’t see a lot of him in these fictions..

I'd love to write him sm... he's such a cool character :D Here's some general thoughts that aren't entirely connected/in any order... just pure brainrot!

Yandere! Roadhog/Mako Rutledge Concept

Pairing: Romantic

Roadhog has been described to be a ruthless killer in the wastelands.

He doesn't say much and prefers his current title/name of Roadhog rather than Mako.

He is used to other people fearing him.

He even acts as a bodyguard to Junkrat, his partner in crime.

Despite this I feel he changes a bit when it comes to you.

He really does love you, after all.

He'd probably be the type to burn the world for you.

While he sees Junkrat as a friend he probably wouldn't let the smaller Junker touch you.

Junkrat may try to speak or playfully tease you, only for Roadhog to redirect you away.

He's a big man, if he has to protect you he is fully capable.

Being the one he adores has its perks as no one will dare to hurt you without possibly dying.

The cons are the exact same thing except with friends.

Roadhog would allow you to call him by his name Mako.

You're one of the few that can.

Roadhog would also be more affectionate than you think.

He would love holding you, especially when he lays down.

He likes to have you lay on top of him while he just holds you close.

He loves Pachimaris and would internally melt if you gave him one.

He may even allow you to touch his collection.

He thinks you're just as cute as them.

Roadhog would most likely keep you at his farm.

However, if this is during his crime spree with Junkrat, he'll drag you along.

Speaking of Junkrat, if Roadhog needed any traps to keep you where he wants you... he'll provide for his friend.

Roadhog would definitely kidnap you as he isn't sure how else to approach you in his obsession.

He'd watch you for awhile before deciding, like any treasure, he should take you.

Despite abduction he'd try to show he cares for you.

Even though he literally abducted you.

Roadhog would be the jealous type.

Except you can't tell what he's feeling.

He'll end up showing things by actions more than vocally or by facial expressions.

He'll do things like push you closer to him or hover around you.

Roadhog doesn't really care if you fight him.

He gets it... you're scared... but he can't have any other Junker take you from him.

Even Junkrat only gets limited visits, if any at all.

Don't expect many words from him.

Which I think makes him scarier.

Because think of it from your perspective....

This large silent man traps you in his farmhouse.

He says no words, just affectionately holding you and smothering you in plushies.

You're terrified.

Roadhog really does try to care for you and treat you like you're his greatest treasure.

The issue is he isn't caring enough to give you freedom.

He uses the excuse of things being too dangerous in the outback to reassure himself and you.

You could get sick... mugged... hurt... or even killed.

So really, he's just playing bodyguard for you, right?

He isn't used to romantic relationships so he appears distant.

Yet if you initiate he'll reciprocate quickly.

Roadhog would be possessive as he is the jealous type.

Don't be surprised if he came to you with some blood staining his clothes and skin.

He's most likely just preventing Junkers from coming near his farm, and by extension, you.

Roadhog would also be a fan of his darling being smaller than him.

He has a thing for your size.

Overall, Roadhog is a yandere who isn't afraid to take what he wants.

He sees his darling as a treasure he must keep all too himself... even if it requires violence to keep you as his.

He knows how to survive in the harsh dangers of the wastelands... if anything, him taking you in should be a favor in his eyes.

Junker Rewrite; General Lore and Environment

Ok so here are some general things I kept in mind when rewriting the environment and general lore. First thing is that though the rest of the world if fine in comparison, I still wanted the Junkers to feel isolated, specifically I wanted to give a reason why the Junkers didn't leave the wasteland and why no one outside helped with the aftermath of the explosion.

Secondly I wanted to change the lore in order to set Australia apart for the storylines given to London, Russia and Korea as I personally believe that they use those plot points a lot better. In all honestly the beginning part of the Junkers lore if fine and honestly very much represents how the Australian government treats these sorts of situations. The only thing I'd change is that a majority of Omnics were also not OK with being given the Omnium, for a bunch of reasons, the main ones being how isolated it made them, the trauma they have associated with it, and the fact this is a nuclear powered Omnium that is now been abandoned in Australian weather conditions. Basically imply that the Omnium blowing up was an inevitability and not something caused by either Omnics or humans.

Also when the Omnium blows up the radiation doesn't make the Omnics go crazy and ultra violent, please don't give the already prejudice group of people a genuine reason to be prejudice.

Also as a side note, specific characters will get their own post dedicated to them.

General Lore

Like I said the beginning lore stays the same except no one is happy with the Omnics being given the Omnium, the radiation doesn't make Omnics go insane, and the Omnuim was already a ticking time bomb before this whole event happened. Now let's get into the aftermath and Junkertowns founding.

After the explosion there were basically two sets of people, those who realized the gravity of the situation and put their differences aside to help each other survive this new wasteland, and those who put their pride over their own survival. Those who went off on their own died quickly due to the elements and the mutated animals that now inhabited the wasteland. Those who stayed together found leaders in Mason Howl, the Stone family, and a ravager named Grace. Howl along with Grace where in charge of defending the settlement against the elements and animals while the Stone family, a family of scientists and doctors treated and figured out a way to negate the negative effects of radiation on the settlement.

