author's note: maki said on live he went snowboarding in january and I thought I could make something cute. also, sorry if this is a bit inaccurate, I don’t live somewhere where it snows and have never been snowboarding.

It was Maki’s first day off in weeks, and he was beyond excited. There was something about the crisp winter air and the smell of snow that made him feel alive. Today, he wasn’t an idol—he was just a guy about to hit the slopes for a bit of snowboarding. But, there was one catch. He wasn’t going alone. 

You, his best friend who had never set foot on a snowboard in your life, had asked him to come along. The thought of seeing you try something new—especially something he loved so much—was a thrill he couldn't resist. 

“Maki, are you sure this is a good idea?” you asked, your voice a mix of excitement and fear as you stood at the base of the slope, wearing way too many layers for your first time on a snowboard. 

Maki smiled warmly, adjusting your beanie before pulling on his gloves. “Of course! Don’t worry, I’ll teach you everything you need to know. Plus, it’s gonna be so much fun. You’re going to love it!” 

You swallowed painfully. His smile—always so effortlessly charming—made your heart skip a beat, but you pushed the fluttering feeling deep down. He was your friend. Nothing more. But still, being around him like this made everything feel…different. 

You looked at the snow-covered mountains, the gentle fall of snowflakes stirring around you, and your stomach fluttered again. You’d always been interested in snowboarding, but the idea of falling flat on your face in front of Maki? Embarrassing. 

But then, Maki gave you that grin—his signature mischievous, teasing smile that somehow made your heart race—and you couldn’t back out now. 

“Alright, alright, I’ll give it a try,” you said with a laugh, trying to sound casual, though you were sure your voice gave away just how nervous you were. “But you better catch me if I fall!” 

Maki chuckled. “Deal. I’ll be right there, don’t worry.” 

He led you to the bunny slopes, a small, gentle hill filled with children. You couldn’t help but glance around—little seven-year-olds zooming past you with the ease of seasoned pros. Your face burned hot. This was where you were going to learn? Surrounded by kids barely old enough to tie their own shoes? 

Maki seemed unfazed, though. He adjusted your helmet, making sure it was secure, before grabbing his own snowboard. “Alright,” he said, eyes bright, “let’s start with the basics. This hill is perfect for you. Nothing too crazy, just a lot of practice.” 

You looked at the tiny children confidently carving their way down the hill and then back at Maki, his smile wide and encouraging. Despite the initial embarrassment, you couldn’t help but feel a little grateful. At least you wouldn’t be the only one falling flat on your face today. 

“You got this,” Maki said, giving you a playful pat on the back. “I’ll be right here the whole time. If you fall, I’ll catch you.” His words warmed your chest.

With a deep breath, you stepped into your snowboard bindings. Immediately, your feet felt awkward and heavy, but Maki was there every step of the way—holding your arm, adjusting your stance, and offering constant reassurance.

 “Okay, now we stand up slowly. It’s all about finding your balance.” Maki demonstrated with ease, hopping up effortlessly onto his board. “Like this. Don’t rush it.” 

You tried mimicking his movements, wobbling and flailing as you attempted to find your footing. The moment you stood, your knees buckled, and you quickly fell forward into the soft snow. 

“Whoops! First fall, but no worries,” Maki said, laughing and offering you a hand. You reached for it, feeling the warmth of his grip as he helped you up. 

“You make it look easy,” you said, brushing snow off your jacket and feeling embarrassed. “How are these kids doing it so well?” 

Maki chuckled, brushing snow off his own pants. “They’re just fearless. You’ll get there. The more you fall, the faster you learn.” He gave you a wink. “And you’ve got the best teacher, right?” 

You rolled your eyes, trying to ignore the little butterflies in your stomach his playful flirting (protein) gave you as you smiled back at him. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s see how good of a teacher you really are.”

The next few tries were… well, not graceful. You spent more time face-first in the snow than actually standing on the board, but Maki was there, laughing with you, encouraging you. He joked about your “snow angel” skills after each fall, teasing you in his usual playful way. 

