Advanced Electronic Music Composition: MakeNoise & otherthings

Here you will find my journey along with the MakeNoise CV Bus Shared System in Lasalle College of the Arts Electronic Music BA(Hons) Programme. I will share things about this class which includes some compositions I make and also some patches made with modules of the MakeNoise system. Enjoy!

MakeNoiseMATHS

First Patch: 

Here I am simply using the Maths as a LFO by using channel 1’s cycle function together with the Unity Signal out into the EXPO of the STO, controlling the rise, fall and log/exp knobs.

Second Patch: 

Here I am demonstrating the Rise and Fall CV Controls by patching in different waves from the DPO into the respective CV controls for the rise,fall and both (bipolar)

Third Patch: 

Here I am taking a separate square wave out and doing the same thing with channel 4 on the Maths together with the original Channel 1 configuration, both adding in separate waveforms from the DPO into the bipolar CV controls of Channel 1 and 4. Playing around with the LFO/SYNC/CLOCK function on the DPO also gives variations to different sounds and textures. I hope to learn more about the DPO to be able to have more control over textures of waveforms together with the Maths.

The #FLXS1 covers #milesdavis in a little free jazz number I feel like is a modern interpretation of #calypsofrelimo (see: #supermariobrothers ). Here the FLXS1 is being clocked with the tempi in both x and y axises with differently phased clock signals for a bit of swing. The cv inputs for the channels connected to the #intellijelatlantis and the #mutableelements are being modulated by the #makenoisemaths. Some of the steps are set to arpeggiation mode so you get little interludes of fills. The Cartesian sequencing makes the fills happen with less predictable repetition. http://ift.tt/2mlZlZJ
