Thoughts on CR Ep. 118

OKAY. I am LITERALLY a nobody here and just screaming into the void that is tumblr but here we go. Beware, there be spoilers!!

I LOVED last night’s episode!!!! It was so good! All that fucking history!?!?! Aeor was fucking wild and just major kudos to Matthew Mercer for A++++ world building! My god what I’d give to pick his brain and get all the facts!! Things are truly ramping up! I 10000% believe that the Somnovum sacrificed the entirety of the Cognoza ward and all its residents to save THEMSELVES. The Eyes of Nine are an evil the likes of which have probably not been seen in gods knows how long and  I am so here for all this eldritch horror that is being/about to be unleashed upon Exandria. Be careful Mighty Nein!!

Now, to what really made me dust off this old blog and get on my soap box. I saw Matt’s post on twitter and have been combing the CR tag and seeing all the “discourse” so here are my two cents. Please, please, please remember that this is first and foremost a game between friends. Obviously, this is also a masterclass in storytelling with galaxy brain Matthew Mercer at the helm, but it is LITERALLY a game. ANYTHING can change with the roll. of. a. fucking. dice. 

There are SO many ways to play and not everyone is into every element of the gameplay. Travis has been on record saying D&D romance wasn’t something he was really interested in but things change! It seems pretty clear that Travis has created Fjord to be a very different character from Grog. Having played for 5+ years, maybe some of elements of the game he didn’t explore with Grog are something he wants to try with Fjord. So I don’t understand why people are so fucking pressed that a person might feel the most comfortable exploring this facet of gameplay with their IRL partner??????? And yes, Laura has been joking since before the campaign started that she would make his character fall in love with her character, but do you think she would actually FORCE him into something that made him uncomfortable or wasn’t something he wanted to get out of game? 

These characters, THEIR characters, are so complex and have so many layers and are growing and changing and developing as they play the game. The stakes are just getting higher and there is clear and present danger in the form of the Tomb Takers and the Eyes of Nine. Why wouldn’t Fjord shoot his shot and take the chance to make his feelings for Jester clear to her? Who knows if they’re all going to make it out of this arc of the story alive???  I get ships are important to fandom which, at times, can be all consuming but you are not at that table (well tables, since, y’know, rona.). You are not in their heads. You don’t get to dictate how someone plays their game because it’s not what you want to see. Try to remember things can change at the drop of a hat?? Since when has a kiss been this all binding contract? It was a beautiful confession and kiss but who’s to say that it will stick??? this isn’t some video game where you have to lock in your romance choice now. this is a living game and the story is unfolding and evolving as it goes. Nobody is locked into their choices and that’s the fucking beauty of it. 

So if you are a Fjorester fan, enjoy your feast! That was some good fucking food! Remember to please be kind, don’t gloat and don’t antagonize. And for anybody that was upset with what happened last night I understand how devastating it can feel when you’re so invested but please don’t attack the cast. I believe they’re 100% more invested in these characters than you are because of the simple fact that the characters are their creations. Write all the fic, make all the posts about why you love your ship, create all the fan art, share your criticisms and disappointments but do it with respect?? Maybe throw in a shred of kindness?? Acknowledge that what you want has no bearing on the story they are creating together????? Please don’t make the fandom a place where the cast can’t share in the joy their campaign brings to the tens of thousands of lives that tune in to watch this incredible story unfold.

Hello, I am 21 and in college. I am in Northeast Illinois. I have not driven a car since I was 17. This is because I did miserably in driver education. I passed the classroom, so technically I passed driver ed, but the driving I failed miserably. My parents won't let me be behind the wheel of their cars again. I was struck by an uninsured driver on 02-10-11. Because the driver who struck me was uninsured I was forced to file a claim with my insurance company(Omni Insurance). The car was towed to CJ's collision at 6128 n beechwood Philadelphia, pa ,19138 on 02-11-11. Phone number 215-848-2836. On 02-14-11 Omni insurance sent out an appraiser to evaluate the vehicle. They then faxed an estimate on 02-15-11 totaling $5300 to CJ's collision shop. I went to the collision shop on 02-15-11 to sign paperwork giving them permission to work on my car. They then began the repairs. On 02-18-11 the insurance company then deemed my car a total loss. The vehicle is a 2005 Nissan Altima SL with 96,477 miles. The NADA value for the vehicle is 10,995. According to Omni insurance a car is deemed a total loss when the repairs reach 70% of the value of the vehicle. Omni insurance valued my car at 7,415. They then proposed a settlement offer of 5826.40. They deducted 975.00 in prior damages(which I disagree with) and 1000.00 my deductible. The settlement offer included 386.40 in sales tax. After negotiating on 02-28-11 they proposed an offer of 7835.30. The value they gave my car was 9255. Again 975.00 was deducted and my 1000.00 deductible. They including sales tax and tags/registration fee in the offer. I accepted the offer out of desperation because they also stopped paying for the rental car I was driving on 02-28-11. I work, attend school and have a child my schedule requires that I have a car so I paid out of pocket for a rental car until 03-07-11, expecting the payment to be issued to my lien holder by then so I could purchase another car. I contacted them on 03-07-11 inquiring about my payment and was informed they did not pick the vehicle up from the collision shop therefore they were not issuing a payment. The collision shop gave them a bill of 1750.00 for the repairs they did and the storage fees. The insurance company disagrees with this and refuses to pick the vehicle up and issue my payment. They have also stated this may come out of my settlement offer. The insurance company already has the title to the car and all the necessary paperwork to the vehicle but refuses to issue a payment. It has been a month since I filed my claim and I can no longer afford to pay for a rental especially since it seems I will have to purchase a new vehicle. The insurance company is low balling me and also forcing me to pay for repairs they approved then backed out of.""