But then, something clicked. After a few more tumbles, you finally managed to stay standing for a few seconds. The feeling of accomplishment made your heart race. 

“See? You’re doing great! You’re already better than those kids,” Maki said with a grin, giving you a high-five. Your face turned warm, wiping snow from your gloves, not sure if he was joking or if you really were improving. His praise made you feel like you were on cloud 9, even if you still couldn’t turn without falling. 

“Okay, okay, I’ll take it,” you said, laughing as you steadied yourself. “What’s next?” 

Maki gestured to the tiny hill. “Now we try the slope. Don’t worry, it’s real gentle. I’ll go ahead and you follow, alright?” You nodded, nervous but excited. 

You pushed off, slowly making your way down the slope. It wasn’t graceful, and you definitely looked nothing like the little pros zooming past, but the rush of sliding down the hill—controlled and fast—was addictive. You were actually doing it.

“Maki!” you called, your voice bubbling with laughter as you reached the bottom, still wobbling but feeling proud. “I did it!” 

He appeared next to you, his eyes gleaming with pride. “I knew you could. You’re a natural!” His grin was so genuine, so warm, it made your heart race for all the wrong reasons. “See? No need to be nervous.” 

You smiled back, your chest full of pride—but also something else. Something that made the snow feel a little warmer, the mountain air a little sweeter. “I couldn’t have done it without you.” 

Maki’s expression softened for a second, but before you could overthink it, he ruffled your hair in that familiar, playful way. “You’re doing amazing. Now, let’s do it again.” 

The rest of the day flew by, filled with more falls, laughter, and moments where you couldn’t quite tell if your heart was racing from the snowboarding or the way Maki made everything feel so easy. As the sun began to dip behind the mountains, the sky turning pink and orange, the two of you found yourselves seated on the chairlift, calmly watching the view. 

Maki looked over at you, his playful demeanor replaced with a softness that you hadn’t seen all day. “You really did great today. I’m proud of you.” 

Your heart skipped a beat. That warm feeling in your chest was more than just the cold air around you. You tried to calm the fluttering inside, but it was impossible. “Thanks, Maki,” you said, a soft smile on your lips. “Honestly, I didn’t think I’d make it this far. But you made it fun.” 

He looked at you, his eyes tender in the fading light. “It’s all about having fun together. I’m glad we did this.” He chuckled softly. “And don’t worry, you’ll be a pro in no time.” 

You smiled, a little bashful but also feeling a warmth that had nothing to do with the cold mountain breeze. “Yeah. Me too.”

As the snow continued to fall, you couldn’t help but feel that today had been about more than just snowboarding. It had been about the time spent with Maki—the laughter, the shared learning, the way he always seemed to be there when you needed him. Something about the way he looked at you now, softer than before, made you wonder if there was more to this. 

Maybe these moments—these small, quiet moments—weren’t just coincidences. Maybe they were the start of something neither of you had expected. You caught Maki’s gaze, and for the first time today, you wondered if maybe the next step wasn’t just being friends anymore.

maki doesn't realize at first, but he loves to talk for you. he loves ordering for you, making appointments for you, talking to the cashier for you, all of it! not in a weird toxic way, but it’s his way for proving his dependability and maturity to you. he’d wanna use his language and people skills to impress you <33

irrespective of what you’re like as a person btw! even if you’re also able to speak multiple languages and/or are very self-sufficient lol. if anything, i think he’d enjoy it more if you’re usually very independent, the idea that you only rely on him like this would make his heart flutter~. i also see this with a s/o who’s slightly older than him. while i do think he’d prefer someone closer to his age, i also see him deriving a little bit of satisfaction from being able to ‘get’ someone older even if it’s only like a year (if he likes someone, he likes them, but it would boost his ego just a litttttle~).

