I dunno if anyone saw but a Japanese Produce 101 fan went viral with a video ANGERME performing Majokko Meguchan which was a Momona center. They said it was disgusting a 13 year old was allowed to sing a song with lyrics saying she’s not a kid anymore because she’s grown boobs. It’s a COVER as we all know but it’s brought negative attention to H!P. I feel like we all retroactively forgot how creepy that was.

Majokko Megu-chan (“Meg the Little Witch”)
youtube
“If you think I’m a child, you’re sorely mistaken. I’m a girl. The two swelling curves on my chest are proof that I can do anything.”
OR: A 1970s mahou shoujo theme song.
SHARANRA SHARANRA HEI HEI YEE YE YEE SHARANRAA
Shalanla Shalanla Hey hey yay yay yeah Shalanla
kodomo da nante omottara oomachigai yo onna no ko futatsu no mune no fukurami wa nandemo dekiru akashi na no

Even if I don’t put on makeup, You’re already crazy about me Once pearl-like tears spring to my eyes, Boys are goners¹

Even if I don’t tell you “I like you” You’re in love with me When I part my lips prettily, Boys are at my beck and call

¹ I’m probably coming back to edit this later once I’ve figured out the right turn of phrase, but I’m currently at a loss to figure out how to convey the breezy contempt in this last line. From the disdainful nante to refer to boys (“Boys? Please, I can defeat a “boy” just by crying!”) to the complete and utter defeat implied by ichikoro (“Boys are trounced by my tears.”)
On a side-note, mune no fukurami is in fact basically bosom (in the whole slightly-more-polite-way-to-refer-to-boobs aspect which is why UFP translated it as such, I just wanted to figure out a way to maintain the 2 in “futatsu no mune no fukurami” so I opted for a more literal translation.

recent hello! project songs ratings (1-bad/boring, 2-ok, 3-like, 4-love) episode 2!
To Tomorrow - 2 (not really recent, but the most recent single from c-ute lol) Final Squall - 2 The Curtain Rises - 3
Ee janai ka Ninja nai ka - 2 Sha la la! Yareru Hazu sa - 1
Ai Sae Areba Nanni mo Iranai - 2 (1.5?) Namidairo no Ketsui - 1 Majokko Meguchan - 3
Shuukatsu Sensation - 2 Waratte - 4 Hana moyou - 4
Jidanda Dance - 2 Feel! Kanjiru yo - 0 Goal ~Ashita wa Acchi da yo~ - 3 Jouro - 1 Fiesta! Fiesta! - 4
Jama Shinaide Here We Go! - 3 Dokyuu no Go Sign - 2 Wakaindashi! - 1
the only really noteworthy songs are fiesta fiesta and hana moyou
disappointing that wakaindashi isn’t very good since we don’t get that much from tsunku. every time i hear it i can’t help but think of shrek. not in some kind of meme way but bc it sounds like a song that would be in shrek to me
more and more i’m realizing how much triple a-sides devalue each of the a-sides, bc it barely matters if an a-side is good or not since there’s 2 others. and the singles as wholes all seem generic and blend together because they have no individual identifying characteristics, they’re all just compilations of 3 completely unrelated songs.
i get the idea behind having different types of songs on a single so that there’s something for everyone, but i feel like i’d prefer if they at least more often had singles where the a-sides actually compliment each other or relate to each other somehow. like brainstorming/kimi sae ireba nani mo iranai, those two songs have similar enough vibes that even though the single is two different songs, it feels like it has one complete memorable overall identity. unlike, for random example, jidanda dance/feel kanjiru yo. when i think of that single it’s just “what do these songs have to do with each other in any way other than being released on the same cd” like putting a........ slice of watermelon... in a burger bun. doesn’t make any sense!

m!a: with the magical anon powers of the great majokko meguchan, turn into a cute squishy marius for one week~
Marius was minding his own business in the library when unknown forces managed to shrink him, reverting him to his 5-year old self. In this new state, the book in his hands was one that completely confused him. So, he leapt out of his chair, abandoning the book on the seat since he was unsure of where it had come from. Not knowing exactly where he was going, the child set off for a book that would interest him.

I wish we had more shows like Majokko Meg-chan, a show that had the main character lose fights complete with repercussions, highlighted serious issues like domestic violence and drug abuse, and had characters actually die. Who says magical girl shows need to be completely fluffy and idealistic? There's nothing wrong with serious magical girl shows once in a while.

When the CD covers of Majokko Meguchan came out, I anticipated that Rikako would be the center again like in Mahoutsukai Sally because she's in the center of the photo. So I was literally surprised when the actual MV was released. She was not even among the supporting lead vocals. It was Kassa who was the center of the song.

Oh my gosh!! First, it was Sally the Witch. Now, it's Little Meg the Witch Girl. I didn't know that Majokko Meguchan was an anime in Japan in 1970s!! I now declare that Anju is really the mahou shoujo group of HP! :>
