Was tagged by @novafire-is-thinking ! Sorry for taking a hot minute to do mine đ I also decided to do ten songs because I have
A lot
Of trouble
Narrowing it down to just five (hell even ten was hard)
ANYWAYS
All of these are taken from my playlist uhhhhhh
That
Which is like,,, every song that remotely scratched my brain the slightest bit. ANYWAYS THE CHOICES. I tried picking songs I havenât shared here before, with each being from a different artist, and each kinda having their own sound :} (Iâll also be adding why I like each one, what it makes me think of, what parts I like, etc)
Native Colossus - Shield of Wings Spotify|Youtube
HOOOOO BOY OKAY SO- this one makes me think of the lead up to a clash between gods, if not the actual battle itself. Iâm talking reality shredding, time shattering, shows of power. Like a battle between two creation gods. I picture one of them descending from the sky with an incomprehensible form, rings circling around it like clockwork, its presence stretching across the horizon. This one is the one thatâs defending with the other being an invading force thatâs already on the ground.
Maybe this is the brutal battle that resulted in the patch of irreparable dead space in my original work? An area of space time thatâs so badly shattered that nothing can stitch it back together. Itâs the only remnant of the Old Universe.
I just think this thing sounds badass 10/10 great song to have my eyes stare blankly at a wall to
Free - Mother Mother Spotify|Youtube
I just love the part in this song that goes:
âA bloody war, right behind my eyes. I come out right on the other side. So close the door, and shut the blinds. Iâll come out right on the other side.â
Thereâs something about that part that itches my brain SO GOOD. Like I can picture animating something to that SO VIVIDLY. AUGH. Just,, something about two characters going through absolute hell while staying by each otherâs side the entire time,,,
Strangers to Ourselves - Modest Mouse Spotify|Youtube
OKAY THIS ONE. Normally when you hear Modest Mouse, you think of songs like Float on, Dashboard, The Ground Walks With Time in a Box, or The Ocean Breathes Salty; which are all more energetic(?) songs with Dashboard and Ground Walks being VERY high energy. But Strangers to Ourselves is,,, not that. Itâs very lowkey and subdued and has a good atmospheric sound to it that I really like. The slow steady bass line done on what sounds like a cello in the background accompanied with the occasional guitar just makes for a really nice song that makes me think of winding down for the night.
Whenever I do plan on making a long form comic with chapters and the like, I want to do these âcredits outrosâ in between chapters that each use a different song that matches the chapter before it, with each one being somewhat animated. This is one of the top contenders for this one story I want to write/illustrate called Meridian. It would show a variety of locations at sunset- the countryside, the city skyline, the character bases all winding down for the night. Maybe showing various characters as they close up shop. Just,, all around a chill quiet vibe leaning towards the somber.
De Selby (part 2) - Hozier Spotify|Youtube
This one was a recent discovery for me and one that I REALLY like.
I specifically love the chorus parts that goes
âWant to be when you fall on me like night every time, and I want to be so far from sight and mind. I wanna kill the lights. I wanna run against the world thatâs turninâ, Iâd move so fast Iâd outpace the dawn. I wanna be gone. I wanna run so far, Iâd beat the morninâ. Before the dawn has come, Iâd block the sun, if you want it done.â
Thereâs something about it that makes my brain feel like,,, I dunno how to describe it,, like stars? Going by really fast as I fall backwards into the void but Iâm also not actually moving anywhere.
Also GREAT animation fodder methinks.
Oh no, he Said What? - Nothing but Thieves Spotify|Youtube
Canât be a Spit music list without at least one Nothing but Thieves song <3 anyways~
This is one of their more recent songs and itâs also one I think is REALLY fun to listen to because itâs got a sort of beat and melody to it that makes you feel like you could dance to it (I cannot dance but I still try) it also sounds like one that would be FUN to play live, especially from the vocals side of things. Iâd be lying if I said I didnât consider trying to cover it myself. Nobody wants to hear that and I donât have the proper gear to record my voice đ
The lyrics I like from this one are
âSo did you find that thing you're looking for? Does it make you feel alive? Wait, he said what? He'll start a war, tear down the planet for the hype. You know it always ends the same, honestyâs a losing game. It died a long, long time ago with your favorite god. He said what? Oh no, we have lost control. Have you seen the video? But for heavenâs sake donât ever let the, let the people know, oh no.â
Also GREAT animation fodder as well. I can see it EASILY being either 404 (my personal project) or fandom related. It just depends on whatâs rotting my brain in the moment I either listen to it or decide to actually animate it.
Iâm also really hoping to be able to see them live again in October, assuming Iâm able to pass my driving test next week :,D I kinda need a driverâs license to drive back home from campus in order to even go to the show,, (NBT is AMAZING live btw)
Shut Eye - Stealing Sheep Spotify|Youtube
THIS ONE. MAKES MY BRAIN FEEL TRIPPY. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HITS THE CHORUS. Iâd say itâs animation fodder but I honestly have no idea what Iâd animate other than it would be trippy to match the beat and just yeah I donât know how to describe this one. Iâm pretty sure I discovered it from someoneâs animation project years ago? I only rediscovered it recently where it hit me like a train. A GREAT song to disassociate to because of the way it makes my brain feel if that makes sense. The colors and movement my brain comes up with when listening to this one is very fun :)
Curses - The Crane Wives Spotify|Youtube
OUGH. THIS. Is a song I get SUPER INTO when singing along to it. GREAT animation fodder. Iâm not entirely sure if Iâd do 404 or fandom for this one but MAN it SLAPS.
The part I get super into is
âOh, ashes, ashes, dust to dust, the devil's after both of us. Ooh, lay my curses out to rest, make a mercy out of me. Oh, ashes, ashes, dust to dust, tell me I am good enough. Ooh, lay my curses out to rest, make a mercy out of-â
I know somewhere in my backlog of characters thatâs a hundred OCs long I GOT to have SOMEONE that fits this if I do go the 404 route. (Hell might even have a fandom OC that fits, somewhere in between all the TFP and PMD Oblivion lmao)
Blackout - Breathe Carolina Spotify|Youtube
AYO WE GOT A SONG I DISCOVERED ON FLIPNOTE BACK IN LIKE 2012. AND I THINK ITS A BOP.
Edgy? Hell yeah. Do I care? Absolutely not.
Since I DID discover it on Flipnote Hatena back in the day, I obviously think this is animation fodder. But specifically in the style of the old Flipnotes that I miss oh so dearly.
I think I found it on a Pokemon Flipnote..? So might keep it in the spirit of that by making it a PMD Oblivion AMV.
Exit Strategy of a Wrecking Ball - Diablo Swing Orchestra Spotify|Youtube
OKAY THIS ONE. THIS IS A SONG THAT I THINK HAS AN INCREDIBLE INSTRUMENTAL WITH VOCALS TO MATCH.
I think Iâd consider its vocals to sound almost haunting? It just sounds. SO. COOL.
The amount of different instruments I hear in it too is really cool too?? Like I can hear brass and classical strings during the breakdown of the chorus and it just leads to SUCH A BADASS SOUND. Like you have the heavy rock sound with the guitars and drums, but then thereâs horns and strings as well?? Itâs such a unique sound. Tbh Diablo Swing Orchestra as a whole has a very unique sound from what Iâve heard.
My brain also gives me fun visuals when listening to it. Lots of spiraling color when the chorus happens.
Hold on - Belle Sisosky Spotify|Youtube
Tumblr keeps refusing to save this post for whatever reason >:( Itâs too powerful. Had to switch to desktop to even finish editing it. đ
ANYWAYS. THIS SONG. SOUNDS SO COOL. It gives me a HUGE cyberpunk sort of vibe, and Iâm honestly just a huge sucker for EDM music that has the low chanting in the background because I think it has such a cool sounding effect. (ESPECIALLY Mongolian throat singing) Also whatâs really neat about this song (and pretty much all of her music) is that it uses a LOT of instruments you basically never hear in mainstream music, ESPECIALLY in pop. Some of the instruments include the Tapiâ, the Hulusi flute, the Guzheng, the Angklung, the Sabe, and the pratuokng.Â

fandom masterlist(s) ; here
character(s) ; poppy partridge
outline ; âHope youâre having a great day :D
can i request poppy or barnaby romantic hcs?
feel free to decline! take care <3â
warning(s) ; none, just fluff!
memorises the recipes to all of your favourite meals and desserts until she can make them entirely independently â but she also made a personalised recipe book for you if you ever wanted to try
gives the most wonderful hugs and is always happy to sit down and cuddle with you after a long day
calls you âhoneyâ or âsweetheartâ mostly
doesnât really kiss you so much as she bonks her forehead against yours lovingly (she doesnât want to risk hurting you⊠having a beak and all)
you have matching aprons and oven mitts â she even designated you as her assistant chef, even if your assisting is limited to things like fetching pots and cleaning up (depending on your skill in the kitchen)
date nights usually consist of making good food and then eating it until youâre ready to pop â but the occasional stroll about the neighbourhood or co-reading session also makes an appearance
she even asks howdy to order cookbooks and recipe collections from abroad so the two of you can âtaste the worldâ on date nights
she also keeps note of any spices or other ingredients sheâll need imported so she can pass them on to howdy
the two of you are basically the neighbourhoodâs bonus parents and the others tend to come to you looking for advice from their extra-mum and extra-(preferred title)
this running joke has resulted in the two of you getting matching mugs â hand painted by your neighbours (all of them, based on how eclectic their decorations are) â with â#1 bonus mum/dad/parentâ written on them
poppyâs quite substantial in size so your sleep arrangement usually consists of her curling up comfortably on the bed and you sleeping on her body (sheâs very soft!)
