With Sympathy
I've got a bad feeling about empathy
I'd like to express my deepest sympathies but they're so deep I don't realise I have them.

Less prompt more idea:
Owls get little backpacks that have runes on them for deliveries, allowing the owl to carry different sized and weighted items with ease and comfort for them. If the owl has multiple deliveries then only the recipient will be able to remove their own mail. Muggle repelling/notice me not runes would keep muggles from noticing them as magicals would

Breaking Magic Stereotypes I Think:
“Rule number one about magic, everything you think you know about it is bullshit.”
“Magic has a mind of its own and it doesn’t always listen.”
“Dude a show magician could do this better than you.”
“Fire burns your fucking clothes whether it’s magic or not. I dunno why everyone thinks it doesn’t.”
“When you’re casting a spell, you gotta do it from above your hand, not from it. Otherwise it affects you too.”
“The only kind of magic that isn’t real is the shit you see on tv.”

Magic Interaction Idea:
Incubus/Succubus winks at people and makes them instantly horny. The usual. They try to use it on a demisexual and it works. But unbeknownst to the demon, the demisexual now has intimate knowledge of them. So after escaping their grasps, they use this information to kill the "closest" person they have ever met.

We need more magical characters who don’t have a lot of power in a “can cast awesome badass spells” sense, but instead use smaller, weaker spells with very specific fucked-up intentions that make the spellcaster perhaps more of a threat.
Like for example: a spellcaster who moves/manipulates objects with their mind, but the objects must be small in size. However, they have fantastic knowledge of human anatomy and with a crook of their finger can simply pause someone’s aortic valve.

Home and Hearth Candle
Hearths were so important in the homes of Ancient Greece, but what if your home doesn’t have one now? Many homes today don’t have a hearth space so when my partner and I moved I decided to create a stand in to the best of my ability. Now this isn’t going to be an exact instructional as I feel this can be so heavily personalized but here are the basics! Personally I involved my partner in the process of the choices for this candle, even though he doesn’t have the same beliefs I do I gave him some lists with correspondences so he could choose what energy he’d like to bring into our home.
Note: You don’t have to add everything I did to this you can choose to add crystals and not oils, mix and match to what you think would be best!
What you will need
-Large pillar candle of your choosing (white was what I had on hand)
-Essential oils corresponding to intents
-Crystals that hold the intent you would like
-Any herbs you feel would bring good energy (just be careful as this candle is meant to be lit, dry herbs and all that)
-A tool to carve into the candle (if you would like to put singles or runes into it)
-colored wax of whatever intent you would like
-If invoking/involving any gods an offering for them
Process of making the candle
-Firstly cleanse your space in any manner you choose, I personally chose sound cleansing and smoke cleansed with incense
-Place the pillar candle on a burn proof plate or candle plate in case wax drips. Starting off anoint your candle with the essential oil with the energy you wish to bring into your home (we personally went with sage for protection/dispelling negative energy and cinnamon for love and prosperity)
-Add any herbs you would like to on top of the candle, being careful of how much you add or how close to the candle wick you place them (mine doesn’t have any herbs but feel free to add what you like!)
-Next carefully place whatever crystals you choose on the top of the candle (this candle only had small chips and has tigers eye for confidence and aventurine for optimism even in trying times)
-After all the pieces are placed where you like melt the colored wax you would like to add to the candle and carefully pour it or drip it over the candle encasing the crystals, oils, and herbs in place as well as bringing their own color magic (the on in my home has blue for balance in all ways and consideration for others as well as light green for hope, growth, and overcoming indecision)
-Carve any runes, sigils, or symbols into the candle once the wax dries that you would like (I carved a simple protection sigil into the bottom)
-Once the candle is finished I personally gave offerings to the gods, specifically Hestia, and prayed to her asking if she sees this candle as a fit “hearth” then may she find a home in our house. I waited for the incense I offered to burn off completely while meditating in prayer and giving the energy of love, comfort, protection into the candle.
-Once done place the candle in the main living space of your home
Obviously the picture I have is after some burning and the tigers eye chips have sank into the wax melted so that’s a my bad but! This is what mine turned out like; I’m very proud of it. If anyone else makes one I hope it goes well and brings the warmth of the hearth into your home ☺️