K : Literally pulled you deeper into his huge chest. Your eyes widen from his action but before you could even turn around to say something, he hugged you tight with his right arm, that was huge enough to wrap your entire body in one swing. “Is my baby finally brave enough to sit on my lap~?” – a teasing chuckle followed as he whispered in your ears that got your entire face reddening. It’s been a while since you’ve wanted to sit on K’s huge lap, it seemed like such a comfortable seat to you personally, but you can’t deny that you were too shy. K knew you too well, but he wanted you to come to him on your own so he stayed quiet. He made sure to reassure you that it was totally fine to do so when you finally managed to let your intrusive thoughts win.

Fuma : Would stiff up subtly as soon as he felt your weight on his lap. It was just a normal evening, Fuma was focused on his game, headphones attached to him, his friend yelling incoherent words from the other line. You took this chance to try out something. You sneakily kept your closure to his figure sitting on the gaming chair before taking the opportunity to launch yourself on him. He was definitely shocked and it was obvious he lost focus from the game from the very start. When you started squirming on top of him though, he’ll hold you by the waist, still all your movements – “honey, stay still, I need to focus” That’s when you notice, your subtle little attempt wasn’t all that subtle.

Nicholas : The fastest person to make your existence on his lap known. Would straight up call you out and tease you about it. He would dwell on that little action of yours for weeks while completely teasing you about it nonstop. He’d spin you around, making you face him and look you straight in the eyes with a  smug look on his face – “I see someone’s let their intrusive thoughts take over” You pouted at him, gesturing that you’re getting off immediately, refusing to take his tease but you’re only met with a tight pull at your waist and a sweet strawberry flavored kiss to your lips.

Ej : Would stiff up very evidently and even started squirming around at one point. Honestly, it ain’t even on purpose, he truly wanted to keep his reaction subtle but he’s just still got a lot more to learn from Fuma hyung apparently. He’d stiffen up so much to the point you would even notice, stilling his breathing while the air is caught in his throat as he struggled to find a certain distraction to keep him calm. You’d let out a chuckle when you found his entire face reddening and sweating. “Stop laughing~ you’re the one who started this..” – he spoke in a sulky tone as you kept chuckling at him. This little blushy tangerine didn’t even gave you a chance to blush first.

Yuma : The literal tease. But not as teasing as K. As soon as he felt your body heat on his lap, he’ll turn his head straight to your direction in the most obvious way. Will start squishing your cheeks and babying you, smiling like a cheeky kid inside from how happy he is. “Awww look at you so adorable on my lap~!” You grabbed him by his collar, landing a soft kiss on his lips to shut him up. And as expected, he’s content with your little payment, pulling you back into a deeper kiss just as bonus payment~

Jo : The ‘I did noticed’ but nonchalant one. Obviously the sudden warmth he felt on his lap wasn’t just to his imagination, especially when you started squirming around, disturbing his view of the book in his right arm. Out of nowhere, you felt a huge palm pinning down both your arms while pulling you closer to lean against him. “If you wanna have a seat.. stay still.” You’d panic a bit now that you noticed he knew but soon you came to a sense of comfort, on his warm lap, tightly wrapped cozily by his arm.

Harua : The Uno Reverse Card user. Would start squirming as soon as he felt your weight on him. Trying to keep it subtle but poor bunny boy can’t help that he was obviously a bit more petite compared to other group members and this applied to his strength and endurance as well. Finally had enough and gets up, pushing you up a bit before seating you back down. Then the most unexpected thing happens, he sat right on your lap as you looked at him with widen eyes. “Don’t mind me~” – speaking in a sassy tone as he started scrolling through his phone while you kept giving him side eyes.