she also knits you things like scarves and hats and mittens because she worries about your featherless body getting too cold
she has the flowers you have her on your first date pressed and preserved in a picture frame in the living room
sheâs very sentimental (see above) and also keeps every single photo you take and letter you write
she has impeccable handwriting and usually writes any joint-cards for your neighbours (it didnât start out that way, but you both liked the aesthetic of her writing so it just kinda⊠happened!)
she has a habit of saying things remind her of you rather than saying that she loves them
like if she samples a dish and itâs the most hearty, delicious thing sheâs tasted â you come to mind and sheâll save you a serving or two
flowers in bloom and sunrises/sunsets are also perfect candidates for this comparison
so are sugary/sweet desserts and perfectly painted pictures
e.g. sheâll say to wally that his latest painting is âvery (name)!â and he knows that she loves how it looks
very unintentionally romantic â but you and the neighbours find it adorable
if you wear your hair in a specific style (be it protective, like braids, or aesthetic like a beehive), sheâll learn how to do it so she can help you out â sheâs more dextrous with her wings than many people would assume
she loves scented candles â specifically ones that smell like food items like vanilla or gingerbread â and she has like so many
she doesnât even light them she just keeps them around to open and smell â and if you add to her collection on anniversaries or birthdays then sheâll be so very thrilled

Fruity Four Advent Day 5 - I Want to Grow Old With You
Fruity Four Advent Calendar day 5 - In the future, the holidays of â22. Just a short little ficlet today. Barely a thing. I was initially going to write this an AU where Steve avoids an office Christmas party and Eddie works tech support and has to fix his computer, with very heavy, very excessive flirting. After yesterdayâs beast of a story, though, I needed something a little shorter, a little sweeter, a little easier (if you need clarification on any of the terms or language, send an ask and Iâll add them). So here we are. Chanukah 2022/5783
 -------------------------------------------------------
Eddie pulled into the driveway, slowly, avoiding the ice patch he still hadn't bothered to put litter on. His house was mostly dark, a soft glow coming from the kitchen in the back but otherwise devoid of the multicolored light every other house seemed to have.
He cracked his back as he got out of the car and grabbed the two bags of Chinese food. It was Christmas. It was their annual tradition, a tradition shared by Jews the whole country over. Theyâd been to the movies at lunch. They had to have Chinese food at dinner.
It was also the last night of Chanukah. He could smell the oil from outside. Steve was making latkes. He wasnât sure how well that was going to match with lo mein and fried rice but oh well. If Steve wanted latkes, they would have latkes. Especially if he was the one to make them.
Eddie kicked his boots off in the mudroom and hung up his coat. His gloves and scarf were dropped haphazardly by the washing machine. He left the bags of food on the dining room table and made his way into the hot kitchen.
"I like when Chanukah falls during Christmas break. It's the only time I can do stuff like this before sunset." Steve said, slapping his hand away from the draining tray. There was already a huge pile of latkes, more than the two of them should ever eat in one sitting.
"You could retire." Eddie wrapped his arms around Steve's waist, careful of the hot stove, and rested his chin on his shoulder.
"I'm only 55. I can't afford it yet." Steve dropped the last little latkes into the pan, slowly, so Eddie could move with him and not have to let go.
"You've got your inheritance just sitting there, sweetheart. We could live off my salary plus that." He felt Steve frown, felt his shoulders tense and his back go rigid.
"I'm not living off my father's money ever again, not if I can help it. I can teach for another five or ten years." Eddie didn't push it. He knew better.
âBesides,â Steve continued, âyour book sales are good enough. You could retire and just be an author.â Eddie squeezed Steveâs belly in mock shock.
âAnd abandon my little lost sheepies in their time of need? We havenât even cast the spring musical yet! I could never.â Steve chuckled as he flipped the latkes. Theyâd had this conversation so many times. They would probably continue to have it every year as teaching got more and more difficult.Â
He dropped a gentle kiss to Steve's neck and pulled away. He could at least plate the food and get the chanukiahs ready.Â
He was placing the last of the candles in his own, having gotten Steve set up first, when Steve came in with the plate of latkes. They didnât usually light in the dining room. There was a table in the living room window, the big picture one facing the street, set up specifically for the purpose of lighting the chanukiahs every year. But they didnât use it this year. They didnât feel like they could. Things were getting pretty bad again, worse than he could remember in a long time, and it just wasnât safe. He wasnât going to hide his Jewishness, but he wasnât going to flaunt it either.Â
Eddie lit the match and then each shamash. They lit the candles and sang the blessings together. Steveâs singing voice had surprised him, early on, when Steve was still learning how to be Jewish. Theyâd been together for years at that point but heâd never heard it, never even caught Steve so much as singing in the shower or along with the radio. But he had a good voice, a strong voice, and Eddie was able to harmonize with it easily. He loved to hear it now.
âHappy Chanukah, Love.â Steve raised his chopsticks to Eddie. Eddie raised his back in return.
âChag sameach, Ahuvi.â
Heâd spent thirty five years of holidays with the love of his life. He could only hope to have thirty five more.

Hi! I know I left a comment on my reblog, but I felt the need to send something a little more heartfelt. I'm going to try to be normal about this lol
That picture you drew was the first thing I saw this morning, and it has been sitting on one of my monitors ever since, just so I can glance at it any time I wantâwhich quite honestly has been incredibly frequent.
It might seem like I'm a little too excited about this, but it's a huge deal to me. Before I started putting fics out (just south of a year ago now) I hadn't written anything in nearly a decade, so I didn't really have any expectations for what I put out. Of course, I thought about how cool it'd be if someone drew something directly inspired by something I wrote, but I always considered that a kind of a lofty thing? Would be nice if it happened, but I wasn't expecting it. And if it did happen, it'd probably happen much later on when I'm a little better at writing.
All of that to say this is the first time I've inspired anyone to make art from my material. That means so much to me and I am unbelievably grateful to you for that. Also, WOW, it's from someone who has also drawn one of my absolute most favorite SciSet pics ever too?? I adore the way you draw Sunset, so when I saw this was from you I actually gasped so loud my wife heard me from the other room lol.
I mentioned this briefly in my reblog, but I really love the way this picture is composed. When I write scenes, they tend to play out in my mind in full motion with great detail, so what I envision can be incredibly specific, yet I really feel like you managed to capture details I hadn't really put words to. The color scheme in particularâlots of blues and purples, but with just the right amount of saturation to match the pink. Visual arts are not my forte, so I apologize if that doesn't make the most sense.
Lastly, I would like to ask just a couple things:
Would you be alright with me posting a blog about this on fimfic? This might seem like kind of a weird question, but I always like to make sure I clear this kind of thing with someone first. Naturally your username and links to everything would be prominently featured.
May I put this in the author's note of Chapter 8(b)? Just like before, your username and links will be prominently featured alongside it (also, if you'd like to send me a watermarked version, I'd be alright with putting that up too). I just really love this picture and would love it to be the way people visualize that part of the chapter, but I want to make sure that's alright with you first, and I also want to make sure you get the credit you deserve.
Anyway, I won't ramble any longer than necessary. Sorry for throwing a book in your inbox, but thank you for the picture, and for ensuring that no matter what else happens today, I have something to be happy about đ„°
hi!!
we've actually been mutuals for a little while (you reblogged something of mine, and i liked your taste in horse content) but back in april by complete coincidence i stumbled across your fimfic account as well and kind of fell in love with your work. the way you write sunset, your inner voice for her, speaks to me on an insane level to the point where it's informed some of my personal projects (ocs) a bit. i also really enjoyed seeing how rapidly and drastically your writing had improved over the works you had up at the time-- it made me really excited to see what you would do in the future! i even made a new account and started using the site again just so i could keep up :3 if nothing else, you've touched this creature's heart very deeply
like i said in the original tags, i've been meaning to make fanart of this scene for MONTHS and finally releasing those brainworms felt a bit like an exorcism, lol. i'm so happy i hit the mark and brought you as much joy as you've brought me !!!!
to answer your questions!:
sure!! it is fanart For You after all
same as above, go for it :3 (it is actually watermarked already! i prefer making it difficult to see so it's not distracting. take a closer look at sunset's elbow)
silly bonus trivia about the drawing: i needed a visual reference to help me with the poses, and the best ref i found just so happened to be a picture with obama in it. it's not my fault they look so tender

This is a topic Iâm super passionate about! There is a very deep rabbit hole you can go down about all the reasons why, but you can get like 80% of the important stuff from a few facts about how cameras compare to the human eye, and you can easily correct all of them after the fact if you plan around them when taking the picture. Nearly every serious photographer does extensive post processing of their images because this problem is not specific to your phone.
