i looked at wireless adapters and was a bit wary of intel bc they apparently use a technology thats not necessarily compatible w non intel chips but if one of the reviews says theyre using it with the exact mainboard model i have it should be fine right??

Thank you so so much for letting me share this with you and for your feedback ❤️!! So, my idea is that the gaming PC should be able to play all current and upcoming games on very or ultra-high settings without any issues (e.g. Alan Wake 2, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon Forbidden West, etc.), be silent and not overheat quickly and have good airflow, and have space for expansions and/or upgrades.
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow RGB Edition, glass window, white CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 8x 4.2GHz, 96MB L3 cache or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, 12x 4.4GHz, 128MB L3-Cache => I'm a bit indecisive on which one here. Mainboard: Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX, AMD B650 Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB, Gigabyte Aero OC RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 Corsair Vengeance RGB, 2x 16GB, white SSD: 2TB Western Digital Black SN850X, read up to 7.300 MB/s Power supply: 850W Corsair RMe 2023, fully modular CPU cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Elite, white, 240mm
It's a bit on the pricey side, but I'm willing to order it if it can do well and I don't need to upgrade it in a bit, especially, because I don't think there'll be many more games with higher graphics as there are currently.
Hey love, that's a kickass build!!! I would go for the Ryzen 9 7900X3D instead. Simply because it's stronger and this is a purchase that should last you for a few years. Series 7 is great but there is a 10% more chance for a bottle neck.
My rule of thumb is always to go a bit over with the PSU because if your PSU dies, then it can take your entire PC with it. (It happened to me once, and it was painful!!!) Having said that, I think the minimum for 4070 RTX is 750W, but I would go with 900, perhaps just to be sure. It's not a must.
As for RAM. Go for 64. They are not that expansive and also DDR5 are incredible. I have the Vengence as well :).

AMD detalhou os Ryzen 9000 e as capacidades dessa nova geração de processadores para desktops, baseados na tecnologia Zen 5
A AMD detalhou as novidades de seus futuros processadores baseados na microarquitetura Zen 5. Além da linha AMD EPYC, focada em servidores, a empresa falou de seus processadores para desktops, os Ryzen 9000, codinome Granite Ridge, e seus modelos para notebooks, os Ryzen AI 300, codinome Strix Point.
Vamos detalhar neste artigo as principais evoluções nestes produtos, tanto em seus núcleos de processamento Zen 5, novas tecnologias introduzidas e também a atualização na linha de mainboards da plataforma AM5, os AMD chipset 800.
A nova geração de processadores tem como base a microarquitetura Zen 5. A AMD buscou novo ganho de dois dígitos percentuais comparado ao que é oferecido nos processadores Zen 4 (Ryzen 7000 e 8000G). Segundo a AMD, a média de ganho de performance comparado aos antecessores é de 16%
Uma mudança relevante é o aumento de IPC. Os Zen 5 são capazes de entregar mais trabalho por ciclo. Parte desse avanço é o aumento na robustez da estrutura básica dos núcleos Zen 5 comparado aos núcleos Zen 4.
As estruturas de entrada das instruções ficaram maiores, e a AMD dobrou a largura de banda com as memórias cache nível 1 e 2 (L1 e L2 cache), subiu a quantidade de 32kib para 48kib e aumentou a precisão das predições dos dados que serão necessários, tudo para reduzir a necessidade de fazer acessos ao cache e mover dados.
Ou seja: como um todo o processamento é acelerado, graças a hardware mais robusto tanto nas entradas quanto nas saídas das operações, e o sistema de cache foi reforçado para garantir que não ocorram gargalos e esse sistema fique ocioso porque está esperando dados. Como a AMD mesmo chama na apresentação, é preciso “feed the beast” (alimentar a besta, em tradução livre).
Outra mudança relevante é no aquecimento. Esse tópico foi criticado em nossas análises dos Ryzen 7000, com o aumento perceptível das temperaturas nesse produtos comparados aos antecessores Ryzen 5000.
Aqui o segredo é um uso mais eficiente das informações dos sensores. A AMD tornou a distribuição de carga pelo chip mais eficiente, de forma a amenizar os picos de temperatura em pontos específicos do die, os hotspost. Com isso, temos uma redução de 7ºC na temperatura, operando no mesmo TDP que um modelo Ryzen 7000.
No geral, a microarquitetura Zen 5 alcança ganhos de performance através de várias melhorias em simultâneo. Fetch, Execution, Decode e largura de banda das memórias cache, todas juntas, contribuem de forma mais ou menos parecida para os avanços dessa geração.

