Forgetful minds, watchful eyes
For: @makena-harris Location: The Spirit Festival
Thorsiffe had been one of many to volunteer at the spirit festival. Candles were not their customary way of honoring their ancestors and the spirits of the world, but they had never been one to close themself off to the customs of others. To them, the most important thing was that these rituals were held and celebrated as a community, and as such they were more than happy to not only participate but help out as well.
The mysterious mark that had appeared upon their chest had dampened their mood though. Like a cold fog rolling over the hills, filling your nose and laying thick upon your tongue, before dawn's light could reach warm your skin and bring color to your eyes. They had no idea how it had appeared upon their chest. Gwen had not either, even though she had gone to sleep next to them the night it had found its way upon their chest.
Looking at it, just thinking of it, made them feel uneasy. As if a predator was skulking just outside their vision. A predator whose face they should recognize, but couldn't.
They'd pushed all those thoughts to the back of their mind, to the best of their abilities. Rather than letting the cursed mark ruin the festival, Thorsiffe wore it on full display. An act of defiance against the mark and how it made them feel, in some esoteric way.
They wore a low-cut crop top. Aside from the strange mark, the tattoos covering most of their torso were proudly displayed, and that knowledge brought some further comfort and courage to Thorsiffe. The cold had never bothered them either, and they were smiling from ear to ear as they were handing out candles, no matter the looks their odd choice of attire might've earned them.
A familiar face joined them behind the stand, and Thorsiffe's smile curled up into a grin. "Makena, hey! Nice seeing you here."