Taki : He’s the ultimate mixture of Yuma and Harua. Don’t expect for this boy to let you get a free seat on him unless there’s a payment method. And his payment isn’t a simple sweet little kiss, no. It’s actually you allowing him to practically do the same to you whenever he wants. You want to sit on his lap? That’s okay but you’ll also have to let him sit on your lap. But you weren’t one to know this system beforehand, taking it as a free chance for a free seat when you caught him, legs crossed on the bed, focused on his phone screen. It’s only when you’ve taken a seat, which you knew you were now in deep trouble – “Oh~ seems like my cutie fell for my trap~”

Maki : The literal gentleman. He maybe the maknae and he maybe a tease but he’s definitely far off from the other group members when it comes to teasing. He barely teases you, because most of the time all you get is princess treatment. Would be completely comfortable with your sudden action, even resting his head on your shoulder to make you feel closer and more cozy with him. But then his sudden worry would click in his head. You could feel the soft warm breath of this gentle boy in the crook of your neck, when he spoke in a worry but gentle tone – “Had a bad day, love?”

If forever meant being with you, he would embrace forever with wide open arms. He loves you more than you can ever know.

Maki - I firmly believe he sees love in everything. Perhaps it is his upbringing but to him, love is laughing when you trip on air and saying aww when you see cute puppies. His love is noticeable, yet reserved. You know he loves you but he expresses it in ways that make you wonder if you saved a world in your past. To him, love is learning about you and wanting to live life with you! Loving you is so easy, it's like breathing. He loves you so much and in each kiss, he hopes you know that you're never alone. A/N: It’s never a problem! As someone who is neurodivergent I also find it hard to find anything jpop/kpop related things in regards to the neurodivergent space. Or honestly just anything to do with mental health, I personally love writing where the reader is neurodivergent or has other mental disorders like Bipolar, BPD, Major Depressive Disorder, literally ANYTHING like that because it kind of heals me a little if that makes any sense. But shout out to my bestie for helping me with this, even though a lot of my symptoms add up with Autism I have not been diagnosed with it (I have ADHD even though my doc wants to get me tested for Autism) And my bestie has been diagnosed with Autism so they helped me a lot with writing this. I hope you do enjoy this and if you see any errors hit me up! I’m always looking forward to educating myself on things like this. 

Maki is a very attentive person, he notices a lot of small things and is very considerate of others. Now I did say that Maki would be the perfect boyfriend to have for someone who is neurodivergent. But not in the sense that he knows exactly what to do right away. Mostly because that’s honestly unrealistic, even if he knows about Autism. He doesn’t know exactly what having Autism is for you since it’s a spectrum and everyone with Autism experiences it differently.

What I mean by this is that he will take the time to learn and try to understand you to the best of his abilities. Even though he doesn’t know what it’s like, he still goes out of his way to educate himself and ask his partner questions about it.  But he will struggle and might in the best of terms I can think of is “fails”(not the best word I know) in the beginning. For example: Maki is a very physically affectionate person, it’s one of his major love languages(got this from when Maki was crying because Harua didn’t like physical contact with him and he thought Harua didn’t like him at first). But sometimes his partner might get overstimulated or just in a mood where they just can’t stand physical contact at the moment. It’s not that they don’t love him, it’s just in that moment being touched literally irritates the fuck out of them or they just simply don’t want to be touched. At first he wouldn’t understand that, and would keep trying to maybe hold their hand or hug them. 

But because of the stimulation of it they may lash out because of it. If they do he wouldn’t get it and might get insecure about it, but once they explain to him why his negative emotions would fly out the window. He would then move on from that moment and ask them if it’s okay to touch them, sometimes he still does without asking but he at least makes an effort to make sure their not getting overstimulated by it. Another thing is loud noises or just too much noise. It’s no secret that Maki is a very loud individual, especially when he’s with his friends and members. Now even though his partner can be loud too, and bursts of moments of talking a lot. It’s usually only when they’re completely comfortable. But if they start getting overstimulated and the noises are getting too much he would try to find a way to help them. Like taking them to a quieter place, or giving them his headphones to help dial the noises down. He would try to pick up on the signs for when they’re starting to get overstimulated too. He’s always attentive to his partner and will learn the signs very quickly. He also learned fast not to mess with them when they’re stimming. At first he thought they were just anxious but learned that it was a way to regulate their emotions or help the overstimulation. 