Problem 1 is that the human eye is very good at seeing bright light and darkness at the same time. This is called âdynamic rangeâ and even incredibly expensive cameras canât match our eyes. This is one reason why sunset and sunrise pictures never look as good on your camera - either you can see the sun but the ground is too dark, or you can see the ground but the sky is so bright you canât see the color in the sky.
Thatâs hurting your image here because the camera adjusted its brightness for the very bright spot on the right side of the sky, causing the rest of the image to look darker and less vibrant.
Compared to how our eyes see the scene, the road and trees are too dark and the sky is too bright. The darkness of the lower part of the image is robbing the scene of the beauty and dreaminess of the light, and the brightness of the sky is removing all the nice color and contrast.
Problem 2 is another difference in hardware. The normal 1x zoom on a phone camera is a little more zoomed out than the human eye. This has all kinds of fascinating effects on the pictures they take, but whatâs relevant here is that youâve got part of your dash and the rear view mirror in the shot, and more of the shot is taken up by the road, when the trees are the more interesting part. Cropping the image a little as you did in your overpaint would correct that part.
Anyway I could infodump super hard about how to turn the photograph into the painting. That specific problem is at the core of why I love photography and digital post processing: I want to be able to show people what I felt, not what the camera saw.
Itâs disappointing that cameras canât do this themselves yet, but the crazy thing is theyâre already doing a huge amount of computational post-processing on their own using hundreds of millions of dollars worth of machine learning and other proprietary algorithms. When you pick up a professional grade full frame camera and take a shot like this, it looks MUCH worse than that shot from your phone. The cost of the camera pays for the fact that it saves much more information about the scene so that the photographer can make your image look like your painting. If people are interested I could do a step by step walkthrough of how I personally would handle processing this shot.
You know that thing where you see a gorgeous view (left) and try to take a picture of it, but your phone camera is a joyless fucking nihilist who refuses to see the beauty in anything and only sees this (right)

WhatsApp DP: Expressing Yourself in a Single Image
WhatsApp DP: Expressing Yourself in a Single Image
WhatsApp, as one of the world's most popular messaging apps, connects millions daily through text, calls, and multimedia. A central feature on WhatsApp is the "Display Picture" or "DP," a small image representing you in a sea of contacts. This DP is more than just a pictureâit's a personal expression, conveying moods, beliefs, humor, or personal milestones. Letâs explore how the whatsapp dp has become a creative outlet and how to choose a meaningful one for different occasions.
Why Your WhatsApp DP Matters
Your DP is often the first impression you make in someone's chat list. It tells a story and may influence how others perceive you. Whether itâs a professional headshot, a scenic travel shot, a favorite quote, or even a meme, your DP becomes a quick insight into your personality and current vibe. Here are some reasons why people choose specific DPs:
Self-Expression: Many use their DP to project their personality, hobbies, or mood. A person who loves traveling might often display images of landscapes, while a sports enthusiast might feature their favorite team's logo.
Personal Milestones: A new DP might showcase a graduation, wedding, vacation, or family event, reflecting moments of joy and pride.
Inspirational Quotes: For some, an inspiring quote as a DP can be a daily reminder of positivity and motivation.
Humor and Fun: Many opt for humorous images or memes, making their DP a way to share a laugh with friends.
Current Mood: From a reflective sunset to a high-energy party shot, DPs often reflect the userâs current state of mind.
Types of Popular WhatsApp DPs and Their Meanings
Selecting a DP can be challenging, given the range of options. Hereâs a look at some popular categories:
1. Solo Shots
A solo shot or selfie is one of the most common DP choices. Itâs simple and straightforward, putting the focus squarely on you. Such images are great for showcasing your personality through facial expressions, clothing, and background.
2. Couple DPs
For those in relationships, couple DPs are a popular choice. These pictures often capture sweet or candid moments between two people, symbolizing their bond. Itâs a way of saying, "Weâre in this together."
3. Family and Group Photos
A DP featuring family or friends reflects someone who values relationships and community. Whether it's a family gathering or a casual hangout with friends, these images show that the person cherishes togetherness.
4. Pet Pictures
Many people choose to feature their pets on their WhatsApp DP. Pets are beloved family members, and a pet photo can bring warmth and cuteness to your DP, whether itâs a cat, dog, bird, or other furry friend.
5. Nature and Travel Images
For some, a DP showcasing a scenic location, mountain, beach, or sunset captures their love for adventure and exploration. These images evoke peace, wanderlust, and appreciation for the natural world.
6. Quote-Based DPs
Inspirational or motivational quotes are common DPs, particularly for those going through a personal transformation or period of self-reflection. From famous sayings to personalized mantras, these images offer insights into what motivates or soothes the user.
7. Meme and Cartoon DPs
Memes and cartoons inject humor into WhatsApp. A funny DP can show someoneâs playful side or convey that theyâre lighthearted. Popular memes as DPs also reflect a connection with current trends.
8. Seasonal and Festive DPs
During holidays, people update their DPs to reflect the season. Whether itâs Christmas, New Year, Diwali, or Halloween, festive DPs add a personal touch and are great for sharing the spirit of celebration.
How to Choose the Perfect WhatsApp DP
While your DP can be anything you want it to be, here are a few tips to help you select one that feels true to you:
1. Reflect on Your Mood
Pick a DP that matches your current mood or energy. If youâre in a good place, a bright and cheerful photo can mirror that positivity. On the other hand, a serene nature image might suit you if youâre feeling introspective.
2. Consider Your Audience
Sometimes, your DP will be seen by family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. If youâre mindful of professional contacts on WhatsApp, you might choose something neutral or subtle.
3. Pick High-Quality Images
Since the DP is often viewed in a small circle, a clear and high-quality image is best. Avoid blurry or pixelated images to maintain a polished look.
4. Rotate Occasionally
Changing your DP periodically can be refreshing, both for you and your contacts. This can also reflect the latest events or milestones in your life.
How to Create a Unique WhatsApp DP
Creating a unique DP allows you to stand out. Here are some ideas for crafting a DP thatâs both original and meaningful:
1. Edit for Effects
Simple photo-editing apps can enhance your DPâs colors, add filters, or adjust lighting to make it more visually appealing. For a soft look, add a vintage filter, or for a vibrant feel, play with saturation.
2. Personalized Quote
Try creating a unique DP with your own favorite quote or mantra. Using online tools, you can design a graphic with different fonts, colors, and backgrounds for a personal touch.
3. Collage of Memories
A small collage of multiple images can encapsulate memories or people you cherish. Choose pictures that highlight different moments, like a family trip or a recent event.
4. Artistic Touches
Some people prefer a DP that showcases their artwork or creative interests. This could be anything from a painting you made to a digital design. Itâs a great way to share a bit of your talent.
The Cultural Influence of WhatsApp DPs
WhatsApp has evolved from a simple messaging app into a digital space for community and culture. As the app gained popularity across the globe, DPs became a subtle yet effective way of engaging in self-expression across different cultures and age groups.
For example, in some regions, family-oriented DPs are the norm, symbolizing the importance of familial bonds. In other cultures, a more individualistic approach is common, with solo shots or artistic images as a way of showcasing one's personality. Each culture brings its unique flavor to the platform, and DPs reflect these diverse values and aesthetics.
Privacy and WhatsApp DPs
With the growing awareness of digital privacy, WhatsApp offers controls for who can see your DP. Under âSettingsâ > âAccountâ > âPrivacy,â you can limit who views your DP to âEveryone,â âMy Contacts,â or âNobody.â These options are crucial, especially if your DP includes personal information or images.
Many people prefer to set their DP visibility to âMy Contactsâ to ensure only known individuals can view it. Itâs also wise to avoid using images that disclose sensitive information or location details to protect personal privacy.
Final Thoughts: Making the Most of Your WhatsApp DP
A whatsapp dp is a form of digital storytelling. Itâs a small but powerful way to express who you are, celebrate special moments, and share a glimpse of your life with others. While choosing a DP might seem trivial, itâs an opportunity to share something meaningful or fun with the people in your circle.
Whether you prefer to keep it simple, go for a dramatic edit, or switch it up regularly, your DP is a reflection of you.

Crafting Unique POV Captions for Your Travel Adventures(50+)
Struggling to find the perfect POV captions for your travel adventures? Discover tips and examples to capture every moment with flair and creativity. Traveling is more than just visiting new places; itâs about experiencing the world from unique perspectives and sharing those moments with others. One of the most powerful ways to convey these experiences is through Point of View (POV) captions on social media like Instagram and TikTok. A well-crafted POV caption can make your audience feel like they're right there with you, seeing the world through your eyes. In this guide, weâll explore how to write engaging and relatable POV captions that capture the essence of your travel adventures, focusing on different perspectives such as "from above," "from behind," and "through my eyes."
The Power of Perspective in Storytelling
Before diving into specific TikTok and Instagram POV styles, itâs important to understand why perspective matters. The angle from which you choose to tell your story shapes how your audience connects with your experience. A well-chosen Instagram travel POV can transform a simple photo into a narrative, drawing viewers into the moment and allowing them to experience the journey with you.
"From Above": A Birdâs-Eye View of the World
Capturing moments from above offers a unique and often breathtaking perspective. Whether youâre overlooking a bustling cityscape from a rooftop or capturing the serene beauty of a coastline from a drone, the "from above" perspective can provide a grand overview that highlights the scale and scope of your travels.
