Hey there, Tumblr folks!
First things first, I'm sorry for being MIA for so long. But hey, I have a pretty good excuse, I'm having a baby in May! Yes, you read that right. Yours truly is going to be a mom. It's been a wild ride so far, but I'm so excited to meet my little bundle of joy.
Now, I know some of you might be wondering what happened to all the finished Buddie fanart that I promised to post last year. Well, fear not my friends, I have plenty of it saved up and ready to share with the world. From Buck and Christopher's adventure at a fair with a giant shark plushie, to baby Bee's adorable baby picture (she's the daughter I imagine Buck accidentally ending up with and raising with Eddie, by the way), and even a Buckley-Diaz family beach day (baby Bee included, of course), I've got it all.
And if that's not enough, I also have a super cool Buddie t-shirt design that I made. I can't wait for you all to see it!
But that's not all, folks. I'm also working on an online shop with my friend @thefriendlypigeon (yes, that's her real name of course), and we're hoping to have it up and running soon. So, if you're in the market for some sweet stickers or prints, stay tuned for updates.
So, there you have it. I promise to post all this amazing content soonish, but my energy levels are pretty low at the moment (thanks, pregnancy), so bear with me. In the meantime, feel free to ask me anything about my headcanons for baby Bee or just say hi.
I also wanted to let you all know that my inbox is always open for anything, especially Buddie related content. I love hearing from you guys and seeing what kind of creative ideas you come up with. So, don't be shy to drop in and say hi, or even send me a prompt. I can't promise I'll be able to draw them all (again pregnancy does have a way of sapping your energy, after all), but I always love to see what kind of ideas you come up with. Who knows, maybe your prompt will be the spark that inspires my next piece! It's time for some 2023 art I guess.
I've missed you all! Sending love and virtual hugs ❤️
#i dont really want to say im back#but ill try to be back i guess#currently working on the shop#then the plan is to edit to finished art and to get it ready to be posted#just wanted to give you guys a status update#and tell you im not dead#majel rambles#majel is a mom#guess thats gonna be tag now#buddie#911

So TNG as of now is like fun popcorn food. I liked datalore but aside from the time traveler episode nothing had quite had me as emotionally invested. Though the characters are growing on me. Particularly Data.
Highlight thus far was Majel Barrett’s new character. She played Deanna’s Troi’s know it all mom very well.

ok tng update time. yesterday i did "haven" and just now i finished "the big goodbye."
haven: not like GOOD but definitely watchable! i think this was one largely saved from going in my garbage heap pile because nurse chapel played deanna's mom. like, if it hadn't been nurse chapel she would have been the MOST irritating annoying character but instead i was just like awww its majel barrett look at her being all quirky good for her. being ever so slightly faceblind it took me a minute to recognize her, since i just recognized her by her voice. it was also this episode or maybe the next one that i realized she was doing the computer - she uses such a different tone in tng and i hadn't been expecting to hear her voice, but the computer was starting to sound awfully familiar so i looked it up and wow sure enough. GOOD for her.
also, deanna having a truly horrible, wretched, AWFUL mother also endeared me to her more than words can say. i was JUST thinking that even though people say data is the knockoff spock it's not true - data is the inverse of spock, and DEANNA is the knockoff. like this was very much like oh she's half alien half human, it's time for her weird little alien marriage like amok time, it's time to meet her alien family like in journey of babel, etc etc, this episode could have been an email and she could have been a vulcan, etc etc etc. then she stormed out of the room and knocked that little gong thing over and i think i fell in love with her on the spot. im not sure if i wanna marry her or be her but i am now a deanna enjoyer.
my main gripes with the episode were 1. they never really explained how her intended husband and that blonde chick met...am i really supposed to believe lwaxana's bs about the current of life connecting them? and then also him saying goodbye to his parents was like...anyway bye mom and dad! not remotely believable. i didn't really care about him but it was wack.