When it comes to tone he always helps his partner, like if they take something literally or just didn’t pick up on the tone of someone's voice he will essentially take time to explain it to his partner. And he doesn’t get tired of it either, because he understands that they sometimes take everything literally or have a hard time reading people's expressions and moods. Doesn’t mind that his partner is considered “blunt” either, he actually prefers it. He hates when people sugarcoat things, and acts fake. That’s why he prefers to have a partner who speaks their mind even if it does come off rude sometimes, he gets that his partner isn’t trying to be rude. 

When it comes to food he’s super understanding about it, like if they can’t eat certain foods because of the texture he won’t make them eat it. If he’s trying something new and it’s in a flavor or texture they don’t like he will tell them so they don’t eat it. 

USES TONE TAGS WHEN TEXTING OMG, the start of the relationship when it came to texting it always led to misunderstanding which led to fights. So when he found out about tone tags he was on that shit and it’s become a habit for him now that he even uses it when he’s texting other people. He actually finds this just super helpful and thinks people should use them more often.

Is a huge supporter of his partners hyperfixations too! He will sit there and watch all episodes of his partner's favorite show. And will let them go on for hours telling him about this cool thing, even if it is just info dumping about the topic. Always shows interest in it too, whenever he sees an object in correlation to their hyper fixation in the store he buys it immediately. He honestly just loves and can’t get enough of the way his partner just feels so comfortable to talk about it and how they literally just sparkle up about it too. 

When his partner goes nonverbal he does get really concerned over it, but finds a way to communicate with them in alternative ways. Gets extra protective over them when they do go nonverbal, doesn’t force them to talk and doesn’t get angry. If someone says anything to them about it he will stand up and say something. 

Stays on their schedule, he understands that they like to have things a certain way and if it’s not they get pretty upset. Which is fine! He’ll work on it with them, but still works to make sure they have a set structure.

Reader is really hard-working and lowkey a perfectionist, reader is also gender-neutral, let me know if I missed anything!!

Message from the moon: I'm so sorry to this anon cause they had to wait and this might be pretty bad hahehshshahah, I did it in bullet form because I do not have the motivation and time to make this into a one-shot (maybe I will in the future) anyways I hope you still like it! My requests are still open for soft and hard thoughts/fic requests.

• Maki first heard about the new group of trainees at HYBE, or now known as YX Labels (request took a long time the ask had the old company name 😮‍💨), and wasn't too interested. He wanted to focus on his group's upcoming comeback.

• Your group's debut was almost at the same time as &TEAM's new single, which meant that your group is promoting at the same time as &TEAM. Since your group was new and needed some publicity, the company wanted your group to have a collab with &TEAM.

• The first day of rehearsals for the collab, the members of &TEAM were already waiting at the practice room, getting a head start on stretches. Maki was stretching with Nicho and Jo when Euijoo called everyone to gather since the new group just arrived. The members of &TEAM lined up to greet your group and you all did the same under your leader's/your (if you are the leader) instructions, each one of your members introduced and it was finally your turn.

• The moment your group stepped in, Maki was already pretty interested in you. As mentioned before, he heard about the new trainees back then and heard some words about you. When it was your turn to introduce yourself, you mentioned that you are fluent in English too. Maki was interested and wanted to know more about why you are fluent in English, did you learn the language or do you have a different nationality like him?

• When practice started, Maki noticed that you were hard-working and eager to learn from your seniors, immediately asking K for help when you're having trouble with the choreography or asking Nicho and Euijoo for advice since you are also a rapper (yes, you are a rapper in this).

• During one of the breaks, you even approached Maki to ask for help with your vocals. Maki also found out that you can rap and sing well, just like him. The two of you also talked about the more personal stuff, he got to ask you why you were fluent in English. The two of you also found out multiple similarities between the two of you: you both enjoyed burritos, doing random trends and posting them on tiktok, your love for dogs and animals in general, you two are both very active on social media, etc...