Caption Tips: - Set the Scene: Describe what youâre seeing from above in vivid detail. âThe city below, a patchwork of lights and shadows, tells a thousand stories in every corner.â - Highlight Scale: Emphasize the magnitude or vastness of what youâre seeing. âFrom up here, the ocean feels infinite, blending into the sky at the horizon.â - Invite Reflection: Encourage your audience to think about the view from a different angle. âLooking down on the world makes you realize how small we all are in the grand scheme of things.â
"From Behind": Capturing the Journey, Not Just the Destination
The "from behind" POV is perfect for showcasing the journey itself. This perspective is great for hiking trails, exploring city streets, or walking down a secluded beach. Itâs a way to bring the viewer along with you, highlighting the path youâre taking and the adventure that lies ahead.
Caption Tips: - Create a Sense of Movement: Use words that evoke the feeling of moving forward. âStep by step, the world unfolds before me, one path leading to another.â - Tell a Story: Whatâs happening in the moment? What are you thinking or feeling? âThe winding road ahead is uncertain, but thatâs where the magic happens.â - Engage the Senses: Describe the sights, sounds, and even smells that accompany your journey. âThe scent of pine fills the air as I follow the trail deeper into the forest.â
"Through My Eyes": Bringing Your Audience Into the Moment
The "through my eyes" POV is the most personal of all perspectives. Itâs about sharing what you see directly from your own viewpoint, allowing your audience to step into your shoes. This can be a powerful way to create an intimate connection with your followers, making them feel as though theyâre experiencing the moment right alongside you.
Caption Tips: - Be Descriptive: Paint a picture with your words. âThrough my eyes, the sunset is a blaze of color, each hue more vibrant than the last.â - Express Emotion: Share how the scene makes you feel. âIn this moment, everything else fades away, and all that matters is the beauty before me.â - Involve the Audience: Ask questions or prompt your followers to share their own perspectives. âWhat do you see when you close your eyes and imagine the perfect sunset?â
Blending Perspectives for a Richer Narrative
Donât feel limited to just one POV styleâmix and match perspectives to create a richer, more dynamic narrative. For example, you might start with a "from above" shot to set the scene, then switch to a "from behind" photo to show your journey through that landscape, and finally, end with a "through my eyes" shot to capture a special moment up close.
Caption Tips: - Transition Smoothly: Use your captions to guide your audience through the shift in perspective. âFrom the mountaintop, the valley below is a patchwork of green and gold. As I descend, the trail weaves through fields of wildflowers, each step bringing me closer to the hidden lake that shimmers in the distance.â - Create a Visual Journey: Use your Instagram photo captions to help your audience visualize the entire experience from start to finish. âIt all started with a birdâs-eye view of the coast, but the real adventure was winding through the narrow streets, each turn revealing a new surprise. Finally, I stood at the edge of the cliff, the endless blue stretching out before me.â
Making Your Instagram POV Captions Relatable
Finally, remember that the most effective Instagram travel captions are those that your audience can relate to. Even if they havenât been to the exact location youâre describing, they can connect with the emotions, sensations, and travel stories youâre sharing. Use your captions to not only document your travels but to evoke memories, inspire dreams, and create a shared experience.
Caption Tips: - Use Universal Themes: Focus on emotions and experiences that many people share, like wonder, excitement, peace, or adventure. âThereâs a certain magic in watching the sun dip below the horizon, a moment where time seems to stand still.â - Incorporate Quotes: Sometimes, a well-chosen quote can perfectly complement your Instagram POV caption. âAs Thoreau said, âNot until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.â This journey has taught me just that.â - Encourage Interaction: Invite your audience to share their own experiences or thoughts. âWhereâs the most breathtaking place youâve ever seen from above? Share your stories with me!â
Defining Travel Destination Narratives Beyond Catchy POV Instagram Captions
Defining a respectful, honest, and meaningful travel destination narrative involves more than just crafting catchy POV captions for Instagram. To truly capture the essence of a place and share it authentically, follow these key guidelines and steps:
1. Research and Respect Local Cultures Before you even start documenting your travel experience, invest time in understanding the local culture, customs, and history of your destination. Respect for the people and traditions of the place youâre visiting is crucial. This means avoiding stereotypes and ensuring that your content does not inadvertently exploit or misrepresent the local community. Engage with local perspectives and learn about their values and sensitivities. 2. Be Authentic and Honest Honesty is the cornerstone of a meaningful travel narrative. Share both the highlights and the challenges of your journey. Avoid exaggerating or romanticizing experiences. Instead, focus on genuine observations and interactions. For example, if you visit a popular tourist spot, acknowledge both its appeal and any issues like overcrowding or environmental impact. Authenticity in travel storytelling resonates more deeply with your audience and fosters a more credible and relatable narrative. 3. Highlight Local Voices Incorporate perspectives from local residents and businesses into your narrative. This can be done through interviews, quotes, or featuring local guides and artisans. Highlighting their stories not only adds depth to your narrative but also supports and honors their contributions. Ensure that these voices are represented respectfully and accurately. 4. Focus on Meaningful Experiences Go beyond surface-level observations and delve into experiences that offer deeper insights into the destination. Share stories about the people you meet, the cultural practices you observe, and the personal growth you experience. Instead of just showcasing picturesque landscapes, discuss what those landscapes mean to the local community or how they fit into the broader context of the regionâs history and culture. 5. Consider Ethical Implications Reflect on the ethical implications of your travel content. Avoid contributing to over-tourism or environmental harm. For example, if youâre showcasing natural wonders, also mention the importance of conservation and responsible behavior. Your narrative should encourage sustainable and respectful travel practices. 6. Provide Context and Education Offer context to help your audience understand the significance of what youâre sharing. Provide historical, cultural, or social background to enrich the viewerâs experience. For instance, instead of just posting a photo of a historic site, explain its historical importance and its role in the community. In conclusion, a respectful, honest, and meaningful narrative transcends catchy travel slogans and captions. It requires thoughtful engagement with the destination, authenticity in storytelling, and a commitment to ethical and educational content. By following these guidelines, you can create narratives that not only captivate your audience but also honor and respect the places you visit. A Special Collab... (No pictures in these articles...)
On Youtube thereâs a series called Galaxy Grudge Match. It's a debate where two people from opposing sides make an argument about why their character would win this specific scenario. I wanna do that with Cozy Glow. So I am collabing with MKF4 who will be defending Cozy Glow and try to explain why she doesnât deserve the punishment she got. Next week, Iâll have my thoughts on why she does. After that, Iâll have a Google Form to fill out if you want to put in your own two cents into this. So take it over MKF4.
*************
There does exist a handful of options that some fans might utilize to argue that Cozy Glow did not deserve the final fate she was delivered by Celestia, Luna, and Discord in My Little Ponyâs Season 9 finale. Generally, the most obvious one is that she is just a child. To be fair, we can probably assume for the sake of argument that this case is legitimate, and Cozy Glow herself does state she is a child in Season 9âs premiere. Assuming she is being honest here, letâs look into this topic from that perspective.
According to United States law, children under the age of fifteen cannot be sentenced with capital punishment regardless of the crime. Should we be following real world law in the United States at least, Cozy is automatically off the hook from certain penalties for her age alone. Some feel that such a factor should also be taken into account into a place like Equestria, where things like forgiveness and kindness already tend to be the norm anyway. Why shouldnât we give such treatment to a pony who is quite literally a child? That said, Equestria is a world of fantasy and being turned to stone technically is not the same punishment, so we cannot automatically use this alone as a solid block. Using real world law and applying it to a fantasy world might not sit well with everyone, so it would be best to also apply some other things. Letâs look at some other factors as well.
Some might also argue that perhaps Cozy Glow was not entirely aware of the damage she was unleashing. Cozy Glow never actually saw the impacts of the terrors that would come forth if she managed to successfully cast magic away from Equestria, with Starlight Glimmer going with it. Some could also argue that as a child, she did not fully grasp the extent of damage the Windigos could unleash upon Equestria, even if she had heard the legends associated with Hearthâs Warming Eve. As a child, she might not fully process the true nature of her crimes, and thus need a chance to learn from those mistakes rather than be turned into a statue. She had a chance to learn about friendship, sure, but did she ever really get a chance to see the full extent of how far her deeds could extend?
Her lack of background is also a source of contention within the debate. Amongst the variety of villains and reformed antagonists, Cozy Glow stands out uniquely as one of the few with very little information on her past. Characters like Tirek, Chrysalis, Sunset Shimmer, Discord, or Princess Luna all had plenty of story and lore available for us to know why exactly they went down the dark paths they selected, and in the case of reformed villains, why they were able to find their way onto a more righteous road in the future. But Cozy Glow doesnât really have any of that available to us. This does lead to some arguing that perhaps she was a victim of a dark and miserable background, such as abusive parents or vile manipulations that led to her snapping and becoming the villain she was against Twilight Sparkle. Perhaps she was prone to bullying and sought power to strike back against such things, or maybe she was raised by twisted parents and led onto such a life. Weâll never really know, and some might actually say that Cozyâs lack of a backstory is honestly quite intriguing and invites fun speculation to be had. But this lack of knowledge about what caused her to be like this, if anything, can cause some to have pause on her petrified present at the hooves of Equestriaâs royals.
