The kit along with the battle green shade of the TUV300 completed the rugged look of the SUV. Mahindra discontinued the TUV300 from the market and with minor changes, it is now sold as Bolero Neo.

Mahindra TUV300 Plus

The TUV300 Plus owned by Anand Mahindra is called Grey Ghost. It got a special steel grey paint job hence the name. Anand Mahindra had tweeted once complaining that folks at Mahindra are making him wait for his TUV300 Plus because of the custom paint job.

Mahindra Scorpio

Mr Mahindra owns the first-generation Scorpio. It is the 4×4 version that he has with him. The SUV is not seen much on the road these days. Scorpio is an SUV that has a huge fan following and even today, many customers still have the first-generation Scorpio. Mahindra has now renamed the original Scorpio as Scorpio Classic and the new version is called Scorpio N.

Mahindra Alturas G4

For those who don’t know, Alturas G4 is a rebadged version of Ssangyong Rexton which was once sold in India. Anand Mahindra bought himself one of these SUVs when it was launched in the market. Just like many of his SUVs, he has a name for this Alturas G4 too. He had asked his followers on social media to suggest a name. Of all the suggestions, he finalised the name – Baaz for his Alturas G4. Anand Mahindra even gifted the person a diecast model who suggested the name.

Scorpio N

Mahindra launched the all-new Scorpio N in the market recently and deliveries for the same have also started. Anand Mahindra got himself a Scorpio N in Red shade. He even asked his friends and followers on social media for a nickname for the SUV and he did get one. He named the SUV Bheem. Name of a mythological character from Mahabharata, who is known for his strength. Mahindra Scorpio N is the only SUV in the segment that is offering a proper 4×4 system. The Mahindra TUV300 To Get A Facelift - Expectations

The sub-compact SUV segment has become so popular that every car manufacturer wants to provide a product in this segment. Before BS6, Mahindra - in its attempt to enter this segment - launched the TUV300. The SUV performed quite decently but was not much hyped in the market. Mahindra also did not update the car with the BS6 engine - showing fewer sales. Design and Looks

The new Mahindra XUV300 will be a different looking car compared to the last generation. The new model is expected to draw heavy inspiration from the Alturas G4.  The 2021 Mahindra TUV300 is expected to come with an updated front grille with six vertical slats, redesigned front bumper and a more angular fog lamp housing. Similarities to the old TUV300 include vertically positioned tail lamps and tailgate-mounted spare wheel which adds a rugged look to the SUV. New headlights and a new LED DRL design can be expected. Mahindra will also provide a new alloy wheel design to attract new customers.

Interior Changes

Drastic changes will not be visible on the interiors of the Mahindra TUV300. According to some rumours, we expect the interior colour to be beige and black which is the same as the BS4 Mahindra TUV300.  Power window controls are expected to be placed on the centre of the SUV.  The new Mahindra TUV300 BS6 will definitely get a touchscreen infotainment system ideally 10.25-inch along with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Engine and Performance

The BS4 Mahindra TUV300 Plus was only offered with a 2.2-litre Diesel engine with manual transmission. However, the BS6 Mahindra TUV300 is expected to come with a 1.5-litre turbo diesel and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine option to keep the tax fees low. We expect both the engines to get automatic transmission options in the form of 6-speed AMT. Mahindra also showcased the iSHIFT technology earlier and may release it with this car. The XUV300 already comes with similar engine options.

The 1.5-litre Turbo Diesel on the XUV300 produces 115bhp and 300Nm. The 1.2-litre Turbo Petrol on the other hand produces 109bhp and 200Nm. The Mahindra TUV300 is expected to come with 7 seats so will be preferred by buyers looking for a 7-seater affordable SUV. Volkswagen launches Tiguan Allspace, priced at Rs 33.12 lakh in India

German auto major Volkswagen on Friday launched India-specific 7-seater Tiguan Allspace premium SUV in the domestic market priced at Rs 33.12 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new offering from Volkswagen, which comes with a 2-litre BS-VI-compliant engine, is an extended version of the 5-seater Tiguan. It is available in the market at a price tag of Rs 28.15 lakh -Rs 31.54 lakh (ex-showroom India).

