My commute to Maynooth

Hi all,

Everybody loves Fridays as they signify the beginning of the weekend, but for me it means going home. Home to bed, home to mam’s cooking and home to bed (did I mention bed?). It’s a long journey back to Tipperary but it helps when I can put my earphones in and enjoy listening to music. I take two buses: one from Maynooth to Heuston Station and one from Heuston Station to Cashel. Overall it takes about three hours and with my student card the price is very manageable. The journey back up to Maynooth is always the hardest. It’s difficult saying goodbye to your family, your pets and your bed, but it always calms me down knowing that I’ll be back in a few days. The weeks are flying by and I think it’s safe to say that we’re all looking forward to the week off next week (although I’m sure we’ll all be busy catching up on essays and assignments…) Overall my first few weeks at Maynooth have been the best I could have imagined and I have fallen in love with the town. Once you get into a routine and become familiar with your surroundings everything becomes a lot easier. Scheduling naps into my daily timetable is something I thought I’d never do but hey, college is full of new experiences!