• After the rehearsals for the collab, you and Maki started to develop a friendship. You two exchanged personal social media accounts like Instagram (if you are allowed to) and the two of you would even have some conversation and one of you would mention a new meme or make a reference about a new meme and the other would immediately get it and you two would just laugh about the new memes going around.

• Maki would deny to himself that he was just seeing you as a friend, that's it. But Nicho would definitely think otherwise, he noticed how Maki would look at you with eyes of adoration or how Maki suddenly goes silent when a Luné mentions the collab your group had with them during a live.

• Then your group started a content where your senior groups like Enhypen or Katseye or other groups from the company would come over and film a content where you and your group members can ask for advice about a certain part of being an idol over some snacks (yes, this is inspired by Kickflip's content because I think the idea of this content is super cool and also go stan Kickflip), and one of the episodes is when you &TEAM are your guests.

• Your group members asked some questions but it was mostly you who was asking the questions, which just showed your determination as an idol which Maki really admired. After the filming, Maki even noticed that you were the first to start cleaning the packages of food which now showed him that you also like to keep places clean like him. Maki helped you clean up while your members and the rest of the members of &TEAM purposely let the two of you clean up, not because they were lazy to do so or what, but because they all thought that this would help the two of you form a stronger bond and a stronger friendship...maybe something even more in the future when the two of you are out of the idol spotlight.

growing up next door to maki, you guys were known as the duo. you both were inseparable—you did everything together.

when maki decided he wanted to become an idol, you were the most supportive out of everyone. you stuck by his side through the whole process, and it only made your friendship grow even more.

when he was officially in &team and they had their debut, you were always the first to know everything that was going on — even the things that weren’t supposed to be out to the public yet.

now, a few years after their debut, you not only became friends with his members, but they see you as family as well.

your friendship with maki has also grown, but so have your feelings for him. you can’t help but notice how well maki has been aging. his features are striking — everything about him is attractive.

also, after you stopped getting taller and settled on a height, he just seems to keep growing. he towers over you, which you can’t help but find it undeniably hot when he has to look/lean down to talk to you.

on the other hand, you had a massive glow up too. learning how to take care of your skin, hair, and upping your style, maki can’t deny finding you to be the most beautiful girl he’s seen.

you don’t know that though. both of your feelings for each other has always gone unspoken for. the lingering touches and the admiring glances between you two had always been brushed off, neither of you wanting to confess.

you had always been touchy with each other, never making it weird. that’s why, as you’re sitting abnormally close to maki — practically laying on him — none of his members find it unusual. he has one arm wrapped casually around your waist, trapping you in his hold. you scroll through your phone, watching tiktoks until harua makes his way towards you guys.

you look up, giving him a smile. you feel maki tighten his hold around you as harua places himself next to you on the couch.

“hey y/n, i found some new ideas for our handshake,” harua says. “since we can’t seem to settle on a good one.”

maki tenses up at the mention of a handshake. thats always been your guys’ thing. and as much as he hates to admit it, the thought of you having a handshake with someone else made him incredibly jealous.

“alright, show me what you came up with,” you smile. you try to shift to the side to get a better view, but maki’s tight grip around you makes you unable to move. “maki, could you loosen up a bit? i can’t move.”

“sorry,��� he mutters, not tearing his eyes away from the phone in his hand. he lets go of you ever so slightly, just barely allowing you to turn your body.

you furrow your brows, confused as to why he seems annoyed. you just decide to brush it off, and refocus on harua.

harua shows you his ideas, some of them more complex than the others. after a few minutes of trying to master the complex ones, you eventually decide to settle on the easier movements.

maki watches you both out of the corner of his eye, wishing that it was him making you laugh like harua is.

and not to mention the way your hands are all over each other (peep the hand in handshake), he doesn’t want anyone else touching you other than himself.

he loves but hates the way that his members care for you so much. he misses the times when it was a little awkward between everyone, so he had your full attention all the time.

now, he only gets to talk to you a minimal amount when you’re in the studio with him because his members are always wanting to hang out with you.