and 2. deanna and will had an argument but then never got to reconcile at the end...this is the first time i was actually interested in their romance and then they barely got to speak two words to each other. i know tng episodes are 5min shorter than tos episodes, but this is like the 4th time i've thought they needed a bit more time at the end for that debrief scene they always had in tos...can they truly not pace this better. come on
the big goodbye: unwatchable in EVERY way. this episode was so fucking bad. dr crusher trying to make herself look Hot Like Women Do and getting mad when picard invited People Who Were Not Her to the holodeck. the data being from south america joke that is only a little better than kirk calling spock chinese in the city on the edge of forever. the fake stakes. picard walking around with lipstick on his mouth. treating data like a third wheel which should be punishable by law. the 1940s setting which is TIRED when you're not in the depths of whatever i was doing in 2014. COME ON
i will say though that i did love picard trying to learn the little insect language where the letters change their sound depending on what symbols are beside them. me trying to learn japanese on duolingo fr. also i did laugh one time when dr crusher swallowed the gum. her actress really sold that one. great job.
also, what was UP with the characters in the holodeck having their own existential crisis about not being real??? that plus any potential malfunction making the holodeck capable of killing people leads me to believe it should not be on this ship. like if i thought the fake holodeck characters were sentient enough to wonder if they were sentient and doomed to cease existing once i took my eyes off of them i would firstly never enter the holodeck again but secondly call a priest to disassemble it
anyway, tonight we are doing "datalore." can't wait for more data lore and also to meet his evil twin or whatever that's about

Some of you know that my mother died on Monday. Those of you who are Star Trek fans or who enjoy conventions would probably be interested to know that my mom was a first generation Geek, a classic Star Trek fan who was there from the beginning. She went to Star Trek conventions when they were fan run before the corporations took over, she met most of the actors (she said DeForrest Kelley was one of the sweetest people ever), and she was friends with writer David Gerrold (The Trouble with Tribbles). One of the great untold stories about Star Trek is how women in fandom kept the show alive and going during the decade when it was off the air and kept the love of the show alive long enough for the movies and Next Generation to kick off. They did those through fan magazines and writing fanfics which were copied on mimeograph machines and passed around among friends and through organizing conventions. My mom, a classic slash fanfiction writer (Spock/Kirk), was one of those women.
My Catholic husband is rather amused by how Star Trek is basically the closet thing to organized religion in my family. We watched it together every Wednesday, though it was Next Gen and then DS9 and then Voyager, and at the end we would often have discussions about the moral issues involved. We went to conventions, met Majel Barret Roddenberry and LeVar Burton with some Star Wars actors thrown in. There was one time we tried to join a local Star Trek group and we’d gotten lost on the way there. When we found them my mom walked in and announced, “We’re the Robinsons and we got lost!” Lost in Space fans will understand why the room erupted into laughter.
Over Thanksgiving I started showing the Next Generation movies to my kids and got them hooked. We’ve been watching Next Generation together and for Christmas I’d gotten my parents shirts that said Grandma/pa The Previous Generation (aside, it is so easy to find gifts for Grandpa Geeks but not Grandma Geeks, women in fandom ae still getting the short stick for all their efforts). When I was wrapping them with my daughter she was stunned that her Grammy would like a Star Trek shirt and I turned to her and told her that her Grammy was THE original Star Trek fan and it completely blew her mind.
Before she died I got to tell her that Star Trek is taking root in the third generation and the love for the show is going strong.

ST: TNG S5 Watchthrough Episodes 18-21
Cause and Effect: Who’s ready for the ST equivalent of Groundhog Day? Yep, we have a time loop episode. This is actually my mom’s favorite episode so I’ve been waiting for this one XD.So the episode opens with the Enterprise blown up and after the titles we have a poker game as though nothing happened. But Crusher begins to have deja vu and as the loops continue, so do the others. So... If you’ve seen time loop stories you more or less know how this goes. Though unlike most of the oens I’ve seen where just one person becomes aware of it, while Crusheris the first the others also begin to take notice. The don’t remember everything, but they start picking up on it and figuring out that something’s up. Again, I appreciate the cast being written as competent and not stupid cause it’s very easy to do with this kind of plot. Not sure I at all understand Data’s explanation on how he figured out how to end the loop... but hey, it ended. So it was good. Nothing mind-blowing but very much enjoyable. Any time that Crusher gets prominent screentime I’m happy, but again I just appreciate the cast being intelligent. Also the Kelsey Grammer cameo at the end, Hell yes~! 3.5/5.