Speaking of reformed villains, some may point to these characters as evidence for their arguments that Cozy Glow should have been given another chance. Characters like Starlight Glimmer or Tempest Shadow started out similarly despising friendship or twisting it to their own ends, and look how they turned out! Tempest Shadow came around and has helped Equestria numerous times in the comics, and Starlight Glimmer is just outright one of the most prominent heroes throughout Friendship is Magic as a whole. If ponies as vile as they could ultimately come around and become great heroes, couldnât someone like Cozy Glow possibly stand a chance as well if given a little time and love like they were? Or an opportunity to see how important friendship truly was and why it was better than power or revenge?
And of course, there is the argument that Cozyâs punishment was just plain cruel. The method of banishment or petrification for an extensive period of time is a common one in the playbooks of Celestia, Luna, and Discord, with two of the three once being subject to it themselves. But casting it upon a terrified child such as Cozy Glow could be seen as taking justice too far, to the point it becomes vengeful and harsh. A rejection of mercy in favor of blunt justice, and a denial of the very traits of harmony and forgiveness. Some might say that this just goes against the very ideas of My Little Pony itself, throwing the book at a child out of anger for her deeds, rather than taking a kinder option. The face of raw terror and fear she makes as she is turned to stone generally helps garner pity as well, seeing her face etched like that possibly for the rest of time, or maybe the next thousand years. It can certainly come off as a very brutal, perhaps excessive punishment, to be delivering on really anybody.
Of course, such arguments can vary from person to person, and some might even bring in different lines of logic entirely. However, these are likely the lines of logic I see most often when a Cozy Glow statue discussion is taking place, and why perhaps some folks feel that the punishment she received in The Ending of the End was taking things too far. Cozyâs status as a child, possible lack of awareness, ambiguous background, comparison to other cast members, and the direct brutality of the punishment itself are generally items that can raise the agitations of some fans, causing them to defend Cozy Glow and argue that perhaps she should not have been transformed into a statue in the first place.

Boondocking with Solar: Tips for Extended Off-Grid Adventures
Many RV enthusiasts revel in the freedom of the open road, the idea of setting up camp wherever they desire, away from the hustle and bustle of crowded campgrounds. But with freedom comes responsibility â especially when it comes to power. Solar power systems are a game-changer for those serious about extended boondocking adventures. If you've ever wondered, "Where can I find RV solar system installers near me?" you're on the right track.
The Solar Advantage
While boondocking â camping without any hookups â can be liberating, it also means you're on your own for power. Generators are an option, but they're noisy, can be bulky, and require constant refueling. This is where RV solar power systems truly shine. Silent, sustainable, and self-reliant, they harness the sun's abundant rays, converting them into electricity. It means you can enjoy those sunsets, nature sounds, and the peace of remote areas without the hum of a generator in the background.
Size Matters
Solar isn't one-size-fits-all. Your energy needs might be different from your neighbor's. Hence, before jumping in, assess your energy consumption. Maybe you only need enough power for basic amenities, or perhaps you want to run your AC and coffee maker without worries. Start by jotting down all your appliances and their energy needs. Once you have a clear picture, you can match it with an appropriate solar setup. This tailored approach ensures you won't find yourself short of power midway through your trip.
The Power of Battery Banks
Imagine storing sunshine in a box and using it whenever you like. That's what a battery bank does. Solar panels can harvest a good amount of energy during daylight, but what keeps your lights on at night? A strong, reliable battery bank. The type of battery matters here. While lead-acid batteries are common and affordable, lithium batteries last longer and can be discharged more deeply, giving you more usable energy.
Positioning Your Panels
Just as you'd position your RV to get the best view, the position of your solar panels is equally crucial. Some areas might be shaded, while others receive sunlight all day. Being strategic about where you park can enhance your panels' efficiency. And it's not just about parking - with adjustable tilt mechanisms, you can position your solar panels to face the sun more directly, optimizing energy capture, especially when the sun sits lower in the sky during winter.
Maintenance is Key
Solar panels are pretty low-maintenance, but occasional care can go a long way. Leaves, bird droppings, or accumulated dust can hinder their efficiency. A simple routine of wiping them down or brushing off debris can boost their output. While you're at it, check the connections and cables to ensure everything is in top shape.
Think Local
The array of panels, inverters, and batteries can be confusing. If you're frequently thinking, "Where are the reliable RV solar system installers near me?" local expertise is invaluable. Local professionals are well-versed in your region's specific needs and challenges, making them the best guide in your solar journey.
Embrace Energy Efficiency
A solar setup is only one side of the coin. The other side is how efficiently you use that power. Wasteful energy habits can leave you in the dark even with a top-tier solar system. Simple measures like using LED bulbs, insulating your RV, or even solar-powered gadgets can significantly reduce your consumption, allowing you to stay off-grid longer.
Boondocking with solar is more than just a trend; it's a lifestyle choice that combines the best of both worlds - the beauty of nature and the comfort of modern amenities.Â
So, if you're looking to set your RV up for serious off-grid adventures, remember these tips and take that first step into a brighter, greener future. Safe travels!

Annotated Playlist: Music for a Sunset
Thereâs something particularly striking about a sunset. Visually itâs always really stunning, the moment in the day where the sun catches our attention the most. The sunset is a kind of crossroads that we reach in the day, ending the afternoon and ushering in the night. The romanticized portrayal of the sunset in movies isnât just embellishment â Luke Skywalker staring at the twin suns, contemplating his life as he looks out to the horizon, is a moment I think we can all relate to as we look to the future with uncertainty. Looking into a sunset is a visceral thing at times, and with that idea of a crossroads I think we use that to reflect on our day or our struggles. Despite the sun going down and it becoming the night, thereâs an inspiring quality to a sunset thatâs different from a sunrise. The day is ending â what are you going to do with the rest of your time today?Â
Binary sunsets!
The last few years, Iâve started to relate sunsets and the reflection point they bring to an arc of hopelessness to hope. I wanted to make a playlist to kind of capture the feeling of reflecting at this very particular moment and finding a sense of resolve despite previous failures or challenges that I havenât overcome yet. I tried to have a range of genres in the playlist, and though the majority is rock, thereâs also some jazz and a little hip hop. Some of the songs have lyrics that relate back to the idea of reflection and getting the bigger picture, and others have specific types of sounds that Iâve kind of associated with the sunset (as weird as that may sound). These include droning and reverbed guitars, or ambient background sound that breathe a sense of majesty into the songs. Some of the connections may make sense only to me and could be based on particular times I remember listening to the songs, but I think the playlist comes together in a cohesive way. I tried to cut down the number of songs to the most important ones (the original playlist is 52 songs).
The playlist on Spotify:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. âAmbulanceâ by Blur
youtube
This songâs lyrics fit the playlistâs theme very well and it has a bunch of elements that are seen throughout the playlist. With that and the fact that it was the first track from its album, I figured it would work as the first song for this. This song feels like a weary yet resolved march onwards, one that feels both desperate yet confident. It starts with bongo-esque percussion and a deep, dark bass before the introduction of the trumpet and background chorus singing ushers in the first verse. The lyrics are simple and direct â âI ainât got nothing to be afraid of.â Damon Albarn sings this at first like heâs trying to convince himself to keep his head up, but not entirely successfully. Then he exclaims -ââcause I love you,â and a high ambient synth of sorts cracks the song wide open. The instrumentals here are really moving, with echo-y blaring trumpets and high synths contrasting with Damonâs low yet emotive words. âI was born out of love, itâs the only way to come into this world,â with a synth stinger matching him. âI know Iâm not all there, but Iâm getting getting getting there.â He then says that âIf you let me live my life, Iâll stay with you to the endâ as the horns continue. âAnd I know, lord, Iâm nearly there, on the surfaceâ his voice goes high as the drum cymbals drive us into the chorus. The same lyrics from the start âI ainât got nothing to be scared ofâ come back, and the song continues to rise to a crescendo of perseverance and promise. That acknowledgement that heâs not all there but heâs still going to try really works for me, and the instrumentals really add weight to this. The song cuts out all the music except the synths, and it feels like the sun is suddenly washing over after it was covered by a building before. The blaring trumpets and synths combined with deep bass and percussion left a strong impression the first time I heard the song, and it continued to grow on me as I listened to this song repeatedly. It doesnât feel like the conclusion of a story, but instead a new beginning.