your loud laugh snaps him out of his trance, and he sees you grab harua’s arm from laughing so hard.

he looks away, not wanting to get more annoyed. he notices that his jealousy level has been unusually high today, making him quieter than normal.

you also caught onto his quietness earlier in the day, and you just assumed he was having a rough morning.

you had no idea that he was pissed because you were giving other people more attention.

after messing around with harua for another hour or so, everyone completed their daily duties, and decided to head out.

you wait for maki patiently by the door as you bundle up in your coat, preparing yourself to walk home in the cold weather.

after a minute, maki finds you by the door and he holds it open for you, allowing you to walk outside. you’re both silent, as maki’s jealously level hasn’t fallen since the handshake incident.

the tension in the air is too noticeable, and you glance at him as you both make your way down the snowy sidewalk.

“are you okay?” you finally speak up, clouds of smoke coming out of your mouth from how cold the air is.

he only nods.

you stay quiet for a minute, not knowing what to say.

“…did i do something?” you ask, your voice quiet.

“do you like harua?” he blurts out after a moment of silence.

“of course i like harua,” you respond, your voice laced with confusion. “why wouldn’t i?”

“no, not like that,” he shakes his head, keeping his gaze ahead of him. “i mean, do you like-like him.”

“oh- oh. no, maki,” you laugh, but immediately stop when you see that he doesn’t find this amusing. “i love harua, only as a friend. why are you asking?”

another moment of silence.

“you guys just seem.. close. that’s all,” he says, glancing at you for the first time since you left the studio. the glance is piercing, his eyes dark and features slightly tightened. his jaw is clenched, and he keeps his hands in his pockets.

reverting his eyes back to the gloomy and misty sidewalk in front of him, you shiver.

but not from the cold.

“are you jealous or something?” you slightly smile, still wondering why he would be questioning this.

when he doesn’t respond, you start laughing.

“oh my gosh, you are jealous!” you teasingly laugh. “maki, you’re literally my closest friend out of everyone i know. i don’t know why you think that i like harua more than you—“

“that’s not why i’m jealous,” he cuts you off, stopping in his tracks. you stop too, and you both turn to face each other.

“then why are you?”

he lets out a huff, looking everywhere but at you.

“because i like you, okay?”

silence overcomes the two of you again, for the hundredth time today.

“oh.” you’re not sure what to say.

“gosh, i’ve just—“ he pauses, looking around and running a stressed hand through his hair. “i began to like you ever since i told you i wanted to become an idol. you were so supportive of me, i just felt like you were the only person who truly cared for me.”

you reach your hand up in the middle of his speech, and run your fingers through his hair to brush the snowflakes out of it.

“i’ve been too scared to tell you, but seeing you all close with the other members just made me realize that i like having your attention maybe a little too much, and— can you stop that?” he swats at your hand that’s still brushing the snowflakes out.

you pull your hand away, “sorry. continue.”

but instead of continuing, he just stares at you.

silently.

the silence kills him.

“fuck it.”

he grabs the back of your neck and pulls you into him, crashing your lips together. your eyes widen in shock for a moment before they flutter shut as you melt into his touch.

maki lets go of your neck and moves his hands to wrap around your waist, not once breaking the kiss. you place a hand on his chest, and you let the other gently grab his jaw.

you can feel your heart pounding against your chest as the kiss deepens. his lips feel unbelievably soft, and the unusual warmth between the two of you — given that it’s barely even 20° — makes you never want to let go of each other.

you eventually have to though.

as you slowly pull apart, you rest your forehead against his, still holding onto his jaw. maki lets out a sigh of relief that he didn’t know he was holding.

“so…” you pull your head away from him, reluctantly letting go of his jaw.

“don’t even say anything,” he says, and as you pull away, you get a clear view of how flustered he is.

“alright, i won’t,” you shrug, feeling how red your cheeks are too.

you grab his hand, and resume your walk back home in a comfortable silence.