The all-new Tiguan Allspace was showcased at last month’s Auto Expo in Greater Noida along with three other SUVs as part of the company’s India 2.0 and SUVW strategy.

“The Tiguan Allspace is one of our most successful carlines globally and we are extremely delighted to launch the car for our Indian customers,” Steffen Knapp, director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said here.

The Tiguan Allspace launch comes close on the heels of the company rolling out the BS-VI versions of its hatchback Polo and midsize sedan Vento.

It is the first SUV that is being launched under Volkswagen’s SUV offensive strategy and suits the needs of every Indian customer, Knapp added.

Built on Volkswagen’s MQB platform, the Tiguan Allspace has a longer wheelbase and comes with a host of standard comfort and safety features such as Airbags, electric parking brakes, Rear view camera, seatbelt reminder, digital cockpit, and easy open electric boot, among others.

The new Tiguan Allspace will also come as a completely knocked-down (CKD) unit and there carries a premium price tag.

“It is equipped with a powerful 2.0-litre TSI engine and is mated to a 7-speed DSG 4-motion transmission, which enhances the driving comfort for the customer while being fuel efficient in nature. We’re extremely confident that the sophisticated 7-seater Tiguan Allspace will be a winner among many Indian customers,” Knapp said.

He reiterated Volkswagen’s plan to roll out four SUVs, including the Allspace launched on Friday, in India within the next two years.

Knapp said Volkswagen wants to be a sustainable brand and improve customer support, adding the total cost of ownership is being looked at in a 360 approach.

Reduction in total cost of ownership with 4EVERcare has gone down by 30 per cent, he added.

The TSI technology, according to the company, is a key component for the brands’ powertrain and fuel strategy and has many advantages include the engines compact design which enables a high-power drivability, more performance, and less fuel consumption with an excellent fuel economy.

The Allspace will compete against other special utility vehicles (SUVs) in the segment, including Skoda Kodiaq, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, and Mahindra’s Alturas G4, among others.

In 2018, the VW Group had announced investments of around Rs 8,000 crore in the country till 2021 under its India 2.0 project, while giving Czech firm Skoda Auto the responsibility to take the lead to achieve a combined target of 5 per cent market share of the total domestic passenger vehicle segment by 2025.

Of this, Volkswagen alone is looking to corner 3 per cent market share as against around 1 per cent at present.

The company has merged its three Indian entities — Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd and Skoda Auto India Pvt Ltd — for greater synergies and faster decision-making.

The merged entity, which is called Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd, will develop six cars for domestic and export markets.

Mahindra satisfied with 1,000 bookings for the Alturas G4

Mahindra introduced its new flagship SUV, the Alturas G4, in India on November 24, 2018 starting at Rs 26.95 lakh and going up to Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Alturas G4 replaced the slow-selling Ssangyong Rexton in our market and is Mahindra’s most expensive offering till date. 

The company has announced that it has gathered 1,000 bookings for the new SUV. While the number maybe a bit small compared to its direct rival the Toyota Fortuner – which sells around 1,800 units a month – Mahindra is satisfied with the number of bookings.

Speaking at the financial results announcement, Pawan Goenka, MD Mahindra and Mahindra said that he is confident that new launches like the Marazzo, Alturas and XUV300 will deliver combined sales of 9,000 units a month. He further added that he is “happy” with the 1,000 bookings so far for the Alturas. 

While the Mahindra Alturas G4 is essentially a rebadged Ssangyong Rexton G4, the Indian carmaker has made subtle styling tweaks with a new grille and has tweaked the interior as well. The Mahindra Alturas G4 gets premium leather upholstery with soft-touch materials, a sunroof, a decent-sized touchscreen and a long list of features.  The seven-seat SUV is available with a lower-spec variant that comes with 2WD and a top-spec 4WD variant that also gets nine airbags.