the only one
pairings: zach x reader
warnings? nah. angst. emotional shit. swear words. fighting. blood.
summary: hi! can i have an imagine with zach where they’ve been dating for a long time but for some apparent reason zach is mad at her and keeps ignoring her so when the boys and her go to a party and there’s this guy who’s all over her and the reader is like struggling to get out of his grip and zach comes in and beats him up? ahaha and later when the reader tread his injuries, zach apologizes for being a dick and just fluff? thanks hon! 💘
requested? um yes!
i had no idea what i had done wrong. but i could tell from the read messages and the missed calls, there was something up with Zach. a year and a half we’ve been dating, i know him like the back of my hand but for some reason i didn’t know what was going on with him. i sighed, placing my phone down again, being ignored.
“everything ok?” my mom asked walking into my bedroom after hearing me sigh frustratingly. i looked up at her from where i lay on my bed and sighed again.
“something’s wrong with zach.” i replied. “he’s ignoring me.”
“have you tried texting him?”
“yes.”
“ringing him?”
“yes.”
“what about going over to his house?” mom suggested. “maybe he isn’t feeling well.”
“i’ve been trying to get a hold of him for two days, mom.” i huffed. “if he wanted to see me, i’m sure he would’ve made it known.”
mom sighed. “well, you don’t know if you don’t try, y/n.”
i groaned in response, knowing she was right. “fine.” i sat up and sent him a quick text to inform him that i would be making my way over. i didn’t even bother waiting for a response as i made my way into my car to drive to the compound. the worst feeling in the world is when you don’t feel wanted, and whilst driving over, my mind was yelling at me that he no longer wants to be together. he’s bored of me, i bet.
i pulled up outside the boys house a little way later and sighed. i sat in my car, not knowing what to do. in the end, i plucked up some courage and made my way towards the front door, knocking on it. the door swiftly opened to reveal Aspen in a bathing suit. oh. oh.
“hey, y/n.” she greeted.
“oh, hey.” i replied, surprised because i had no idea that she’s here. “how are you?”
“good.” she replied. “you?”
“i’m fine. i was wondering if Zach was home?” i asked.
“yeah.” she smiled. “he’s in the back garden. we’re having a pool day, are you gonna join?”
“i would but i don’t have a bathing suit. and i only really came over here to speak to Zach.”
“of course.” she replied, opening the door wider for me to walk in. i thanked her and made my way into the back garden where Zach was sunbathing, Daniel was next to him and Corbyn, Jack and Jonah were in the pool. i walked over to the two lounging boys and tried to hold in my tears when i saw Zach roll his eyes once he saw me. why is he being so hostile towards me? i don’t understand.
“hey.” i said walking over.
“hi.” Zach replied bluntly.
“can we talk?”
“not really. i’m busy.”
i felt the tears prick my eyes, watching as Daniel got up and jumped in the pool, most probably trying to get away from the awkward situation. “Zach?”
“what?” he huffed, finally looking at me.
“is everything ok?” i asked, going to take a step towards him but thought better not when i saw him stand up and place his arms over his chest.
“yes.”
“well, if everything’s fine then why have you been ignoring me?”
“because i don’t need to update you twenty-four seven, y/n. i’m not a child.” he replied. “now are we done? i was enjoying my day.”
“oh.” i sighed, hearing his choice of words. he clearly doesn’t want to date me. i wiped a tear away, my heart felt heavy and my chest felt tight. i watched as he walked past me and towards the pool. “do you still want to be my boyfriend?” no reply. i hate how clingy i sound. “Zach?” ignored. again.
i rolled my eyes at his childish behaviour. and he says he’s not a child. i walked back inside the house, needing to get away from the situation before i have a mental breakdown. i was about to leave the door when Jack came running up behind me.
“y/n, wait.” he said, standing next to me.
“no, Jack.” i sighed, hearing my voice crack. “i’ve waited a couple of days, he doesn’t want to talk to me. i’m not going to wait around for him to be a child. if he wants me, he knows where to find me.”
“just talk it out.”
“i tried. i drove all the way here for nothing.”
“fine.” Jack sighed. “i’ll try talking to him.”
“thank you.” i replied before i walked out of the house.
“why?” i asked my best friend, Gina, watching as she pulled out a couple of dresses from my wardrobe. “why are we going to a party?”
“because, it’s one of your best friends birthday. and you’ve been in a slump for like four days.” she replied, looking at a blue dress before placing it back in my closet.
“the reason i’m in a slump will be at that party. i’m not going.” i replied, pulling my duvet back up over my body. Gina sighed, pulling it back off of me.
“it’s Jonah’s birthday.” she sighed. “you know he’ll be sad if you’re not there. you don’t have to go anywhere near Zach because i’ll be there for you girly.”
“Gina. Zach is going to be there and i don’t even know if we’re in a relationship anymore. the last thing i want to do is go to a party where he’s gonna be and pretend to have a good time.”
“but you are going to have a good time and forget that boys can be real dicks.” she smiled. “so let’s get you looking smoking hot to remind Zach that you are not someone to be messed with.”
i sighed in defeat, getting out of my bed. i was actually amazed at Gina’s choices of outfits to wear and spotted the outfit that i wanted to wear. i quickly got changed into the dress. it was a beautiful off the shoulder, red dress that showed a little bit of boob, was tight and went to mid-thigh. i felt so sexy.
“oh my word.” Gina said staring at me as i dressed in black heels and pulled my hair up into a bun. “you look so good.”
“why thank you.” i smiled looking at her in her pink dress. we both made our way to the car and drove towards the boys house, getting ready to party.
walking in, i was surprised as to how busy the house was, but i also wasn’t surprised at the same time considering they’re famous. i spotted Zach across the room, talking to Gabbie and Jack, but i ignored him and grabbed a drink of soda. Gina was still by my side which i was grateful.
“Gina! y/n!” Jonah said walking over. “glad you made it.”
“happy birthday!” i replied, giving him a hug. Gina repeated my actions and i watched with a smile as i handed Jonah my gift. it was a simple band to go over his wrist, engraved with a harry potter saying. he gave me a really tight hug, thanking me over and over again.
Gina and I made our way further into the party, drinking loads of coca-cola, dancing and talking to the Why Don’t We girls. i spent most of my evening with Christina, Gabbie, Gina and Anna. i didn’t even think twice about Zach despite seeing him around the house at mutliple different occasions.
“how are you feeling?” Gina asked, whilst we danced.
“good. great. thank you for dragging me here.” i smiled at her.
“girls, let’s take a picture.” Christina called over at us. Gina and I made our way into the back garden where the rest of the Why Don’t We girls were. i placed myself in between Makena and Gina, smiling at the phone that was taking the pictures. after half an hour of photoshoots, i stood up and was making my way over to Daniel to take a picture with him when my heel got stuck in the grass. i groaned, yanking it out but in the process, tripped over and cut my left leg up on some random rock.
i laughed at myself, sitting up on the floor. straight away, i could feel a pain in my left leg, looking down i saw that it was bleeding. i laughed again, watching as Corbyn, Daniel, Gina and Anna came running over.
“you ok?” Corbyn asked. “oh my god that’s a lot of blood.”
“it’s just a scratch.” i replied. Daniel helped my stand up, and i could feel the blood running down my leg.
“i don’t think you’re aware of this, but i think i can see your bone.” Corbyn continued.
i rolled my eyes, laughing. “shut up.”
“no, it is really bad, y/n.” Daniel said. “let’s go get you cleaned up.”
“no. i’m fine.”
“there’s literally a pool of blood forming in your shoe.” Anna said, making me roll my eyes.
“fine.” i sighed. Daniel helped me walk upstairs to one of the bathrooms, sitting me down on the toilet. i looked down at my leg in the light and realised it was actually worse than i thought. but it wasn’t hospital or stich worthy.
“where is she!” someone yelled. i rolled my eyes watching as Gina stormed into the bathroom. “jesus, y/n. why are you so clumsy?”
“i don’t know.” i replied, watching as Daniel began cleaning my leg up. “ow.”
“sorry.” he replied when i flinched from the sting.
“should i get Zach?” Gina asked.
“no! i’m fine. i don’t need Zach. Daniel’s here to clean me up.”
“fine.” Gina sighed, taking a seat on the floor next to Daniel. “i hope it doesn’t hurt too much because the dance tunes are really coming out and i need to dance with somebody.”
“nothing will stop me from dancing.” i replied. “i’m having a lot of fun.”
