Okay. So. Kiradax brainrot brought me a thought.

I see a lot of depictions of Dax being the more experienced person in the relationship, confident and informed by 6-7 lifetimes. Kira, having been actively in a war up until recently, is less experienced in romantic relationships.

So mostly I see either Kira crushing on Dax but not sure if she feels the same OR Dax liking Kira and hitting on her but being very mindful of her traumatic past. I really like those dynamics, but also, consider:

Jadzia is in her early to mid twenties and has spent most of her adult life as an initiate for the Dax symbiont.

SO in all likelihood, Jadzia herself hasn’t been in very many (if any) romantic relationships. What we know of Jadzia pre-Dax, is that she was a studious and shy person. This perfectly facilitates an interpretation that Jadzia is crushing on Kira for a while as they get to know each other. From Jadzia’s perspective, she’s just been assigned to work with a strong, competent, gorgeous, talented, and fierce woman.

Sometimes I think about how Star Trek Deep Space Nine depicted the Bajorans as having just come out of a 50 yr long brutal fascist, colonial, genocidal occupation that they used terrorism (the show explicitly used this word) to kick out.

And how the show depicts this as unquestionably a good thing.

One of the lead characters in the show, Major Kira, was a "terrorist", and we're not meant to think less of her because of it. She was resisting the occupation of her home!
