got approved for a rental house and will finally be able to move out of this god awful apartment, but the whole process makes me so angry. like moving costs alone are expensive but it’s also all of the unnecessary added fees they tack on. the concert ticket thing is the big discussion but housing application fees? convenience fees for processing a card? like anything extra they can squeeze out of you on top of too expensive rent it’s fucking insane. people can barely (not really) even afford 3x rent, and it’s getting to the point that you need three incomes just to afford one place. like this whole process has made me so angry, and i’ve been angry about it for a long time, of course. but also just looking around and seeing just how many houses are for rent, that aren’t going toward families bc these investors and venture capitalists continue to buy up houses. i genuinely want to know how any of this is going to be sustainable, even within the next three-to-five years.

One of the really difficult things with being both neurodivergent and trans is that I’ve learned to mask both, but I didn’t know about either when I learned that masking.
So in certain social situations, I put on a version of this mask that’s not only draining to perform, but also actively makes me feel worse by making me act more masculine.
Like just now I had to call a technician to fix a problem with my house’s HVAC system, and as I left the message, I’m mimicking how I’ve heard people in those sort of jobs talk when they leave messages and how my dad leaves messages for people like that, and in doing so, I adopt a very masculine way of speaking, while inside I’m simultaneously panicking about:
remembering the information to say
remembering what the words for things are
trying to sound competent and match social expectations (which i only have a vague idea of)
panicking that i paused too long trying to find a basic word a second ago
trying to maintain this false confidence while starting to have a mini gender crisis in my head as I hear myself talking so masculine and manage to somehow simultaneously experience gender dysphoria and doubt that I could sound like that and really be trans
And all this while also knowing that I’m going to miss his first call back because even though I added the business number to my contacts, he’s probably going to call back from his cell phone.