After the dust settled and the settlement had finally built a safe haven in the wreckage of the Omnium the long feud and prejudices boiled to the surface and the discussion on if Omnics should be allowed in the newly formed Junkertown started, the main reason against them being that they "wasted resources" and they "weren't affected by the elements". Lead by Howl the Omnics and their supporters where then kicked out of Junkertown, this including the Stone family. This group would then be dubbed "The Wastelanders"

While all this was happening several forces came together to try and help those affected by the Omnium exploding, including the then blossoming Junkers. The three most notable being Vishkar, Moira O’Deorain and Overwatch, most notably Angela Zeigler. Though they where able to help those outside the wasteland, the harsh contitions and mutations of the Wasteland proved too difficult to travers in order to help the Junkers, this did not deter O’Deorain though, as she furthered the mutation beyond the Wasteland. Creating a border of mutated bushland around the wasteland in order to protect those outside from the mutated wasteland, and to more specifically help those in the wasteland ride the radiation. Though at the beginning O’Deorain's work was not seen this way, it being viewed as her making the situation worse by bringing in more dangers.

However, the mutated plants and animals did serve a purpose, they absorbed the nuclear radiation from the surrounding area in order to grow, basically healing the environment despite the dangers it posed to humans. When the Wastelanders and Junkers discovered this area of bushland it was dubbed "No-Mans Land".

After they were banished from Junkertown the human Wastelanders started dying to the elements. Including the Stone family, when the Wastelanders finally adapted to their new environment a majority of the humans had died, including the entire Stone family with the exception of their middle child Odessa Stone. The Wastelanders ended up being one of the main groups to manage to travers outside the Wasteland back to civilization. Where they discovered they were both abandoned and branded as criminals by the Australian government and society. This revelation kickstarted Odessa Stone's motivation of reclaiming Junkertown, as that was the only home she would ever want to return to.

Eventually that dream became a reality, after many losses and a lot of painful work, Odessa Stone claimed the Junker thrown in the Reckoning, banished Howl like he did with her and the other Wastelanders, and started the healing process for the Junkers from the dictatorship of Howl. Thus being dubbed, The Junker Queen.

The first step being the implementation of new principles;

Howl Principles;

No omnics.

Pay your share.

Finders keepers.

Troublemakers will be exiled.

Junker Queen Principles;

Every trusted individual is welcomed, no matter the morals, no matter the origin

Freedom at all costs

The well being of Junkers comes first, personal grievances second

Settle your own scores.

There was also the explicit rule that any outsider, though welcomed, must have a Junker vouch for them to enter. Even then they would search an outsiders person to be sure they didn't have anything that could damage the city or community. This is because of Vishkar's continued interference with Junkertown, though on the surface it seems like they want to help, behind the scenes Vishkar are the main pushers of the narrative that the Junkers are just savage criminals. Ignoring the culture of art and engineering that has been born under Junker Queen's rule.

There have been many attempts by Vishkar to infiltrate Junkertown, one of which resulting in the second ever exile under Junker Queens rule, but all where unsuccessful. To this day those who have Vishkar affiliations are the only people banned from Junkertown.

Environment Lore

After the Omnium exploded the Australian Outback was rendered a wasteland, nearly impossible to travers alone and even harder to live in. The only thing that stopped the Junkers from dying was the interference of the Stone family in the center of Australia and Moira O’Deorain, both creating systems in order to filter out the radiation caused by the explosion. To this day both parties are heavily respected by Junkers.

The wasteland itself is also infested with mutated wildlife, both from Moira's experiments and from the radiation. Along with the increasingly harsh weather, it leaves traversing the wasteland along and/or with lack of experience a death sentence. Which doesn't even account for No-Mans Land.

The borders of the Wasteland are surrounded by mutated bushland, though they were made with the intention of filtering the radiation and healing the Outback, that doesn't make the area any less dangerous. Giant bugs, mutated mammals, and hostile flora are all extremely common here, one of the most commonly seen being a mutated Koala that Australians have given the name of Dropbear, what was once a joke amongst Australians made into a terrifying reality.

There is then Junkertown itself that has gone through tremendous change. Under Howl's rule, Junkertown was very industrial in appearance along with generally having a very hostile atmosphere with Howl's "everyone for themselves" mentality. Junkers were always so focused on meeting Howls taxes that there was never any time to give Junkertown any personality other then "Junk". The only decent looking areas where reserved for Howl himself and his select member of guards in order to keep them happy and loyal.

After Junker Queen took control Junkertown turned into an artistic and engineering paradise, both fields usually being lumped together by Junkers. There was also the introductions of power as the the access radiation was used as power along with the introduction of solar power by the surviving Solar farmers, that project being headed by Mako Rutledge, who had owned and run a Solar farm prior to the Crisis. This all culminated into Junkertown becoming a Utopia in the Wasteland, a place where everyone was just free to do what they liked without the worry of an overbearing governing force. This also lead to expansion and the city now known as Junk Springs (New Junk City cause again, why is that an American reference?)

I'm honestly open to feed back with this and again, character rewrites are going to be their own posts. This is also just the general history and explanation and not a full exploration of Junker society. It's mainly me trying to make Junkertown's history fit into what we know about Overwatch's world, along with changing the environment cause I really hate the direction the artists went with it.