2. âSunsetâ by Yuji Ohno
I first heard this song as I was looking through Spotify to find more jazz music, and this was one of the best ones I found. It helps here that itâs literally called âSunset,â but this song perfectly captures the splendor of the sun going down. It has a delicate synth and flute intro, with a harp and other shimmering sounds before the horn, guitar and drums transition the song into an epic jazzy ride. It lets you enjoy the serene and grand atmosphere with its slow pace and energetic trumpets. High majestic strings fly in from above with their echo. The song fills up the soundscape entirely with its variety of instruments. Itâs grandiose but smooth, kind of cheesy but very cool. This song always hits different, a total vibe. The definition of âmajestic.â
3. âAlisonâ by Slowdive
youtube
"Alison" music video
I was recommended the album Souvlaki on Spotify a few days ago and this opener really hit well for me. Itâs a spacey, resigned and calm bittersweet shoegaze track, immensely atmospheric. Thereâs something about the way the singer sings ââcause Iâm just floating,â and the tune of the song as a whole, that gives this sense of exhaustion and resignation one can feel towards the end of the day, like you just want to go to sleep. The lyrics just accept the problems, theyâre too tired to change course. With its guitarâs reverb, serene vocals, and pained echoey droning coming in the chorus sections, the song has this sad, numbing quality. The droning echo cuts out as the second verse begins, the voice more present again. Itâs pretty remarkable how the songâs swirling reverb builds up subtly that you only realize it once it leaves. That drone returns not long after though, and it continues until the song fades out. Sinking and drifting off as the day beats onwardsâŠ
4. âLuv(sic.) pt3â by Nujabes, feat. Shing02
The beat of âLuv(sic.) pt3â hopefully provides a fitting contrast to the end of âAlison.â I discovered Nujabesâ music from the anime Samurai Champloo, a great show that fuses Meiji-era Japan with hip-hop. Nujabesâ legendary soundtrack plays a big role in the showâs unique, lo-fi aesthetic. I have since gotten into some of his other music, and this song is one of my favorites of his, becoming very nostalgic for me. Its catchy beat and the warm, soft piano sample drew me in, and the emotional strings that enter with Shing02âs performance connected with me a lot. The instrumentals have this very emotionally present, intimate pull, with the strings loop giving an evocative sadness throughout, the tune going lower before it loops back. The production on the vocals have this sense of repetition or re-enforcement as well, with Shing02âs chorus being repeated: âItâs funny how the music puts time into perspective, add a soundtrack to your life and perfect it. Wherever you are feeling blue keep walking and we can get far, wherever you are,â The way that the next repetition comes directly after the previous line adds a certain emphasis on the chorus and that line âwherever you are,â as well as the way that Shing02 says it. That line for the longest time was the only part of the lyrics I paid much attention to, but as I made this playlist, I gained a new appreciation for them. I initially thought that the song initially just had a romantic focus, but when I actually listened to them I got a better understanding of the more broader yearning for satisfaction and the introspective focus, with the speaker wanting to re-contextualize his life as he looks back. He wants to âadd a soundtrack to [his] lifeâ and âperfect itâ in order to move forward and persevere. The music in this sense matches that so well, with the persistent strings loop giving weight to that strive.
5) âUs and Themâ by Pink Floyd
This is one of the songs from Dark Side of the Moon that I heard for the first time this year as I finally sat down and listened to the whole thing on its 50th anniversary year. I really like the guitar tune and the saxophone in this song, along with its epic chorus sections. The song feels like a culmination of sorts, epic and definitive in its sprawling statement on our collective self-centeredness. Itâs on the other end of the spectrum from the very personal lyrics from âLuv(sic.) pt3.â I think itâs this self-reflective focus, the saxophone and that chorus that make me associate this with an arresting sunset (Iâm honestly not entirely sure why saxophones have that association for me). I had some trouble determining if I should put this song or âTimeâ here, and though Time's timeless (sorry about that) lyrics are very fitting here, the grandeur of the scope of "Us and Them" made me associate it with the sunset more. With this song, the playlist becomes more melancholy.
6. âKodokuâ by Hideki Taniuchi
Death Note was one of the first anime I watched, and I really enjoyed it for the complex and addictive cat-and-mouse story and its overall aesthetic. It has a great music score from which I have a lot of my favorite soundtrack pieces. Itâs very versatile in the sense that it alternates between eerie and epic orchestral, emotional synths, and grungy emo alternative rock. This track is the latter-most, and was probably my introduction to the shoegaze and alternative sound, as weird as that is. It starts quiet with one guitar, and then another trickles in as it distorts and turns into a constant background drone. The main guitar tune and drum beat is a tired, world-weary cycle that goes lower, up again, and back down. It continues as the drone builds and the drums slowly escalate. Then there are five drum beats and the shrill distorted guitar becomes isolated before the drums and main guitar return with resounding, devastating force. The âchorusâ is bombastic and supremely sad. The same main guitar cycle continues but louder than before, as if saying that things canât get better, while the distorted drone blares, as if screaming as if in despair. This is the remainder of the song, and itâs depressing but kind of comforting. This is when my sunset contemplation playlist turns into wallowing.
Another Star Wars sunset!
7. âFake Plastic Treesâ by Radiohead
There are three Radiohead songs on this playlist, and even more on the longer playlist, but I think I controlled the impulse to have too many songs from just them on this one. âFake Plastic Treesâ is a song that grew on me over time. I initially didnât listen to much of The Bends stuff and only over this summer I finally listened to the album properly, itâs really good of course. This song especially holds up super well, itâs very direct and straightforward in comparison to their later material (which I equally like). The song builds to a powerful climax the way âKodokuâ does, but with the added weight of Thom Yorkeâs impassioned singing and haunting words. The song feels cathartic in its accompanying strings, ambient organ, acoustic and also heavy guitars, and clashing cymbals and drums. Like Us and Them this song has a more broader focus with its lyrics. As Jim Beviglia in American Songwriter discusses, the song critiques materialism and asks for real relationships, but thereâs also an extremely personal strive to make sense of the situation (Beviglia points out some really interesting aspects in the lyrics, like a joke about plastic surgery and using the language of commercials). And thereâs a crippling feeling of inadequacy at the end as the speaker is also caught up in the superficiality of it all. âIf I could be who you wantedâŠall the timeâŠall the time.â Weâre looking inwards, and we're stuck in a rut.
8. âA Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticutâ by Have a Nice Life
I talked about Deathconsciousness in a previous post, very depressing album (but also very good). I think more than any other song on the album this one suits the tone of this playlist, a lot of the others would have been too extreme. I feel like thereâs also some connective tissue with âFake Plastic Treesâ chord(?)-wise but I donât really know much about music theory so I canât really speak more on that. I think the song is good practically to listen to while watching a sunset, very soothing with its acoustic guitar and droning noise, which at the same time feels anguished and in line with the eerie synthetic notes too. The song couldâve been just some instrumental ambient piece, but it keeps itself immensely emotionally engaging. Itâs a mix of bittersweet recollection and tired acceptance with a haunting undertone (now Iâm really scared that this is just a nonsensical word salad). This is one of those songs where it feels a bit like staring into the abyss if you listen to it on repeat.Â
youtube
This song is depressing but this Super Mario 64 soundfont cover by @aldendwyer is really cool and well made!Â
9. âHow to Disappear Completelyâ by Radiohead
youtube
Like Luv(sic.) pt3, âHow to Disappear Completelyâ (Iâm abbreviating it as HTDC) is one of my favorite songs of all time, itâs my favorite Radiohead song. It was one of the songs from them that I heard by chance before I really knew much about them. I also adore the strings-only instrumental version they released in Kid Amnesia âHow to Disappear into Strings,â that adds another dimension to the song on its own. HTDC is another song here thatâs simultaneously distressing and soothing, but this one has an emotional power that to me makes it the most emblematic of that feeling of suddenly being at a crossroads. I was 100% sure I wanted this song on this playlist because of how much it has informed my understanding of the hope-v-hopelessness dynamic, even more than the bandâs other songs or the previous songs in the playlist.
youtube
HTDC stands out in its various layered emotions and instrumentation, along with Thomâs haunting words. Thereâs a great video from the Youtube channel Listening In that does a super intricate breakdown of the song from a writing perspective. One of the things the video does really well is characterize the different sounds of the song, my favorite of which is how he describes the electric guitar as âethereal and diffuse.â Ethereal, especially, describes this song in a nutshell. As Listening In explains, thereâs a dissonance in the strings combined with the warm acoustic guitar and gentle bass line, and through these elements the song creates an unparalleled sense of a crisis, a point where itâs just too frustrating to handle any longer. The music tries to comfort as the vocals repeat âIâm not here, this isnât happening,â but the strings continue to escalate and overwhelm that. There is no escape, it seems. The songâs soaring climax is Thomâs voice trying to break free, his voice matching the electric guitarâs distant cry. At first it seems to work. Then the stringsâ disharmony explodes out of control, until the voice finally comes back on top, the strings becoming a signal of triumph at the mountaintop, finally coming to terms with the stress. Thereâs a question of if the song is embracing the notion of âIâm not there, this isnât happening,â which at least for me is kind of scary in that it could lead to resignation and numbness, the kind thatâs there in âAlisonâ and âKodoku.â That doesnât sit well with me. What is the point of sad songs like those if we donât move on from there? Why indulge that? HTDC still resonates with me immensely, and itâs because of that suggestion of hope at the end. The song starts from the greatest crisis and concludes giving the possibility of real contentment. But it isnât enough for me to just end with that and be stuck on this song. I would still be stuck in the ditch.