The First Duty: Okay Wesley, second guest star appearance. Let’s see how it goes. Which, haha... it’s not a happy episode for him. There’s been an accident at the Academy and while thankfully Wesley is alright aside from an injured arm, one of his classmates has died. Well… that’s sad. That n and of itself could fuel a story all its own. But as a hearing is held, it becomes clear that something more is going on. As it turns out, Wesley’s teammate died because the entire squadron not only performed an illegal flight procedure… but lied about it. First that it was an accident, then that the accident and his own demise was his own fault. Why? To save their own skins. Now to be fair it’s clear that they’re scared, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’re essentially lying/disgracing a dead person to save themselves. Even the kid’s own father gets convinced of this, which only adds to Wesley’s guilt. I actually felt really bad for Wesley and I kinda feel like Picard, upon confronting him, was… pretty harsh. Wesley’s actions were wrong, but again he was clearly scared and felt guilty for it. Thankfully he does ultimately do the right thing, accepting the consequences. Hopefully, Wesley can push through it and grow from it if he shows up again. My mom doesn’t like this episode I guess because of how it portrayed Wesley, but honestly? I like it for that exact reason. Welsey isn’t portrayed necessarily as bad, he’s reacting like… well… a scared nineteen-year-old. He made a major mistake, and he paid the price for it, though it certainly wasn’t the worst punishment that he could have received. While Picard was rather harsh when confronting him, it was the push that Wesley needed to do the right thing. I think that this was the kind of episode that Wesley needed, where he commits a huge screw-up and unlike when he was a regular, pays the consequences for it… it’s just a shame that they did it after he stopped being a regular. I can see why some may dislike this one because of Wesley’s portrayal, but I think it was good and was long overdue for the character without villainizing him. He’s intelligent and capable of greatness, but he’s got a lot to learn, especially after this. Let’s hope that he does. 3.5/5.
Cost of Living: It’s another Lwaxana episode folks… yay. Okay despite my complaints about her episodes, the last one’s issues I had was more due to the subject matter than the character. If anything, she was the best part of it. So maybe this time things will be better. So this time, Worf is having parenting problems with Troi trying to help him and Alexander make it work. Lwaxana is on the Enterprise as she’s getting married, to Troi’s exasperation and Picard’s utter relief, and ends up butting in. Oh and the ship malfunctions because it’s Star Trek. So… it was okay I guess? The Holodeck scene was just utterly bizzare and I’m still trying to wrap my brain around WTF just happened. To be honest, Troi is the best part of this episode. She’s trying to reasonable help Worf with his parenting issues, Alexander with his lack of discepline/responsibility, her mother marrying a guy she never met and bending agains the Betazoid traditions that she usually follows, and she’s clearly just fed up with everyone especially her mother. It makes her such a joy to watch, haha! Lwaxana was… alrigh. On the one hand, it ws not at all her place to butt into the whole Alexander situation especially since Troi was handling it. On the other hand, the episode does go more into how lonely Lwaxana is and make her manhunting/desire tog et married more sympathetic. Te previous episodes always played it mainly as a joke/a condition of her species at her age, but it never allowed her to actually delve into why she’s so desperate. How she’s fears rowing older and being all alone without someone to love her… and gosh I’ve absoluteley seen this before and it’s just sad. Consideirng that this came out the same year that Gene Roddenberry, majel Barret’s husband and of course as we know the franchise creator, has passed… I can only imagine how rough this had to be for the poor woman. But if she wad channeling that into her performance, she did a fantastic job. Also Lwaxana’s fiance? He was played by freakin’ Tony Jay. The man is a freakin’ legend the voice acting world (probably best known as Frollo in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, by far his darkest performance yet probably his best) and it’s the first time I’ve seen him in a live aciton role. He plays a snobish asshole and obviousy the marriage falls through in the end, but he made the episode worth it! So yeah, I’m still not a big Lwaxana fan but they are trying to add more to her and overall it was fine. It’s not great, for example the Enterprise’s plot felt tacked on to fill in the runtime, the pacing was rouh, and the storylines were not at all balanced out well. But it was overall fine, though i think Half a Life did her better. Troi, some legit Lwaxana development, and getting an appearance by Tony Jay made it worth it XD 2/5.
