And no matter the swearing and cursing, the connection stayed down. Lowest score needed for a medal was on K6, where 4120 was enough to secure the last Bronze. Three Golds were won by margins in excess of 16 000, but we also had one winner whos margin was below 1500. So in general, the winners were pretty clear this time. But perhaps the fighting were closer for the rest of the prizes? Ali je sel kdo od naših nazaj na obalo?' 'Nee, kolikor vem nihče! Kako, da ga ni? Si pogledal ob boku? Kaj pa vrv? Je se zadaj? Je odtrgana?' ga vprašam. 'Ni vrvi niti dingija' mi odgovori. 'Kaj naj naredim?' (Jakob nas je zvecer ob 21h pripeljal iz obale in zadnji izstopil in privezal dingija na barko. Kmalu zatem je veter pojacal, valovi so postali višji in barka je začela precej skakati, spojler je nabijal in tako se je najbrž odvezala tudi vrv.) 'sedaj ne moremo nic. Itak pa piha proti obali, zjutraj jo pregledamo', mu odgovorim pomirljivo. Vem, da ga nisem potolažil in da bo imel težko noc. Tudi sam sem jo imel. Brez čolna in motorja nimamo tukaj, po atolih kaj delati. Le dvignemo lahko sidro in direkt na Tahiti! Ob sedmih in četrt sem zunaj v kokpitu. Julijan ze pije kavo in mi zašepeta: ' dingija ni! Jakob je ze odplaval na obalo in ga išče!' Vprašam ga, kaj, kako je komentiral kapitan? 'Se nic'. Z daljnogledom gledamo v oddaljen zalivček, kjer vidimo Jakoba na dingiju. Hvala bogu! Ko pride nazaj mu stisnem roko. Vidim, da mu je odleglo toda čaka ga se kapitanovo 'pi...! Malo kasneje, ko se zadeva 'pomiri' Jakobu le rečem, naj drugič, ce ze riskira, vzame vsaj rešilni jopič s seboj, ko bo plaval tako daleč na obalo. Tok je močan, pa psički so tudi lačni zjutraj!? Ob 11h začnemo dvigati sidro. Je na 18 m, veriga 75 m spuščena. Vinc cvili in zavija, ne gre! Stara 'bolezen', se iz Karibov, Paname.. pa se kapitan ni dal prepričati za popravilo. Malo na ročni vinc za pomoc in po dveh urah ga le potegnemo ven. Ob 13h je prehod iz lagune ven precej bolj miren, tok občutno manjši. Obrnemo v polkrme, postavimo tangun in genovo, kurs Fakarava, (skoraj največji med atoli), 110 milj.

No calls arrived to tear me out of my slumber, and when I finally woke up there was a new Nephilax outside my bedroom window. On the other hand, the imbalance was not much worse than the last time, and no more than four Bronzes in total had to be returned for resmelting after the award ceremony. The last half-hour saw only two Golds changing hands, while five Golds was held for a minimum of two hours. Was this due to strong winners, or a lack of fighting spirit avialible? Hard to say. None of the clans secured more than one Gold, none of the unaligned Commanders grabbed a Gold, and none of the last events Gold winners managed to get a follow-up win. Upcoming event: Selfsame Here we are not allowed to use more than one model of Mechs. But each Commander is free to select which model they prefer to use. The crew, as expected, had been displaced to the foothills, but after some hair-raising battles we managed to get back to the lowest slope. Question was which of the many high-licenced opponents below us would drag us back down? The answer was.. none. On the other hand, Luc Lachance of the Ronins wanted the spot, and for a long while we fought over it. Finally he tired of the game and claimed another slope-spot. I drew a relieved sigh. The hatorade situation had been getting critical, and any adventurism against the top was out of the question.