Custom built desktop? Yeah I got one. Who doesn't?
What I really need is a laptop. But I want a laptop I can use to draw- and it feels like my options are to lug along a drawing tablet as well, and find a place to set it all up, or a.... Surface tablet.
Eugh.
But fear not: I have inspiration- and a base.
Enter the Toshiba Portege M780:

This is a pretty unassuming looking laptop- it was released in 2009, and boy does it look like it!

Not a bad thing though! Personally I adore this look- thin laptops just don't do it for me. I want my laptops to have BEEF. I want to be able to hurl it and feel confident it survived! But regardless- what's going on at the bottom here?

Nope, some sort of stylus shaped hole. Huh...
Well, if you guessed (or if you know) that's right, this is a tablet! Or at least, a convertible laptop. First released in 1994, the Portege line is only one year older than the oldest convertible, the Compaq Concerto. It also lasted a bit longer, with the last model released in 2017, two years before all Toshiba laptops were axed. This model (again, 2009) is a convertible over a detachable netbook, and originally had a Wacom digitizer built into the screen. It even has pressure sensitivity- or, had. Mine came without a few pieces, like the pen, and anything not soldered in.

Regardless, this M780 (while a little beat up and ugly) is the perfect candidate to make my perfect convertible, portable laptop. The heart of all this is the Framework laptop mainboard and the Huion Kamvas. The full list as of right now:
Framework AMD Ryzen 7 7840U Mainboard
1x 16 GB RAM, leaving one slot for the option of later upgrades
1TB SSD
Additional framework laptop components (audio board, speakers, battery/charger, power button, probable antennae, and potentially trackpad)
Mechanical keyboard - likely utilizing Kailh low profile switches, either white or blue.
Huion Kamvas 13" graphics tablet
And the extra features I'd love to implement somehow:
Bluetooth macro pad that snaps into one of my now-empty slots
Built in pen AND nib holder
Currently the plan goes something like this:
Disassemble Portege. Figure out what space I have to work with.
Create internal layout. Requires having parts for measurement.
Model and print brackets for parts. Glue inside case.
Attach everything.
Profit! (not really. This is going to cost over 1k...)
My current next step will be to create a more solid roadmap and plan- then get everything prettied up and shared here for easy access.
I am probably NOT the first to do this, but I'm hoping to encourage more custom laptop builds- or at least make them more accessible. If nothing else, I hope to get a cool laptop out of it!

Stattdessen hat AMD offensichtlich den Fokus auf den High-End-Markt mit den X670E-Mainboards gelegt. Das bedeutet nicht, dass die anderen Chipsätze nicht leistungsfähig sein werden, aber sie werden im Vergleich zu X670E-Mainboards weniger Funktionen haben. Mit der Veröffentlichung von Ryzen 7000 haben wir Zugang zu vielen Funktionen wie USB4, der AMD EXPO-Speichertechnologie und natürlich PCI-E 5.0 bekommen. Wer seine GPU auf eine der rumorierten RTX 4000-Karten aktualisieren möchte, sollte in Erwägung ziehen, ein X670E-Mainboard zu erwerben, um Zugang zu einem x16-Slot zu haben, der die neueste Generation unterstützt. Andere Mainboards können diesen neuen Slot haben, aber um Geld zu sparen, scheint es einen größeren Fokus darauf zu geben, dass die PCI-E Gen5-Kompatibilität für SSDs anstatt für Grafikkarten unterstützt wird. Es ist auch wichtig zu beachten, dass die "E"-Chipsätze besser für Übertaktung geeignet sind als die Standard-X670- und B650-Chipsätze aufgrund ihrer starken Stabilität und hohen Anzahl von Leistungsphasen.