The Perfect Mate: While preparing for a peace treaty, the Enterprise picks up two Ferengi, one of which messes with the cargo, and releases a young woman named Kamala, a mutant amongst her kind whose abilities let her become the perfect mate for any man, from suspended animation. She was meant to stay that way until the ceremony... and was meant to be a ‘gift’ to one of the sides. Yeah... that’s not at all messed up. Due to the Prime Directive, the crew can’t interfere... and we find out that there was a more complicated reason as to why Kamala was as she was. This is pretty much the TNG version of Elaan of Troyius from TOS. Kamala is completely different from Elaan, more composed and well-mannered while Elaan was more aggressive and upfront. Looking back I do feel I was too harsh in calling Elaan a brat considering the conditions she was under, but the episode certainly didn’t give he much sympathy from anyone (aside from Kirk) while they do better calling out the arrangement here. Then again it’s been months since I watched the episode so I may be remembering wrong. But it does ultimately end with Kamala entering an unhappy marriage, but she bonds with Picard and ends up acting as his perfect mate, so... hope that goes well. The whole empath/metamorph thing felt necessary as well, you didn’t need a reason to make men attracted to her for this episode to work. Which yes it only works on men, remember this is the 90’s folks. I’m kind of baffled as to why Troi wasn’t in this one considering we have another empath, that could have added a more interesting layer and justified that part. But I shall repeat what I said in Elaan when they put Kirk under that tear-induced love spell: you don’t need those elements to keep a plot spicy. The Ferengi we're also utterly pointless. While I feel that the subject is better done than in TOS and it felt more evenly paced... I’m still not a fan of it. It has more of the nuanced debate on the arranged marriage plot that I was annoyed that Elaan didn’t have... but I’m still pretty meh about it overall. it’s alright, but just that: alright. 2.5/5.
Okay folks, we’re five episodes away from finishing S5. So far... it’s only been alright. There’s been a couple of strong episodes, but overall it’s remained firmly in the average range. Maybe S4 hyped me up too much, IDK. I’m still having fun, but maybe I’m just starting to get fatigued from TNG. But we don’t have much more to go, and there’s still plenty of time for S6 to change my mind, so we’ll see how things go from here.

TNG rewatch!
It was my niece’s turn to pick which is also a wild card because she’s never seen any before and just sort of picks one that looks like it has a good thumbnail. So we watched A Fistful of Datas. It was goofy and fun. I feel like they increasingly find ways to get Data out of character because otherwise you are just wasting a perfectly good Brent Spiner. Troi as Dungaree may be my new sexuality. Leather pants!
I like that Worf bonded with his son, but it’s still sad that he tried to wiggle out of it at the start. We are all always worried about the children on the Enterprise because they seem to have no supervision. My mom says that maybe Majel as the computer is watching over them.

Island Hopper-Chapter 1 : Lukuun Lakatu (Very Handsome)
To Island Hopper Table of Contents
To the Jimjeran Table of Contents
It’s just a snippet, but I figured if Jimjeran was to be divided into two “books,” I needed an introductory chapter. This would take place after “Love Making” and before “Snorkel bathing.”
Iiokwe, Miss Peachay!” Peeking from behind her mother's skirts, Lolly held her little brother's hand.
“Look at you,” I gushed to her little brother, resting on his mama's hip. “Kwo lukkuun ļakatu,” I said. Lolly giggled, though I couldn't tell you if it was because of my horrible pronunciation or because Ļakatu, besides meaning “handsome,” was also her brother's name.
Lakatu’s dark eyes were wide and worried, his forehead wrinkled. He had some reason to be concerned; after all, I'd already caused him pain when I treated the boil on his leg at his home, followed by another painful mini-surgery in the clinic. He couldn't know this was just a follow up to make sure the infection was gone.
Ļakatu’s lower lip started to quiver, and he buried his face in his mother's ample bosom.
“Don't cry,” I said in Majel. “It’s okay.”
Lolly stood at the side of the exam table, her chin resting on her hands. She watched, wide-eyed, as I gently removed the bandages from Lakatu’s leg. It didn’t matter how calmly I talked to him, or how gently I touched his leg. Lakatu was terrified of me.
But Lolly was fascinated. “Ta eo?” she asked. What is that?
Lolly questioned me repeatedly, as she pointed in turn to each item on my tray, trying to copy the words I said. She watched as I checked the area around the healing boil to see if the tissue was still inflamed. To my relief, it looked much better; all I had to do was clean the area, reapply ointment and bandages, and then give Ļakatu and Lolly each a gum drop from my treat bowl.