“despite not going anywhere near Zach?” Daniel asked. i looked down at him and rolled my eyes, watching as he now placed a bandage on the cut.
“yes. despite pretending he doesn’t exist.”
“but he’s your boyfriend.”
“is he?” i replied, standing up. “now if you’ll excuse me. i’m about to dance my ass off.” i grabbed Gina’s hand and pulled her back downstairs. i pretended that my heart didn’t skip a beat when i locked eyes with Zach, his face was filled with concern as he looked at my leg. i rolled my eyes at him and grabbed a fresh cup, handing one to Gina.
“he’s looking at you.” Gina yelled in my ear as i dragegd her towards the dance floor.
“i know!” i replied. “it doesn’t matter.”
“talk to him!”
“no!” i replied. “can i just have fun?”
“fine.” she sighed, pulling me closer to her so we could dance together.
after hours of dancing, i decided to take a break and go into the kitchen to grab myself more soda. i was super energetic but also so tired, my body was confused.
“hey.” someone said over the music to me. i looked up to see some random guy staring at me, someone who i’ve never met before.
“hey.” i replied, trying to be polite. he was taller than me, but not by much. he was blonde and wore dark clothing, i noticed that he also had both his ears pierced and was wearing a leather jacket.
he looked down at my leg before pointing at it. “is your leg ok?”
“oh yeah.” i replied. “i was clumsy and fell over but i’m all ok now.” i tried not to glare at him as he lent over me and grabbed a drink, not looking away from me as he sipped it.
“good to know. can’t let a pretty girl like you get hurt.” he smiled. i blushed awkwardly, feeling a little bit uncomfortable. “so, do you know the birthday boy?”
“um yeah. he’s one of my best friends.”
“really?” he asked. “i’ve known Jonah for like two years now. what’s your name? maybe Jonah has mentioned you to me before.”
“oh. i doubt it. my name is y/n.”
“Roger.” he replied, holding his hand out for me to shake. i tried hard not to snort at his name, it’s such an old name. i shook his hand and was surprised when he lent down and pulled it close, giving it a kiss. oh my god, he’s actually an old, traditional man.
“nice to meet you, y/n. a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”
“thanks.” i replied. “i should go back to my friends.”
“no, wait.” he replied, grabbing my arm and pulling me closer towards him. i stumbled slightly, falling into him. “i want to get to know you better.”
“oh.” i mumbled, trying to pull my hand out of his grasp but he wouldn’t let it go. he lent back on the counter behind him, moving his hand down to my waist so that i was now stood inbetween his legs. “can you let go of me?”
“sure.” he replied, only holding me softer now. i blushed, feeling so uncomfortable. i looked around and was surprised to see that i knew no one else who was stood in the kitchen. “so, you single?”
“it’s complicated.”
“what does that mean?” he asked, eyes fluttering down to my lips. i tried to pull out of his grip again but he still held me close. i know my hip was going to bruise from his fingers.
“it means what i just said.”
“c’mon babe. you’ve got to give me more than that.”
“no. i need to go. it was nice meeting you.” i said. what a lie. he held me tighter and lent down to my ear.
“don’t go. i want to show you a good time.” he whispered in my ear.
“no thank you.”
“i wasn’t asking.” he grinned at me. i scoffed, placing my cup down so i could use my free hand to get his own off of my body. but he grabbed my wrist before i could do anything.
“stop it.” i mumbled, struggling against him. his grip on my body tightened and i knew there were bruises. “please.”
“hm.” he hummed. “i like the way you beg.”
“you’re being a creep. get off me. i don’t know you.”
“shut up.” he mumbled, leaning his head down to my neck so that he could place his mouth all over it. i could feel my eyes water as i kept struggling to get away from him. i was terrified, my body was shaking and all i wanted to do was crawl up in a ball and cry.
“stop it.” i pleaded, trying to get him off of my neck. “please. stop. you’re hurting me.” i cried, feeling the tears stream down my face. why was no one in the kitchen helping me? they should be able to see i’m uncomfortable and trying to put up a fight. he’s knee knocked against my sore leg and i groaned, but that only made him moan as he sucked on my neck, surely going to leave a hickey.
“um. you’re so pretty baby.”
“stop it.” i cried.
“i don’t want to.” he simply replied. my body relaxed in defeat. he’s so much stronger than me, i wasn’t going to win this fight. i cried and cried, not knowing what to do. i was surprised when i felt another pair of hands grab my waist and pull me back. i stumbled into another counter behind me and before i could comprehend anything, i saw a brown haired boy punching Roger.
“y/n!” Corbyn said running over to me. he stood in front of me, i looked over his shoulder and saw that Zach was the one punching Roger. they were clearly in a fight and i couldn’t help but scream when i saw Roger hitting Zach repeatdly.
“Zach.” i mumbled, trying to get out of Corbyn and Jack’s arms - who ran over as soon as he heard the commotion. the kitchen was filled with grunts from the two boys who were fighting.
“why the fuck did you touch her?” Zach yelled, punching Roger to the floor. “fucking pervert!”
“Zach!” Jonah and Daniel yelled, trying to get him off of the other boy.
“stop.” i mumbled, looking over Jack’s shoulder. “stop it. Zach. please, don’t hurt him.”
“y/n.” Jack said to me. “we need to get you upstairs. we need to get you away from the situation.”
“no.” i cried out.
“don’t you touch her, you creep!” Zach yelled. “i’ll kill you!”
“Zach, dude!” Daniel yelled.
“stop it!” i yelled. “Zach, stop! you’re scaring me! ZACH!”
in a split second he relaxed, turning his bloodied face to look at me. Daniel managed to pull him off of Roger, who was being grabbed by Jonah. Zach’s face softened as he walked towards me, but Jack and Corbyn stood in front of me.
“leave!” i heard Jonah yell at Roger.
“bu-!”
“fucking leave!” he yelled, pracitcally shoving Roger out of the door,
“Zach.” Jack mumbled. “you need to calm down and get cleaned up.”
“i’ll take y/n upstairs.” Corbyn told him.
“no.” Zach replied. “no. let me talk to her.”
“Zach.” they both tried to reason, probably thinking i was still scared. i stepped out from behind them, wiping my eyes.
“it’s fine.” i mumbled. the boys tried to protest against me but i stopped them. “it’s fine. i’m fine. just, please, let me clean him up.” they all sighed in defeat as i grabbed Zach’s hand, pulling him behind me as i made my way upstairs and into the bathroom that Daniel cleaned me up in. i sat him down on the toilet lid, going into the bathroom cabinet to grab a flannel.
i placed it under some water and looked over at Zach, he was staring at the ground, fiddling with his thumbs. i knelt down in front of him, making him look at me for the first time. we both had tears in our eyes, but i ignored the achy feeling in my heart. i placed the flannel on his lip that was now busted, his cheek was also cut and his right eye was forming a nice bruise. he flinched when i placed it on his lip, but i held the back of his head to keep him still.
“i’m sorry.” he mumbled.
“don’t be.” i replied, in the same tone. “i’m glad you stopped him. i gave up.”
“not just about that.” he said through small tears. “i’m sorry for being such a dickhead recently. i’ve been ignoring you and treating you like shit, i haven’t been a good boyfriend and that’s clear because of what happened tonight. if i just spoke to you, this wouldn’t have happened and i wouldn’t be feeling like it’s all my fault and he never would’ve come near you.”
“Zach.” i mumbled. “what happened tonight wasn’t your fault, ok?”
“but it was.” he cried, grabbing my hand that was cleaning him. he held my hand in both his own. “it was all my fault. i’ve been such a shitty boyfriend because work has gotten me so stressed and i feel overwhelmed and depressed and there was nothing i could do, except take it out on you. i didn’t mean for this to happen, y/n. i didn’t mean to make you question our relationship because i love you. so much. i’ll do anything for you.”
i couldn’t help but let the tears fall down my face. “i love you. god, i wish you would’ve told me sooner. i would’ve helped you, you know that.”
“i do.” he cried. “i do.”
“let me clean you up.” i mumbled, moving up to his cheek so that i could now clean that. he stared at me, moving my hair away from my face so that he could take a closer look at my neck.
“i can’t believe he touched you. fucking prick. if i ever see him again i’m going to knock him out.”
“Zach. i don’t think he’s ever going to be in our lives.” i sighed, looking up at him.
“he left a mark on you. shit. only i can do that. i’m so angry.”
“i know. but i need you to calm down because he’s gone, ok? hopefully i won’t ever have to see him again. i feel so gross knowing that he’s left a mark, but i’m yours, Zach. i’m all yours.”
“fucking right.” he replied, grabbing my face so that he could give me a kiss. i smiled against his lips, despite tasting metal from his bleeding lip. i kissed him like i’ve never kissed him before. “fuck, i love you.”
“i love you.”

