ANOTHER: can you expand on the thought Stacker wanted his kids away from the front lines? Because Jake was going to be a jaeger pilot, was already training with his co-pilot, which is further than mako went. Do you think Jake's story about Stacker saying he didn't deserve to be in a jaeger is in character? Cuz I always thought, seeing how he told Mako that *he* was the one at fault for putting her in a jaeger, it was an ooc thing to say but I'd love to hear how u interpret it?

I'll be honest, I Do Not Vibe with that part of Uprising. I agree with you that it seems out of character for Stacker, so I have a different idea for what went down, and why Jake left the PPDC. Pentecost may not have been eager for his kids to join the fighting, but they both really, really, really wanted to be Jaeger pilots. So he let them join the Academy. Their training went well, for the most part. They were a great team, and everybody was sure they'd be full Jaeger pilots in no time. And then came their first Drift. It went bad. Really bad. Mako chased the RABIT, Jake tried to pilot the Jaeger without her, and they both had to be pulled out of the Drift. After the incident, Mako tried even harder to prove herself, but Jake decided he never wanted to get in a Jaeger again and quit the PPDC<

Loved the opening scene in Pacific Rim: Maelstrom where we see Mako Mori practicing with her sword. The voiceover of Stacker Pentecost explaining that protecting people from danger isn't a one-and-done deal, but something that humanity has always had to do throughout history just... had me in tears.

"Don't worry, she won't hurt you." Mako eyed the Kaiju warily. It stared at her with big, glassy eyes, standing just behind Newt. It stuck out its weird, glowing tongue, which started curling through the air towards her. She tensed, half-reaching for some kind of weapon. "Hey, don't worry, it's okay." Newt said. "She's not gonna hurt you, she's just trying to figure you out." Mako stood still while the Kaiju waved its tongue in front of her face, very determinedly not making eye contact with it. She looked at Newt instead, at the blood dripping from his nose, at the unfocused look in his eyes. "It's alright. She's not going to hurt you, I promise. She's just... uncertain."

PACIFIC RIM AU? 👀

Oh, my beloved Pacific Rim AU...

It's pretty much the plot of Pacific Rim but set in Thedas with characters from Origins (and maybe the other games idk) in wardens (jaegers) battling archdemons (kaiju). Because I realised pretty early on I would never get around to writing it, not all the details are set, but in short:

Duncan = Stacker Pentecost Loghain and Anora = Herc and Chuck Hansen Rosslyn Cousland (of course) = Raleigh Becket, with Fergus being the brother she lost Alistair = Mako Mori Varric (?) = Hannibal Chao Merrill and Velanna = bickernig scientists

Various other wardens would be piloted by, say, the three Hawke siblings, Tabris and Zevran, maybe Leliana and Josephine. The templars basically took over running the cities on the edge of the Waking Sea when the Warden Program failed to stop the archdemons attacking everything, but pretty much everything is the same. The archdemons are coming out of the Amaranthine Ocean because of Bad Magic Juju and the summoning circle or whatever needs to be destroyed.

I'm not sure how technologically advanced society is in this AU, if it's like canon Thedas, or like our world with the serial numbers filed off, or if it's some mix between the two, where technological advancement was made possible through magic and enchantments, which would mean things didn't quite look identical but would be some fun worldbuilding. Luckily, I don't have to make a decision because alas it's going to just stay in my head forever.

Seven comfort movies

I was tagged by @vishcount and @ashenwren , thank you so much!!! Your lists were so good! I usually love watching new movies instead of revisiting ones I’ve seen already, but there are some I just know I’ll enjoy no matter how many times I watch them! xD Especially when I have some quiet time or during holidays, I like to go back to these movies! (Added gifs because... I love gifs ahah xD)

1. Lotr trilogy 

I lost count of how many times I watched these movies but I never feel like skipping a scene and I never get bored!! I also associat them with very warm memories about high school and even middle school, since that’s when I first read The Hobbit and went into Tolkien madness! xD 

2. The Lion King 

Oh dear, I know this movie by heart in Italian! It’s still my favorite Disney movie and I watch it from time to time because it has everything: the drama, amazing comedy moments, a wonderful soundtrack (Some months ago I found on Spotify the score demos, which are slightly different from the final music used in the movie but they’re incredible nonetheless) and songs... To this day, I still can’t watch Mufasa’s death... T_T Gif from my absolute favorite scene!!

3. Howl’s Moving Castle

Ahhhhhh this movie!!! It just warms my heart every time and when I really can’t decide on something to watch I know Howl’s Moving Castle is always a good choice! xD 

4. Amadeus

Not really a happy movie, quite the contrary, but it manages to move me to tears every single time! I saw this for the first time in middle school and I knew almost nothing about classical music: the scene where Mozart is dictating the Requiem to Salieri is absolute genius, hearing the single instruments coming together to create that music, it made me listen to any musical piece in a different way!

5. Dead Poets Society

Oh, this movie... I watched it for the first time in high school and some quotes from it just never left, I was just so obsessed with poetry back then, so you can imagine what this movie meant to me! The soundtrack is brilliant, and it has one of the most satisfying endings. Also, the Italian dub for it was absolutely excellent and I just feel a sort of affection and nostalgia whenever I hear it! 

6. Pacific Rim

I love Pacific Rim so much because it has the right balance between action and FEELS. I never get tired of watching it! Also Mako and Raileigh are just... <3 

7. Ice Age 

I usually struggle to find movies that make me laugh out loud, but this one has the power to have me in tears from laughing within the first two minutes xD And the sequels make me laugh a lot too, which is honestly incredible! When I want to have a good laugh, Ice Age never fails!! 

Honorable mentions to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Jumanji, almost any Star Wars movie (especially Rogue One!), Balto, Labyrinth and probably others I can’t think ok right now xD