I had taken Laura's advice about bribery, and my mom had happily shopped for simple treats at the Air Force commissary and mailed them to me from Guam, so I could at least help the local toddlers and preschoolers not cower in fear whenever they saw me.
No one was waiting outside the clinic when I was done, so I wandered around our property.
Since our wedding exactly two weeks ago, Jamie and I had worked to complete a variety of projects around the clinic property. My little garden was growing amazingly well, with green leaves and straight stalks on the cucumber, tomato, and pepper plants. The squash vines on the two hills were proliferating as well.
We had worked to rake and smooth the gravel in the front yard of the clinic, but we'd also cleared some spots under the clinic windows as flower beds. One afternoon Jamie and I had gone on a hunt through the palm forest on the ocean side and found several lovely flowering bushes, which we had carefully dug up, placed in our wheelbarrow, and rolled back to the clinic to replant them in the beds.
“What's you name? what's you name? what's you name?” As I sat down on the bench in front of the clinic, rapid-fire questions announced that my frequent visitor Katie was back. Katie would meander by almost daily, peeking through the clinic windows if I was inside, sitting and visiting if I had no patients, and repeatedly asking me the one English question she knew.
“What’s you name?” she asked again.
“You know my name, silly-billy,” I said. “Etam in Claire Fraser.”
“Ejjab,” she disagreed with me, shaking her head. “You name Miss Peachay.”
Though that might be what the residents of the little atoll of Arno called me, I was no longer Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp—“Miss Peachay.”
The reason for my name change was currently striding down the road toward me, heading home after his day of teaching at the Peace Corps school. Surrounded by a herd of enthusiastic children, just as he had been the day I met him, James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser was a striking contrast to the brown-skinned, black-haired island children who swarmed around him. He was tan, much more so than me. His hair, though still furiously red and ridiculously curly, was currently at a semi-short length. As much as I had loved running my fingers through his long curls, when we'd discovered that he had gotten lice because of his students’ constant affection towards him, a haircut was in order. I’d been terrified when Jamie handed me the scissors, but it’s not like there was a huge variety of hair salons down the road from us.
Arno is an outer island in the eastern, or Ratak, chain of tiny atolls that make up the Marshall Islands. As an outer island it has no running water, sewer, or electricity. Advances in solar power have helped slightly, but since the only sources of income on the island are harvesting and smoking coconuts for copra and making handicrafts for tourists to buy, few residents have the money to upgrade their systems.
The two of us had met not even six weeks before when I arrived on the island to serve as a nurse practitioner, embarking on a completely unexpected friendship which culminated in a rapid marriage; tested not only by an eventful honeymoon but also the appearance of my former fiancé, Frank.
When given the choice between Frank and Jamie, I had chosen Jamie. It wasn’t that I could predict what the future would hold for us, but I had never felt so equally matched with another person, whose sense of humor, affectionate nature, honesty, and desire for physical and emotional intimacy were so in sync with mine that for the first time in my life I thought I might actually believe in soul mates.
I wolf-whistled. “La-ka-tuuu,” I catcalled, as Jamie crunched across the gravel in his flip-flops. Next to me Katie giggled and pretended to whistle, perfectly mimicking my lustful tone. Jamie grinned at her, shook his head at me with a wry smile, and sat down between us on the bench, putting his arm around me.
“Ye are a perfectly awful example of respectful femininity, Ripālle,” Jamie said, surreptitiously kissing me on the cheek.
“You know you love it,” I teased back, settling into his comfortable embrace.
On to Chapter 2: Snorkel bathing

NC girl allegedly killed by mom who forced her to stand for 3 days
A North Carolina mom allegedly forced her 4-year-old daughter to stand for three straight days as punishment, causing the girl to become so weak that she fell and suffered fatal injuries, authorities said. Malikah Bennett, 31, of Charlotte, has been charged on suspicion of murder and child abuse in the death last year of her daughter, Majelic Young, news station Fox36 reported. Police said the…

S3 E1 Evolution
This synthesizer intro music completely embodies the stylistic sound that I think of as "TNG".
Wow, poor Wes (Wil) has a lot of acne.