Between the world and me
Theology Of hope
““ If you like someone, wait.

Give lots of compliments, even if you’re shy. Everyone else is too.

Change. Get a haircut, try new perfume, get new sheets. Become better than you were before.
Eat healthier. Learn to cook something fancy.

Get up earlier and watch the sun come up.

Wear soft clothes, take a bath, drink something warm.

Meet someone new, even just a friend.

Become closer with your friends and your family. Call your mother. Cry with your best friend. Tell everyone how much you appreciate them.

Keep your room clean. Buy some candles. Let the natural light in.

Make a list of reasons why you’ll be better off without them. Believe they are true, because they are.

Listen to new music.

Write everything you’re thinking and feeling. Write letters. Write happy letters, sad letters, and angry letters, even if you’re never going to send them.

It’s okay to be sad, but not forever. Sadness is not as beautiful as music makes it seem. Lack of sleep makes your eyes droopy, not deep. Wake up every morning and tell yourself you’re going to have a good day.

Go to the library. Don’t forget to look in the music section.

Remove them from your life. Get rid of the things they gave you if they make you sad. They’re not worth it. You will never be happy if you continue to hold on to the things that make you sad.

Make new memories.

Try to find something to appreciate in everything you do or experience.

Being alone is okay, you don’t have to surround yourself with people.

Become your own best friend. Buy yourself coffee and drink it alone in a cafe. Take your time.

Learn to love every bit of yourself."
““your eyes do not twinkle like stars,
nor does your kiss light sparks upon my lips.
your touch doesn’t set my skin ablaze,
nor does your hair shine like woven gold.
your words are not like song to my ears,
nor does your smile make my knees weak.
but your eyes do look into mine with love,
and your kiss makes my heart beat faster.
your touch brings a smile to my lips,
and your hair is soft as my fingers run through it.
your words make me smile and sometimes make me blush,
and your smile brings me joy, and makes me smile as well.
you may not be perfect, you may not be the angel of my fantasy,
but you are the angel of my reality, and i love you.”

o_O so my best friend’s name means “pure and wise” or “lion’s share”
cool
No name is actually ghetto.
To a white person or a POC with a heavy anti-black complexity due to white supremacy, it is not the actual name of the person or the way it is spelled which they consider ghetto, it is the person themselves whole. What makes the name ghetto is not how it sounds or it place of origin, but the black body it is attached to.
Which also Attributes to why white people can name their children “Haley/Haleigh/Hailey/Halley/Hallie” or “Megan/Meagan/Meghan/Meaghan/Maygan”; even the not so ordinary names like ‘Lakelyn’ ‘Ashlyn’ etc etc without batting an eye, because it is attached to a white woman’s body.
It’s why a black child named ‘Asia’ is considered an extreme, but a white child can be named ‘Montana’, the name of a southern state, it’s perfectly normal.
Where as if this woman was BLACK and her name is “Ashleigh”, people would make commentary often about how ‘unique’ the spelling of her name is or how black people are always making up new names of spellings of words.
Love the names your parents gave you. If someone says it’s “ghetto”, I guess you just found out who is racist and who you won’t need or respect later in life.
If you are foreign to a country, DO NOT take a nickname some lazy, ignorant, bigot white person tries to give you. MAKE THEM learn your name, no names are actually that difficult, it’s the mentality that stops a person from learning the correct pronunciation of a name.
Can we stop using “ghetto” as an adjective, it’s a fucking noun. It’s a PLACE, not a characteristic. “
☺️ All summer in a day ☺️

Send ❤️ for a romantic kiss. (Emma)
— ❋ kiss a Cas!
The perks of being a rockstar was that you often had unlimited access to the stage after a gig –– with reason of course. Well, Caspian’s gigs had long ago become concerts, but in his mind they would always be that. An intimate gathering for people to connect over song and music. It was after a show one night, and Caspian had spent the evening in good spirits despite how exhausted he had been. Emma had come and watched, Makena at home with his fathers. The night was their’s and Caspian was still so high from the event he knew he wouldn’t be sleeping.
Not like he slept on concert nights anyway, but this was beyond that. The place had cleared out, leaving only the clean up crew on the stage while Caspian took Emma’s hand. He placed a finger to his lips and shushed her as they hid behind a large black box of equipment. The last man of the take down crew leaving to go for a smoke break. Waiting for the sound of the door closing behind the man, Caspian looked to Emma and pulled her towards centre stage, giving gentle reminders to watch her feet.