10. âDust in the Windâ by Kansas
This is another all-time favorite of mine and one I have immense nostalgia for. My uncle has a CD of a bunch of different great songs across decades, ranging from classic rock like The Doors, Pink Floyd and ELO, later stuff like Bon Jovi, Journey, then Nirvana, and even contemporary stuff like Brittney Spears. âDust in the Windâ is one of the songs from this playlist (along with âCarry on Wayward Son" also by Kansas), and I have very specific memories listening to this in the car with him, my cousin-brother, and my sister. If HTDC is an intense voyage in the throes of a crisis, âDust in the Windâ is a sober reminder of where we stand. On one hand it might seem like this song is awfully depressing, but itâs actually rather reassuring, a simple and true reminder to take a step back. The bittersweet acoustic guitar and confident violin solo before a final chorus makes me feel content in the truth rather than distressed. HTDC and âDust in the Windâ come from opposite approaches to create equally moving moments of epiphany. This songâs tone of contentment towards our overall situation acts as the newfound stable footing that allows us to continue.
11. âWeird Fishes / Arpeggiâ by Radiohead
youtube
"Weird Fishes / Arpeggi" fan-made music video that Radiohead uploaded.
âWeird Fishesâ is another one of my all time favorite songs and my third favorite Radiohead song. Itâs similar in some ways to HTDC in that the lyrics are trying to find a way up from the ditch, but the desperation of Weird Fishes is an infectious yearning âfrom the bottom of the sea.â The fast drum beat is coupled with the calm, lush yet searching guitar tune. It captures that fundamental aspiration of something more from the horizon. âYour eyes. They turn me. Why should I stay here? Why should I stay?â Itâs such a simple question, one that hits me hard on some listens. As the song progresses Ed OâBrienâs backing vocals give voice to that passion, a cry for happiness that Thom then matches, the beautiful guitars, the drum beat momentum all match, "this is my chanceâ untilâ âI get eaten by the worms.â The tragedy to the song is that the thing weâre chasing that gets us out of the rut is often a phantom all along. It may never end. The song doesnât stop on that though. The bass takes central focus, and different elements swirl and rise up again as Thom says âI hit the bottom, I hit the bottom and escape.â He keeps on going. There's something really moving about that to me.
youtube
@on4word makes really exceptional soundfont covers, with great artwork and puns to boot. The creator re-did the entirety of In Rainbows and OK Computer along with a lot of songs from other artists too. The production work and creativity is honestly incredible.
12. âKiriâ by Monoral
youtube
I first heard this song from the anime Ergo Proxy, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi show. It has a kind of emo vibe â one of the main characters quite literally looks like the Evanescence album cover, not even exaggerating. The showâs intro sequence really caught my attention. It had a muted, cloudy backdrop with decaying industrial features, its main character lit by the yellow cloudy sky. This opening and the song in it, âKiriâ by a Japanese group called Monoral, had an aesthetic that kind of influenced the whole concept for this sunset playlist. The actual show had an interesting concept but never really lived up to its potential, unfortunately.
youtube
Cool concept, bad show, great OP.
The song "Kiri," like many others in the playlist, conveys a sense of desperation, but it's instrumentation and the vocals convey a kind of resolve and hope that I really appreciated. It starts with a guitar, and introduces a deep bass and background droning that is one of my favorite elements of the song. The drum comes in with the lyrics: "you complete my fate." There's a Christian undertone to a lot of the lyrics, like "the halo crawls away" and later on "the heavens stroll inside of me" and "believe in me and drink the wine and take my hand...." Itâs an interesting layer to the song, and itâs cool in that I think that you could take the lyrics in a more general sense too if you wanted to. I was drawn to the underlying optimism of the song as the chorus unfolds with the lead singer exclaiming: "come and save me," with the droning matching the voice's pleading. The showâs opening sequence pairs a dark yet enchanting sunset sky with the rust and grime of the post apocalypse. As the song ends with the singer presumably taking on a different, reassuring voice, there's a sense of fulfillment. The song in general still comes from the perspective of yearning for saving, but I now am given a level of faith that things can get better.
13. âModal Soulâ by Nujabes feat. Uyama Hiroto
youtube
I remember finding this song around the same time as "Luv(sic.) pt3," and I really enjoyed the serene but lively vibes of this. Considering the more hip-hop genre of Nujabes' other songs I wasn't expecting this jazz piece. There's a really nice texture to the percussion, and the main horn tune leads me through the song, which transitions to piano taking the focus. There's an ambient sound in the song which creates a really interesting aura and fills the soundscape. This song is perfect for a car ride at sunset with the windows open (that was the most memorable time I listened to the song). Listening to the song at any time in the day, I visualize a sunset. At the end of the day listening to it makes me feel a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. It's not the same kind of grandeur as the Yuji Ohno track from earlier, instead more subdued. The rich sound of the song makes me feel content.
14. âSpring Dayâ by BTS
I don't listen to much K-pop, and I know some of BTS' music from my sister when she was really into their music. They're a good band though (my sister is right that their English songs are much weaker), and the song "Spring Day" has continued to stand out to me even long after I heard it for the first time. The song is incredibly bittersweet. My sister explained the meaning of the song once, that it's about coming to terms with the loss of a friend, that they'll meet again and spring will one day return. I've also heard that it addresses a ferry disaster incident in 2014. Lauren Kranc wrote for Esquire that although the specific event the song talks about is vague, there were a number of indicators that the song has some association with the Sewol ferry incident, which saw the deaths of 304 passengers (majority being high school students) and caused a large backlash in South Korea, This is definitely backed up by the music - the song begins with its signature synthetic tune with piano. The first verse keeps the synth in the background, but then it comes to the forefront of the bridge as the beat falls away and starts building up for the chorus. The song's chorus is incredibly cathartic, the synth tune acting as an expressive drone in a bombastic peak, and the sudden accidentals into minor from the hushed vocals always seem to catch me vulnerable. The song's rap sections don't work quite as well for me just because I don't know the lyrics that well, but that's just the overall insignificant byproduct of a language barrier. Although the song seems to talk about some kind of difficult loss, the emotion of the music gives the reflective nature of it a very earnest quality that conveys a particular feeling of closure to me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
I think what I want to say with all this has less to do with trying to make a thesis about anything and more about seeing the kind of arc I ended up making as I made a playlist. Sunsets are cool but I like engaging with the emotions that different songs elicit and how they relate to each other. I often found myself coming to terms with different ideas from the songs. Some songs like "Alison," "Kodoku" and "Earthworm" seem to have a very dejecting view, and when I listen to those songs enough times it makes me question what the point of listening to them is when they are sad like that. I felt the need to put them in a context that ultimately makes me not want to linger too long on the dark feelings conveyed from them, and it turned into an inspirational story of sorts that I hoped would be true. I find myself being annoyed at the cycle of trying to get motivation only to squander it by getting distracted and procrastinating. That procrastination makes me frustrated at myself on a deeper level, which doesn't help me actually get out of the rut I'm in. This frustration and my thoughts about it definitely guided how I made the playlist.
I was ultimately more concerned with those things as compared to the functional listening purpose of the playlist. That being said, with HTDC aside due to how heavy it is, I think all the tracks here are good driving songs and fit for anything at sunset. There are aesthetic similarities between them in terms of genre and the sound (like droning) that hopefully makes these enjoyable songs a cohesive listening experience and also a non-repetitive one.
Something I realized towards the end of this is that the two songs that ended up being the most important âresolutionsâ for the playlist were âDust in the Windâ and âSpring Day,â both being songs that I have a family connection to. The meaning I take from âDust in the Windâ is very colored by the fact that I grew up listening to it and thus took its message more to heart than I might have hearing it now. And in general, both that song and âSpring Dayâ have greater emotional value to me because I associate them with my family.
Below here is the original long playlist. Itâs quite big but it has a lot more variety, there's more of each genre or vibe of the 14 tracks above.

How to Use AI to Make Perfect Photos in Seconds!
Introduction: Youâve seen all the photos on Instagram and Facebook that look great but take hours to make. The problem is, most of us canât do it fast enough. Thatâs where AI comes in! With AI, you can make perfect photos in seconds by using algorithms to analyze your images. In this guide, we will learn how to use Ai Image Generator to make beautiful photos in any situation!
How AI Can Help You Make Perfect Photos in Seconds.
AI can help you take better photos by helping you to organize your photos. For example, if you want to take a photo of a beautiful sunset from your porch, AI can help you add the perfect colors and light sources to the photo. AI can also help you get more out of your photos by helping you speed up the process. For instance, if youâre taking a picture of someone important in your life and want to make sure that every moment is captured, AI can help by quickly editing and printing out the photo before the person even has a chance to see it.
How AI Can Help You Organize Your Photos.
AI can also help you organize your photos by helping you to find and use common photo subjects. For example, if you have a bunch of vacation pictures taken in different locations around the world, This Person Does Not Exist AI can help you group them all together so that they look like one cohesive photograph. Additionally, AI can help identify common photo problems and suggest solutions for them- such as Organizing Your Photos: A Primer
By using AI, itâs possible to quickly and easily organize your photos so that they look like one cohesive photograph without having to spend time hunting down specific images or subjects.
How to Use AI to Make Perfect Photos.
One of the most important things you can do when it comes to taking good photos is to use AI. This acronym stands for artificial intelligence, and refers to the technology that helps computers create or improve photos. AI can be used in a number of ways, but its primary purpose is to help you make photos that look better.
To start using AI to make Photos Look Good, youâll first need to understand how it works. AI takes pictures and videos and compares them against a set of templates or photo editing software. If the video or photo matches any of the templates, it will then recommend improvements or corrections that can be made. You can also use AI to make photos look more professional by using specific techniques such as cropping, brightness/contrast enhancement, and dodging and burning (a process used in post-processing).
