OH wow that explains so much from the slight narrative dissonance in Pathologic 2 -- like yes, it works for sure, it really emphasizes Rubin has a complex, but it makes him seem more so deranged. knowing there was actually some adoption proceedings there in Patho 1 definitely adds something.

That’s also interesting that the apple basket friends wasn’t a thing in Patho 1 (lowkey a favourite part of the game so far for me). By the way, is it canonical (in either Pathologic) that Rubin is an orphan? I think I might have missed the details about that but I was wondering out loud the other day if you know