❝ See? It seems so much bigger from down here. ❞ He explained, still holding her hand as they looked out towards the red padded seats of the arena. Trash littered the floor in front of them while Caspian chuckled. ❝ It actually looks smaller when the lights are turned out, most of the time I can only see the first few rows. ❞ He explained, and being as Emma was, she grew cheeky. She smiled trotting away from him and running her fingers along one of the mic stands still standing. He watched her, eyes glowing with affection.
❝ The lights don’t make it hard to see? ❞ She asked, temptation written all over her as she circled the mic stand with a small chuckle.           ❝ No. ❞ He replied, watching her with a smile of his own.           ❝ What about the screaming fans? Don’t they make it hard to hear? ❞          ❝ A little, but I hear the important things. ❞          ❝ Like what? ❞          ❝ Like you. ❞ The words come without missing a beat, smiling as it brought her pause, looking over at him. She didn’t believe him, not a for a second. She popped her hip and crossed her arms over her chest –– a challenge and he knew it.
          ❝ Oh really? ❞          ❝ Mhm. ❞          ❝ Alright, prove it. ❞
His smile grew and he slowly began to walk towards her, minding the cords at his feet. ❝ You we’re standing right there for the intro. ❞ He began, looking towards a spot off to the side of the front row. ❝ You watched with a smile on your face for the longest time –– I actually think you forgot to blink. ❞ He teases, a smirk, a narrow of his eyes. She meets him with a smile, twisting her hips –– the action subconsciously bringing her closer to him as he continues to agonizingly close the distance. ❝ You ran off sometime during the song I Want To Live… You came back half way through Imperfection. ❞ He explained, confidence gleaming in his eyes.
Tumblr media
❝ And just after Never Surrender, you had tears in your eyes–– ❞ He brings her closer, hands reaching, fingers tucking her hair behind her ear. ❝ –– And you told me that you loved me. In a room full of thousands of people, only one sentence reached me. You Emma… It’s always you. ❞ He finished, bringing their foreheads together for a gentle touch. She couldn’t stop smiling, a hand coming to run her fingers along the stubble of his jaw line as she giggled.
❝ Maybe you can hear it better now then… Without everyone screaming. ❞ She mused, smiling. ❝ I love you, Caspian Bengal. ❞ She chuckled, the act a giddy one she couldn’t control and one she wasn’t used to. He smiled brighter and laughed along with her, the sound cut short before he pulled her in tight against him and tipped his chin forward; lips locking. He inhaled heavily through his nose and squeezed her tightly –– forgetting about the fact the crew member would be back any second now.    // @1000liveslived