New spacesuits boys and girls! (And gender non-conforming friends!) I like the look of these a lot better. The collar is my favourite addition and I like the interior colour along the edge. If you look closely you can see the front segment of colour is actually three panels of fabric. Frakes look like he had to squeeze into his, it's especially tight across his lower back. At some point they get new uniforms with the same design but slightly different construction. These also match the dress uniforms much better.
Riker...just points at Wes....like the goofy space dad he is
But now the synthesizer music is a little heavy.
Ship shake!
AND WE GET A NEW TITLE SEQUENCE!!! This sequence is part of what, to me, really signifies TNG settling into its identity.
Gates McFadden is back! I've read that Patrick specifically advocated to get her back on the show after the writers staff changed up a bit.
Last season Majel was established as the computer voice which is also a significant but subtle part of the TNG world.
Crusher should also ask Riker about Wesley. I know she feels closer the Picard, but Riker was much more attentive to him. And wasn't she only gone for a year? I get teenage years are important but did she and Wesley never communicate during that time?
Welsey the wunderkind... We're back to the wonder-boy/prodigy Wesley. Last season that didn't feel all that prevalent. Sure Wesley is talented but he didn't get into the training program which kind of undercut his portrayal as said "wunderkind".
"the container had been left open" wow Wesley, wow. That's the passive voice; the correct line is "I'd left the container open." Being a good student doesn't mean your not an idiot.
I fucking hate band/fanfare music.
"do it gently" Patrick says the line so gently
Damn it Wesley! You're mom just had the most mature response imaginable, don't you dare take that for granted.
I'm so glad Pulaski is gone and we have Beverley back.... Nothing specific instigated this thought, in just enjoying having Dr. Crusher back.
Also, let's appreciate that Wes finally owns up to doing something really stupid and none of the commanding officer ridicule or berate him. The accept what he's done and set about fixing the problem.
Is Riker sitting on Picard's desk?
There are fish in the guest quarters. Do they get fed automatically or is that someone's responsibility?
So, this blue lit room with the round hole grates for walls (it looks like a bunch of a connect four games), I can't recall ever seeing this room used again, is that accurate?
Data gets possessed a lot. I think this is the second time after "The Schizoid Man".
What "food" is on Crusher's plate?
Welcome back Doctor Crusher ☺️

This explains some of the treatment of the women in the cast and Gates exit and reentrance to the show (I specifically chose this link for Wil's reaction)

This article from the November 1993 issue of Starlog is fantastic, not only because it has Marina Sirtis’ thoughts on her character Deanna Troi and her experiences on The Next Generation, but also because it has Sirtis talking about Lwaxana, her episodes, and her actress Majel Barrett.
"My mom is great!" she exclaims. "I was really sad that she didn't do an episode this season. She did Deep Space Nine ["The Forsaken"] instead. I felt a bit cheated because she's my mom, and should have been on my show. I love it when Majel comes on. My reaction to her is very similar to the reaction I have to my own mother. They are nothing alike, except that they're both very strong-minded and loud. As Marina, I love having Majel on the set because we just adore each other, and the stories done in Lwaxana episodes tend to be pretty funny. Some people think we don't do enough funny episodes on Next Generation, and I like to have Majel on for that reason alone."
On “Ménage à Troi”:
"I saw it again the other day, and I really liked the stuff between Troi and Riker. I thought Majel was brilliant - I still don't know how she brought herself to kiss that Ferengi. We also finally got to see the gardens of Betazed. It was a fun episode, and it didn't have any deep or meaningful things in it."
On “Half a Life”:
"I wasn't in that one very much," notes Sirtis, "but it brought up some very interesting ideas. I love those episodes where there's a message or some kind of debate that can arise from the situation, and 'Half a Life' was a classic example. Both Timicin and mom had a point. I was on Lwaxana's side because I feel that people are useful to society no matter what age they are. I thought it was a wonderful episode just for those reasons alone, but David fit in with us like a glove. We all loved him immediately. It was a finely acted episode."
In “Cost of Living”, however:
"Pleeeease...the mud bath...It was one of the most disgusting experiences I've ever had. I never want to get in one again, especially with Worf. It was wild and horrible," complains the actress, "like getting into goop. It makes my flesh crawl just thinking about it. There were laughs all around when we did it, but they weren't mine. I do, however, think Majel seemed to be enjoying it."