ok i JUST got me a new car and i have insurance on it and everything and well i had some friends with me and they were in the back seat and they had a lighter and they decided to try and light their farts on fire and im being very serious here and well he got down and and farted on the flame of the lighter and it actually shot out and caught the back seat of my car on fire and burnt up part of the back seat and this really isnt a joke i didnt even know he was doing that and i walked over there right as he did it and sure enough it actually shot out and caught it on fire so will my insurance cover that? im to embarrassed to call and ask because they probably wont believe me!!!

On the morning of Sept 14, 2011 my sister woke me up at home asking me where my car was. I went outside to discover my vehicle was gone. So I call the police to come and take a report but of course there wasn't enough officers on duty to send one out so I wake up my brother to get a ride to the station. Keep in mind this is between 2:30-5:00am and the last time I actually saw my car was Sept 13, 2011 at approx 11pm. I arrive at the police station where I make a report, they take down all the info and send me home with the report. Approx 1 hour later they call me and say my vehicle was recovered in a nearby city and they gave me the number to that police station. So I hurry to call them but of course they were closed until 8am. At 8am I call them they said bring my ID and insurance info to recover the vehicle. I go down there and ask questions but they told me they weren't allowed to disclose any information about who, what, were, or when the incident occurred because of confidentiality. They told me I would have to pay the towing and storage fee to recover my car from the impound. So I left and went to the impound paid $218.00 to discover that my vehicle had been totaled. So I had it towed to my house where I called the insurance company to report this. After I reported this incident they took a recorded statement and gave me a claim number. I waited for 2days for my adjuster to call me back and he never did. about 2 weeks later my adjuster calls and leaves me a message saying he needed another recorded statement and to call him back. I call back and got his voice mail. I spoke to one of his colleagues and they said they would send him and his manager a memo to call me back..well that never happened. 1 week after that I get a packet in the mail asking for my cell phone records, keys to the vehicle, and a notarized affidavit. I sent these things back and then a detective from the insurance company calls me and said there were red flags and he needed to get a video recorded statement. I agreed and went to give the statement. A few days later a detective from the police department where my car was recovered from calls me and tells me that my youngest son's father was with some friends at a nightclub were a drive-by shooting occurred and my son's father wasn't shot but the young man he was with was and as a result of them trying to escape the scene my car was crashed. As they arrived to the scene and asked questions about what happened my son's father would not admit he was driving the vehicle, and because they didn't actually see him driving or pull him over they could not prosecute. The detective asked me did I know anything about this incident and I replied hell no! The night of the incident my son's father had came to my house around 3am but never mentioned anything of course because he knows I would have tried to kill him. He also knows I would have been pissed because I never let him drive my car for the 3 years that I have known him, he has never had a license. She ask me was it ok to list him as a suspect and I told her Yes! I let her know that he did not have permission to drive my car under any circumstances. The very next day the detective from the insurance company called me and ask me what was my son's father name and what where the numbers that where called on my cell phone records. He asked why did he call me at 2:54am, I explained he wanted to let me know he was on his way over which wasn't out of the ordinary for him to do. So then the detective tells me my story stinks and I need to withdraw my claim because on my interview I didn't disclose that my boyfriend had come to my house. I told him why did I need to disclose who was sleeping in my bed if it had nothing to do with my car. I mean we know now he had something to do with it but I didn't know then. He told me the police detective also had the keys to my car which was a lie. It clearly states on the impound record that they had no keys. Not to mention the car has broken locks and loose wires I guess he didn't read that part of the report. He also told me I was trying to cover for my son's dad to get the car covered. I told him he could arrest him for GTA for all I care. My car was stolen and no matter who stole it I'm the victim and of course I want my car covered. He then said he was denying the claim and sending the case to the Department of Insurance to see if fraud was committed. Im beyond frustrated because I have nothing to do with what my son's dad did. Should I sue?""

Primary driver: 24, perfect driving record, female, some college completed but no degree The car: Something mediocre from the late 80s to late 90s The insurance: Minnesota, metro area, daily 10-20 mile commute each way, we want all the proper liability and personal injury coverage but don't care about collision Seriously, just guess. We'll take any ideas. We completely know it varies by each of those factors and many more, and we already know the national average. If you know the state average, that's one step up on us. I'd get a quote, but my roommate is the one seriously thinking about cars right now, and I don't want to do anything in someone else's name. She'll be getting quotes soon, but right now I'm a little concerned about the insurance companies possibly running credit checks, as I'm under the impression a slew of them at a time can lower your score, and we don't know what car we're getting yet. So once that's settled, we'll check into it for real. We just want to TRY to budget before we seriously car hunt.