Sleepless Nights (Lin-Manuel Miranda x Reader)
Prompt: None. I’ve been stirring over this baby for weeks now. I’m not even proud of it. But you’re getting it anyways.
Summary: Sleep deprivation and pharmacies.
Word Count: 1,912 (why though. how though.)
Author’s Note: I did not proofread nor plan out this fic. I’m sure you’ll be able to tell as you read. (I feel my self-deprecation will prevent people from reading… Read anyways! Prove me wrong (or right!))
Warnings: Cursing (of course)
12:31 a.m.
Revving engines from the presumably barren roadways below had awaken you from your much needed slumber. A soggy, half-eaten turkey sandwich lay beside your mess of papers that lie askew. An empty styrofoam cup, once filled with Red Bull and caffeinated coffee, now rolls along the hardwood office floor as the warm stream of air from the heater sends it along. A computer screen illuminates the darkened bags beneath your eyes.
This was not a prime moment of yours.
For the past few days, you have been working non-stop on an incredulously urgent proposal needed to move forward with a research project. Your colleagues weren’t able to start on anything until this paper was finished in its entirety. Your ass was on the line, and your boss never took any shit. She was hard on you, sure, but you liked to think it was because she saw potential in you.
Maybe that wasn’t the case.
Either way, that paper needed to be finished before the sun peaked over the tranquil skyline of the city. Until the gigantic ball of gas and impending doom made its way into your view, you were determined to crank out some intricate, well-put sentences on a nearly blank sheet of paper. You made it clear to the office’s deafening silence that you were going to kick this paper’s ass. After another energy drink, that is.
1:04 a.m.
You were still a bit groggy from your inexcusable nap break; a quick trip to the nearby drug store was more than imminent. With the crisp New York City breeze slapping you across the face all along the sidewalk, an energy boost may not even be necessary. You grabbed ahold of your bearings, threw on your rust-orange peplum coat, and slung on your crossbody. You locked the office doors before heading out for a few moments. The subtle fiddling of the keys in your chilled hands kept your focus on something other than the significant winter’s chill.
The click, click of your heels on the pavement was accompanied by the faint screech of tires trekking across worn-out pavement. For the most part, the street on which your place of employment lied was quiet. Well, quiet for the city, you suppose. It was on a back road, an adequate starting point for drag racing, as you discovered earlier. Luckily, a corner store stood a block away, making refreshing simple, especially when you pulled all-nighters at the office.
1:23 a.m.
You muzzily shuffled into the store, rubbing your eyes while adjusting to the fluorescent lights. Makena, the cashier with whom you have grown close, smiled when she saw you walk into the store.
“Someone looks a bit out of it,” she commented.
You chuckled softly, adding, “To say the least.”
The small 5-hour energy bottle sat upon the front counter. You trudged over, grabbing one and placing it in front of Makena.
“You’re gonna have to wait in line, sweetheart,” she mentioned before beckoning her head to the right.
You turned, only to find a man holding a large, circular box of sweets and a pink card. He seemed just as worn out as you, though the bags beneath his eyes were overshadowed by his gentle eyes.
“Oh! I’m so sorry,” you said frantically as you stepped out of his way.
He smiled. “No worries, I’m in the same boat,” he stated as he placed the card and candy on the counter. “It took me three minutes to find the card aisle. Lack of sleep really takes a toll on the mind,” he mentioned. You laughed.
“Will this be all?” she asked the man. “We have nice plush toys in the back. There’s a koala that holds a balloon saying ‘I love you beary much!’”
He pursed his lips and nodded. “I am a fan of the idea, though koalas aren’t bears.”
Makena furrowed her brows. “Hmph,” she turned to you. “My life is a lie.”
You chuckled. The messy-haired gent grinned. “While my mother is a big fan of Australian creatures, I’m going to have to pass.”
Makena tilted her head. “Look, I’m not trying to pry or anything, but…” she gestured toward the items on the counter. “Does your mom have you in the dog house?”
His eyes widened as he raised his hands side-to-side. “No! It’s not like that, I just…” he scratched the back of his neck. “I forgot her birthday. I’m trying to make up for it,” he sighed, continuing, “with mediocre drug store products.”
“Mediocre?” Makena frowns. “That one hurts. Are my four dollar chocolates not up to par for your mother’s forgettable birthday?”
“One time! I forgot once,” he noted, eyes wide. “Okay, twice, but at least I almost remembered this time. I’m incredibly grateful for this store and its high quality products.” He smiled. It looked genuine enough.
Makena smiled back. “Mhm. Your total will be $6.03.”
“Would you add an energy shot for your fatigued friend back there?” He jabbed a thumb towards the place where you stood. “I’ve wasted enough of her time yakking on about my forgetfulness.”
Makena smirked and nodded. “Your new total is $11.36.”
He smiled as he paid and collected up the birthday gifts and the bottle of over-caffeination. He turned and handed you the 5-hour energy.
“I appreciate your putting up with my story,” he remarked.
You flashed him a smile. “My pleasure. I do enjoy a good story; the complementary energy drink was a nice touch. The name’s Y/N,” you mentioned, holding out your hand.
“Lin-Manuel,” the shaggy-haired fellow stated as he struggled to hold his purchases with one hand. “Though ‘Lin’ is just fine.”
The two of you head out side-by-side. You turned back and saw Makena wink at you, throwing in a thumbs-up. You playfully rolled your eyes and stepped out the door.
1:56 a.m.
“Where are you headed?” Lin asked.
“A few blocks west of here. I have to get back to my lab to finish a report,” you said, rubbing your temple, trying to inhibit your ineludible future headache.
“I’m off that way as well. Mind if I join you?”
“That would be nice.”
A silence swung between you both for a few minutes as you walked along, until Lin spoke up.
“May I ask what your research is about?”
You nodded while focusing on your footing. There were few lights along the road. “I’m set to start a study of the development of synthetic hormones, and I can’t start without this paper written to completion.” You let out a heavy breath. “Also, it must be completed,” you checked your watch. “…within the next six hours.”
“Oh, dear,” Lin whispered. “It’s too bad there isn’t a ‘six-hour energy’ drink. Tsk tsk.”
You let out a snort. “As of right now, I’ll take anything, as long as it isn’t coffee from a four-year-old machine,” you shook your head. “My last cup had grounds in the bottom. It was rather chewy,” you stated, shaking your head. “Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.”
Lin’s threw his head back in laughter. “The machines are already planning our demise; perhaps a robotic apocalypse is upon us.”
“If only,” you exhaled. “In that case, I would be worrying about how to correctly dismantle a rouge microwave rather than figure how to sort scientific words into insightful sentences.” Lin chuckled in response.
The silence shoved its way back in between the both of you. After a lulled few minutes, Lin turned to you.
“I’m an English major.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Congratulations..?”
Lin laughed softly. “No, I mean… I’m rather experienced in the paper-writing process. I teach seventh grade English classes,” he uncomfortably shifted his items in his arms. “If you find yourself in a jam, I’d be happy to help you put together a paper.”
“While I am a genius in the field of science, I am, to put it lightly, shit at writing. I’ll be sure to keep the offer in mind. If you need help putting together a genuine birthday present, I’m your guy,” you replied.
To that, Lin sniggered. “I’d need your number in order to take you up on that offer. Or an email. I’m flexible,” he smirked.
Damn. He was good.
You grabbed Lin’s arm to stop him with one hand while pulling a pen from your bag with the other. With numb fingers, you took Lin’s free hand and scribbled down your number.
“Next time, I’d suggest going with Hallmark,” you remarked.
Lin smiled, which, of course, in turn, led you to smile back. How was this guy’s smile so contagious?
You sighed, noticing that you were already at your building. “This is my stop,” you noted.
Lin frowned. “It was a pleasure to have accompanied you on your walk.”
You grinned subtly as you unlocked the doors and headed in. “I appreciate the company.”
“I’ll call you?” Lin called.
You caught the door closing behind you, replying, “I’ll pick up.”
He turned, bouncing a bit as he walked.
2:37 a.m.
You head to your computer, starting up the document once again. Surprisingly, you didn’t need the energy drink. You felt awake, refreshed even, after conversing with the shaggy-haired fellow. Less than seven minutes into your frantic typing, your cell rang, startling you. You grabbed it, noticing the words “Unknown Number” that flashed across your screen, and answered.
“Y/N Y/L/N speaking,” you said.
“Aha! I got it right this time,” exclaimed the voice from the other line.
“Is this Lin?”
“Yes! Sorry, I was a tad overexcited. I may have accidentally called a grumpy old woman just a minute ago. I had a little trouble deciphering your number,” Lin commented, adding a chuckle.
“What can I do you for?”
“Actually, I was looking to aid you in your scientific endeavour.”
“I’m in no need of a Prince Charming to save my ass, Mr. Lin-Manuel.”
“No! I mean-”
“Only joking. Now, how does one put together a coherent sentence?”
4:22 a.m.
Lin sped things up. Significantly. Within two hours, the two of you had strung together a magnificent paper. Not only would this please your hard-ass boss, but listening to a sleepy-voiced Lin was a plus as well.
“I can’t thank you enough for helping me. Not only am I actually prepared for work, I may get three hours of sleep in,” you expressed.
“Trust me, I understand the agony. I’ve been in the same situation several times too many. Now, I ought to leave you to get some much-needed rest. I hope your project goes well!”
You smiled. “Thanks to your help, I’m sure it will.”
“We’ll talk soon,” Lin stated, and you both hung up.
How the hell would this have ever gotten done without this guy?
1:13 p.m.
To: Lin-Manuel
No need for ass-kissing today - that paper did it all for me. Won’t ever be able to repay you.
Note: not skipping work to text. In the middle of lunch break.
From: Lin-Manuel
Instead of repayment, how about meeting me for coffee after work?
To: Lin-Manuel
Another caffeine-filled evening? No thanks.
I’ll see you at the pizza place on 41st. Be there or b² .
From: Lin-Manuel
A scientist with mad algebraic jokes? There’s no one else I’d rather join at a greasy pizza joint.

