A few days ago the creatively bereft (look at what has become of Rare...) and already makes too much money Microsoft became the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony following the $69 billion dollar acquistion of the controversial Activision-Blizzard. The parasitic Microsoft now frighteningly and depressingly owns the IPs of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and Candy Crush (King Studios. Which Activision-Blizzard had acquired), to name a few. Plus global eSports activities through Major League Gaming too.

So, to clarify, a profitable but mainly artistically bankrupt company when it comes to video games added to their entire game library by spending cash versus actually creating something new of their own. Once more. Ugh.

MLB Power Pros / MLB Power Pros 2008

Tucked away in a montage of releases during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct was the announcement of WBSC eBaseball: Power Pros. Little would give any indication it’s a long-running Konami franchise without familiarity of the brand. Despite the game itself being a modest offering at 99 cents and features mainly geared towards online gaming, it was a reason to celebrate for some beyond Konami selling basic merchandise at their American store. To understand why requires going back to 2007 when the uniquely Japanese franchise came to America for a short while.