random magic ideas
-smoke that slices anything it touches. Ie smoking character. or anything else you want the smoke to do.
-cant die. whenever killed, the soul gets transferred to the killer and shapeshifts back to the original form. Last disciple of a God of Rebirth?
-animate. dancing brooms from the rich rat. Can heal self, but only when if you can touch the bone.
-make anything into a sword.
-scape goat. the world dies and everyone in it, lucky you are the last to die. strike of luck, all the rest of the souls turn their eyes to you and refuse to let you die and inhabit the recesses of your soul. now you can command literal armies worth of ghost or monsters or whatever form you want them to take.
-that blind spot idea. can summon anything in a blind spot that has absolutely no eyes on it, not even peripheral, mostly.
-shapeshifter, but only into one kind of monstrous beast, can change size tho. isekai? can't speak the language but can understand it, bit of a plot hole unless you find a way to fix it, accidentally steps in a magic puddle or something maybe. bad ass bitch mode, adventure style comedy via isekai tropes, not a romance if it can be avoided.
-tiny ass fairy form, smaller than a plastic waterbottle, tinkerbell height. fucks with a pre-planned plot, isekai madness. Hates the fact they are this small and weak. Very much a total menace.
-a racoon holding a wand, two 'brother' racoons with their own magic tools. the wand grants any wish the holder makes. one brother has an infinite holding bag and the other has a human size wizard hat that let's it teleport wherever it wants.
-create a rift in space, pitch black. A primordial black hand, or multiple, come out of it. Ie, rift in someone's mouth, hand and arm come out the mouth and latch onto the head of the body, lift it into the sky. squeeze head til it pops, body drops.
-vibromancy is low key overpowered when done right. control sounds. no one that can go at the speed of light? sound beats everything in rock paper scissors
-chronomancer abuses the power of equivalent exchange to teleport using time.
-cowboy internet girl. Cowboy Bebop type beat. Matrix bs, cowgirl asethetic with hat covering the eyes. In the internet. Hackers, human?, get shot in the face irl. Like the girls hand comes out the screen and just pops them in the face with a bullet. Can snap her fingers and turn everything, the scene, into a matrix gird. Uses the grid lines like a lasso.
-angels have reversed gravity. This just means that their hair is pulled by an unknown gravity source that looks like when youre hair is hanging upside down. Any of their blood drawn also falls upward.

In the story of Rudimenta there exists corruption. Corruption is like a parasite sucking the magic out of the humans core(the catalyst for casting magic in Rudimenta) these things can take on many shapes to lure in their prey.

All fabulous ideas. What about:
Sneezing fits whenever magic is used too much
Or hiccups
Or turning completely drunk after using magic for too long- could also effect liver long term like alcohol
magic as a high that becomes addicting but with negative physical consequences
Allergic reaction every time magic is used (hives, sneezing, watery eyes etc)
Hair loss the more magic is used
Being turned on when using small spells and An orgasm after casting major spells
Killing the plants around them when magic is being used
Or animals/plants/something that appears (friendly things) when magic is cast
A scar or a tattoo appearing after using
Hair or some other part of the body changing shape or color until you’re a new person and your magic changes too
Anyone else have ideas?
Some of my favorite magic side effects:
-Nosebleeds. Never gets old.
-Coughing up blood. The good ol’ “cough into your hand and pull it back to see blood” also never gets old.
-Headaches. You keep fighting as your head pounds, desperately telling you to take a break. At first they fade within minutes when you stop using magic, but overtime, they become chronic.
-Fatigue. After a big battle, you stand triumphant, and then just fall asleep on the spot.
-In a similar vein, overuse causing you to straight up faint rather than just fall asleep. Darkness begins to overtake your vision in the middle of battle, unconsciousness abruptly looming over you.
-Any of the side effects happening to another person. Maybe two close characters are connected, and whatever side effects character A would normally endure are transferred to character B. When A uses a blast of magic B screams loudly because holy shit that hurt.
-Magic gradually deteriorating your mind. Using it too much eventually caused hallucinations and an inability to retain memories, or even larger scale memory loss.
Feel free to add more, I’m looking for some to steal

Costs For Magic Ideas
Following spells are weaker
Creates physical wounds
Physically drains (ie; exhaustion, sore, inability to cast more spells) basically stamina
Mentally drains (ie; slower magic, spells may come out wrong)
Following spells could take longer to cast
Following spells could also have a limit; after casting a bigger spell the user could only cast smaller spells (basically mana)

Imagen how entertaining it would be if these 2 interact. And I'm a fan of possessive/jealous/protective Stolas (Which I don't see enough of <(_ _)>)