jingle ball - JM.
pairings: reader x jonah marais
warnings? nope.
summary: you were supporting your boyfriend at one of his shows on the Jingle Ball Tour, and certain events made you feel upset.
requested? sorta. i was given the idea by someone who im not entirely too sure if they want their name to be put out. but they know who they are! thank you!
MSG. Madison Square Garden. My boyfriend was performing at the MSG tonight, for the first time, with his band, who have only been together for a little bit over a year. Life is crazy.
I pulled up outside of the arena in my Uber, just seeing the stadium being filled with people was enough to make me want to cry. Words will never be able to say how proud I am of Jonah, and obviously the other boys. I sent a quick text to Jonah so that someone could come and get me.
I stood by the back door for a minute, before I was met with the face of David. He gave me a lanyard that I would put on so that people backstage knew I was a guest of Why Don’t We. We walked towards their ‘green room’, David opened the door and I was surprised to see that it was filled to the brim with the boys, their crew and their families.
“(y/n)!” Jonah said walking over to me. Unfortunately his family couldn’t make it but luckily I could. He walked over to me and engulfed me in a hug, I hadn’t seen him for the longest time and now that I could finally hold him again made it so much better. I gave him a quick peck before greeting everyone else in the room. There is so many people.
The show was about to start, so everyone who wasn’t Why Don’t We and their crew left to go to their seats. I wished the boys good luck before leaving with Christina, Ashley and Corbyn’s mom. We did have seats that we were meant to sit in but we decided to go to the front and thankfully no one stopped us. Perks of being a guest of the band.
———
The boys were about to come on stage and I thought I was going to pass out. So far, I had died a little bit whenever a new artist came on stage, I screamed like I’ve never screamed before and I may have cried at Niall Horan. The lights dimmed and I screamed, so loudly. I think Christina, Ashley and I’s screams combined, as well as the rest of the Why Don’t We family who are now at the front, made everyone around us deaf.
I shed a tear of proudness when I saw the boys silhouettes go to their respective places. The intro gave me goosebumps, the lights, the atmosphere, it was great.
“That’s our boyfriends!” I yelled, recording Jonah and Corbyn as well as Christina. Everyone was a blubbering mess, screaming loudly. Everyone had their phones out recording as Corbyn began to sing Air of the Night.
When Jonah’s solo began I screamed so loudly I think I pulled a muscle in my neck. I was so unbelievably proud. Not only of Jonah but all of the boys. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and facetimed Esther so that their family can watch Jonah perform at MSG.
When they started singing Nobody Gotta Know I lost my shit a little bit. Anyone who was around us, not knowing who we are probably thought that we were batshit crazy. I turned around to Anna, both of us clung on to each other, smiling from ear to ear as we watched my boyfriend and her brother perform. Nobody will ever be able to put into words how unbelievably proud we are, how proud all of us are.
They finished their set with These Girls, I screamed my head off and definitely lost my voice. Corbyn blew Christina and his family a kiss, tapping all of the other boys so that they could do the same. I looked over to Jonah who sent me a wink and blew a kiss at me. I blushed like crazy because somehow this boy still managed to make me fall in love all over again no matter what he did.
———
Everyone decided to go backstage to greet the boys, I followed Christina and Ashley as we walked back to their green room. We got to their room before them because they had a couple of interviews to do, so I waited outside their room in the hallway with the whole Seavey family plus Sydnie, Ava and Makena.
I saw them in the distance, beaming like they had just won the lottery, but in their eyes I imagine that’s what it feels like to them. The were talking excitedly amongst themselves until they were interrupted. They were interrupted by the one and only Camilla Cabello.
They were closer but still at a distance where I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I watched smiling because I knew that this would make their night, speaking to someone who they regarded as famous. I instantly saw Jonah’s face light up, which was okay because that’s his celeb crush. They hugged but I didn’t think anything of it because she hugged all the boys.
They spoke to each other and I almost choked on my own spit when I saw her wrap her arms around Jonah’s back. Even though she was talking to all the boys. They were all laughing amongst each other, smiles never leaving their faces. Whenever Camilla spoke she always made sure to stare up at Jonah, even placing her free hand on his chest. I know I shouldn’t be jealous right now, but when your boyfriends celebrity crush was lowkey flirting with them it made me feel bad about myself. Camilla is so much more prettier than me, making me fear the worst which was absolutely ridiculous. My smile left my face as they all stood there talking. I don’t know why I’m jealous but I am. She’s touching my man. I sound psychotic.
They all took a group picture and once again I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the fact that she had her arm wrapped around Jonah’s back, leaning her head towards them as they smiled at the camera. I tried hard not to roll my eyes when she hugged them all goodbye, giving Jonah two hugs. I put on a smile when I saw the boys walk over to all of us now, smiles radiating off of them.
All the boys went straight to their respective families, Jonah coming straight towards me. He immediately wrapped his arms around my waist, picking me up off of the ground, holding me tightly.
“Well done, babe!” I said into his neck. “I’m so proud of you!”
“I feel like I’m on cloud nine!” He said putting me back down on the ground. He made sure to hold me close though. I tried so hard not to be annoyed at everything that I just saw, but it was like a voice in the back of my head, making me feel self conscious. “We bumped into Julia Michaels backstage and she said that it was crazy that only a couple of months ago she was introducing our song on the radio for the very first time, and now we’re performing at MSG. And then we actually performed which was so surreal and then we just met Camilla again and she was so nice and said that we were awesome. My life feels complete.”
“That’s so great!” I smiled. He gave me one last hug before we both entered the green room and I congratulated all the boys. I ended up going back to watch the show with Anna and the Seavey’s, allowing the boys to have some down time to themselves. They also had to do a couple more interviews so there was no point in us staying backstage. I also thought that this would be a great time to forget about every negative thought I was thinking and focus on the positives. But no matter how hard I tried, I always thought that I was so much more worse than Camilla, and that Jonah didn’t love me anymore and that I can’t give him anything.
———
I ended up going backstage towards the end of the show, where all the boys and their families were unwinding from the high we had just been on. I walked into the room and immediately caught Jonah’s eye. He patted his knee so I took this as my cue to walk over and sit on his lap, especially because there was no where else to sit.
He wrapped his arms around me and leaned his head on my shoulder. I turned my head to face him and couldn’t help but smile at his stupid pouting face. He grinned back at me and gave me a kiss on the lips. I’m so in love with him.
“You okay?” He whispered in my ear. The room was so loud so the only way we could communicate with one another was if we actually spoke into each other’s ears. As weird as it sounds.
“Yeah.” I replied. “I’m really proud and happy for you!”
“Really?” He asked skeptically. “Ever since we came off stage you’ve been quiet, which isn’t normal for you.”
“It’s nothing, Jonah.”
“(y/n)? What is wrong? I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s so stupid.” I mumbled putting my head into my hands. “I saw Camilla Cabello looking kinda flirty with you and it made me jealous because she’s so much more prettier than me, and she has so much more to offer you. It just made me feel self conscious.”
“(y/n).” Jonah laughed ever so slightly. “Yes, she’s my celebrity crush but you are my girlfriend and not even she can top that. I honestly don’t know why she had her arm around me the whole time but I thought it was innocent. I guess my mind was foggy because I had just come off stage after performing at MSG. You shouldn’t be jealous because honestly when she was speaking I could barely concentrate on what she was saying because I wanted to tell you how awesome it was.”
“God I’m such an embarrassment.” I said blushing. I don’t know why I ever got self conscious because Jonah loves me and no one else.
“Don’t be embarrassed.” He said giving me a kiss on the cheek. “If I saw Niall Horan talking to you like that I would’ve gotten jealous too.”
“Maybe we should just talk more about these things?” I suggested.
“Agreed.” He smiled at me, pointing his pinky finger out at me. I interlocked my own pinky with his, pecking him on the lips once more.
But we was interrupted when David burst into the room to say that Taylor Swift invited the boys to her dressing room. I was almost pushed off of Jonah’s lap.
“See you in a bit babe!” He said walking towards the door after the other boys. “I love you!”
“I love you too, Jonah.”
a/n: short and sweet. not the best but oh well.