If you want your photos to look better very quickly, there are a few methods you can use. One way is called âraw processingâ and involves capturing all of your footage without any editing tools installed. Once everything is captured, you can then use this raw footage as a starting point for AI processing. This method is usually best used for low-light photography or videos where details are important.
Another quick way to improve photos is by using âfiltersâ â software programs that allow you to modify certain aspects of the picture such as color, brightness, saturation, etc. Once these filters have been applied, they will often result in improved results than just leaving everything untouched. However, be careful not to overdo it â too many filters can end up looking artificial and processed instead of natural and unpolished.
How To Use AI To Make Photos That Look Better Faster.
You can also use AI to make photos look better faster by following some simple steps:
1) Choose an appropriate photo subject
2) Take advantage of digital zoom
3) Use speedlights or other light sources
4) Use effective white balance
5) Use digital filters
6) Use the AI software to improve the photo
7) Post-process the photo using a software like Adobe Photoshop or DaVinci Resolve
How To Use AI To Make Photos That Look Better More Often.
One of the best ways to use AI to make photos look better is by using it regularly. This means setting up a routine where you take photos and then review them later to see how theyâve been improved. This way, you wonât have to worry about thinking of a good photo every time and will be able to get more consistent results in a shorter amount of time. Additionally, using AI can help speed up the process by suggesting changes or improvements that may be relevant to the shot at hand.
Another great way to use AI is by using it as part of your creative process. By using it as a tool for imagining different possibilities, you can help improve your photography skills and allow for more spontaneity in your shots. You can also use AI to help create ideas for photos that you may never have thought of before â this can be extremely helpful when planning photo shoots or creating new portraits.
How To Use AI To Make Photos That Look Better More Perfect.
One final way to improve photos is by using artificial intelligence software as part of an overall photo editing technique called âpaint-by-numbersâ. This approach uses a set of pre-determined steps that are followed until a perfect photo is created. In this way, you donât need any additional editing steps and can focus on capturing the moment instead. If all of these methods donât work for you or you find that they produce results not meeting your needs, there are other options available such as online programs like Instagram or Snapchat which offer similar features but without the harsh chemicals or software used in traditional photoshoots.
Tips for Making Perfect Photos using AI.
One of the most important ways to improve the quality of your photos is by using AI. The software can help you correct many of the mistakes you make while taking pictures, making them look much more professional.
For example, if youâre struggling to get a good photo of your loved one, using AI can help you take better shots in a fraction of the time. It can also help you improve the efficiency of your photography by remove distracting background clutter and make more accurate adjustments to your lighting.
Use AI to Improve the Efficiency of Your Photos.
Another great way to increase the efficiency of your photos is by using AI to improve the appearance of your images. By applying filters and other techniques, you can create photos that look more polished and professional. This can save you time and money when planning future shoots.
Use AI to Improve the Quality of Your Photos More Often.
Last but not least, itâs always important to use AI when taking photos for social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook. By correcting grammar or adding new wrinkles into old images, AI can make sure that your photos are looking their best online.
Conclusion
Using AI to make perfect photos is a great way to improve your photography skills. By using AI to improve the quality of your photos, speed up the process of photographing, and increase the appearance of your photos, you can create images that are both beautiful and perfect.

QuanYin:
Yin Yu and his boyfriend/toddler at the beach
Quan Yizhen is so incredibly excited about going to the beach he doesn't sleep at all the night before.
His luggage is (a bit messily) packed like 3 days in advance
(Somehow still forgets his swim trunks)
(Yin Yu always packs extra just for this scenario specifically)
He's hungry the moment they arrive and eats a whole watermelon by himself at like 8 am
He's that one dude running along the beach and doing gymnastics first thing in the morning. Yin Yu finds this both endearing and also insane.
Insists on doing everything for Yin Yu, from setting up the beach umbrella to the towels and drinks, he's spoiling his shixiong like its nobody's business and Yin Yu gets so flustered about it
Yizhen's first to dive into the water even in the morning when its colder. He's so full of energy
He fights kids for seashells and has no shame about it
If anyone steps on his sand castle that he built for Yin Yu specifically, theyre dead
"Shixiong look what i caught for you!" And its the biggest, angriest crab ever, how did he even get that
"Yizhen please stop bullying the sea wildlife." "Its not bullying shixiong, its fishing!" "With your fists???'
Yin Yu has to force him to sit down to put sun screen on him and bribe him with kisses and ice cream
Yizhen burns so bad and he knows it but he hates sunscreen and he and Yin Yu have to test out the textures before applying them
They do have to be waterproof because Yizhen turns into a sea creature the moment he sees water too
By midday, he's knocked out lmao
Yin Yu holds his head in his lap as he naps and Yin Yu reads, holding the book with a hand and the other playing with his hair, aw
Yizhen tries to make Yin Yu a seashell necklace, he even brings string and beads from home, but he settles on matching bracelets instead
Yin Yu is so particular about digging sand canals??? The earth master shovel business rubbed off on him big time so he's basically construction project manager while Yizhen digs
He is lowkey scared of swimming so he has one of those floating mattress he uses, always with a drink in hand of course because shixiong needs to relax
"Yizhen put on the sun hat!" "But shixiong, my hair!!" "Your hair is full of sand and saltwater, put on the hat!!"
Theyre opposite energies but theyre having so much fun together
They take corny couples pictures at the beach because Yizhen insists they need to make many good memories together and put them in a scrapbook or something
Sunset picnics!!
TGCF couples at the beach
Because i want to go to the beach so bad rn
HuaLian:
Hua Cheng isnt too fond of the sun or the water but gege said he'd like to go so they're going.
Everything is fancy and luxurious, only the best for gege.
A large beach bed with a canopy, drinks and snacks served at all times, the whole nine yards.
He wears those fancy sunscreen lotions with foreign names cause he may be dead but he also burns easily and turns into a big baby about it.
Xie Lian insists they dont need to do all that and can just chill in the sand with a towel, which Hua Cheng finds preposterous.
They have a big ass umbrella over the canopy bed too cause the sun is a deadly laser.
So much affection - cuddling, kissing, being all sweet and lovey, feeding each other watermelon and gathering seashells
Theyre sickeningly sweet
Hua Cheng is able to keep his hands to himself for about 5 seconds max
If there are any noisy kids or families around, Hua Cheng sends Yin Yu to scare them off
(They take Yin Yu with for this express purpise but hey free all inclusive vacation, a win is a win)
Xie Lian never burns ever and refuses to wear sunscreen. Hua Cheng pouts about it because 1) dont want gege to get a sunburn and 2) cant teasingly rub lotion over him smh
Hua Cheng builds one of those fancy sand statues of Xie Lian and he thinks its the most romantic thing ever
It is
So many kisses in the water and swimming together all lovey
Hua Cheng is never seen not drinking a margarita
"You do not need to keep your swim trunks that low, San Lang." "Gege, tan lines are terrible."
BeefLeaf
SQX cant get He Xuan out of the water once they arrive to the beach. Nope. That is his habitat now. He belongs to the fishes.
SQX rents out beach chairs by the bar because how can one tan without a drink in hand?
Skimpy swimsuits because SQX also abides by the tan lines are the devil mentality
Manages to get He Xuan out of the water with the promise of ice cream
Talking shit about everyone around while eating ice cream and drinking martinis
So many seashells. He Xuan gives them to SQX as an offering aw
"XuanXuan you cant drown people that say indecent things about me!" "Who says" "the law??"
He Xuan brings SQX little fish he catches if they look colorful or pretty
"XuanXuan, put some tanning oil on my back!" And He Xuan spends like 10 mins trying to find the correct bottle because SQX brought like 50 and the tanning oil SQX wants looks like literally every other bottle there
So many selfies
He Xuan digs tunnels in the sand whenever he isnt in the water. SQX has to talk him into not using the Earth Master shovel
Theyre checking out hot people together
He Xuan puts on sunglasses to pretend he isnt staring at SQX
"XuanXuan you cant throw jellyfish at children!!"
SQX flirts their way into free drinks and He Xuan broods about it but also he is deeply in debt so he can't turn down free shit lmao
FengQing
Arguing, so much arguing, but hey thats their love language
"Thats a shit spot for a towel" "okay find a better one then" "here!" "Thats like a foot away whats the difference??"
Feng Xin refuses to put on sunscreen cause he thinks its not manly
"You cant beat the fucking sun, Feng Xin!"
Mu Qing refuses to get his hair wet. Feng Xin makes it a point to dunk him in the water at least once
Feng Xin falls asleep in the sun like an old man and Mu Qing draws dicks on him with sunscreen lmfao
They argue about who goes to get drinks and snacks and just end up going together
Feng Xin insists to exclusively drink beer until he tries one of Mu Qing's deadly cocktail combinations and hes hooked. He insists they add a little umbrella to his drink now so he and Mu Qing match
Sand castles competition turned chasing into the waves turned underwater kisses
Mu Qing judges everyone and Feng Xin cant help adding in to the commentary because its surprisingly entertaining
Beach sports! Theyre so competitive too so its extra fun and they make bets over everything