Thorsiffe did as Makena asked, taking a breath. They ran their hands through their hair, straightening themself. The motion tilted their head back, and their eyes met the sky, as if hoping to find some answer there.
After another moment, they shook their head, turning back to Makena. "I... I don't know what the fuck this is, but ever since it appeared I've just... I've felt off. Like..."
They frowned, shaking their head again. "Like something's coming for me, y'know?"
Thorsiffe was clearly very anxious about something, that much was clear from the way they behaved when they continued to speak of the symbol.
"Hey, hey... Thors? Are you alright?" Makena asked and reached out to place a hand on the other's arm. "It's just a mark. You're alright. Take a breath... It's not gonna hurt you."

"I am, yeah- I- Ah, sorry," they stammered, and let go of Makena's ankle. Their cheeks flushed red hot, both from the outburst itself and their thoughts catching up to their actions.
They were quiet for a moment. The mark had not been there when they'd gone to sleep with Gwen - both sober, for a change. It had been there when they'd woken up from their nightmare. That's... They were sure about that, right? They'd have seen it earlier if that wasn't how it'd gone down. Right?
"I was sober when I... I woke up and it was just there. I... I was sober when I'd gone to sleep. So... I mean I would've noticed beforehand, right? It's not exactly easy to miss."
"Woah!" Makena yelped when Thorsiffe grabbed her ankle and almost lifted her off the ground. "Hey! Watch it. I'm not that flexible," she cried out and was almost reduced to hopping on her other foot to maintain her balance. The panic on Thorsiffe's face was not lost on Makena because it was a look she had never seen on them before.
"I don't know," she said and lifted her hands in front of her to show that she meant no ill will. "I thought Izak and I got drunk and got it together because he's got the same one too. I mean, I wouldn't have put it past us to do some Hangover shit like this so it kinda made sense... Are you sure you weren't there with us when we got it?"

Thors nodded and smiled sweetly at Makena's greeting. They tilted their head as Makena shamelessly ogled them, before giggling as they realized that was what she was doing. They didn't seem to mind, turning to hand out some candles without another word.
They'd almost redrawn their hands when Makena's words made them freeze in their tracks. Their eyes go wide with panic. They're eerily still for a moment. The next, like a cornered animal, they lurch into motion. They spin towards Makena, hand reaching up to grab her foot and get a good look at the mark, all but pulling their friend off her feet.
Thorsiffe was always liberal with their company, hugging and touching others affectionately often. Never like this though. After studying the mark for a moment, their head shoots up to meet their friend's gaze.
"How did you get this? Do you remember?"
Tumblr media
